The Assembly Rooms Wetherspoon in Epsom and Ewell

Amazing value with a great outside seating area.

Went there sunday 20th october Food good, but the attitude of the staff needs addressing, they are ignorant and rude, when asked for there name they just smirked and stated that they don't have to give me there name, come on Mr Martin, I know getting staff is not easy, but you don't need rude staff.

Cramped, packed to the brim and with far too many shouting morons. We were served by Joel who was friendly and helpful.

Staff are nice and friendly. The nachos and curry sauce and chips are excellent

Great pub, very busy, food great.

Recently had a £1.3 million "Revamp" (mainly to the kitchen, apparently?). Waste of money! Some things have improved (the extra plugs are cool) but an awful lot has gotten an awful lot worse. The two coffee machines (which badly need replacing) have been pushed together at one end of the pub. This means the area to get coffee is very cramped and you have to wade through a maze of tables to get to it. There's a stupid barrier put up around the machines that crowds people together, which sometimes leads to disagreements & friction between the customers. There are often long queues for coffee as the knackered machines often breakdown. Despite the apparent upgrade to the kitchen, there is no noticeable improvement in the quality of the food or the speed at which it is being served. Often the food arrives cold. By far the worst issue now though is pub has even more of a pack-em-in feel then it did before. There are far too many tables laid out and the tables themselves are too big, as are the new arm chairs. The new atrium at the front only serves to rob the place of even more internal volume (I wonder what the local fire-officers would make of this?) I don't like going in there very much now because it's so cramped. Beer still good & cheap though & the staff, have certainly improved as some of the more 'surly' ones have been replaced by new members, but overall it's not a comfortable or desirable place to be in. A real shame.

As usual JD Wetherspoon is an icon! I'm a driver and I go all over greater London now I have been in more than 10 different JD's and I'm glad to say that is ALWAYS a great experience. Thank you very much 🙏

Usual Weatherspoon experience, if you have been to one you have been to all. The staff was nice and friendly.

We only came to this venue for a couple of drinks and to see the venue after the changes. Happy with our first pint but the service slowed as the evening progressed and we would love to know what is required to get the free drinks as the person did who seemed to know a number of staff?

Went here with a big group of trans people after we had finished a walk, bar staff all very friendly, other customers friendly too but I feel if they hadn't have been then the bar would have defended us and even when we were playing music outside staff were very nice the way they asked us to turn it off, I didn't use the facilities but heard from others that they are amazing I had a mini all day fry up and it was proper scrumptious

Looks much better after the renovation, However food was disappointing. Three large mixed grill's that were ordered all had issues! One was stone cold, Another missing sausages and the third missing an egg. Stupidly decided to order puddings and once again had missing items from dishes and nothing like described on the menu. I understand that Wetherspoons is designed around good value for money and I don't expect an exquisite dinning experience, I do however expect the kitchen staff to be capable of counting.

visited today around 11.30 with the intention of lunch with 2 friends .. done it before and enjoyed it.. not this time.. pub was crowded, tables squashed together and the noise level painful. We stuck it out and ordered food.... my friends meals both arrived .. but not mine.. had to chase it up and when it arrived , it wasnt what I had ordered.. could have complained , but by then my friends had finished their meals and time was getting on. Food ok.. but could have been hotter.... my chicken was luke warm but on the plus side, the chips ( I ordered salad) were lovely.

Things change here towards the evening, friendly atmosphere to hostile if you put a hat on to leave premises whilst still inside. A foreign security person said remove hat to my friend (who was black) you not go pass me until hat off 😳 even though raining outside. Then the female manager tried to deflate everything by saying it was their policy of no hats allowed to be worn in pub, even though I pointed out someone sitting nearby was drinking with one on (cap) this only caused more problems as the managers girlfriend stepped in aggressively which didn’t help tbh. Even some of the other doorman looked a bit bewildered by this and laughing to themselves when someone pointed out the foreign security person had only been on duty for less than an hour and started 3-4 arguments and it was only 6pm. Otherwise a normal day/night in Epsom 🍻

Came in for opening week for some food, the food and drinks were lovely and arrived very quickly. All the staff we very friendly and helpful, definitely would recommend coming here.

Was shut for refurbishment, Both Wetherspoons app and website said it was open. Cmon Tim, you can do better!!! I’m a Spoons fan with many carpet photos under my belt!

