Went in for a few drinks recently and I’m so pleased I did! We were served by Maisy who gave us some great recommendations of things to do in the area. Will definitely be back!

Very busy Sunday, slight wait on food but worth it, friendly staff, Daisy and Maisie brought our food out and made sure we were all sorted and set!

My husband and I visited this pub for the first time in years on Wednesday, and had such a lovely experience that we returned on the Friday with our 2 boys. The experience with our 2 boys was even better as the staff were so lovely with them (one of my boys insisted I write a review telling people how great the place is). I fully recommend this place based on the experience of the food, service and atmosphere; specifically the beer garden which was glorious when the sun was shining!

Had a lovely dinner here the other day, with my wife. Food was great, and the vibe very chilled. Was very well looked after by our waitress Maisie, who couldn't have been more charming. Thanks Maisie, and thanks The Ashton

Went into the Ashton and Jade welcomed me and my family and was so kind. She was very helpful and respectful with our allergies. Recommended some lovely dishes and very good service. Would definitely come back again.

Stopped by The Ashton for a Sunday roast and had such a great experience. I have a couple of dietary things that can sometimes be a pain, but Liv was so understanding and really went out of her way to help. The whole vibe was warm and relaxed, and you can tell it’s a well-run place. Really impressed.

I just visited the Ashton and it was a delightful experience! The menu had a great variety, and I opted for the surf and turf, which was absolutely outstanding—full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly welcoming and ensured we felt right at home. Harry our waiter was very insightful and recommended some good dishes! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable meal. Can't wait to go back!

Great place for food and drinks!

I came for a pub lunch here with the girlies and it was absolutely terrific! The vibes were vibing and my server jade was absolutely amazing! Very attentive and helpful. Food was also tasty keep it up guys 😃

George and Harry were extremely accommodating, made our night far more enjoyable. So lovely to have communicative bar staff, it meant we all left with a smile on our face.

For the same price other places in Bristol give much more food on the plate. The food itself is tasty, well seasoned, but sirloin pieces were wafer thin, half a carrot and half parsnip seemed a bit like a joke whereas other pubs in Bristol give cauliflower, more veg on the plate and thicker slices of meat. That just seemed overpriced for crumbs

Starting to become a regular! Lovely little pub, good location, clean and cosy inside. Extremely dog friendly - the water bowls / dog facilities are greatly appreciated! Really friendly and quick service and not to mention the best cocktails! We are yet to try the food but it looks incredible, will be back again very soon 😊

Lovely place to go for food and drink after a walk round Ashton court. Great service from the lad at the bar, George. Me and my mates had a good laugh with him. I had the halloumi burger and it didn't disappoint! Would highly recommend and definitely will be returning soon!!

Very disappointed in the quality of the roast DINNER I visited on Sunday and was expecting for the price £20+ that it cost to be delicious, but it was very under whelming with one carrot a few hard potatoes and cold kale and peas... I wouldn't be able to recommend it to be honest as the service was pretty poor😕

Today we had Sunday lunch at The Ashton. We booked a table. This is the second time we have eaten at this pub. Last time was in between Christmas and New Year. Food was excellent and our waiter, Harry, was superb. I ordered the superfood salad which was absolutely delicious but a little small. I mentioned to Harry and he came from the kitchen with some more leaves, cucumber and dressing. He didn’t have to do that but went above and beyond. The pub was very busy and Harry, and colleagues, were very busy managing a number of tables. Harry was calm, professional and nothing was too much trouble. He’s a credit to the pub. We will definitely be back.

Took 45 minutes for a sandwich which was too hard and poor quality. Would avoid and not recommend to others.

Came for a roast, was heaving but the staff were amazing. Special mentions to Daisy and Jade for bringing our food out efficiently and making sure everything was alright. Food was delicious, I went for the roast chicken and it exceeded my expectations!

We arrived for lunch at 12 with kids but the food was not brought out until 1.10. Someone began tidying or table after food but never returned. In the end we walked out without ordering dessert which upset the children. This was at 2.15. Clearly too many tables and not enough staff.

Unfortunately a really disappointing experience on an unseasonably sunny Sunday afternoon, clearly understaffed. After battling to get parked (allowing non customers to park for a fee presumably why car park is so overrun), we waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged and then told our booked table in the restaurant was unavailable due to backlog. Staff was not apologetic but offered either a wait or to be seated in bar area with bar service. With kids in tow we opted for the latter, which then meant a lengthy queue for our drinks, then food, then pudding (the latter of which we actually abandoned after being told how long the wait would be to receive the puds). Food was average - slightly cremated veg on the roasts probably symptomatic of our 3pm booking, albeit served promptly. On the plus side, staff did an excellent job of accommodating an allergy which was appreciated, and decor and ambience generally good. Had been looking to try this pub for years living in Bristol but sadly can’t recommend, at least not on a busy weekend.

