Stylish, welcoming, smart surroundings. Accommodating and spacious for a guest in a wheelchair. The place was packed, but Diana impressed us, serving us swiftly, with a smile, remembering everything we asked. The food was great - I really enjoyed my fried chicken and waffle. But the live Motown music, and the atmosphere, was just outstanding. Singing, dancing - we will be back for more. Such a special experience.

Excellent welcome from this amazingly dog friendly venue. The staff at this venue were all friendly, attentive and made my visit with my dog such an enjoyable one.

I wa here yesterday for Fat Tonys brunch which was amazing, however I would like thank the member of your security team called Preny I think him name was as he help when I had panic attack and really helped me, great venue, great staff and a great event.

La comida era genial como lo era el servicio, y en cuanto a los cantantes, wow increíble. Bonita mezcla de grupos de edad también. Definitivamente volveré.

GG was great service and very good at recommending the right dishes. Really enjoyed the baked Alaska that he advised. You must give it a go, but maybe not if you have another meeting I would have added a photo but I videoed it and can’t upload!

Be aware of the staff call Gigi. His attitude was offensive. For example, when I placed an additional order, he neither responded nor nodded; instead, he sighed and walked away. Other colleagues who attended the farewell party also questioned his behavior.

Great service, super happy waiter (GG), made up for the average quality food. Ordered the vegetarian burger, not great. The place is lively, and has a nice atmosphere.

I was greeted by a lovely young lady who instantly made me feel welcome and sorted our table to suit our new timings. All servers were oustanding , however, GG stood out on attentiveness and kindness. The food was delicious and the seabass, a chefs' special, it was delicious. This will definitely be a place to recharge every time I am in town!

Had a fabulous time! Food was delicious and the bar area for drinks is great too. Have been with colleagues, brought clients and even my mum for dinner. Definitely a go to place in bank for me. Shout out to GG, attentive, professional and a clearly hard worker - Im sure he’s a valuable member on the staff there.

dined here last night with my partner, was looking forward to trying a different restaurant as we don’t do that very often. Unfortunately it was mediocre at best. As someone who works in a restaurant as a supervisor myself i don’t understand how they weren’t able to provide enjoyable service even when it wasn’t busy. You could tell the servers didn’t want to be there which i can understand somewhat it’s not always an amazing job, however if you’re charging customers 12.5% service which i did pay as again i understand what it’s like to be in their position, you’d think they’d at least pretend to want to serve you but unfortunately not. Moving onto the food, it was okay, portion sized for what you pay are definitely extortionate but that’s most restaurants nowadays so you can’t really blame them. The restaurant bit is right next to the bar so it’s super rowdy, if you’re looking for a nice date night this isn’t the place to go. All in all i wouldn’t return and i’d definitely recommend looking at many other restaurants in the town centre before coming here. I’d also suggest to the owners and managers to hire staff that actually want to be there or maybe you’re doing something wrong as managers because they’re your employees.

In 2012 The Anthologist was the place my life changed. Back here now in 2025 and whilst not quite as life changing, it was still bloody nice - thanks to GG for being a wonderful host! 😀

Ya casi no salgo siendo madre de un niño menor de 6 años, así que fue un verdadero placer salir. Le pedí a la camarera que me recomendara un plato de mariscos. Decidí entre la tarta de pescado y la lingüística Specials Cangrejo de río. Ella dijo que la lingüina (más caro en £ 20 más cargo por servicio) bien valía la pena y delicioso. Llegó en un tazón pequeño, la pasta estaba menos que par hervida. Había montones de trozos de maíz secos arrojados, como si hubieran sido cocinados horas o un día antes y simplemente arrojados. Había sabor CERO, solo sabor a aceite. Sin sabor a marisco, sin espiga, sin crema ni nada. Solo maíz seco y el pequeño cangrejo de río. La camarera no se molestó en traer una cuchara hasta que la perseguí para coger una. Horrible y se fue con hambre. ¡Completo desperdicio de dinero! . . . . ahora en comparación con mi lingüina casera. . . . . ver la imagen! ¡El antólogo necesita nuevos chefs!

