The Avenida in Bexley

We arrived and stood waiting for our table for 40 mins. the manger said we had only just walked through the door and basically said we were lying. We waited an hour for our starter. We waited an hour for our mains before we said that we didn’t want them anymore as it was 10pm. We got sworn at by the manger and told to leave. He said “if you don’t eat my f***ing food you need to get out” he also swore at his bar staff when we tried to pay for the drinks we had. He said “just give me the f***ing bill for the drinks” very unprofessional and the rudest experience I have had. The food we did eat was not worth the money. I will never come back to this restaurant.

I love the ambience. Very Romantic

It would have been a good night had it not been for the unprofessional attitude of the manager, Having looked at the menu on their website, we decided to book for a team dinner as the prices fit within our budget - The weekday menu is advertised as £17.50 for 2 courses and £22.00 for 3 courses. The meal was OK, and the service was great (I do feel bad for the waitress giving a 1 star review) the problems arose when the bill arrived. You get presented with a blank piece of paper apart from the total, no breakdown of meals or prices, and it was far higher than it should have been. In our party of 18, 10 people had 2 courses and 8 had 3 courses and they tried to charge almost £550.00. I questioned this and was told I would need to speak with the manager. When he came out of the kitchen, he didn't walk further than the door so we had to go over to him (this conversation wouldn't have disturbed any other customers as we were the only people there). From the start he was incredibly rude and when we questioned the amount of the bill he insisted it was correct. We tried to explain that the menu on the website very clearly stated different prices and even checked it whilst we were talking just in case anything had changed - it hadn't but he didn't care. He continued to insist the price charged was correct, which was £27.50 per person, we pointed out that was the price advertised on the weekend menu and we were there on a Wednesday. His response to this they were old prices and how we can we expect to only pay £17.50 or £22.00. He couldn't tell me how we were meant to be aware of this without being told. He continued to argue, yell and dismiss all of our questions, until he stomped off into the kitchen yelling over his shoulder for us to get out! We settled the bill, at the advertised price, and ensured that the service charge added did go to the staff, but this encounter did overshadow the evening and is not how I expect any customer to be treated in a restaurant. I would not recomend going to this restaurant based on the way the manager treats people who have the "audacity" to question him, if you do decide to go make you check the prices before ordering anything. The picture below shows the menu the night we were there and I have checked their website again today and the weekday menu is still advertised at the same price.

A really nice, old school, dinner and dance restaurant. Second time here. The food is I reckon Greek Cypriot with grilled meats, moussaka, houmous and taramasalata, all done really well. It is billed as a steakhouse but fine if you are vegetarian or pescetarian. Really decent wine and good after-dinner coffee plus alcohol e.g. French coffee with brandy and Russian coffee with vodka. Reasonably priced and excellent, friendly, attentive service. We had to wait for a friend who was running a bit late and the bar area by the entrance is comfy and welcoming. The music is great - think Earth Wind and Fire, Commodores, Supremes, Candi Staton and other great, classic soul, which had people up on the small and intimate dance floor. A lovely night out.

I have eaten in hundreds of different restaurants and this has got to be one of the nicest and best priced I have ever been to. We were just 2 of us and we ordered 4 starters and 2 mains because we wanted to try it all, and not 1 dish disappointed us. Highly highly recommend!!! The manager was great! The waitresses were efficient. I will be paying Avenida a visit again with other family members.

Some of the guests were on budgets and others had smaller appetites so before the night, I sent a copy of the weekend menu (as on their website) to everyone for reassurance. When we arrived, we were all presented with a fixed price, 3 course, £32.50 party menu (that’s not even on their website) so people were forced to eat more and pay more. I didn’t want to cause a scene but did query it and was told that’s what larger groups have to use, which I wasn’t told at the time of booking. The staff were lovely and the singers great but the manager was the opposite. Rude, impatient and obnoxious and many of the guests commented. Also, when I went to settle the bill, he was adamant that there were 32 guests but had inadvertently included my 3 year old niece, despite my being told at the time of booking she was free. Lastly and disappointingly, it was only our group left and my daughter offered to pay £20 if her fiancé could sing “Piano Man” on the microphone (a family favourite and nice way to end the night). He refused, which says it all really. Apart from our table, there were only two others all night, which is very quiet for a Saturday. No surprise to me at all.

We went to this restaurant with some friends. They had called ahead to make sure it was wheelchair friendly. They were told it was but it wasn’t. The tables are packed so closely and the door that could have been used as a wheelchair entrance was blocked. The food was not good at all. The puff pastry tartlet was actually two triangles of puff pastry with sauce poured on top. The vegetable lasagne tasted like a bad ready meal. Every plate of food comes with chips, grilled tomato, mushrooms and peas regardless of what you order. Despite stating that the restaurant is air conditioned, it was absolutely boiling hot in there. We didn’t stay for dessert as we just wanted to leave. Not recommended.

