Great pub and garden excellent bar lady, unfortunately unable to rate food as new owner's do not yet have kitchen open. I have since tried the weekday lunch menu which was very tasty, I will try the Sunday lunch when available. I have since my first review visited many times and can absolutely recommend the food and the live music events

We held my 50th birthday here. The owners, Jodie and George, were fantastic and went above and beyond. They made my guest feel welcome and did a fantastic job making sure everything ran smoothly. The buffet food provided was lovely with plenty to go around . Quite a lot of my guests were locals who had not been here in years and really liked the recent refurb. Thank you for a wonderful night.

Function - I booked this pub for a small 50th birthday celebration. We had a fabulous time and my guest were very impressed with the food and recent refurb. Many had visited years ago and remember it being very dark and in need of TLC...now everyone comented on how lovely it looks. We had a buffet, and the food was lovely, so much on offer, Jodie and her team couldnt be more accommodating. I wish her and the team all the best and every success for the future. The homemade curry and coleslaw was amazing.

Went to the Eight Bells for the first time on Sunday afternoon to meet friends and family. Nice, tidy clean pub, we had some food that was value for money, and enjoyed the music that was laid on by two more than capable musicians. Bar staff welcoming. Adults and children all seemed to be enjoying themselves - nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Will go back!

The Eight Bells is our local pub but we haven't been in there for ages as it had gone downhill over the last few years. But on Sunday afternoon we went there to see some live music performed by our friend. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised. We were aware it was under new management and the pub now looks really smart, it had a great atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly. We will definitely go back again soon.

The Eight Bells never fails to impress my friends and I. We had an awesome time as the new owners are trying really hard to provide all the elements of a good time well spent. The singer and guitarist was superb and I will be raving about him to anyone that asks. The ale was splendid and we enjoyed the family atmosphere that was being shared by all. We'll be back for more lazy Sunday afternoon magic!

Food overpriced for a Sainsbury's microwavable meals? Drinks flat and mostly unavailable 😐 A line is £20 so not to shabby although doing it in a toilet that smells like half dead cat covered in pickle juice isn't ideal But at least you can get a free scrap with the dealers for no reason so that a plus?

As a previous regular I was in shock last night as I took my fiancé and her 2 friends here for a few drinks. We were accosted by a friend of the landlady who would not leave the lady’s alone. I repeatedly told the bar staff who asked him to move away this had no effect whatsoever. To the point that he became aggressive, extremely rude and my female friends felt threatened and upset. When we came to leave the landlady decided to tell us what we did wrong sticking up for her friend to the point she was drunk and screaming and swearing at the ladies, disgraceful and disgusting behaviour. IF YOU WANT TO FEEL UNSAFE AND IN PHYSICAL DANGER LADIES, THIS IS THE PUB FOR YOU!! Professionalism doesn’t exist in here. Green kings, watch the CCTV footage. Friday the 26th of January 2024 from 9:30pm till close. I expect appropriate action to be taken.

As visitors to Epsom we came over the threshold and had a wonderful welcome from the new management of the Eight Bells in early evening busyness. Immediately the relaxed atmosphere was clear. There is a wonderful selection of beers and ales in a pub aiming to develop quickly. The kitchen is being referbed ( hopefully sorted very soon) but Stacey was happy for us to order in and ensure we had plates, etc. Lorna and Sean also ensured we were well looked after. It's in a family friendly environment and plans for barbeque, music nights etc.

Went for a drink after dinner on 29 May. 2023 with a friend. Was not impressed with the waitresses who were both munching on food, then not cleaning their fingers to serve our draft beers. There were also boys, aged around 9, who were noisily running around the pub with their dads shouting after them. This was at 9pm! Overall gave an impression of unhygienic and unwelcome ambience.

