Red Lion in Shropshire

A lovely welcome from Jemma, who oversaw our evening. We were a party of 25 celebrating an 18th birthday. Food was excellent, better than I had expected and great value. Portion size sensible. I had the macaroni cheese with bacon and felt it had been prepared locally as opposed to being factory made. All 6 on my table including 2 children thought their dinners good. For such a large group service was speedy, and table clearing timely. I felt no pressure to rush. Puddings went down well and the mini pudding with a coffee was thought particularly good. A special mention for Jemma as she managed to keep records such that bill payment was easy even though we paid in twos and small groups for what we had had. Good value nice pub grub well served.

We have a lovely lunch at The Red Lion in Shrewsbury. Delicious food and good service. Staff always smiles. The fish and chips and lasagne are delicious. We were spent a happy gathering there.

The pint I ordered was off a d the Lady behind the bar seamed disinterested at best, blaming it on a cold cellar!! She dis eventually swap it but wasn't very friendly. Pub generally is quite pleasant.

I went for a meal with my mum and we haven’t been to this place for years so we thought we’d go. We entered and waited as it says to wait to be seated but the bar staff just looked at us and didn’t seem interested in greeting us so we found our own table. No one came to take our order so I had a go on the app which is an awful app full of bugs. We ordered our food and didn’t wait too long for it to arrive which was good. The gammon I had looked lovely however the chips were so overcooked they were practically inedible so I ate some but left most of them. The gammon however was really nice. My mum said her Cajun chicken dish was lovely. She had different chips and they were cooked just right. The puddings were nice also. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere is nice, just my chips were awful.

I brought my 4 year old for the Breakfast with the Easter Bunny event and it was excellent. My boy loved meeting the Easter Bunny and all the other aspects of the event: the egg hunt, the activity packs and the chocolate bars which the Easter bunny gave out. Staff were friendly, helpful and great in general. They put a lot of effort into the event. The breakfast was very nice. I will definitely go back.

We came for the 'Breakfast with Easter Bunny ' morning... It was amazing ! Jemma , the deputy manageress had done an 'eggsellent' job of organising it. The children had goody bags , fun with the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt. All the staff were extremely helpful and we enjoyed our cooked breakfast. Well done everyone !

Had a really lovely meal with my partner it was the first time coming here, they were amazing catering for my sesame and sunflower allergy and were very kind throughout, amazing service

We were warmly greeted on arrival, order taken promptly and food brought out quickly, pipping hot, very well presented, great quality and cooked to perfection.We were very well looked after by Joe from the time we stepped in,to the time we left, couldn’t do enough for us,very polite and professional. My daughter has a peanut allergy and he was very thorough with explaining how the kitchen is run so felt very safe. Our first time here,will not be the last, looking toward to many visits as the menu is full of great choices with lots of different choices and items you don’t see on many other pub menus.Really liked how it’s decorated too, modern, clean, with lovely extra little touches.

We came as a large group for breakfast and really enjoyed ourselves. The welcome was friendly and the staff very efficient. We all enjoyed our food, which came out hot and quickly. The regular lunch/dinner menu is also varied and delicious with good options for children. We will be back.

A great family pub with something on the menu for everyone. The service was excellent and nothing was too much for the staff! Our party of 4 all really enjoyed the food and will definitely be returning. Thank you!

A lovely evening at The Red Lion in Shrewsbury. Excellent food and friendly and efficient service even though it was very busy. The beef and red wine lasagne was particularly good. We were able to sit outside afterwards on an unusually warmish April evening.

After booking a table on line just received a call asking for us to pre order and leave a deposit. Never had to do this before sadly they have lost out on a table of ten. Shame on them

Having already left a review recently, I would ordinarily not leave another one so soon. However, as it was a new menu, I felt it was only fair to comment. As always, the service was exceptional, Seán and Gemma were outstanding and so welcoming. The new menu delivered great value for money and some interesting choices. I personally opted for the Cheeseburger spring rolls starter, which were surprisingly good and followed that with the Pork Tomahawk main. What an amazing main meal.... much better than expected (order extra BBQ sauce with it). Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful meal and evening.

