Great selection of beer and ciders, not been here in about 3 years as I moved away from Bristol, but I'm glad it's just as good as I remembered. Had the sharing nachos, all of the individual components were amazingly tasty, however, the layering was all wrong, once you got past the top layer it was just crisps. Overall we had excellent service, drinks and food.

We had a great time here. Good atmosphere and a great selection of beer!

Great selection of beers and ciders and really friendly helpful staff too. The bar staff let me try a couple of different beers and ciders before picking my drink of choice. Food was really good too, we ordered a few dishes like tapas which were good and the larger dishes looked really good too. Would definitely recommend going

Great pub with a fine selection of beers/ales. Expensive, but to be expected in these trying times.

Went for euro final. Paid for a round but they forgot a drink, went back to the bar immediately but the barmaid denied us ordering even though we asked her for her recommendation. She was really rude and the cost of the round definitely included the drink. Nasty.

Staff didn't help England win final. Good booze but no fun when football doesn't come home. Medium out of 10.

Watched the football here and had some well presented pub food. Great selection of over 20 beers including craft.

Good range of beers and the loaded fries with chicken katsu hit the spot. Plenty of outdoor seating and seems like a favourite with hen and stag do's, also had live music in the bar.

Always enjoy our time here when we visit Bristol, staff are friendly, great atmosphere and excellent choice in beers. This time we decided to take in Sunday lunch, perfect food, great value and staff were very attentive, perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon would really recommend it.

Fantastic bar on King Street, arguably the strongest beer list of anywhere on the street and one of the best in all of Bristol. Spoilt for choice! Came here on a Friday night in the summer and there was good live music playing- not sure if this is a regular feature but it was fantastic. The venue is deceptively large. There is more than just what you can see when you walk in- at the end of the bar there is another seating area- this was actually still calm while the main area in the bar was at full tilt.

Nice old pub, a wall of different choices of beer and cider and a range of alcohol percentages, a bit like going to a beer festival . Good food and a log fire that was as burning real logs. Update: returned this time in the summer and lots of tables outside on a cobbled no traffic street, so once again a good trip. Quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime, but it was open from midday which are getting harder to find.

Amazing selection of beer, good food. But suffers from that same problem most trying-to-be-gastropubs: despite being done up like (and asking prices like) a proper restaurant, the toilets are mingin like some high street boozer.

Banging roast, excellent location and great rooftop terrace to take the sun. They also have an amazing selection of beers, Ale, Pale Ale and IPA's.

Worst pint of cask I’ve ever had. Poured me a warm beer, then argued with me that nobody else had complained. Finally poured me a replacement, however that was warm too. No wonder this place isn’t in the good beer guide. Real ale drinkers avoid.

Went to the bar to order drinks on Saturday 4th May with my partner. The barstaff completely ignored us for THIRTY MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everytime they looked up saying "who's next please?" They'd deliberately avoid looking at us and served everyone else around and next to us including people who'd just arrived at the bar while we were waiting. I'm so ticked off at how humiliating the service was. We ended up leaving without any drinks after wasting half an hour standing there like lemons. The main barman in question had dark brown / black hair, slight beard and Hispanic complexion but they were all as bad as each other. He was directly in front of us and avoided eye contact with me every bloody time when all we were doing was waiting politely. This service was SO bad I feel obliged to leave this review to warn others that the staff here are rude, disorganised and will only serve you if they like the look of you. Its frankly pathetic and appalling that your staff ignore customers who were stood politely waiting to be served. They served everyone around me when anyone else came over to the bar the staff were speedy to come over despite walking past me numerous times. Anyways rant over. I won't be returning to this godforsaken place anytime soon.

I remember back when the pub was a proper ale pub not this rubbish craft beer.

Fantastic gem of a pub. Doesn't look like much at first glance but amazing selection of craft beers and superb food. And to top it all the staff are first class- friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Can't recommend enough

When’s we go over to Bristol for a gig, we ALWAYS call in here for a couple of craft beers from their magnificent selection. Also highly recommend the loaded fries!

