I've been drinking in and around Wisbech for a number of years and there was a time when the Angel was our pub of choice. That was as much down to the landlords at the time as much as anything else. These days we use the Angel as one in a string of pubs to visit when we fancy a little pub crawl. It's much the same as it's always been. A drinkers pub, a modest selection of drinks and a modest area to drink it in. The atmosphere in my experience has always been one of drinkers having a good time. With the addition of some later night gatherings with their lower room and their extension out back the pub is probably getting more custom now than it ever has. They have a little pool room which always goes down well in pubs but is sorely missing from so many these days. It's not the best pub you'll walk into in Wisbech, but it's not the worst either.

This now served "Fully loaded" brand of food to eat in or take away. The food was lovely with huge portions, definitely value for money. The pub plays very loud music in the bar!! and very limited drinks available. Staff were friendly and dogs are welcome.

Queued up for a nice caramel latte and a frappe as well as a cake as a quick rest stop and refreshments. Got served and waited for our drinks. Finally got them and sat down to find I’d been charged 70p for a shot of caramel yet had a plain coffee. Apparently, my “tastebuds didn’t notice the caramel”?? How rude, not to mention incorrect seeing as how I let someone else try the coffee as well and they both said it was plain coffee. I know people like to make a profit but surely charging for something and then not giving them that something is against the law? May seem petty to some to complain but, if you ask for something and are charged accordingly, surely it’s ok to expect to receive what you have paid for?? Not a happy bunny, more at the young chaps attitude than anything. Whatever happened to customer service?