First visit and food was absolutely delicious and really lovely staff serving us.

My wife and I went for dinner, she got a meal with someone else's hair on the plate, I ordered bacon, the slow sugar was as hard as the sole of a shoe, the wine glasses were dirty and the beer glasses were the same. And the wine bar was full of dust on the shelves, as if they hadn't been wiped for 2 years. The chairs were also dirty, I don't recommend it.

It was a fab visit, Harry was so accommodating, and Rae & Charlie gave us so many laughs. We will definitely be coming back. Cheers for the beers there!

Had lunch 6 people of all different ages today . Everyone’s meal was good and staff were helpful and even helped to save me money. Would recommend especially the lunchtime Chicken pie on the specials menu! Good choice for our vegetarian friend as well.

I've been to the Ashton before and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. This visit was so disappointing because my husband and I don't go out that often, The positives... The staff were lovely. The atmosphere and decor are excellent. When we let them know the issues with our Sunday lunch they brought more (supposedly) hot gravy. The staff apologised and took the price of one meal off the bill. The negatives... After our drinks and beef croquettes (which were boiling hot and delicious) came we had to wait 50 minutes for our Sunday roasts. When they arrived they were luke warm at best. I had the pork belly. It looked insipid, there was more fat than meat and it was tough. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt. If the gravy had been piping hot it would have helped. We did ask for hotter gravy but it was still lukewarm. We left a lot of food and didn't bother with dessert because our visit was spoilt. Unfortunately it was a waste of money and I won't be going again which is a shame.

Our first visit to this restaurant and it certainly won’t be our last! The food was to die for. I had the Panzanella Salad with goats cheese and I can honestly say it was the best salad I’ve ever had! Atmosphere was really nice and the young man running the place was super friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to return!

We often enjoy lunch at The Ashton. It is a nice warm pub and generally the food is good and the staff are helpful and friendly. This time I chose the mushroom risotto and it was sweet! It was almost like a milk rice pudding with mushrooms added. I didn’t want to spoil the event so I said nothing at the time. But I wrote to the pub twice, asking if it should be sweet, or had there been a mistake. They acknowledged my emails, but never actually replied. So beware of the mushroom risotto!

Nice food, although would prefer served hot rather warm. Pretty expensive sadly. Good friendly service.

Lovely decor looks very inviting but goes downhill from there. Waited 15 minutes before we then asked a waiter if we could have a drink this then arrived the same time as our friends but they weren’t asked if they would like a drink had to grab a waiter again service was appalling more interested in setting tables for the next day. The area was very cold people actually eating with their coats on. Dessert was disgusting slices of apple on puff pastry (joke) Luke warm apple on soggy thin goo did not resemble any form of pastry. Will not be returning until they get their act together

First visit since the Aston has opened in it's new format. Interior feel and decor are very nice. Outside area is nice, but you feel very close to other tables as a lot are in the area. Food is good, but you do not get value for money. Portion sizes are small for what you pay.

Have been to the Ashton for Sunday lunch today. I had the trio of roast, it was lovely. There were three of us and we all had different meals. Each one was excellent. Much improved on previous visits. They gave the covid protection very well implemented, we were impressed and felt very confident. Thank you to the staff for courteou, efficient service. Will be back very soon, especially for the trio roast!

We came for a group roast dinner and were served by Tara. She was extremely polite throughout our experience and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed themselves. We will definitely be coming back!

Pleasantly surprised by our first Sunday Lunch in the newly refurbished Ashton. Excellent and brilliantly presented pub food. Worth reserving table as was busy.

The girl working is very rude and spoke to me like I was a fool she has got zero customer service with a massive attitude problem the young lad harry was amazing

I've been here about 8-9 times spread across a year or so. I've always been happy with the experience but yesterday was absolutely awful. The food took a long time to come out and when it did it was cold. Tasted OK but cold food is never great. Hardly any gravy compared to my friends so went to get more and that gravy wasn't warm either. One guy who served us at the bar was fantastic. I went to give the plates back to save them the trouble and the woman behind the bar just stared at me and took them away. The dessert must have been standing for a while too as most of the ice cream had melted. Looking at the reviews from Christmas to now on here it seems Sunday service isn't the best and unfortunately I'm going to have to avoid for a while and see if they get their act together. What a shame.

Service - was awful, when we arrived we were stood around for ages, the staff did not acknowledge us at all. Two were talking at length about tiktok, one was engrossed on their phone and another was eating. We asked for tap water several times but it was never brought to us. After our main we asked to see the dessert menu but nobody came over to anywhere near where we were sat for 30 mins so we left (paid at the bar on the way out with a gift card - I would not have paid in full if it had been my own money). Food - I had a beef Roast dinner (costing £22.50), it tasted okay but was cold (not even room temp). My boyfriend had a chicken burger which was also cold. The table next to us were complaining about cold food too. The wine was extremely over priced for that kind of pub and the quality (£13.50 for a large glass of pinot noir). Atmosphere - we were a couple and they sat us in a small side room out the way which was filled with families. The children were screaming (consistently) and a man in there was snorting repeatedly. The prices do not reflect the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. We will not be going back.