Lovely pub, lovely vibes, and lovely staff who seemed happy to be there. The best bit was the Irish band The Talismen, who were fantastic and created the amazing atmosphere 🥳 No Guinness, but had a delicious London Stout (I think) which was even better 🙏

Well, what a pub. Very varied selection of ales and the food is outstanding, I had the Sunday roast called The Volley Triple and it was outstanding, Beef, Lamb and Pork Belly 😋😋😋 Service was excellent, bar staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend this pub. Can't be faulted 😊👍😊👍😊👍

Visited on a Wednesday evening, two weeks before Christmas. All tables were occupied by 7pm. Our party of 8 ordered some bar snacks, a variety of beers, ciders, and soft drinks. Bar service was fast with efficiency and smile that would put Aldi checkouts to shame. They didn't do red berry cider, so they added a red cordial to an apple cider, and I couldn't tell the difference, although clearly I'm no cider connoisseur 😉

Really decent Sunday lunch, and an enjoyable quiz on Wednesday nights, the guy that runs the quiz is funny. Staff are always super friendly and helpful.

Went in here yesterday for 1 And after 3 hrs left lol, What a cracking pub , we were made to feel really welcome from the Bar staff and explained about the big boards on the wall If you are into Real Ale's it is a must visit If your a lager drinker no 8 I can fully recommend this pub

Just in for a few drinks. Good entertainment (we went for the comedy club). Clean facilities. Nice staff. Great range of delicious beers. Be warned, you’ll be paying King Street prices though. A pint of 2.8% ABV ale is £5.40!

Excellent Sunday lunch. We booked on the day so did not eat till 3pm but they still had good choice. The meal was generous and my lamb tasty and my husband had delicious pork. Great choice of beer, cider etc. We always find this good option for Sunday lunch.

The worst place i have even been! We were sitting for 1 hrs (drinks already ordered) and we were told many times to wait for order food…after 1 hr they said there were not taking any more orders. The excuse we were given was that there was a lack of communicarion. Worst place and wordt attention! Never comingback again to this place.

We decided to go in for a drink. There was not much information about the drinks i had a strawberry, and blackyberry cider did not enjoy it at all my other colleagues managed to finish their drinks . I enjoyed the theme of the toilets being cut kegs, as urinals

Expensive beers, but excellent atmosphere.

Volly is a great pub with an ever changing range of craft beers which is great. Only downside to our visit was the staff couldn't find the remote to get the sound on for the rugby world cup through the speakers. This left the atmosphere for the sport somewhat lack lustre. The staff however were very apologetic and the service was quick and friendly for a busy Saturday afternoon.

Friday night great atmosphere, live music. Irritating bouncers mind. Some weird comedy routine that just wasn't funny.

I love the volley. They’re dog friendly, not too expensive and have cool events on like the comedy and live music. Great lil roof terrace too.

Tuesday night mid September so a funny one. Lists of beers all interesting. Served without interest though. Possibly cus just after a large group of young 'uns. Quite empty but im sure that's different weekend and summer. Good beer. So that's a great start.

Almost always pop in here when I'm visiting Bristol. Lovely inside, friendly staff and a good selection of craft beers. On the few occasions I've eaten it's been excellent. Plenty of outdoor seating out the front too, perfect for a sunny day

Came here for a leaving party, drinks are from a selection of British breweries and distilleries. Interesting mix of spirits and a large number of beers. You won't find brands like Carlsberg or Smirnoff so this is a good place to try something new. Spirits can get expensive if you're drinking doubles but still worth the price though this might be a swap breaker if you're looking for a cheap night out. Can't comment about food though it seemed popular and decent portions from what I saw coming out.

Not a bad little pub on a street which has quite a few decent hostelries on it. There is a decent selection of craft, although quite a few had sold out despite still being on the board. Getting served at the bar was a struggle as the staff didn’t have a handle on who was next and were just randomly serving people who had just come to the bar despite people having been waiting a while. Staff were also a bit standoffish. The interior needs a bit of tlc and it lacked a bit of atmos even though it was a Friday night. All in all everything was a bit average hence the 3/5 rating.