Booked the restaurant for my Wife Birthday with a group of friends we all had a fantastic night. The food was excellent, the drinks flowed, the entertainment was terrific and the service throughout the night was spot on, warm, friendly, and great atmosphere we will be booking a tribute night again very soon. Defo recommend to family and friends.

A fantastic night out. We went in the hope that we could get a table and we got lucky. There was a set menu and it was excellent value. Garlic Prawns for me, veal in cream wine and mushroom sauce and the tastiest tiramisu ever. Everything perfectly cook. My wife had a steak, and apple pie for afters. All perfectly cooked and very tasty. There was a very good singing duo but the star of the show was Elizabeth who worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was happy. A very charming lady. They even have an evening with Michael Buble coming up. The best meal we ever had in the London area. All the staff were exceptionally helpful.

We went there on a Saturday and there was live music, service was impeccable and food was lovely. Decor is a bit dated, but overall, it was a very enjoyable place to dine for a reasonable price.

Excellent service. I had fillet steak and it was amazing. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Entertainment was brilliant. Don’t be put off by the dated decor as it adds to the charm. Would recommend

Nice old fashioned restaurant. We booked to try out food & entertainment to see what it was like for a friends upcoming 60th birthday. Staff & food excellent! Unfortunatly the singer was cancelled to a large booking cancellation so that was dissapointing. We still had a lovely evening & will def go back.

A rather lovely posh restaurant in the heart of Welling.Very good welcome upon arrival & escorted to the table.The restaurant was open on Sunday - as it is Mother's Day.The waitresses were friendly & so was the manager.There was a self service Sunday roast selection of either beef,lamb shank ,turkey or a vegetarian dish. The guy serving the food was very pleasant ,the atmosphere was good,busy & bustling.The food was lovely, the lamb shank 'melted' off the bone but it was not as fully brown inside as I prefer...however overall the meal was great & the dessert was absolutely delightful.😃👍🌟💞🥘🍰🥂

We visited this evening with family and friends, for my mums birthday. I won't pretend that I did not expect to have an amazing night tonight, it was mums choice, and I pre judged the place as I thought the restaurant looked a little dated. Well, it was a little dated, but in a great way! Meaning it had a nostalgic feel - I felt like it was a real "night out". An occassion to dress up and eat a steak! The food was very reasonable priced, tasted great, really couldn't fault it. The atmosphere was fab, even being the first weekend in Jan (notoriously a bit of a rubbish weekend, in general). The staff were amazing, you can tell they know exactly what they're doing, and the entertainment was fantastic. I look forward to visiting again.

Lovely new year party with great live music.

We went for my birthday in December and again on New Year's Eve and both times the whole experience was fantastic, food cooked to perfection , service excellent on both occasions and though not not rammed as in previous years , it made the atmosphere better . Definitely will go more in 2023

This was my 3rd year celebration Christmas party -left disappointed-wanted to e-mail my concerns but no e-mail address? -the service was Very slow we were left wondering if we had been forgotten other tables were served starters & mains before ours.The waitress even tried to clear our table before the food arrived! We were served our dessert at 22.41! Which we had to collect ourselves & some were still frozen . We then felt this left us hardly anytime to enjoy the dance floor with full tummy’s! Such a shame as past experience has been good. This place has been going for years so expected better!

Visited in a quiet Friday evening, so likely different to when they have tribute acts, but on a quiet Friday evening on entering, being seated, reading the menu, the service, the decor, the tablecloths, the music, the atmosphere, what jumped out at me was that this place appear trapped in a timelock, it reminded me of hotel dining rooms from a bygone era, with a hotel style evening meal type experience. Not saying this is bad, just different to the norm. Ordered starter and main, both were tasty, and were better than expected. Staff were attentive and friendly. Pricing very reasonable. Would recommend and would return. Decor could be modernised though.