DON’T USE THIS PUB! I visited The Assembly Rooms in Epsom to have dinner. I arrived at about 20:55/21:00, and ordered food on the app at 21:12 to be exact. I then had the manager come over to me at about 21:25 asking me for ID which I didn’t have on me at the time. She said I can take my food boxed up or get a refund and then walked away. When I went inside, I asked for a refund which two other staff members were processing until the assistant manager came along and rudely pushed the food towards me saying I had to take it and go. I politely explained I didn’t wish to have my warm food to takeaway and didn’t ask for this, I came to have warm food on a plate and unfortunately couldn’t due to the policy not being clearly displayed on the premises. I didn’t order alcohol so the need to ID me was questionable however I can understand each franchise have their own rules. My friend and his girlfriend were served their alcoholic drinks and food, yet my friend didn’t provide his ID but was provided with his goods. This is clearly shown on your CCTV as you had view of our table. Apparently you take obligations under the equality act very serious, yet felt the need to take my money not provide the goods I asked for although my male friend was provided goods without being ID’d. I explained to this manager I have a life long disability which doesn’t allow me to walk far distances in which she replied ‘you can just go get it it’s down the road’, when my car was 10minutes away which is assuming I’m the same as every other person. If she has done training in vulnerable people, she should not assume I’m the same as everyone else and can walk these distances at ease. I received disgusting treatment and felt discriminated against due to my disability and sex. I was served my drink past 9pm and not served my food on a plate which I came out for and felt this was unfair. Any other place would refund my money in these circumstances but due to poor training, this staff member failed. As I was not allowed on the premises, my friend decided to finish her drink out the front of the building. The manager then ran out and snatched the jug out of my friends hand and assaulted my friend who is autistic and suffers with BPD which we can prove. Due to poor handling, the jug fell over the lady as she snatched it out her hand. The picture shows it’s down her right leg, not chucked all over her as she claimed, which was down to her assaulting a customer first!! Whetherspoons still allow this disgusting creature to work on their premises disregarding the assault and discrimination. I have attached an image below of the animal who attacked my friend outside of your premises and in the public space which I am allowed to do. Neither is she allowed to follow customers outside of your premises and take it upon herself to retrieve property. I have also attached an image following the assault after the ‘assistant manager’ attacked my friend retrieving the jug and cut her hand. Customer services are disgusting which is reflected upon their reviews, their response had no professionalism and was bias based on the true events of what happened. When speaking to Wetherspoons Epsom themselves, the assistant manager handled my complaint and not the manager running the site. Yet again, poor handling. The man I spoke with based his response on the managers events of what happened which was simply untrue and is reflected on my video evidence or my calm conversation and then surrounding video evidence on your property which shows no abuse was made towards your staff. The reason to decline my refund is still not clear and is based on opinion when I have video evidence proving otherwise. Wouldn’t use this pub in a million years, the fact this manager can’t even manage a Wetherspoons is embarrassing! Do better.

Was extremely busy ( was a friday night ) but got a seat, had to wait a while to get served bar staff never seem to know who's next .... but apart from that all good , lots seating out front now also .

Fast and friendly service but food could be better.

Normally okay, but tonight advertised close time is 1:00, so cab booked and paid for at 1:00. Got there at 11:20 and bouncer said no more entries as they were full, loads of empty tables visible inside. Guess I get to sit outside for 90 minutes as they don't want to meet their advertised hours. Hugely unimpressed. Bouncer was rude and aggressive, even though I just asked why.

Located in the centre of Epsom, spotlessly clean, and great atmosphere. First night there, was just after the England Euro match ( 20th June) Place packed solid. Two staff on table duty. Tables cleared, food served. How two staff could keep such a busy place going so efficiently is beyond words. If I owned a restaurant / pub I wouldn't hesitate to employ the staff on that night. Spent 4 days in Epson and had a Vegan breakfast each morning and my wife had Vegetarian. Great value and cooked to perfection, the only issue was the tomatoes, bland and tasteless. Maybe if halved and grilled or fried they would have then complemented the rest of the breakfast much better..

I have only visited this pub twice but do intend to go again it is in a great location at the end of the high street that has several street food stalls. The pub is a good standard wetherspoons and the staff are very polite and courteous when bringing food and drinks to the table. The food was great and the atmosphere is lively but not too loud. I would recommend this pub to anyone. Both my visits were on a Saturday afternoon. Thanks wetherspoons.

Lovely eggs Benedict and coffee for breakfast. Great value. Food served quickly. Wasn't too busy as it was a Monday morning. Toilets upstairs 🙂

Always a great experience in a Wetherspoons pub, a great choice of higher strength ales.

It's a wetherspoons so you get what is expected at the price point, but it was really busy and still very quick. Staff were on top of it all and it was all clean and tidy.

