Cafe Carmel in North Norfolk

Very cute café with a welcoming and lively atmosphere. A variety of sweet and savoury dishes - cakes and scones and cookies, but also wraps and burgers and salads. Me and my partner have visited a few times during our holiday in the area and the staff have always been very friendly. It's always been busy with locals too (and with lots of well behaved dogs!). The cheese on toast was amazing, I never make it myself at home because I can't get vegan cheese to melt! But they seem to have nailed it :) We tried the wraps too, good quality ingredients and well prepared. The wraps being toasted meant it held together really nicely. The cookies were also delicious on the day we tried them, they were the perfect middle ground between a soft cookie and a snappy cookie. We are big cookie fans. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is vegan, vegetarian, or even an omnivore ;)

Four of us had lunch here, all trying something different from the menu. All the food and drinks were great and the hosts are friendly and kind. Will definitely return when we're visiting Bacton again.

Totally top notch place. Such a welcoming atmosphere,doggo friendly , and food excellent. As noted it's lovely food that happens to be vegan Would happily drive the 140 miles from our house for breakfast and then drive back.! We were staying at a lovely cottage up the road for a few days and Carmel's totally topped off our birthday weekend. Mark my words we will be back to Norfolk ( this was our first time having moved to Ketteting in22,) and will make sure we are not too far from Carmel's.!! Top people,top food ,top hat off to you! W

Gorgeous little vegan cafe just around the corner from where we are staying ( Rainbows End Park). We had the all day breakfast and cake. The banoffee cake was so soft. Very friendly owners, definitely worth a visit if you are coming to Bacton.

I have wanted to try this place for some time but ne er managed till today. Well what an amazing experience! I am not vegan but the food the ambiance and the service was at the top of the scale for enjoyment and well being. I had a burger which I am not really a fan of because of the quality of the meat patty but this plant based option was delicious and possibly the best burger I have ever had - Very filling so much so that I could only manage half a slice of coffee and walnut cake which was equally delicious. Chai latte to die for. A real birthday treat for me. Thank you

It I'd amazing whether you're stopping in for a quick bit or sitting down with some cake the experience doesn't change. Staff are so welcoming and understanding. Even though it's vegan it's still delicious!

Our go to place when up that part of the county. Great atmosphere, the best and most friendly staff and amazing food. Five stars all the way.

An amazing cafe, we were greeted at the door, with a big smile & shown to a table, such a selection on the menu, spoilt for choice. It was so busy, there was a wait for food, but when it arrived it was awesome, cooked to perfection & so tasty. All the were brilliant, so happy, so helpful. 100% Vegan, wow! The food was so good I forgot to take photos.

Such a warm genuinely welcoming cafe. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly clientele. Stopped off for a coffee and scone, beautiful freshly made savoury scone of herb and turmeric mix served with a chutney and a fruit scone with cream and jam. A lot of choice for vegans too. Worth stopping off for a while.

Not only is the food good but it’s served by such wonderful affable people.. our little dogs always welcome and well … it’s just a lovely place to visit

Such a great cafe! Dog friendly, amazing cakes. I had the mushroom pie and wow - I'm not vegetarian but I would choose that over a lot of meat pies, it was so well seasoned and filled, and the pastry was incredible. Lovely local produce for sale too. You can park just across the road and from the cafe it's a short stroll to the beach!

Fantastic Cafe in Bacton just north of Walcot beach. Dog friendly, Human friendly. Lovely staff, great food and altogether a better experience than in Walcott.

The all day breakfast was excellent.

This place is delightful! The staff (a mother and daughter team when we were there) were very welcoming and great with our kids. My husband and I had the all-day breakfast (my husband added facon bacon) and it was very tasty. And we got the choice of sourdough or seeded bread, which are our favourites! The kids had a burger and a wrap respectively and both went down very well! Then we had a slice of cake. I believe these are made offsite by a vegan baking angel! We had three different ones and they were all amazing. I'd highly recommend this to vegans and vegetarians but you don't have to be either to make this place worth a visit. Everything we ate in here was delicious!

Fabulous in every way!! Vegan menu, also perfect for vegetarians, and for everybody. We had the all day breakfast and it was fantastic. They have very good coffee, and a good selection of music as background. Cosy, comfy café, dogs are welcomed, and the lady who runs it is warm and friendly. We loved it.

Called in by chance last night. Lovely atmosphere with the Doors playing on the speaker, friendly owner and lovely, creative decor. We just had drinks and cheesecake which was yummy. We will definitely be back.

Had some good food my wife beryl loved the cafe the soups she had to try every time I have moved from Walcott but will get to come and see them again definitely love to you all xxxxx

We went on a wet and windy morning. The atmosphere was lovely, and we were made to feel very welcome. We enjoyed the food, which was just what we wanted. Would absolutely come again when we are next in the area, and would certainly recommend to others. Tip, the take out option was also very handy.

Such a great place for anyone, not just vegans, as there is something for every taste: we had a delicious breakfast roll with all the fake meat, Moroccan soup, the best cheese scones, the BEST coffee and walnut cake. Plus really friendly and helpful staff who recommended loads of other places with vegan options in the area. Cannot fault this place: as a vegan it's what you hope to find wherever you go.

I drove 20 miles just to eat here and it was brilliant. Such a homely atmosphere. Food is superb and very good value.

