Brought my girlfriend for drinks in the garden and nice weather, amazing atmosphere and beautiful scenery. Had a great young lad who served me on the bar outside and the service felt genuine and with great care. Regular check ups and table service , couldn’t ask for more. Would definitely recommend to anyone on a sunny afternoon for drinks. ( I had to ask the name of the young gentleman as his service was so great , look out for rudy if you get the chance!!)

Top notch afternoon tea in a relaxing, impressive setting. From the quality of the food to the first class service, I cannot fault this place for afternoon tea. Nothing was too much trouble and the extra care they take from the choice of savouries to the delicious cakes is first class. Would highly recommend.

Afternoon tea at the Assembly House is always an exceptional experience! We had the 'Hare Comes Easter' tea today, and it was absolutely divine, with the best opera cake they've ever made! The team are so accommodating for allergens and preferences, and make it seem as though nothing is too much bother for them. Our waiter today was Ollie, and he treated us like royalty. We will always go back to The Assembly House!

Just had the most amazing afternoon tea. It was the Easter themed one and was absolutely delicious, there was so much to eat we had to bring some home in boxes!! I'm gluten free and my tea was exactly the same content and quality as the normal one, what an extraordinary change from receiving the same as others but with things left off! The staff are amazing, attentive and helpful, the building is lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be back

Whilst this looks to be a lovely place , we were most disappointed with the gift voucher policy and lack of customer care and compassion We moved to Norfolk from the midlands in August 2024 . A friend purchased a £70 gift voucher for afternoon tea previously in anticipation of the move , as a treat to enjoy once we had settled in During the move we misplaced the voucher due to email account and document storage changes and found it just after Christmas in mid January 2025 Sadly it had expired on12 Dec 2024 I contacted the hotel to explain and ask for an extension or token voucher recognising that we had misplaced during our house move Whilst the member of staff who dealt with me was very polite and professional, the management team would offer no extension or even a token voucher as a good will gesture This was hugely disappointing given the amount originally gifted by our friends was significant (£70) and this clearly would have been added into the organisations profit line With no option for us to enjoy it as originally intended Therefore ,whist it looks to be a lovely place , on principle we will neither visit nor recommend to others . Some kindness and flexibility would have been greatly appreciated

We were invited to a surprise 50th birthday party here, so my other half booked rooms for us & his dad & his wife. We had room 16, which was massive & luxurious & fantastic . They had room 12, floor below, equally luxurious & beautiful. Service fabulous… especially for our mindblowingly great Peter Pan afternoon tea delivered room service to his dad’s room for the 4 of us! Particular mention too for Gina, front of house at breakfast time, such a lovely lady! Made us feel so welcome & such a professional! Stunning hotel, so much history! 100% recommend!

Arrived to find that the open lounge area was cordoned off as there was an event happening elsewhere, despite the information board at the entrance to the building stating that it was available for tea/coffee and scones. Told no tables available so unable to accommodate us. Little did we know that my sister was sitting in the room to the side of the entrance hall on a table waiting for us and had asked the receptionist that she was expecting two sisters and could they let them know where she was. She did not have a mobile phone on her at the time. Stood outside waiting for sister (who was sitting inside waiting for us) for half an hour before we eventually met up after my other sister went back inside asking if she could check the room to the side. We ate elsewhere. Thanks for ruining my birthday treat! Stress I could have done without. I feel standards have dropped since the departure of Richard Hughes, who was so understanding and caring. I often popped in for a light lunch, not so sure that I would bother now as I would not want to find myself in this position again.

It was not made clear at the time of booking that room 11 was not suitable for a person of a taller nature, it was only when we arrived and shown our room that this was the case, you can find this info on line if you look up the specific room, but people don't generally do this, my husband got a rather large egg oh his head after hitting it on the beam, this must be made more clear at the time of booking, see my headless husband below 😂

70th birthday surprise, setting is nice but it was a themed tea so set menu which was average for the price (£300) with a few extra drinks for 7 guests for a cold buffet not sure it adds up. The Staff are very polite but apparently you could choose from a separate menu if you didn’t want the afternoon tea, this was not offered until I asked later to which the waitress apologised, to late by then. All in all as a 1 off different but don’t think a revisit is on the cards.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the assembly house. The only 2 things that let it down. We arrived at 19:40 with door locked, rang the ring doorbell, no one answered and rang the numbers online with no one answering. My partner managed to get another number and eventually was met by a member of staff. The second thing was the breakfast. The service by the waitresses were great, however our food came and it was cold, the hollandaise sauce was shop bought. We were rather disappointed after paying £166 for one night.

We had the most magical afternoon at the Assembly House Norwich, enjoying their enchanting Christmas Igloo Afternoon Tea. The moment we stepped into the beautifully decorated igloo, we felt like we'd entered a winter wonderland. The afternoon tea itself was exquisite, with a delightful selection of finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats, all expertly crafted and presented. The festive flavors and ingredients added to the seasonal charm. But what truly made this experience special was the unique and cozy setting. The igloo was snug, intimate, and perfectly decorated for the holiday season, complete with twinkling lights, festive greenery, and plush blankets to keep us warm and toasty. The service was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who ensured our teacups were always full and our needs were met with a smile. We were treated to the Nutcracker afternoon tea by our business associates this December, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I've had. Every single thing was perfect, from the excellent customer service we received from the young waitress and waiter, to the food, and the ambience. We had the afternoon tea in the outside pod, which was kept regulated heat-wise, and they even had a Bluetooth speaker so that we could play music! The food needs a whole paragraph to itself! It looked beautiful, and every single item on those plates were delicious. The little white chocolate nutcracker were so cute. I asked the waitress (I'm sorry that I didn't remember her name) which items had onion in so that I could avoid them, as onion makes me very ill. She insisted that she would get the chef to make those items separately for me, minus the onion. They didn't have to do that, but it meant i didn't miss out on the tasty food. I have no criticism at all, the staff are a credit to the business. Very attentive and we never had to wait for anything. I will be returning for more afternoon tea, and after telling my cousins in Berkshire about it they're coming up after christmas to join us!

We wasn’t offered any other drinks throughout our afternoon tea and I would have thought we would at least be offered tea. Most places offer that as standard throughout and are cheaper. 2 adult afternoon teas, 1 child afternoon tea, 2 cokes and a hot chocolate cake to just over £99 which I feel is very expensive However it is presented pretty.

Took my friend for her birthday. We had a lovely evening with a Wallow platter to share, which was fab, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed having time to chat and bring able taste the wine before we had the whole glass was great.

Really friendly and welcoming. They heated my pain au raisin in the microwave! which I’m not sure did it any favours. But they were trying to go the extra mile which was very much appreciated and I will definitely return and would recommend others to try this little personable cafe out.

I stopped in quickly because I saw they had good gluten free options online, and it made my whole day. The staff were so lovely, coffee was delicious, and I should've ordered 10 of those muffins. Couldn't rate this higher 💕

We walk into the city weekly, the departure lounge is always our first stop. The main reason is, in my opinion it’s the best coffee in the city. We do not eat often but the food we have had is always good The current owner is a nice guy who always chats .