I didnt like the place. I wanted to buy a drink and they requested an ID, even though i said i am a transgender and that my id isnt changed yet. And because of surgery my face doesnt look the same so they didnt accept it. I just wanted to spent a night with my husband for our second anniversary…

The other day I went with my dad and they did not request an ID. Today I went with my sister and they did request it. If they request an ID, there should be consistency across all people. Ruined my night as I wanted to spend a nice time there with sister, but didn’t have and ID as last time they didn’t ask.

If I could give this a 0 I would. The staff where horrible and extreamly rude the maneger was even worse. The soft drinks were very watered down. The tables still had old food left on them ,seats were broken. No staff represented checking on service standards. Fish and chips had more oil on the plate than food the battered fish contained more batter than fish and the pizza lacked toppings and was thinner than paper all food was tasteless and horrendous overall . This place makes McDonald's look like a place for royalty. Avoid this place at all Costs it's not worth the money or time. That is this establishment can't comment for another

Pizzas had next to no toppings and covered in rocket to hide it. DIRTY GLASS still with lipstick on them. Manager has a massive chip on her shoulder and hates being proven wrong. Even when she knows she's wrong and dont let you finish what your saying. Bars anyone who challenges this. Totally unprofessional. Won't be returning to sadly my local pub. I love this place and cannot wait to return - the best spoons in the UK (I've been to nealy all of them). The waitress was super friendly and efficient - I really enjoyed my fried eggs, delicious 😋

Typical pub, very reasonable prices, good food and fast service! This time I ordered the fredo pasta to try other things 😁 but I definitely recommend the English breakfast and the typical fish and chips. There is unlimited coffee (normal, latte, mocca, etc.), just pay less than 2 pounds, they will give you a mug and you can use the machine. Without a doubt, a great pub and very affordable.

Always happy with everything when we eat here as a family....something for everyone. Nice pub environment. Good prices for food too.

Cheap. Lovely staff. Quite nice food can sometimes be hit and miss, however a good range of food and drink. Bar available. Always busy but usually space to sit. Good for groups, people on a budget, families and university students. Lovely toilet facilities but not always clean. Ramp makes it accessible for ♿️ however it is a little cramped inside so a wheelchair might find it difficult to get through.

I do visit this weatherspoons regularly such a beautiful building and must say I'm always impressed with the food and staff are outstanding 👌 All the Staff are Always more than happy to help it's always such a pleasure to visit a happy , well organised, clean establishment. Best weatherspoons around for sure.

Bad judgment coming in here from me. Tasteless food. Probably about 2 tablespoons worth of beans. Eggs that taste of nothing. Just a nothing breakfast. £12 down the drain.

Very busy when I visited and difficult to find a table

Nice big building in prominent Epsom position. The staff are fantastic, always polite and helpful and food arrives quickly, a lesson to how other restaurants should be. My only gripe is that they squeeze too many tables into the central area... it's horrible having people barging past all the time. They should utilise the space they have upstairs to make more restaurant areas, especially the library that adjoins the ladies loos, which seems wasted. All in all though, I'm always recommending Epsom spoons.

Well they need more staff a and the staff they have need better socal skills and learn to smile. Good door staff and atmosphere was ok.

Food was mediocre the staff are in shambles. I've seen better staff in a nursing home that deal with customers than in here food was warmish beer was flatter than the flat earth society but apart from that it was interesting.

Last minute decision to stop for food as we were passing by. Saturday night, so extremely busy and very loud but despite this drinks & food didn't take too long to arrive. Food decent - consistent with any Wetherspoon pub.

Another nice meal and at great value. Great price for the main course which included a glass of wine. Busy place as usual but the service was quite quick considering how busy it was. All our 5 meals were very tasty and plenty of it.

I came here to have a drink and finish off some work one evening. I ordered fish and chips and a beer, but the beer was delivered cloudy. I asked to exchange it at the beer and the bar maid was very rude and hesitant to exchange, claiming it’s meant to look like that?! It most certainly isn’t and luckily another man stood at the bar backed me up. Eventually and very begrudgingly she exchanged the beer, but clearly has a lack of bar knowledge and people skills. Later, I needed to charge my laptop and was asked to remove my charger as it could be a tripping hazard… I left shortly after. It just seemed like too much hassle for a grotty and overcrowded Spoons full of drunks before the evening had even begun. I haven’t been back since and wouldn’t recommend visiting.

Good pub food with bottomless coffee

A really soulless pub as most wetherspoons are, but the food came out quickly and was delicious. The bacon and hash browns were exceptional. You can't quibble over the price either.