We booked in for 8 people for my husband's birthday and ordered drinks and main on the app. There was a drink that we didn't receive but when mentioned at the bar it was all sorted. All 8 of us enjoyed our meal. We couldn't order dessert on the app so ordered at the bar. There was a bit of a delay between all the desserts being brought out but it has started to get busy at that time. Staff were very accommodating, food was great and would definitely return, thank you.

Longer wait for food than warned about. However, most people had already eaten, so I'm not sure what the delay was. Our sizzler meals were nice but not really worth the money and were quite cold considering they were served on a sizzler, also the fries on the top of the pot were cold so must have been sat for a while. The staff were all really nice and looked to be working hard but we won't be rushing back.

Lovely service and lovely staff, they even let us keep the pint glass haha! They were really kind and patient even considering how busy it was. Cheap and cheerful, would recommend!

Fab place for meal chatting music not loud food lovely hot as well Friday evening was little busy but the staff worked well and coped with customers Only issue was desert ice cream melted due to hot glass dish and only 2 profitarols and no salted caramel to taste

Fantastic service! Food and bar was superb

We all loved our food, good quality and hot. A great selection of pudding which we couldn’t resist. We had a 25% off voucher to use, unfortunately it was only for week days which we wouldn’t be able to use as we travel to eat there and wouldn’t be able to visit it the week.

50min wait for food that was dry and overcooked. This was a business lunch that affected the rest of the day badly due to the excessive time it took for food to come. We won't be coming back.

Starters had to be served with the mains. My gammon was cold and my friend’s chicken was pink. Child’s meal was forgotten about. Awful experience

Surprised how busy it was for a Tuesday lunchtime, saying that the standard of service didn't drop an ounce... We ordered via the app and food and drinks were served very quickly. Only downside was one steak on a mixed grill wasn't the best. But mine was on point. Good value for money and good vibe. Edit.....middle of the year your ok, but anytime in December will be a one hour wait but they'll tell you half an hour. Under staffed for Christmas parties etc really didn't help the slow service and cold overcooked food.

Visited today in a party of 11 (pre-booked). Despite the pub being very busy, our food was all served together and piping hot. Puddings were delivered very swiftly and the service was efficient and pleasant.

This was a great visit. We only call in a couple of times a year and each time it has been different. The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. Really worth a visit for some straightforward, well cooked food. Big enough menu to sarltisfy anybodys' taste. We visited as a family of six.

We had a fantastic first visit to the Red Lion, Battlefield! The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We had a great time at the pub quiz, and Jemma, the manager, was always available to assist with anything we needed. She was exceptionally attentive, ensuring our food and drinks arrived promptly. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

As soon as you walk in there’s an amazing atmosphere, customer service is on point, the food is great quality plus they have a great selection of food on their menus. They have amazing prices on the menu, I’d always recommend this place to anyone and I’d always come here.

We went here for a family meal this evening, food was good, atmosphere was good as well. We didn’t have any hassle booking for a table of 14 at short notice, all food was prepared promptly, we would eat here again.

Came here for mum’s birthday ( 30/1/25) very warm welcome to start. Joe was are friendly waiter. Food very nice we all had something different not a problem with anything. Lovely people definitely be going back.

We loved it. We haven't been before but we will be coming back. I loved the child friendly atmosphere with games for the children to play. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was a nice table. The price was also extremely good!

Had to wait 40 minutes for the food although it was very busy and people who came in after us had their meals 15 minutes before ours. Ordered 5 meals and the burgers were fine but the mixed grills and steak and chips were cold and not cooked very well, had to ask for the steak sauce that we ordered. The staff were very nice though but a bit disappointed for the money we spent.
