a nice spot with good views over the local area ordered a steak that was so tough I couldn’t cut into it even with a steak knife left 80% of it as I couldn’t cut any more chunks off to try and it came with chips that looked ok but had not been blanced before being deep fried so i had to leave those to had decided to go on the basis of other reviews we were not expecting anything other than good basic food but left very dissapointed the items on the menu looked interesting with a good selection at reasonable prices but what we ate was fairly inedible, will not be going back

The Ash Inn was one of three we could walk to from our campsite-it was the best! On our first day we walked through Mow Cop to the end of the town on our way to see Mow Cop Castle. On our way back we popped into two of the three, the last being The Ash! Lovely beer garden overlooking stunning views of the surrounding area. The next day (Sunday) we decided to have lunch out-our first call was the pub nearest to the site..6 minute walk-NO! Not pleasant, very old with a strange smell. So we carried on walking to The Ash-what a difference! Hubby had the beef roast which was amazing-ample portions with loads of roast beef- I had a ham & tomato baguette-gorgeous! Prices were very good too-had a lovely afternoon! Well worth a visit.

Todays Wrinkly’s Weekday Wanderings search of the best deal for a Friday Fish Chips and Mushy Peas lunch absolute bargain at £5.95 per head.. absolute winner & just like it used to be when I first retired 11 years ago when in those days we could easily get a full meal main, pudding and drinks for less than 25 quid for two. Today we managed £27.80 for all of the above including coffees. Definitely excellent value for money and excellent homecooked style good food, clean tidy venue with welcoming and friendly staff. Highly Recommended. So this place is definitely now on our future radar, well worth a visit, I wouldn't normally promote something outside of Alsager that was advertised on an Alsager site but if you fancy a short run out (less than 6 miles from Alsager) and prices way less than typical prices around and especially prices in Alsager then this place is well worth a try. Great views from up there at Mow Cop too. Sorry to all of you that are at work 12:00 -16:00 weekdays… 😂

Thank you to the staff that were working on February 18th! Due to a large table, we had a pre order and the food came out quickly, we had to take a meal off and add another one on but this was no problem, the food was lovely and everyone enjoyed it! Good selection for certain dietary requirements too :) nothing was too much trouble for the two waitresses who were serving us and they were so polite and friendly.

Visited on Saturday evening with friends. We were staying at local camp site. The food was absolutely gorgeous. 3 out of 4 of us had pie which was incredible and my husband has hunters chicken which he loved. We were able to keep the table for the evening and we stayed and watched the band. Great atmosphere, lovely pub, lovely staff and cannot wait to revisit.

Came in a couple of weekends ago for some food as a last minute thing. Food was spot on as always 10/10 and Matt our server was so sweet and attentive, literally nothing was too much hassle. Very chatty and welcoming, lovely boy and has very very good customer service which is hard to come by nowadays! Overall cannot fault the visit!!

Unfortunately our food was so so bland. The chilli was nothing special, could have used more spices and my sisters grilled chicken had no flavour at all!! So disappointed as we were told to go here by friends and family, wouldn’t step foot in here again!

My wife and I (and our 10 month old) had the 4 course valentines meal which was fantastic. Lucas the chef always does well and this was no exception. The staff had gone to town laying the tables and decorating especially. We've eaten here a few times and always enjoyed the food and friendly service.

Had a two night stay in motorhome on the car park. Hosts's were amazing food was excellent and excellent value for money. One of my friends, who breeds beef cattle says her her Ribeye was the best she had ever had. I had the same can't fault ! Locals were initially confused by our presence but were a great bunch. I'd like to say rough and ready but that is a dis-service to this wonderful venue. If you're are a snob don't bother, people will insist on talking to you! If that's what you like WOW great place, great staff, landlady superb and the banter is fantastic. Any plumbing advice required, Friday/Saturay ask for Sid!

Spent a couple of nights here with friends in our motorhomes. What a gem of a pub. The locals and the staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. There is an extensive menu which is reasonably priced. Generous portions and very tasty.

I do not usually write a negative review as i am so easy going and rarely picky...but in this case i feel i must. The food was absolutely disgusting. My sister in law ordered mustard mash with belly pork and peas ..only the peas were edible ...the food was cold, the belly pork was not cooked through and was redy pink in places and the mustard mash was tasteless. Granted when she complained about it not being hot the lovely server took it away and it was zapped in the microwave. I had lasagne with chips, salad and garlic bread ...what can I say ....the lasagne was swimming in oil,the cheese on top of the lasagne was a congealed slab, th e salad was swimming in vinegarett, and the chips looked and tasted like they had come from a chippy...in fact I asked the lovely waitress if they were from the chippy ....the garlic bread was ok .. I hate to complain but when the waitress asked if we enjoyed our meal I had to be honest ....most of our food was left. Both the waitresses were extremely apologetic...lovely girls and gave me a portion of our money back. I certainly will never eat there again ...so disappointed ...lovely waitresses.

Great friendly pub with good cosy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food is o erall very yood though prices like most places have increased. Paid £19 for a mixed grill which was basically a cooked breakfast with peas and a very small steak. No chicken portion and steak only 4oz though have to say was cooked beautifully . One of party had his usual liver and mash though we could see gravy looked a bit congealed and not the dark lovely usual. We gave feedback to Mike behind bar but don't think he believed us or wanted to accept any feedback that was slightly negative though to be fair he did say he was sorry if that was our opinion. Would return but bit more careful about what order.

Have came up to this area for a few days and was looking for somewhere to go to grab breakfast or lunch. We found the place easily enough with the sat nav and when we drove in, there is a flag outside the main door saying GG's care now open. We went inside and were met by a very pleasant lady by the name of Pearl who tells us that the place doesn't open on a Monday. This is despite it saying on other sites, including their own that it's open 9am-2pm. Please update your information to save other people needless trips.

So delicious! Went in for brunch/late breakfast, we had double bacon, sausage&egg oatcakes. Cooked perfectly! My only downpoint is the seating area could of done with a mop of the floor. Returning very soon! A bonus point for the free chocolate pikelets!x

We booked for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. The service was brilliant and the food was piping hot. My friend had the lamb shank and I went for the Turkey Sunday lunch! Neither of us were disappointed. The pudding was by far the best thing! I’m dairy intolerant and the vegan chocolate orange pudding and vegan custard was lush !
