The Annex in West Devon

i went here on a weekend away with my boyfriend and we were so impressed, food was absolutely amazing, staff were brilliant, also had some delicious cocktails, would definitely recommend!

This was our second visit to the Annex and everything about the visit was first rate from the delicious food to the very attentive staff. This is becoming one of our favourite restaurants to visit.

Perfect place for cocktails and tapas in a smart casual setting. The Patatas Bravas is the best I’ve ever had!

Came here with my mother for tapas , the venue has lovely outdoor seating in the sunshine. The staff were friendly and welcoming and explained the menu to us. We got two of the 3 for £15 deal, food arrived promptly and was delicious , the steak being our favourite. Would recommend and will be returning again soon!

Fantastic food and service. Very noisy though, especially as the two of us were sitting right in the middle of several parties of 4 people.

My new favourite restaurant! The food is fabulous, I can thoroughly recommend the margaritas and the staff were lovely. There is a ramp up to the door but it's long and steep so, if you're in a manual wheelchair, you may need help. Also, be aware that there is no pavement on the same side of the road and no drop kerb on the opposite - fine if you're able-bodied but, if not, consider being dropped off.

Always such a lovely ambience to enjoy the fantastic food. The service received was excellant.

Had a lovely dinner at the annexe! There is so much choice available and caters for both vegetarian and vegan appetites. All of the tapas we had were delicious and the service was really great and attentive and they were really great at advising us on some good choices from the menu! Great selection of drinks available and would definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved this place, I came to Tavistock for the weekend with my partner and one year old son and this restaurant really was outstanding! The food was incredible, the staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful and we just loved the look! Felt very cosy yet sophisticated. This restaurant alone makes me want to come back and revisit Tavistock, a fine gem for tapas food!

This was our first visit to The Annex, and it was delightful. The staff were excellent, the food was delicious, the overall experience left 5 diners completly satisfied. We will be back.

A wonderful little find with a great atmosphere. The food is absolutely delightful. We have been a few times now & we've never been disappointed. The Bang Bang selection (chicken, Halloumi & Cauliflower) is to die for! There's a varied drinks menu too. From Hot drinks to Cocktails & beers. I can't recommend this place enough.

This restaurant is always my top favourite and this past week I’ve been lucky enough to go there 3 times with different friends. First lunch visit, 3 tapas for £15 from a selection so great value. Or you can choose other dishes. The menu is adapted regularly and always delicious with choices for all dietary preferences.

what a find! we went for an early dinner on the way back from a long walk on Dartmoor . lovely atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and fantastic tapas. the tapas small plates were really generous ,and the food was delicious. great range of vegan, vegetarian and plant based alternatives . would definitely visit again. Dog friendly too!

This was our (family of 3) first visit to Annex, Tavistock. The Tapas dishes in Annex are delicious. The taste is very good with burst of flavours. The service is excellent and we felt welcomed with the smiling faces of the staff. We will definitely be having our meals here when we are around Tavistock.

Visited for a birthday meal with my husband. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was excellent. We visit Spain eating authentic tapas regularly and think that the Annex is on par if not better. The ambience is great for a couple of a party. Highly recommended .

This was our first visit and we were not disappointed, we will be back. Especially as we could bring our pet dog.

Tables too close together, very busy and noisy which did not make for a relaxing atmosphere. Food nice but seems to have relapsed from previous visit. Staff friendly and efficient.

Simply a brilliant place. Tapas choices are wide and lots for vegetarians. Great atmosphere and all the staff help make it a great place to go for food and drink. Can't wait to try breakfast. Well done all involved.

Popped up for some lunch on a Saturday afternoon- what’s nice surprise! Slightly out of town but a 5 min walk up the hill. Superb tapas as great atmosphere. Will certainly be coming back.

Without a doubt the best place to visit in Tavistock and actually one of our favourite places to eat in Devon & Cornwall. Always very welcoming with great service. The food is stunning and always something new to try on the menu when we visit. We recently spent our third New Years Eve at the Annex and thoroughly enjoyed it once again. Thank you!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Annex, and I can honestly say it was a lovely dining experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff made me feel right at home, and their attention to detail was unparalleled. The ambiance of the restaurant was also top-notch – stylish yet comfortable, making it perfect for any occasion. The staff seemed to genuinely care about making each guest’s experience memorable, and it really showed. We will certainly be when visiting the area! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a fab lunchtime meal. Atmosphere, service & food was great. Highly recommend a visit if u haven’t been before.