Went there on my birthday for a George Benson tribute show which did not start till 10.30pm even though we were told tables were booked from 7pm. Food had no seasoning, very bland. Steak on the menu but they had no sauce to go with it. Waitress said they did not have peppercorn sauce and I should have asked for it at the time I ordered my food and that it takes too long to make so I could not have it. I have had steaks at other restaurants before and when taking the order the waiter/waitress would ask what sauce you wanted with your steak, so being blamed for not asking what sauce they had was annoying especially as it seemed they had no sauce at all. I was offered mint sauce or some sort of gravy with mushrooms and peppers which I refused. I ended up asking for a takeaway container for my steak, but then they claimed they had no carrier bag to put it in, even though I saw them give someone else a carrier bag for the same purpose🤔. The George Benson singer was quite good and to be honest that's all I enjoyed. Certainly never going back there nor will I be recommending it to anyone that looks like me.....read what you like into that😰🙏🏾

I was taken by my son and daughter-in-law to this wonderful restaurant again on Mothering Sunday. As usual the food was so appetising, well cooked and beautifully presented. We all had the roast beef which so tender it melted in the mouth. The vegetables were perfectly cooked with such a variety, the parsnips were especially delicious. The starter (iced melon) was luxurious and the fresh fruit salad (with ice cream or cream) was so flavoursome. I look forward to my next visit. Compliments to all the Staff, especially the Owner. thank you for making my Mothering Sunday so special.

Was due to go to this place tomorrow evening (New year's Eve) but unfortunately our friend has got covid so she rang them to tell them she can't make it,( they said no refunds don't care and go away) There was no need for that comment so will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not be going there again.. I phoned the Avenida today to cancel our booking for tomorrow, New Years Eve. I tested positive for covid and three of the party have to isolate. If I could have given no stars would. The manager was very rude and told me to clear off, saying he didn’t care.

My husband and I had our first visit to Avenida tonight and were treated like royalty by Eddita, Tony and Gina (and the young chef in the kitchen!). Food was excellent and service was amazing. Highly recommend the sirloin steak! Definitely will be back, and thank you so much for a wonderful evening ❤️

I do not recommend booking this restaurant as we paid £80 deposit for 8 people for my husband's birthday but when he got covid I phoned and asked to rearrange our booking for another day and was told that was fine but we would have to pay another £80 as we had lost the 1st deposit . Absolute joke and very rude with it. We will not be going here ever.

We all really enjoyed the evening (14 of us) The food was pretty good fair size portions, the place wasn't that busy but that was nice for us. Tony the boss looked after us all pretty well and the bill came in pretty reasonable. However...

The Sunday Carvery is great - much better than the Toby Carvery. Medium rare beef, moist turkey and best of all the roast potatoes, so often the bit restaurants get wrong, were great. I did find the place quite cramped and it was hard work...

Went in on the off chance as we could see empty tables when walking past and glad we did. It's a carvery on Sunday afternoons. The food was very good quality and plenty of it for the £15 which includes dessert. You can get a Sunday roast much cheaper but definitely not this quality and quantity, will be going back very soon.

Booked a table for New Year’s Eve but over Xmas period abroad my wife fell and fractured her back in two place and was hospitalised in Spain, I phoned Tony to tell him we may not even be in UK at New Year’s Eve and...

A good atmosphere. The entertainment was a young lady and keyboard player today different every week . The food arrived fairly quickly. Starters were fine, the main course was lamb shank was alright. Service was friendly and helpful. A bit more expensive than I would normally go.

Went here for our christmas work do and had a great evening, food was lovely, entertainment was a bit cheesey but good fun. We all had a dance and a sing and one or two drinks, really enjoyed it. Am going back shortly.

The decor is a bit 1970's but we love it. Entertainment good. Service fantastic, attentive and quick. As far as the food is concerned, it is second to none. Fabulous. The best steak I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. We have had several different meals and occasions at the Avenida in the last 4 years. All have been memorable. Sunday carvery is outstanding. They cater for allergies very well. Very family friendly. Highly recommend it to you.

New Years Eve at the Avenida is amazing. It's a 1980s decor place, which appeals to people of all ages. Great food, great service & wonderful entertainment. Avenida - please don't change the way it is, you have the winning formula.

Food is delicious is and the staff are so lovely. Except the manager who needs to retire. He accepted a booking for a hen night but we were no allowed a blow up man with his willy out... I mean it's a hen night... I asked the one table with a young child and she didnt have an issue. The manager then came and told me that I had no right asking his customers if they had any issues with the doll. It was only him that had am issue... dont come here if you want a good time especially If it is a Hen night...

Owner is extremely rude and when questioned his only response seems to be find a different restaurant and don’t come back. I arranged to go there for Valentine’s Day with my partner, waited over 20 mins for our drink, that we could see on the bar, to be brought to our table and then waited another 20/30 mins for our starter to arrive. Food was average at best. There was also supposed to be a Luther Vandross tribute singer, who only walked through the door as I left at 10 o’clock. I refused to pay the service charge because of the awful service and instead of apologising, the owner said never come back again. Avoid this place at all costs.
