The Annex in West Devon

Nice spot for some tasty tapas. Was a solo walk-in so did feel a little left high and dry for a bit, but was eventually found a spot, and food was nice.

Great vegan and vegetarian options, had a few different menu options here and all of it excellent.

The food and service was superb..definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great atmosphere. The place was buzzing. Food was delicious, although a couple of our dishes came out a lot later than the rest of the table. Staff were busy, so it was difficult to get their attention, but overall, fabulous. It's very popular, so it's probably best to book!

The annex is always a firm favourite for celebrating and enjoying good tapas. Definitely worth the hour drive to get there, friendly and welcoming staff. Love the atmosphere, never feels overwhelming and food is top tier! Always recommend the Annex to friends and family. Already cannot wait to go back!

Really good. Went when it first opened but greatly improved. Good food, service and atmosphere.

Another 10 out of 10 visit. I use The Annex regularly for lunch and dinner, staff meetings with my team and for family occasions. The dishes are always varied and this time I tried a new one which was the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce. It was delicious, great to see on the menu at a very reasonable price. The welcome is always friendly and the staff attentive, I can highly recommend this small independent business which is a great asset to Tavistock and is well worth the visit.

Came here back in May this year and had a fantastic lunch with a warm welcome and excellent service so decided to return for another birthday celebration as we were so impressed before. Regretfully this time round it was no where near the same. As we were a big group (8 of us) we had to pre-order the food - fair enough. On arrival there wasn't great welcome and it then took about 15 minutes before coming to take our drinks order. When serving our drinks and opening the wine, the poor waiter was distracted by another customer and didn't follow though in continuing to open the bottle (which the bottle opener was half way through) so we had to finish that. Then, the food was another half an hour or so after that meaning we had been there for about 45 minutes already - bearing mind this was pre-ordered and you are limited on how long you can have the table for. When the food arrived, it was absolutely embarrassing - the portion sizes were like that of a snack. This wasn't tapas, it was an insult. The sourdough bread is £5.10 per portion and all it is is literally 4/5 slices of very small baguette bread. The so called "small-plates" were indeed VERY small. Some dishes lacked seasoning and were also bland - different or new chef perhaps? So be very cautious when ordering your food - our bill was £326.00 and we left hungry and very disappointed. Before in May we were stuffed. I have also read other people's reviews saying similar things so please do take note. It's clear the staff are either new or need training - by all means they were not rude at all, but inexperienced. We did leave them a tip out of courtesy however and didn't want to cause a fuss and complain on the day. Sadly we will not be returning, which is a real shame. Wish they had kept the same flair as before.

Incredible Restaurant. We were a walk in and were given the best experience. Staff were attentive. Food was great the vibe was chilled. Very well priced and the cocktails are a must! Have to say very impressed and you must go!!

Very dissapointing, went last year and it was ok but this time portions were smaller and very expensive. 4 very small slices of sourdough £5 ??? wont go again.

Excellent service & food! Nothing is too much trouble.

Good quality food However, it's slightly overpriced for the portions sizes and all foods arriving at the same time, leaving the main courses in getting cold. It would also be good if food could be served in stages and really hot (not just cold, burned, and dry like the Bomba Rice Tapas and Harissa cold lamb on a cold hummus). Seabass fish and squid rings were a hit and fresh. Chicken mini burgers had an awful and weird taste as a result of the sauce and buns. The coffee was also great at the end.

They have an excellent and varied menu. We were a group of seven and chose two dishes each, and lined them up along the table which I would recommend for larger groups. The wine choice is also very good, something for every pallet.

Fabulous food, drinks and service, the bang bang chicken was a hands down winner in our group of 6 and the aged sliced steak was so good that 2 of our friends ordered it again instead of dessert 🤣 One improvement would be to offer a ‘banquet style’ bundle so instead of getting randomly sized dishes (some come in 3;4;5 sizes), we could order a banquet for 6 so that everyone gets one of the same dish…

My husband & I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary with brunch here this morning and all I can say is WOW. Amazing pancakes, mimosas, hot drinks and very friendly staff. I actually got ready for our wedding and we spent our wedding night in the garden pod attached at The Rockmount so it felt very apt to visit for breakfast. We will definitely be visiting again very soon.

We have been to The Annex restaurant several times whilst visiting Tavistock and its our go to restaurant. The food and service have been excellent every time. On each occasion the restaurant has been busy but this does not detract from the quality of the food or service. It is a Tapas style menu and each plate is prepared to a very high standard being tasty, varied and beautifully presented. We will definately be going again when we are next in Tavistock.

