Departure Lounge in Norwich

We walk into the city weekly, the departure lounge is always our first stop. The main reason is, in my opinion it’s the best coffee in the city. We do not eat often but the food we have had is always good The current owner is a nice guy who always chats .

Great bacon panini, nice friendly people, inexpensive. What more do you want?

I visited the Departure Lounge Cafe in Norwich and I really liked it! The cafe is a nice place where you can get drinks and snacks. We had a latte and a cappuccino. They were both very good, especially cappuccino that was frothy and smooth. The best part was the brownie. It was super delicious! They warmed it up for me, and it was gooey and chocolatey. The cafe was pretty quiet. There wasn't any music, which would have made it more fun. But the place was still nice. Overall, I had a good time at Departure Lounge Cafe.

A relaxed environment. The food was delicious! It was all freshly made and you can certainly tell. Great presentation, simple but effective! If I didn't live so far away, I'd definitely dine here again.

Nice sandwiches, coffee and toasties, but just not in a nice area, with the smell of cannabis from people walking down Prince of Wales Road.

This cafe is very conveniently located near the train station. Nice open seating area with tables and a view of the street outside. Scrambled eggs over toast was a great breakfast with a latte chaser. Would recommend.

We popped in on our way to the station and unfortunately were very disappointed with our visit. I ordered a smoothie and avocado with eggs on toast. My partner ordered a mocha and a bacon panini. The mocha came timely and the coffee was good. I waited for my smoothie for over 20 minutes. The food came about 15 minutes after we ordered, I was initially disappointed with the avocado and eggs just from the appearance. There was no seasoning on the smashed avocado, it was just plain. There had been no seasoning on the eggs and the yolk wasn’t runny at all. The bread was just your basic hovis white toastier bread and it hadn’t been buttered either. The bacon panini said it came with either tomato / onion or Brie and cranberry. When it arrived it was just a plain panini, not buttered, with bacon inside. No sauce, no garnish and no fillings as it was advertised like. The waiter brought the food and then walked away - not asking if we needed anything else such as salt, pepper or sauce. My partner went to the counter to ask about the fillings in the panini and was told he had to ask for them (I think they should have asked when we ordered), he then asked if they had any hot sauce or ketchup and the waiter looked at him like he had just insulted the guy - he hadn’t and he asked very politely. No hot sauce but they had ketchup and he brought ‘cranberry chutney’ which tasted like raspberry jam. The food was edible but it really wasn’t very nice, the most basic you could pass for serving. Not only were we very disappointed with the food but the service was poor. The people were nice they just weren’t very attentive or timely with serving us as customers. Definitely wouldn’t return to this place and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Visited before the football with my 5 year old son, great food, the sausage rolls, smoothie and carrot cake were great. The staff were really friendly. The loo wasn’t great however (probably a sign lots of men had stopped prior to football), but as it’s a shared loo, and ladies have to use it too, it does let it down.

A nice place to grab food and a good coffee before catching a train. Quite a variety of options and they offer alternative milks.

Staff seemed very moody. Had to ask for the bottle tops to be removed and were given dirty glasses. The best bit about it was the smiley child that came over to say hello.

This is a nice local business with friendly owners. They do a great cup of coffee (you can also have your drink with almond or oat milk) and they always have a few cakey treats for vegans. I can recommend the flat white!

Basic coffee shop . Decent size coffee and croissant ( heated) for reasonable price. Not overly busy, staff helpful and courteous. Premises clean, not in the most pleasant of areas in Norwich but close to station .

We called in here before catching a train. Lovely coffee shop. Nice and clean. Lovely staff. I had hot chocolate, and cake, both were delicious.

Lots of space and not over priced. But sadly that's all the good that can be said. Coffee was luke warm service was slow and just no atmosphere. Even some music playing quietly in the background would have been better.

Stay away from Starbucks, Costa, and the other chain's. Right here is an excellent coffee shop with wonderful coffee, food, and a friendly staff.

Great atmosphere! Definitely the best latte in Norwich! Tried the Greek baguette and was delicious! Cafe extremely clean and staff very friendly . Will definitely come back!

Great coffee I fell in in love with this cute café and its staff the first time I popped in. Vast variety of snacks and beverages, vegetarian option available, very nice and welcoming atmosphere.

Popped in for a coffee with time to kill. The price for the coffee was a bit high and then the extra 50p for soya milk was way too much.

Recently visited Norwich for the first time and discovered this cafe as i have been told about their tasty coffee . And it is probably the best coffee in Norwich Very clean cafe with baby change station available .

It's ok as a coffee shop, the gentleman behind the counter was not very welcoming. The extra charge of soy milk for 50p was a bit much so we went elsewhere as we needed to kill time and have a few coffees.

I really can't see this place lasting very long, too far off the beaten track but service was good and coffee OK if a tad pricey for the area.

Friendly and efficient service. The coffee is particularly good and the salmon and cream cheese bagel with rocket is a real treat.

Spacious cafe with sockets. Very convenient and close to the train station. Bad coffee, though. This may be just my bad luck, but my coffee came very burnt and bitter that I couldn't finish it. The price was reasonable and service was friendly. A lot of seats both inside and outside, great for working on laptop. The cafe offers hot food like toasties too.

Great little café with plug sockets in the corner. Good service, well made up tables and some small decorations. We sat in there for two or so hours while waiting for some friends to turn up, and they were very inviting. Their Oreo Milkshake was quite moreish, and their prices are very reasonable. They're positioned well for where they are considering that the Costa opposite the train station is now gone. Good Café to watch the world go by in.