Such a shame that such a lovely cosy venue fell very short on their food offering. I had a mushroom risotto which was beyond bland. Very disappointing.

Admittedly we visited this evening because I'd been emailed a voucher, but glad we did. Met by lovely friendly staff and given a choice of table. The venue became very quickly full, so clearly the reputation is good. So...drinks were very nice, deal on cocktails, food really nice, especially the pizza and ambience cracking. Highly recommended. Lovely place! I’ve been here countless times and it never fails to deliver. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and the food is exceptional. As a regular, I highly recommend!

On arriving, the car park was full mainly with rugby supporters who checked in number plate then went to match! Disabled parking was unavailable, and there were no more spaces even though a booking was made! The table wasn't ready, after ordering food we waited a long time for the food to come out and when it did it had items missing was stone cold, 2 very small bowls with little veg for 8 people, no one ate the food and they had the nerve to offer a 50% discount!! Shocking!! It felt like we were given the left overs..never again day completely ruined!🤬

Very friendly atmosphere, beautiful location, and some bloody good food. The chips I got with my steak were absolute perfection and tied the knot on a pub meal to remember. Had some really good chat with one of the bar lass', Rae I think it was, which made the whole experience very welcoming and entertaining! Overall, between Rae and the chips, definitely the highlight of my trip to Bristol!

For the money I'd say one of the worsts roasts I've ever had and we love to go out and try different Sunday roasts. I had duo of beef which I had to ask if they gave me a single portion because there was so little meat, my partner had a dry bit of pork. The roast comes with pretty much no greens, just a small bowel of kale and leek. You have to pay extra on top of the £22 for greens! Couldn't believe that. Cauliflower cheese was more like just Cauliflower as there was next to no cheese flavour. The taste was OK but with the Greens missing and small portions I'd be happy to pay around £12 not nearly double that. Also, we had to wait 45 mins for dessert and the bill did not come, had to go and pay at the till. On that note the waitress was lovely, couldn't fault her. But no way would I ever return or recommend, sorry.

Today was our first visit to The Ashton and sadly it will be our last until I see better menu options for Vegans. Everywhere you go does a burger option so I was pleasantly surprised to see a banana blossom stew. Sadly though it arrived looking like most of the meal was missing. My daughters child size roast beef towered over it. It was gone in about 6 spoonfulls and I was left wondering how that was £18 worth of food. Its such a shame because the staff, decor and atmosphere were all lovely but I can't justify a portion size like that.

Took the grandchildren for a treat after ice-skating. No burgers so went for chiken burgers which were in breadcrumbs and greasy. Our food came out and we had no knives and forks and had to wait whilst they were eventually brought to the table. No atmosphere and cold. The table we were going to sit at near the fire, seating was covered in food so had to sit near the door. Overpriced and not a pleasant experience. Wont be back I'm afraid 😨

We had a large group Christmas meal. I’m pleased to say all the food arrived swiftly and together and as far as I know no mistakes with any of the orders! The steaks were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals and desserts. Staff were attentive when needed, and friendly. We have been coming to The Ashton for our annual Christmas meal for a few years now, and will definitely be booking again for 2025! Thank you for a lovely atmosphere!

Had a booking on Boxing Day and all I can say is that it was the worst experience we have ever had . Our family Christmas meal was totally spoiled by lack of staff , extremely slow service , mediocre food and priority given to football supporters for drinks meaning we waited an hour for a drinks order at the table which is unacceptable . Do not book if you don’t want your Christmas celebration spoilt !

What can I say !!!! Absolutely awful after having such a great meal the previous year why wouldn’t you do it again somewhere local ! From the moment we walked in it didn’t feel like Xmas even tho it was Boxing Day !! No service with a smile , everything seemed to be an effort but couldn’t eat food with no cutlery , drinks orders were over an hour , no atmosphere I appreciate they were short staffed but that did not need to reflect on our experience paying the same money ! Still waiting for response Boxing Day ruined

Boxing daily totally spoilt! Terrible smell, zero staff, zero service, cold food, and hour to get a glass of wine, no cutlery.. the list goes on. We get the staff were stretched, one unfortunately had a bit of an attitude. So far our formal complaint hasn't been responded to other than "we tried our best". Other diners had discounts off their bill! I'd appreciate our complaint reviewed please.

Utter incompetence from the staff. AVOID. The table next to us actually got up and walked out halfway through their meal, which I wish we had the guts to have done. The food was mediocre, but I cannot emphasise how rude and unhelpful MULTIPLE staff were. I am sure they were busy, but to speak to customers the way that they did, not only to our table but others too is just not acceptable when you are paying a significant amount for your meal. We will not be going back again.
