We arrived as we'd seen online it had good cask beer, before we could even order a drink in this empty pub the manager I'm guessing banished us to a cramped backroom because we had children with us, even though the pub was empty, obviously not a very family friendly pub. Our baby made the slightest cry and he just gave us a look and put the music on. Wasn't made to feel very welcome at all, will never return.

Went to The Angel to watch the boxing (Tyson v Whyte) as they’d advertised. I’d phoned the pub earlier in the day to ask if they’d be showing the boxing, which they’d confirmed. On arrival was met with empty beer taps and taps that by the barmaids own admission were ‘flat’, switching to bottles on the promise that the boxing would be shown imminently, we were left waiting for over a hour before anyone came downstairs to switch the channel over, having asked staff several times to switch the channel over to be met with… “the owner is on his way down”. By this stage it was too late to make our way to another pub to watch the boxing. We’d by now missed all the under cards. On arrival of the owner (which was as the main fight was beginning) he’d very apparently NOT pre-booked any boxing for the night as advertised and confirmed by previous phone call. Blindly and painfully he fumbled through channels looking for said boxing. Dismissing any advice from punters on which channel it would be on. We eventually left in haste in attempt to get home to stream at home. Thus wasting more time and defeating the entire purpose for coming out to to watch the fight. Having wasted all that time on attending the bar and their terrible beer. The bar itself had a stagnant odour, uninspired drink selection and uninviting atmosphere. I shall certainly not be returning to The Angel!

I visited Westbury on Friday 28th May and went for a beer in the evening at The Angel and was glad to back after a long period of closure, due to the COVID virus. The hospitality that is displayed is excellent and typical of an Oldy Worldy Pub ! The Landlord is a great guy, who knows his stuff when it comes to beer and serves some fantastic ales ! Looking forward to visiting again

New landlord has only been there for a month or so but the improvement is already noticeable and the refurb is ongoing so will be even better next time. Friendly welcoming landlord and nice atmosphere. Will return.

The Angel has new landlord and the oldest pub in Westbury is being saved. Lots of rooms and bar - love the library room - ideal place to park the husband/wife while you shop in Morrisons! great selection of keg beers. Watch this space its going to get better.

After a period of closure, the new management has given it a new lease of life. It's clean, tidy and attractive, while retaining a lived-in pub atmosphere. A good range of well-kept beers, and very reasonable prices. A cheery and welcoming host. Pool table. No food yet, but apparently coming soon.

Only a short visit. Friends wedding reception. Food OK nothing to write home about. Not bad I suppose? Place was spotlessly clean. I will go back and give it a proper go one of these days....

A lovely welcome from Jemma, who oversaw our evening. We were a party of 25 celebrating an 18th birthday. Food was excellent, better than I had expected and great value. Portion size sensible. I had the macaroni cheese with bacon and felt it had been prepared locally as opposed to being factory made. All 6 on my table including 2 children thought their dinners good. For such a large group service was speedy, and table clearing timely. I felt no pressure to rush. Puddings went down well and the mini pudding with a coffee was thought particularly good. A special mention for Jemma as she managed to keep records such that bill payment was easy even though we paid in twos and small groups for what we had had. Good value nice pub grub well served.

Please advertise on the menu outside that you don’t do food on Monday. We’d made our choice, gone in, ordered drinks and were then told. Only thing available pork pie/sausage roll (cold) which were sort of ok.