Best meal we have eaten in England during our trip from America. If we ever come back this way I would certainly eat here again.

Good selection of tapas dishes, the staff explained any we asked about. Service was great and a very smart restaurant with reasonable prices.

Been going to go here for ages and it’s often been booked. The tapas were good, particularly the chorizo and the caprese salad. We enjoy this way of eating. The place is clean and well presented, service is good. On a nice day it would be good for coffee, brunch and sitting outside, which will be our next planned visit. We had dinner inside on this visit. Others have said it can be a bit noisy due to hard floors etc echoing sound, we found the noise levels fine but maybe a few soft furnishings wouldn’t go amiss. It’s a really nice restaurant and we’ll return soon.

Visited with friends for lunch on 10/09. Very dog friendly which was great. Great selections of drinks. We had the Tapas Board for lunch, firstly very reasonably priced but most of all, fantastic flavours - would recommend the chicken satay, meatballs and patatas bravas. The service was top notch. I would definitely return when next in the area and not drive so I can enjoy the wine! Thanks guys, great lunch!

Superb restaurant with friendly, efficient staff, great food with a varied Tapas menu. We wholeheartedly recommend the Annex for a special occasion or just for an evening out with friends.

An unusual and attractive restaurant with a terrace. A great busy atmosphere and the food was excellent. We had the suggested number of dishes, five for a couple, and with desserts, we found the amount of food was perfect. Amazing flavours, we’ve been looking for a restaurant with interesting and tasty food, getting away from pub grub.

Great food…….party of 4 veggie/vegan 1 carnivore all very happy with our options and choice. Bonus for us very dog friendly inside or out. Charming service…….defiantly be back!

Really interesting and varied food choices, superb selection of drinks too. Lovely friendly staff, great atmosphere. It won't be long before we return. Parking is limited near by on the road so you may need to leave time to park in the town and walk to The Annex.

Went for a birthday celebration. And the staff were so friendly. The food was absolutely delicious.

We went to dinner Friday 07/26/2024. Honestly, it was really good. The food was delicious. We would have gone back but we couldn't do it. The service, however, was not very well organized. A young blonde woman has completely forgotten us. She took our food and wine order but completely forgot the wine. The maces gules arrived without the wine. We ate them like that. Fortunately, a charming young boy came to the rescue upon seeing our distress. Things worked out quite well and we were able to finish our dinner properly. The food is very good but the organization is disorganized. We gave a tip in euros to the young boy who is very lively and above all who likes to do well. I wish him a bright future in this profession because he will know how to do it very well.

My favourite place to eat in Tavistock. Great tapas. I have been for dates and family meals here. The baked camembert is great value and I also must praise the braised pork and big juicy prawns.

Great location, decor and atmosphere. Excellent wine list. Amazing selection of tapas - everything was full of well balanced flavour and texture. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was great. All rounded off with dessert cocktails. We actually booked a night's stay in Tavistock entirely for the purpose of having our family celebration dinner at the Annex and it didn't disappoint. I wish we lived nearer - we'd be regulars!

Cracking little place, big portions for tapas so be careful how much you order however variety is the spice of live so over indulge. The food was fantastic, full of flavour and great quality

I booked a lunchtime table as a surprise for my husband's birthday and sat on the lovely sheltered terrace. All the staff were great and the tapas was the best we've ever eaten. We'll definitely be back.

Possibly the best food I have had in a very long time. Four us visited for lunch and selected around 8 dishes to share and they were all beautifully presented and wonderfully cooked. Nice feel to the restaurant and the staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. We will definitely be visiting again.

The food last night was incredible. Faultless in my opinion. Two of us, we sat outside and ordered 6 tapas to share. We started with the bruschetta with fresh tomatoes,garlic and onion, so much flavour! Then followed by the prawns which were so tasty, chorizo in a sticky to die for sauce, bang bang cauliflower was wow! Who knew you could make cauliflower taste so good. Duck spring rolls with actual duck inside not the usual mush you tend to get and potatoe bravas so yum! Great service and lovely wine. My new favourite spot to eat in Tavistock. Thank you!

First time visiting The Annex, first time we had experienced Tapas . But we will definitely be returning again and will thoroughly recommend to all our friends and family who haven't already been. We can now see why it is hard to get a table booked unless you book well in advance, as it is so popular.
