Went there early afternoon on the Tuesday. Game of pool and a Guinnessbeing my guilty pleasure. Prity empty but another couple followed us in and started playing pool. Got our drinks and sat down to wait for the game to finish when the music was for some reason turned up so high I couldn't hear myself think. I don't think there interested in customers and use this ploy to get rid of them. It worked! Everyone left.

The Angel on Crossgate is a superb bar in Durham that offers a fantastic selection of drink's and an excellent food range that is cooked and brought over to the Angel bar from Ye Old Elm Tree across the road. This is a great bar and the only alternative bar in Durham that differed from the other pubs and bar's we went to in Durham on a day trip from Newcastle. The Angel has a traditional pub look with a whitewashed exterior but once you go into this bar you can see a superb interior with many punk poster's throughout the interior and many more alterative images and very good seating area's and a superb outside seating area. The Angel hosts live music and quizz nights and pool tournaments and is aimed at the younger age group of drinkers but anyone is welcome in this fantastic bar. We went here very early in the evening and this bar was starting to get busy'when here we had a Strongebow brewery fruit cider a very refreshing cider served iced cold and well priced. The Angel won't be to everyone's taste but we enjoyed our visit to here and would visit again the next time we our in Durham.Very easy to find from Crossgate Peth bus stop it's a short walk. (This is my first review of how the Angel). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-12.00-23.00. Friday-Saturday-12.00-00.00. Sunday-12.00-23.00. Nearest Bus Stop. Crossgate Peth bus stop.

My twin brother Stephen and I were in Newcastle for 8 days enjoying the great tourist sites and visiting the wonderful pubs in the city on the River Tyne, we decided to have a day out in Durham and jumped the train to this beautiful little town and one of the first pubs we visited was The Angel Pub . This is a lovely little pub,a cute looking serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings, tv's to enjoy the, nice wall art, a pool table and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a very cosy pub indeed. We were here on a Friday afternoon, we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, as it was a roasting hot afternoon we decided to have a Strongbow dark fruit cider, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and settled down and planned out the day ahead while sipping our cider's. Cider served here was really good, a tasty, effervescent cider that certainly cut through the thirst, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub in such a beautiful town enjoying a freezing cold cider. We really enjoyed our ciders in here before we moved on, although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Angel Pub we were totally impressed. The Angel Pub is easy to locate along Crossgate. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, Midday till Midnight. Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

We went for an afternoon tea and a spa day at Raddison Blu Hotel, and as always, had been a great experience. They refurbished the restaurant, and it looks so great. The spa day was really nice, too.

At £28 per person from one of the top hotels in the North East I was expecting a lot better, 4 small finger sandwiches each, 4 scones and small cakes. Not a lot of effort and no selection of desserts

I booked a table on line and when we arrived we were told that they don’t take bookings on a bank holiday. Would have been helpful to know this beforehand. Lucky for us we went to a Turkish restaurant

We go to Bolams food In Sedgefield a few times a year. Even though it’s a 40 minute drive away it’s worth it for the quality of the produce. This time we got 2 reduced beef joints, various chicken mea