Recommend for friendly service and alternative to hotel breakfasts! Coffee so tasty I went back for a second cup. The area outside may not look the prettiest but so glad we stepped inside. Thoroughly recommend.

I had noticed this cafe near the station before coming to visit Norwich, so I came to the door full of hope at 7.45 only to discover that they open at 8, which was when my train left. The barista preparing the shop still welcomed me in, let me order a coffee and offered to prepare hot food. He was very patient and never appeared bothered to serve a customer outside of opening hours. The coffee was good but at that point it was irrelevant. 5 stars of course.

Great place to get a celebratory coffee after passing your driving theory test! Located just down the street.

It would nice if there was a proper menu board or individual menus rather than a few A4 sheets stuck to the wall right next to the counter. I just felt rushed into ordering the first thing I saw. Despite that, this is a clean, contemporary cafe with a simple continental menu. Friendly staff.

Veggies be careful... Ordered the Eggs and Avocado on toast but the plate came to the table with bacon on it. Apparently it comes with bacon as standard however no where on the menu says this information and it was not declared at the point of ordering. Double check the unlisted items before paying. Good location though and friendly helpful staff. Menu needs alterations...

We visited as a couple and stayed in the Travelodge up the road. We came in just by chance and really enjoyed what we had. Bagel and avocado, ham and bacon omelette one day and fried eggs on toast the next. The coffee was fresh and the food was really lovely. Service was as quick as could be without being too fast, so we knew the food was fresh cooked. My only bit of constructive feedback was when I asked for eggs and bacon I was told it wasn't on the menu, yet the menu had a bacon omelette on it, so it could have been cooked. But it's not a problem, just a little feedback. Would definitely return and recommend. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Such a hidden gem! If you're around Prince of Wales or near the station it's a must-visit. Great tasting coffee and paninis and the service is top class. Hoping to see it open again soon.

I come to this coffee house almost daily. The coffee is great, the baked goods are delicious and the staff are beyond friendly. There's no reason you shouldn't come here

New management. The menu is bigger but the omlette isn't as good as before. It's a nice atmosphere. Worth another chance

A friendly, well located cafe. The coffee was excellent and the menu very good value and interesting. Mid-morning offer between 10:30 and 11:30 is 2 hot drinks for the price of 1!! Certainly worth popping in.

It has become my favourite place to have a few delicious treats while studying. Wide variety of paninis and cakes. Friendly staff. Fast wifi connection. Still haven't tried their bacon roll yet but definitely will next time x

We held the Canaries Trust Board meet and greet their, really nice people and laid everything out really well. Great coffee and food.

Simple and clean. Only popped in for a drink and we were the only ones in despite it being lunch time -I couldn’t see why it was so quiet! Perhaps it is the location and it being a Saturday when the nearby school was closed. But a good place to get refreshed before a walk along the river.

I came in based on the sign outside that said "Probably Best Bacon Roll in the World". I took this in jest but thought a place had some nerve to say that out of the blue, so I went in and ordered this bacon roll. Wow! It was perfect. The simplicity of it still baffles me. A soft, floured chiabata roll, toasted with a layer of bacon and my choice of sauce lightly spread over it. The result was heavenly and easily one of the best bacon sandwiches I have ever had. I will certainly be returning.

Visitamos dos rollos de tocino y dos cafés. El café era bight y espacioso. Había un grupo de 4 adultos y 2 niños frente a nosotros. Ya habían ordenado y estaban sentados esperando. Menciono esto, ya que tomó más de 5 minutos para conseguir nuestros cafés (muy bien) y otros 20 minutos para los rollos de tocino a com. Eran geniales y valían la pena el dinero. Para cuando llegaron, todo nuestro café se había ido. Había personal, pero difícil de entender cómo podía llevar tanto tiempo.

Este es uno de los mejores lugares en Norwich para una gama de cafés y otras bebidas de alta calidad. . . mucho mejor que Costa, etc. .La comida está recién hecha y utiliza productos locales tanto como sea posible. !Excelente ubicación y muy útil para recoger algo si está de viaje y también es bueno para sentarse y relajarse o ponerse al día con amigos y colegas. . .¡El súper ambiente y el servicio siempre parecen venir con una sonrisa! !Muy recomendable. . .

Went there for breakfast, the bacon roll was the best we've ever had! Good quality of bread, bacon and chutney. Nice place inside too. Coffee was ok.

Popped in for coffee and decided to have a bacon roll as well. Pried at £6.25 it was a little steep. Coffee cup seemed empty and small in comparison to other places. Hope the bacon roll was freshly cooked, but who knows. Food was tasty but bacon roll is a bacon roll. I probably not use again due to price.

Visited your cafe, and I have to say the service was really good, decent food portions and all reasonably priced. Better customer service than you get in these chains like Costa and Pret. I would certainly visit again when next time in the area.

Friendly and good quality coffee

Popped in for a caramel iced frappe. The owner was saying it's the best coffee in Norwich. I was a bit disappointed that my frappe did not have whipped cream on the top ( I've only had a McDonald's previously and that did) but I must agree with him , the taste was excellent. The food looked good and the table areas were clean and stylish. All in all a very nice coffee house 👍😀

£4.25 for a fantastic bacon roll with optional homemade chutney makes this a great place for a relaxing breakfast treat. £2.40 for a great flat white.

This place is excellent! There is always a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and the food is delicious. Great selection of sandwiches and soups with plenty of vegetarian options and I highly recommend the cakes!

Friendly staff and the tea was great. Billed as the best bacon roll in the world, or at least Norfolk, it lived up to the billing absolutely gorgeous.