Visited very recently on a Sunday lunchtime & was really disappointed . There were empty glasses strewn across the bar as we entered obviously from the night before so alarm bells started ringing. We ordered a couple of drinks ( dirty wine glass ) & asked to see the menu. Sunday lunch which we didn't want so ordered a couple of sides spicy chips & squid rings. Both just about edible but thought we might be ill later. Went to sit out in the garden which used to be very nice but has deteriorated with rotting tables & hard seats. A few umbrellas but most had seen better days. As we stepped out onto the grass there was a large deposit of dog muck which was disgusting & unsightly. There's was small pieces of shredded paper every where. A family clean up party had just started to sort out but this should have been done prior to opening. I've been coming to this pub off & on for nearly 30 years & this is bar far the worst experience. Greene King area director needs to get round & sort out asap. I know for fact M&B wouldn't put up with this in one of their pubs.

So before we start I LOVE the bells and coke here every week for a cheeky Guinness whilst on my dog walk. I have reviewed the pub before but this is a review solely based on the food. We decided to eat here for my birthday treat and I’ll start by saying that the menu is good and has a varied amount of dishes on it. But maybe this might be a bad thing in the long term, it may be better to have fewer items and do them better than have loads of choice and do them averagely I ordered the steak pie as I had seen one ordered before and noted that it was a proper pie and not an enamel dish with a puff lid. The pie was superb, cooked well and very tasty. My only issue is when it was served I was told there was no tenderstem broccoli so I got given sweetcorn and peas, I notice on another review here that this happened to them as well so that’s disappointing. Everything else was fine, honest pub fayre, it did take a little while for the dishes to arrive and it wasn’t very busy while we were there but that’s fine not a deal breaker for us. My one REAL major gripe and I know this is pedantic as it’s a pub. BUT we were sat by the kitchen door and the staff were swearing at each other, not in a nasty or angry way, but I’ve two kids with me that should be kept inside the kitchen or when there is obviously no kids around. Lastly again I wish to say how much I love the bells as a pub, I might just think twice about ordering food for a bit.

I’ve been coming to the bells on and off for years as a local resident of Ewell, I’ve seen it undergo many transformations and this one I really hope has a chance of sticking. Polite friendly staff make the bells a pleasure to walk into now, before it used to be intimidating, as if you were walking into the locals front room and drinking from their private fridge. If your face didn’t fit you weren’t accepted. Totally different now. The food, which has always been standard fair looks far superior now, haven’t eaten there yet since the redo but we will. I’ve seen the pie and chips being eaten and it looked quality. One thing that always tells you how a pub is run is the quality of their Guinness. And this has a beautiful pint. Good slow draw and you can tell the lines are clean. Have only been in on Sundays so far so will come back during the week to check it out then. But for my money at least one of the best pubs in the area now ( dog and kid friendly too)

Went for a drink this evening, on entering landlord was rather curt- not a great start. Sat in garden and were serenaded by some rather drunk patrons, yes we could have left, but landlord did nothing to ask them to tone it down- poor neighbours. When it came to closing time we were told twice that we had to leave by 10, nobody else was. Drunken patrons were quieter when a group of men were sitting outside. If I were new to the area and was looking for a local pub I would not be back. I'm not new to the area and I certainly won't be stepping foot in the pub for a very long time.

We came here at the end of a dog walk and wanted to see what the new manager had done with the place, and we were pleasantly impressed. We had a chat with the new landlord, sorry we didn’t ask your name, and he’s really trying to turn this bar into what it should be, a place where all can come and drink and relax in their community. Wanna play darts, pool and watch football there’s a bar for that, wanna sit and drink with family or in nice surroundings on your own? There’s a bar for that. Please whatever you thought of the bar before come down and try it out now, they’re really making the effort to make sure they cater for all whilst removing some of the stigma of yesteryear, it can only do this if we all do our bit and keep them thriving.

Excellent choices and generous portions. We sat outside which was lovely, however the restaurant looked very well presented and I would highly recommend for special occasion or even casual event. Staff were exceptional, attentive ( not too in your face) and polite. Lovely toilets. Only downside was it’s too far for me to travel frequently - would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful lunch with friends. The food was excellent, as was the service and table position. We were never hurried and the whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable.
