Just had a lovely lunch with my friend. Service was great, thank you Harry! We will be back.

Nice food, although would prefer served hot rather warm. Pretty expensive sadly. Good friendly service.

First visit since the Aston has opened in it's new format. Interior feel and decor are very nice. Outside area is nice, but you feel very close to other tables as a lot are in the area. Food is good, but you do not get value for money. Portion sizes are small for what you pay.

Have been to the Ashton for Sunday lunch today. I had the trio of roast, it was lovely. There were three of us and we all had different meals. Each one was excellent. Much improved on previous visits. They gave the covid protection very well implemented, we were impressed and felt very confident. Thank you to the staff for courteou, efficient service. Will be back very soon, especially for the trio roast!

I had the most amazing and attentive waitress - Tara Francis. The food was outstanding! Very cool country pub located out of the city.

We came for a group roast dinner and were served by Tara. She was extremely polite throughout our experience and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed themselves. We will definitely be coming back!

Pleasantly surprised by our first Sunday Lunch in the newly refurbished Ashton. Excellent and brilliantly presented pub food. Worth reserving table as was busy.

The girl working is very rude and spoke to me like I was a fool she has got zero customer service with a massive attitude problem the young lad harry was amazing

I've been here about 8-9 times spread across a year or so. I've always been happy with the experience but yesterday was absolutely awful. The food took a long time to come out and when it did it was cold. Tasted OK but cold food is never great. Hardly any gravy compared to my friends so went to get more and that gravy wasn't warm either. One guy who served us at the bar was fantastic. I went to give the plates back to save them the trouble and the woman behind the bar just stared at me and took them away. The dessert must have been standing for a while too as most of the ice cream had melted. Looking at the reviews from Christmas to now on here it seems Sunday service isn't the best and unfortunately I'm going to have to avoid for a while and see if they get their act together. What a shame.

Service - was awful, when we arrived we were stood around for ages, the staff did not acknowledge us at all. Two were talking at length about tiktok, one was engrossed on their phone and another was eating. We asked for tap water several times but it was never brought to us. After our main we asked to see the dessert menu but nobody came over to anywhere near where we were sat for 30 mins so we left (paid at the bar on the way out with a gift card - I would not have paid in full if it had been my own money). Food - I had a beef Roast dinner (costing £22.50), it tasted okay but was cold (not even room temp). My boyfriend had a chicken burger which was also cold. The table next to us were complaining about cold food too. The wine was extremely over priced for that kind of pub and the quality (£13.50 for a large glass of pinot noir). Atmosphere - we were a couple and they sat us in a small side room out the way which was filled with families. The children were screaming (consistently) and a man in there was snorting repeatedly. The prices do not reflect the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. We will not be going back.

Maisie was an amazing waitress so kind and very respectful would come here again very nice food and cocktails are to die for.

Amazing service from Daisy the other day, served us with a smile and helped us out with any queries we had. She is a credit to The Ashton. Meal was also superb, cooked by Holly in the kitchen. Will definitely be coming back!

Such a shame that such a lovely cosy venue fell very short on their food offering. I had a mushroom risotto which was beyond bland. Very disappointing.

Lovely place! I’ve been here countless times and it never fails to deliver. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and the food is exceptional. As a regular, I highly recommend!

Had a lovely meal this evening, especially good value as we had a deal on mains. Loved my three cheese and mushroom pizza, so tasty, and enjoyed the cocktails. (Raffle number 213)

Admittedly we visited this evening because I'd been emailed a voucher, but glad we did. Met by lovely friendly staff and given a choice of table. The venue became very quickly full, so clearly the reputation is good. So...drinks were very nice, deal on cocktails, food really nice, especially the pizza and ambience cracking. Highly recommended. On arriving, the car park was full mainly with rugby supporters who checked in number plate then went to match! Disabled parking was unavailable, and there were no more spaces even though a booking was made! The table wasn't ready, after ordering food we waited a long time for the food to come out and when it did it had items missing was stone cold, 2 very small bowls with little veg for 8 people, no one ate the food and they had the nerve to offer a 50% discount!! Shocking!! It felt like we were given the left overs..never again day completely ruined!🤬

Very friendly atmosphere, beautiful location, and some bloody good food. The chips I got with my steak were absolute perfection and tied the knot on a pub meal to remember. Had some really good chat with one of the bar lass', Rae I think it was, which made the whole experience very welcoming and entertaining! Overall, between Rae and the chips, definitely the highlight of my trip to Bristol!

