Visited for our monthly date night. Ordered a portion of garlic mushrooms to share as a starter they were overcooked, had to eat them with our fingers as they were too hard to stab with a fork. Main, I ordered the tandoori chicken sizzler which was nice. My husband ordered the Rump Steak med/rare. When it came it was well done. He sent it back. Replacement steak was medium to well done, still not happy but ate it because I had finished and if he sent it back again it would probably have been an hour or more until he actually had the steak that he ordered in the first place. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. You really need to make sure your chefs know how to cook a steak at £20 a pop, we can do better at home.

Took the family for an evening meal. Food was disappointing. The kids ordered a lightbite wrap which came with a tiny amount of chips/wedges, which they didn’t mind but some sort of small salad would’ve been nice. If not to fill the plate with some colour. I ordered the Thai curry which was a bit watery and the rice was really over cooked and came with some sort of white bread? Partner ordered the fish pie which wasn’t conventional as you would imagine, but was covered in filo pastry with what felt like cheap fish and a load of peas. Not quite what we’re expecting. Tried to complain but the lady didn’t seem to want to hear the details and just said she would take it up with the chef. Hence the review.

Cena in solitaria...

It was nicely presented and came with the spicy chips and salad with helping of coleslaw (I'm not normally a fan of coleslaw but this was delicious) I had to removed one of the burgers from the bun to make it small enough to eat. I didn't mind this as in just ate the other with the chips and salad. PT :-) and I stayed at the Beaufort Park Hotel over a 5 day period. He has stayed here often in the past due to work; however this was my first true taste of the place and I must say I was disappointed.Trying the Arches for lunch we were met with a rather 'interesting' woman who I took for the Grandmother of the proprietor. She repeatedly asked for the order, and took such a time that a queue built quickly. Only having an hour for lunch we cringed when we wanted another coffee.Confident that the evening would offer more engaged staff we came back to the Arches for dinner.I chose the curried lamb tagine, with rice and small pittas... what was offered came in a tagine dish which was clean (obviously not cooked traditionally) making it feel more like a stew. The rice was neatly piled to the side and my preference was to place the meat from the tagine on to the rice and use the pittas to scoop and dip into the remaining sauce. Now, the dish wasn't big so when I found only 4 barely bite-size bits of sorry looking non-curried lamb after fishing around in a pond of butternut squash, I felt completely cheated.PT :-) had paid £8 for fish and chips which looked like Moby Dick on his plate, and I sat with a £13 pile of rice, butternut squash stew and a couple of very small pittas... as you can imagine I was less than amused.I brought my dilemma to the attention of a rather dour looking woman on the bar; who promptly scuttled off to tell the restaurant manager. He followed behind her shortly apologising and offering to replace said dish with much more meat, for our trouble we were offered a free desert. Not being desert people PT and I declined, but informed him we were staying at the hotel for a while and would be in to eat again. We thanked him for offering a larger quantity of meat but pointed out that we wouldn't now be able to eat together as my food would be delayed. The possibility of a free meal the following night would have prompted us to repay that loyalty by eating for the remainder of our stay, however the restaurant manager declined and we ate elsewhere from then on.I'm glad we did because the food at The Drovers just down the road was to die for, as was the service.SW :-)The general cleanliness of the hotel rooms calls into question the overall standards at this establishment as can be seen from the photos during our stay.

We've been planning to visit this establishment for some time having noticed it when passing on the bus and observing the 'all day food' sign. Having been delayed by other business, we were seeking a late lunch. The bar was almost empty - fair enough for mid-afternoon, mid-week. We looked at the specials board and identified our choices and my partner went to the bar to place our order. There was immediate confusion over the drinks - the request for a large orange juice and soda was met with whether that was orange squash. We were able to place our food order. Very quickly another member of staff appeared with cutlery and place mats and the food arrived very quickly thereafter. The main dishes had clearly been heated in a microwave but were acceptable, chips were freshly fried and hot. Basically nothing wrong, but nothing particularly good - and whether the meal was worth £8.95 each is debatable. But it was mid-afternoon, we wanted hot food and few places in the locality will serve a meal at that time.We would visit again under similar circumstances, but we would not plan to eat in this establishment if going out for a meal.

Went with colleagues for lunchtime meal. It was quite quiet in the Arches Bar. The food was nice and those serving were very polite but the lady behind the bar taking the orders was quite abrupt. There were 6 of us and when we paid at the end separately she seemed to lose track and thought one of us hadn't paid. Although she said she'd deal with it we were made to feel as though we were at fault. I've experienced a similar attitude from this person on a previous lunchtime visit in December 2013. Not sure I'll go back for that reason.

We live not far from this place, and if we are busy, and then find ourselves starving..its the closest place to us for grub..!! Its OK...the food is OK..the service is OK..the prices are OK..nothing stands out about this place, having said that, its always quite busy..so draw your own conclusions about that...!! We still go there now and again, so that speaks for itself doesn't it?? Its clean, toilets are clean and fresh...easy parking, and no need to book for lunch during the week certainly. Yes, its worth a visit by all means. We wouldn't go there for a special occasion, but it fits the bill for a quick lunch and drink when needs must. We (the public..) expect quite a lot more than we did, say, 5 years ago, in terms of service, value for money, and quality of food..perhaps this eatery hasn't moved as fast as it should have taking all that into consideration. Still I say, go and see for yourselves, perhaps I'm getting more demanding in my old age..!!!

I recently booked an evening reunion dinner at the hotel. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble. Lesley dealt with the booking and managed the event in a pleasant and professional manner. Everything about the evening was excellent. The food was tasty and served efficiently by the waiting on staff. The table was tastefully arranged and there was even menus celebrating the night- which was a kind thought and a memorable souvenir. For a special event I would recommend this hotel and I have no doubt that this will be a first of many reunions there!

I have been here quite a few times, usually monthly for carvery on a Sunday afternoon.£7.50 very good portions. The fact that the gravy is glutenfree is great. Lots more on the menu and a specials board.

Our favourite restaurant was bursting at the seams, so we travelled just half a mile up the road to try our luck here. No problem! We had a choice of seats and were quickly served with drinks and given menus to peruse. A decent enough menu, with plenty of old favourites and some new to us. I must admit that we have been here in the past and not, at times, particularly enjoyed the experience. However, on this occasion, all was well. The food was excellent, tasty and well cooked. The service was attentive and speedy. We didn't go for anything involved, just burger and fish and chips, but they satisfied our hunger nicely. Will call again.

Lots of cowboy tradesmen who come in threes and order breakfast a slice and a sausage roll holding up the queue! Why no women in the queue?