Really enjoyed my breakfast at The Assembly Rooms. Smart, clean, and pleasant atmosphere.

Food was good value, and I think it would've tasted great if it was hot, but it wasn't. The situation was made much worse by us having to sit in the middle of the main room where the air conditioning hits hardest and it's between the two main doors. We actually put our coats on while we ate! Staff were great. The atmosphere was friendly and ok but full of loud background chatter, as the decor is quite stark, so noise bounces off everything;I imagine that it's much better here when it's less crowded.

Very poor service. Service time on app says 8 mins. Actual time 35mins. Very young and hopeless staff. No accompanying sauce. They said sorry, it'll be 10mins. Meal, no sauce??!! Come on spoons - accurate website and trained staff would be useful. I guess if you pay peanuts, you get......

First time there, better than expected

I always pop in to The Assembly Rooms for lunch when I'm in Epsom. A good pub food menu and your meal comes with a drink of your choice . . . all for a tenner!! The service is very good and the food is great for the price.

A great location, food is as you'd expect for the price point it's great. Cheapest alcoholic drinks around, staff are nice and friendly - interior does feel a bit like a cafeteria but ultimately it's a nice place to have a drink on the cheap.

Met for lunch with Friends..relaxed friendly atmosphere. Great choice of food and drinks..I went for the alcohol free Stella Artois..it was really good..Staff were great too 👍 also the Chicken Strips Burger was amazing 😋

I don't normally like Wetherspoons pubs, but this one in Epsom is the best of them in the area. It has amazing toilets, so big, so clean, so comfortable to use. Food is as you'd expect, nothing special but cheap and quick. Love the new addition of the espresso martini and ordering from the table is way easier than waiting at the bar.

Great value for drinking here and a good lively atmosphere. The table service from the app/qr code worked brilliantly. The staff were very helpful. The food was shocking! How can you produce a cheeseburger worse than McDonalds?! Absolutely shocking quality burger, the chips were fine. I promise never to eat here again 👍.

One of the nicest Spoons that I have visited. Great breakfast to set me up for the day.

Food is dry, half cooked or cooked, and then kept in the fridge, then reheating and served. Service?... are too young and without experience ,they don't realise how it is to work under pressure sometimes. Atmosphere?.. to much noise ..

Everything is done by QR scanner which works well however takes awhile to place your order. Food was excellent and the beers were awesome. Just took forever to order through the qr code

Buzzy environment. It was Friday night. We love the chips and chicken wings. Delicious.

An old, cozy, traditional English restaurant. Delicious and inexpensive food. Always crowded. The only thing missing is background music.

Very posh Wetherspoons. The building dates from the 17th century when it was a coffee shop and bear baiting pit! It’s now one of the most middle class Wetherspoons you’re ever likely to find. They have a wine list and cocktail menu!!! Order using the app to get table service. Dogs not allowed. Kids welcome.

Not one of the best weatherspoons, ordered scrambled eggs on toast and got bread with chopped up poached eggs, also got a breakfast and instead of fried eggs got again chopped up poached eggs, nobody came to ask if the food was OK, no surprise in that as they knew what the answer would be. Real shame as these pubs are very good for value.

The only thing that lets it down is a lack of music, but otherwise a lovely weatherspoons!

I came here for brunch over the weekend, plenty of seats and a nice weather-spoons to visit. It’s easy to order by app or till, and the breakfast came out quick and hot. Very good value for money!

still worth the price despite the increase in inflation, it is not off-putting like other pubs, it has a bright interior and the Xmas decoration looks very nice, also pleasant for families I recommend everything on the menu because the food is very tasty

Well, Wetherspoons is Wetherspoons and like Marmite, you either...etc. However, I like it, and The Assembly Rooms is basically great. It is spacious with a good atmosphere. It is also very busy and often understaffed to the degree that uncleared tables are often a feature. Despite that, food seems to be delivered in an amazingly short time, so we'll done overall. In conclusion, I look forward to going there.

Very wide choice of Good food at lower than average prices. Efficient pleasant service . They thoroughly deserve the money they receive , in Every respect.

Dreadful service. Staff very rude. Anarchic atmosphere. Need more staff on a Saturday. Militant attitude with staff. Only Epsom have I experienced this behaviour. No respect for customer. Not the first time I have been tongue lashed and laughed at. Horrendous. Manager rude.

Nice Wetherspoons. Historic old building. Plenty od searing inside and outside. Cheap prices. Clean toilets. Good place.