Today was our first visit to The Ashton and sadly it will be our last until I see better menu options for Vegans. Everywhere you go does a burger option so I was pleasantly surprised to see a banana blossom stew. Sadly though it arrived looking like most of the meal was missing. My daughters child size roast beef towered over it. It was gone in about 6 spoonfulls and I was left wondering how that was £18 worth of food. Its such a shame because the staff, decor and atmosphere were all lovely but I can't justify a portion size like that.

Food served cold waiting time to long, and way to expensive for portion size this was supposed to be a Sunday lunch for granddaughters birthday ...will not be returning 😒

For the money I'd say one of the worsts roasts I've ever had and we love to go out and try different Sunday roasts. I had duo of beef which I had to ask if they gave me a single portion because there was so little meat, my partner had a dry bit of pork. The roast comes with pretty much no greens, just a small bowel of kale and leek. You have to pay extra on top of the £22 for greens! Couldn't believe that. Cauliflower cheese was more like just Cauliflower as there was next to no cheese flavour. The taste was OK but with the Greens missing and small portions I'd be happy to pay around £12 not nearly double that. Also, we had to wait 45 mins for dessert and the bill did not come, had to go and pay at the till. On that note the waitress was lovely, couldn't fault her. But no way would I ever return or recommend, sorry.

Took the grandchildren for a treat after ice-skating. No burgers so went for chiken burgers which were in breadcrumbs and greasy. Our food came out and we had no knives and forks and had to wait whilst they were eventually brought to the table. No atmosphere and cold. The table we were going to sit at near the fire, seating was covered in food so had to sit near the door. Overpriced and not a pleasant experience. Wont be back I'm afraid 😨

We had a large group Christmas meal. I’m pleased to say all the food arrived swiftly and together and as far as I know no mistakes with any of the orders! The steaks were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals and desserts. Staff were attentive when needed, and friendly. We have been coming to The Ashton for our annual Christmas meal for a few years now, and will definitely be booking again for 2025! Thank you for a lovely atmosphere!

Had a booking on Boxing Day and all I can say is that it was the worst experience we have ever had . Our family Christmas meal was totally spoiled by lack of staff , extremely slow service , mediocre food and priority given to football supporters for drinks meaning we waited an hour for a drinks order at the table which is unacceptable . Do not book if you don’t want your Christmas celebration spoilt !

What can I say !!!! Absolutely awful after having such a great meal the previous year why wouldn’t you do it again somewhere local ! From the moment we walked in it didn’t feel like Xmas even tho it was Boxing Day !! No service with a smile , everything seemed to be an effort but couldn’t eat food with no cutlery , drinks orders were over an hour , no atmosphere I appreciate they were short staffed but that did not need to reflect on our experience paying the same money ! Still waiting for response Boxing Day ruined

Boxing daily totally spoilt! Terrible smell, zero staff, zero service, cold food, and hour to get a glass of wine, no cutlery.. the list goes on. We get the staff were stretched, one unfortunately had a bit of an attitude. So far our formal complaint hasn't been responded to other than "we tried our best". Other diners had discounts off their bill! I'd appreciate our complaint reviewed please.

Utter incompetence from the staff. AVOID. The table next to us actually got up and walked out halfway through their meal, which I wish we had the guts to have done. The food was mediocre, but I cannot emphasise how rude and unhelpful MULTIPLE staff were. I am sure they were busy, but to speak to customers the way that they did, not only to our table but others too is just not acceptable when you are paying a significant amount for your meal. We will not be going back again.

Granted, we went in for food on boxing day, so we expected it to be busy. The poor waiting staff were very snowed under, they were clearly very very understaffed. Bless the ones who were there, and did their best for us, well done to the team today. Was it because it was the holidays and staff sickness or was it a company decision to not have so many people in on the day, I don't know? Food was very lovely, amongst it all, really made up for the rest of it. Well done to everyone who working there today, it was just a shame the odds were stacked against you

Service was very slow even though the place was empty. Would have been nice to get some Pepsi with our ice. Prices are a bit steep for the surf and turf not sure how two prawns and cold steak justify the £36 price tag. Just visited this pub with two friends for our Christmas catch up. Main course which was belly of pork was lovely but I cannot get over the portion size of the crème brûlée for a staggering £9.25. It was so tiny it’s unbelievable. Then to find out from the menu when checking the price that it should have been served with raspberries which were missing and other components were missing but they couldn’t be bothered to own up to that. Mentioned this to the server who pretty much dismissed it saying she wouldn’t know because she doesn’t eat crème brûlée. Would not return and would not recommend.

