Well it was my unlucky turned lucky day…unlucky being the fact my car battery died, lucky being the fact it was outside The Art House Cafe!! The super duper ‘not all heroes wear capes’ owner, soon rushed to my aid bearing jump leads and such a warm kindness that restored all my faith in humanity. Of course after my huge embarrassment, I had to have something to eat and drink and this is where I realised that getting a flat battery here was actually the best thing that could have happened. What a discovery! The most delicious club sandwich I have ever had, and an equally tasty flat white. Service impeccable here, both in the cafe and the jump starting field! Just a stones throw from the beach for a stroll after a delightful lunch - what more could you want?! I will definitely be back. Thank you, so very much. I will be recommending to everyone. Wish there were more people like you in the world!

Lovely atmosphere with paintings and other items from local artist available to buy. Spotlessly clean. Not cheap but good value for a very nice lunch. I had the Cromer Crab sandwich (heavenly) and my husband had a chicken sandwich. Both delicious on fresh tasty brown bread with crisps and a side salad. The cakes looked beautiful but sadly we were too full to try them. Friendly service.

We have visited this little cafe quite a few times on our day trips to Cromer in the last couple of years and have always found the food, service, staff and atmosphere to be spot on. We’ve had morning coffee, brunches, lunches and cakes. Everything without exception has been great and they fully deserve the 5 stars every day of the week. On our latest visit they really went the extra mile to give us a much needed lunch ( delish open sandwich) late in the day, when things had gone a bit awry for us - on our wedding anniversary actually! Though they didn’t know that. This is when you know a business really has got the extra factor that’s missing in so many places these days - care, thought and concern for its customers beyond the norm. This is when a place shows itself to be extra special - going the extra mile, valuing its customers, and being so pleasant about it too. We will be back again this month, and to be honest, apart from a fish and chip supper, it’s our “go to” place in Cromer, and we highly recommend it!

Calling in this morning we were pleasantly surprised to find they were dog friendly and our boy Scamp was treated like a VIP. We shall definitely return and hope to sample their crab sandwiches next time. Thank you so very much.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We were visiting Cromer for the day and liked the look of The Art House Cafe so went in for lunch. We had Prawn Brioche and Smoked Salmon Bagel which were tasty and have no complaints. Coffee was good and overall we were happy with the offering. In other circumstances I would have been happy to have awarded 4 or even 5 stars but the way I saw some potential customers being treated means I couldn’t as it seems that parties of more than 4 won’t be accommodated at the same table here. A group of 5 came in while we were there and were told that they weren’t allowed to put an extra chair on the end of a table for 4. Presuming that it was because it would cause an obstruction at that particular table we offered to swop tables but were told that it wasn’t permitted to move any chairs or tables as that would disrupt the staff’s way of working!! So a group of 5 who would have spent a substantial amount of money went out the door to another establishment. At a time when we are told how tough times are for the hospitality sector it seems strange to turn away trade as it may slightly inconvenience staff. I must add that, to her credit, the girl behind the counter apologised if I thought her rude in the way she refused my offer of moving tables. We noted that at no point during our time there did staff pass where the extra chair would have been but when 3 women came in with 2 very large dogs who spread themselves across the floor, the staff had to take detours to avoid standing on the dogs. Looks like they are happier to accommodate dogs than paying customers.

This cafe looked a welcome change so we thought we would give it a try with good looking cakes on offer.

Lovely choice of cakes and teas. Lovely waiting staff. Nice views of the church and a great place to chill out or meet up with friends for a coffee. I like the decor and love how it supports the arts - Norfolk is a county with a lot of creativity!

I am elderly and was waiting for my daughter who was shopping in Cromer and popped in- all other nearby cafes being closed by 4pm. I had a loively, reasonably priced coffee and was made very welcome. I saw that there were interesting cakes and dishes on the menu - it was peaceful lovely place.

I have been in here a few times now with my little girl... we love it. So friendly and accommodating... gave us a cushion for the seat so my daughter could reach her child size hot chocolate. Such a calm relaxing atmosphere surrounded by the artwork. The cakes are fantastic -I have sampled a few different ones and on Saturday had the clotted cream scone. Highly recommend.

Have been here once before and thought it was nice, coffee and cake good. Attempted to pay a return visit with my 15 month old daughter only to be informed they don't have highchairs. That's one way to keep those pesky annoying small people away. Go to Hatters, much bigger, better and pleased to see children!!

Stumbled on the cafe on our first visit to Cromer and couldn’t have chosen better. Tea and crumpets just lovely but then stayed for a second cup as couldn’t resist the delicious lime & courgette cake. Light and airy and golden retriever made to feel welcome with a couple of gravy bones in a saucer.

This is what all pubs should be!. Warm, welcoming, great staff, and the food is absolutely faultless. It is our ‘go too’ for lunch, the burgers are amazing, and with home made proper chips!! .

We had a cream tea ,two doggie ice creams in the courtyard delicious. Also purchased a couple of bits and pieces in the sale, make up bag and door stop. Such good value. Popped into deli tea shop further down the road more expensive but I don’t think any better. Very dog friendly could do with fresh water in the courtyard tiny niggle. I’m use they would have replaced the water if I’d asked. Love the place think it’s great would call again if ever in the area.