Wow! What an amazing little cafe, we stumbled across the cafe on a walk with our dogs. Such a warm welcome for us humans and our dogs. We are not vegan but the cakes we had were fabulous; lemon and poppyseed muffin for him and the Black Forest cake for me. The lattes we also fantastic. The dogs also enjoyed their doggy treats. 🤩

We were delighted to find this excellent cafe up the road from our camp site. Not only vegan but a whole host of gluten free options available. We were ecstatic with our all day breakfast, cappuccinos and cheese cake! Cute dog and lovely cook and owner too! Definitely worth a detour if you're in the area.

This is a lovely place to eat. The owners are so welcoming and dogs are well loved. Over the last couple of days we have had the full English breakfast and coffee and cake. We had been promising ourselves the breakfast for a while and it didn't disappoint. Everything cooked to order and wonderful sourdough toast. Today's cakes, one bannoffie and one pumpkin were delicious. Coffee always hot and tasty. I should add that as we're not vegetarian or vegan we don't miss the meat/animal products. Don't be put off by it being a vegan establishment. You will be pleasantly surprised. Thanks to everyone at café Carmel for making each visit a joy.

Very disappointed with this cafe, we went in after hearing how good it was. The place was dirty and cluttered and due to this felt very uncomfortable the entire time we were there. As we were not vegans the staff members didn’t really want to talk to us (they ask are you vegan, if you are they spend 10 mins suggesting tons of places) However the coffee was amazing and probably the best coffee around

We had lunch here while visiting some beaches along the East Coast. The menu was great and the staff were super-friendly. I would particularly recommend the Ice Tea.

Hands down the best vegan cafe we've visited, we first ate here on a summer camping trip last year and liked it so much we came back this year. The food is always incredible, brilliant menu on offer and the staff are all really friendly and attentive.

Stopped here whilst on holiday, the selection of cakes was fantastic, they tasted delicious too, staff were friendly and helpful even with our 2 dogs.

I've been meaning to review for a while as I visited with a group of friends in September last year. We had the tapas menu (which I believe is a once-weekly special) and were blown away by the variety, quality, inventiveness and taste as well as the impeccable, friendly service and exciting range of drinks and desserts to top everything off. If we come back to Bacton or even Norfolk more widely we will revisit as a priority! A gem whether you're vegan or not.

I took my children here for lunch and we had a wonderful time! The owners kindly made half portions for the children, which helped because the portions are generous. I think the burger with seitan facon may have been the best vegan burger I've had! After we'd gone to the beach (which is only a short walk away), we returned and tried a few cakes. They were all very good -- vegan buttercream can be hard to do well, but Cafe Carmel did it. The people running the cafe were friendly and helpful and the food was good. We will definitely be back.

Lovely Saturday dinner, both me and my husband had avo burger. Lovely being somewhere and not worry if certain things are vegan. Lovely wine, great choice of beer. Dog friendly.

My wife and I called in for breakfast recently with our three dogs. This cafe is friendly, comfortable and sells fantastic food. We were all made to feel welcome - including our dogs. The vegan options from the menu are top notch. I had the breakfast burger which was delicious, fresh and ample. We’re going to have to go back as there’s so much more on the menu we need to try (the cakes in particular, as they look SO good). This is how great cafes are run! Others should take note…. If you are anywhere near this cafe, you should call in and see for yourself.

What a wonderful place.We stopped by on holiday for breakfast and the welcome was so warm. It seemed many of the people there were regulars and there was friendly chat. It was like joining a special club with lovely food. If we lived nearer we would go all the time. Dogs very welcome too.

Stopped in here on our walk. We sat outside, lovely seating in the sun, our dog loved laying on the warm paving slabs and water was provided. Coffees and hot chocolate were very nice. We each had a variety of cake, flapjacks etc. All were delicious. The rest of the menu looked very tempting too! Staff were very friendly, a great little cafe. Highly recommended for anyone staying in the area.

Excellent selection on the menu and fresh cakes daily, along with a really nice selection of art from local artists - for sale to raise money for charity. We go whenever we're near Bacton and are never disappointed! Lovely that it's dog friendly too. Always a friendly atmosphere, and very welcoming.

This is a lovely cafe with a very friendly welcome from Ella, Dale, and Ann. The food is vegan, and this will be a bonus for some, but I would encourage anyone to give the food a try no matter what their diet as it is delicious. We were made to feel very welcome, and the owners are very dog friendly. The place has such a good atmosphere. The cafe is open as a bar/diner on some nights, we missed that, but we will give that a try next time we are in the area.

Found Carmel Cafe by luck, hoping somewhere in that area would have a place for us to eat - 3 x vegan & 1 z veggie. We were made very welcome. The cafe was really cozy & had a homely atmosphere. We ordered 3 x vegan cooked breakfasts (sausage, hash brown, beans, toms, mushroom & toast) & my daughter had (potato & leek) soup. The food was cooked just right & filled us up for our return walk up the beach!! We also ordered several slices of cake/muffins for when we got back to our holiday rental. All were delicious. It was lovely to find a place so relaxed and perfect for what we were after. I totally recommend, for anyone, no matter what their choice of diet is. Support small businesses, especially when they're as good as Carmel Cafe...

The cafe is vegan. I am not, but it doesn't matter as the food is excellent! Now extended, even better!