The staff gave us a warm greeting and offered my toddler some colouring in pages. The festive menu was excellent and good value for money. The ambience was lovely and the staff were polite and helpful.

Visited the Ashton for breakfast with Santa with two very excited 4 year olds although the weather storm Darragh lead to a lot of cancellations all the staff made the experience magical for the children we all enjoyed a breakfast then the children went to see Santa.Thank you to all the staff who made it such a brilliant morning.

Poor service. Food was OK but overpriced for what We had it took an absolute age to get our food. Booked for 12.30 didn't leave until 3.10 and that was only 2 courses. Didn't get offered dessert or coffee. The restaurant wasn't busy. We had to go on to the bar to get more drinks. I would hate to think how long we would have to wait if it was busy

We had a roast today. They were very good. The children's roasts were enormous, adult size but half the meat. The service was slow but it was a Sunday. Overall, very good.

Lovely quality gastro-pub food in a cozy smart environment. Despite our large party, the staff did a great job this evening. Harry in particularly really stood out as a service-conscious, knowledgable and friendly host. He made sure to start and end service with a really pleasant professional tone. Good job Harry! PS. Have dropped stars for missing cutlery when desserts arrived (torturous!) and would be even better if the lower bottom room tables were checked on more often as we found it hard to catch attention of team. But all in all a lovely evening!

Attended the refurbished Ashton this evening as a family of 4 with 2 young children. We all loved the food and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food came out quickly and it was lovely to sit in a relaxed atmosphere by the warming fire!

Food portions are quite small but generally this is a nice quiet pub for a group meet up.

Really cosy pub. We came in for a Sunday lunch, had a bottle of wine between me and 2 other friends outside while we waited for our table. The staff are very friendly and welcoming but because I expected a lot of from the roast dinner, I felt quite disappointed. I had the chicken and fig parfait to start which was lovely. I had the trio of roasts for my roast dinner. I was really excited for some pork belly but they gave me the fattiest piece, which I don't mind but a bit more in the oven or cooking on it would be nice. The potatoes were also hard and needed more cooking. I felt like the meal was a bit rushed especially because my friends said the same with their meal. My yorkshire pudding also tasted quite burnt but my friends said their's were fine. Dessert was lovely though...I had the chocolate bomb but I'd say its probably best they do this dessert in a bowl rather than a flat plate as the ice cream melted everywhere and it was hard to scoop it. I would definitely recommend the chocolate bomb as I'm not keen on overly sweet sickly desserts but this was just right!

Lovely decorated pub with a cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. The majority of waitresses and waiters seemed incredibly anxious and quiet. Yes it was busy, however it took an eternity for orders to be taken and food/drink to arrive. The Duo of Beef was just rare fat that wasn’t really edible. About 4 raw roast potato’s, a sprinkle of gravy + oh and the cauliflower cheese had ZERO cheese - it was honestly quite funny. We then waited an eternity for the deserts to arrive - at least these were better. The manager woman serving tables seemed the most competent, at least she was good. Looks can be deceiving - although this pub looked beautiful, the food and service was below average

Very slow service worst roast I've ever had and very rude waitress can't fault the manger for resolving the issue, roasters we're hollow and filled with oil with a rubber texter parsnip wasn't cooked and hard inside waitress who was rude showed attuided over being asked to warm up the stone cold coli cheese before this she slammed them on the table and walked off in a huff only bouns is the manger was very understanding and refunded us with no problem maybe this was a one off but shan't be rushing back there

We came out to the Ashton for a spot of lunch, we booked in advanced so we swiftly got taken to our seats, the lovely Charlie and Harry were our waiters. They ensured we had everything we needed and provided excellent service. The food was amazing we had 2 seabasses, but one of us had a prawn allergy. Our servers checked with the chefs and managed to make a sea bass meal without prawns so I could still have the meal I wanted. Thanks

Very good, tasty roast dinner and good value. The pub is in a good location and very nicely decorated with log fires etc. I would imagine it would be nice to sit outside in the summer.

Went there today, blunt response to not having a table. Second time I’ve gone in 2 weeks. Other time we had a good meal but again, front of house was grim. She really needs to understand how to be friendly. Food was good though. Same girl each time, really poor at customer service.

The deco and set up is lovely. Really friendly staff and very dog friendly. We went on a Monday evening and it was quiet. The food came out quickly. Was pleasant food. Normal pub food. Would recommend booking at busier times.

We just enjoyed a lovely meal. We were served by Harry, he was very polite and attentive and looked after us well. The food and drinks were all reasonably priced.

The food was excellent and the service from Jack and Harry was fantastic definitely a place I’d visit again.