Came on the last Wednesday lunchtime before Christmas 2024. Steady miserable rain as we walked up the hill from the town. It’s not a ‘gentle incline’ and not being able to park a car up here is a measurable inconvenience. But the restaurant, the hospitality, the almost but not quite too complicated and certainly tasty and fairly priced menu, easily justified the effort. We would come again. Our ample meal for three came to about £60. But we didn’t have any booze and only one of us had a dessert. The other customers were substantially women who also looked as if they were regulars.

I went for drinks with a friend this Sunday and had a blast! We were greeted with a warm welcome, sat down and had the menus explained to us. After much deliberation I decided to start with the English garden and my friend had an amaretto sour and they were both sublime. The atmosphere and staff were exceptional and I will be returning!

An impromptu walk-in early dinner, great attentive service by Peter M and delicious dishes served. Yum!

Nice spot for some tasty tapas. Was a solo walk-in so did feel a little left high and dry for a bit, but was eventually found a spot, and food was nice.

Great vegan and vegetarian options, had a few different menu options here and all of it excellent.

The food and service was superb..definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great atmosphere. The place was buzzing. Food was delicious, although a couple of our dishes came out a lot later than the rest of the table. Staff were busy, so it was difficult to get their attention, but overall, fabulous. It's very popular, so it's probably best to book!

The annex is always a firm favourite for celebrating and enjoying good tapas. Definitely worth the hour drive to get there, friendly and welcoming staff. Love the atmosphere, never feels overwhelming and food is top tier! Always recommend the Annex to friends and family. Already cannot wait to go back!

Another 10 out of 10 visit. I use The Annex regularly for lunch and dinner, staff meetings with my team and for family occasions. The dishes are always varied and this time I tried a new one which was the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce. It was delicious, great to see on the menu at a very reasonable price. The welcome is always friendly and the staff attentive, I can highly recommend this small independent business which is a great asset to Tavistock and is well worth the visit.

Regretfully this time round it was no where near the same. As we were a big group (8 of us) we had to pre-order the food - fair enough. On arrival there wasn't great welcome and it then took about 15 minutes before coming to take our drinks order. When serving our drinks and opening the wine, the poor waiter was distracted by another customer and didn't follow though in continuing to open the bottle (which the bottle opener was half way through) so we had to finish that. Then, the food was another half an hour or so after that meaning we had been there for about 45 minutes already - bearing mind this was pre-ordered and you are limited on how long you can have the table for. When the food arrived, it was absolutely embarrassing - the portion sizes were like that of a snack. This wasn't tapas, it was an insult. The sourdough bread is £5.10 per portion and all it is is literally 4/5 slices of very small baguette bread. The so called "small-plates" were indeed VERY small. Some dishes lacked seasoning and were also bland - different or new chef perhaps? So be very cautious when ordering your food - our bill was £326.00 and we left hungry and very disappointed. Before in May we were stuffed. I have also read other people's reviews saying similar things so please do take note. It's clear the staff are either new or need training - by all means they were not rude at all, but inexperienced. We did leave them a tip out of courtesy however and didn't want to cause a fuss and complain on the day. Sadly we will not be returning, which is a real shame. Wish they had kept the same flair as before.

Incredible Restaurant. We were a walk in and were given the best experience. Staff were attentive. Food was great the vibe was chilled. Very well priced and the cocktails are a must! Have to say very impressed and you must go!!

Excellent service & food! Nothing is too much trouble.

Good quality food However, it's slightly overpriced for the portions sizes and all foods arriving at the same time, leaving the main courses in getting cold. It would also be good if food could be served in stages and really hot (not just cold, burned, and dry like the Bomba Rice Tapas and Harissa cold lamb on a cold hummus). Seabass fish and squid rings were a hit and fresh. Chicken mini burgers had an awful and weird taste as a result of the sauce and buns. The coffee was also great at the end.

They have an excellent and varied menu. We were a group of seven and chose two dishes each, and lined them up along the table which I would recommend for larger groups. The wine choice is also very good, something for every pallet.

My husband & I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary with brunch here this morning and all I can say is WOW. Amazing pancakes, mimosas, hot drinks and very friendly staff. I actually got ready for our wedding and we spent our wedding night in the garden pod attached at The Rockmount so it felt very apt to visit for breakfast. We will definitely be visiting again very soon.

This is the second time we have visited The Annex. Very good!