The GG was an amazing host. He made us feel welcome from the time we arrived. I could not have asked for a better experience in this bar/restaurant.

Seems quite antisocial to me. Very loud music with really heavy bass booming. If it was soundproofed better I would have zero issue but you can hear it well down the street. Nuisance

Overall we had a great time. Food was very nice and atmosphere just right.

It’s our place where to go after a long day at work. Staff are friendly and the place is super cozy. Ladies toilets are so fancy for ideal for pictures.

I went to your Gresham street branch on a Tuesday night with 2 of my friends. There were barely any people in the venue! We got our first round quite fast. When I went to order our second, I ordered 2 Asahi and a double Baileys. When the bartender free poured my drink I asked him if it is a double and he said yes, to which I asked him if it is a 100ml or 50ml, as usually Baileys is served as 50ml for single and 100ml for a double! Another bartender said double is always 50ml and has never heard of it being 100ml. I asked him to check with his manager and he said "I will only check because I am curious" which was weird but ok.... after checking with the manager, he said it's 50ml, to which I said it's fine and was about to pay. The first bartender then laughed in my face (not a giggle) a full blown belly laugh, to which after told "no need to laugh about it" he said " it's ok, it's ok... no worries"! I have managed bars for 10 years and this is the first time anyone has laughed in my face, especially when not knowing standered serve for bevarages... Manageress was alright... came ready for an argument however still listened and tried to sort the situation! Overall, was an alwful experience and I left slightly after, as I wasn't feeling like drinking in this environment.

Thank you to everyone at The Anthologist for making our team lunch a really enjoyable event. Food, service and setting were all fabulous. Hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

The overall experience was good but my Guest, who arrived a little before me, was told my confirmed reservation could not be found which was embarrassing for me. I registered my disappointment on arrival & did get an apology.

Fabulous atmosphere for our work's Christmas dinner. Staff were so helpful leading up to the day and attentive on the night. Food and wine was very good.

We attended The Motown Brunch 28/12/24 and saw the Baby Grand Collective Gospel Band. A great afternoon and thanks to all involved.

Came here for after work drinks had a private area. Nice Venue DJ could’ve been better. Did get a bottle of kraken though and enjoyed that. It’s just another city bar which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but don’t expect anything special and that’s okay.

I was hugely disappointed with the food quality and taste; both the starters and desserts were mediocre.

We recently hosted our corporate Christmas party at The Anthologist, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm, festive, and perfectly suited to the holiday season. The venue itself is stunning, with a modern yet cozy atmosphere that made everyone feel right at home. A special shoutout to Robbie and the entire team, who went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of the event ran smoothly. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and friendly demeanour were exceptional. Speaking of food and drinks—wow! The menu was delicious and creatively crafted, with something for everyone. The cocktails were a particular highlight, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. It was clear that a lot of thought and care went into every aspect of the dining experience. All in all, our Christmas party was an evening to remember, and much of that is thanks to The Anthologist and their incredible team. We highly recommend this venue for any corporate event or celebration, especially during the holiday season. Thank you, Robbie, and the team, for making our event so special!

I went to their gospel brunch. Brilliant entertainment, bad service (because they packed too many people in and not enough staff), food was AWFUL. Inedible. Wouldn’t go back to this venue.

It was an amazing experience in DJ Fat Toni event last Saturday for me and my friends.Food quality was normal.Bar service was just brilliant.Behind the bar, Srizon served us like 8 different cocktails and spirits in a short time .I must say he is one of the quickest bartenders I have ever seen and cocktails were so perfect. He was very cheerful and energetic with us , loved this guy .Atmosphere was alright, would love to come again soon.

Me and my grandma were in Antologist I would like to note that GG was very gentle and polite with us in communication, for the first time I see such an erudite and versatile person in such a field, as a person who has been in this business for many years, I was pleasantly surprised by the manner of behavior and communication of the young person, he seemed interesting to me, but very shy, it was very tasty, but the service was tastier than the menu
