I visited on a Saturday night with 2 friends. The menu is small but varied. We all had starter/main and desert. All the courses were presented well and the portions were a good size. All courses were cooked to a high standard and were very tasty. We were all very impressed with the food overall. Just a couple of points that let it down. The restaurant itself does need renovating, the decor does not match the foods high standard, also the toilets are in need of updating. Also the waiting staff do tend to rush you along and keep coming back very frequently. It was made quite clear at the end of the evening that they wanted us to leave....it wasn’t even 10 pm. On the whole we really enjoyed the evening and I would recommend you to give it a try.

The Angel Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Sunday, with special events and private bookings on Monday and Tuesdays. A menu that changes daily with a reasonable selection. It has a friendly atmosphere and really excellent staff. A selection of starters is offered, some quite interesting. However for me the presentation, especially of the main course, lacks the finesse of fine dining. Plates are of fixed choice, vegetables are set in advance, only one or two on a plate. The is no separate choice. The sauces and gravies, while having excellent taste, let the plate down. With the copious servings spoiling both the overall presentation and taste. The dishes come in swimming pool sized servings which tend to spoil the potatoes in particular. Much better for us to be served separately on the side. A modest but tasty selection of desserts. There is a small but reasonably priced wine list. In some cases only the wine name is given on the list and the wine type is omitted. There are two main types of chairs, the wood back ones are a little tight across the rear and are a little high for the tables; go for the tall leather back chairs, they are just right I like to support local small busineses but not just to our taste.

Third visit to The Angel, this time for Sunday lunch. What I like about this restaurant is that the menu is constantly evolving and everything is cooked to perfection. I had the fishcake starter and the very generously portioned roast beef dinner, I think it’s a sign of a great chef if you can take something ordinary and make it spectacular, as was the case with my meal. On previous visits I’ve had the fish main courses which have always been excellent. Who would have thought we could have Ritz hotel quality food in Swad for such a reasonable price? I was happy to see that the restaurant was very busy but service time was unaffected, I hope this continues because Swad has been missing something of this quality for years now.

The Angel has had new owners with in the past few years and they have certainatly gone to town with making the Angel more of a Restaurant and dropping the label of a "rough pub" that it was known for previously. The inside has been fully renovated and the decor and atmosphere is very pleasant, light jazz music is played around the area which isn't too loud, which really adds a bit of style and atmosphere. There are restrictions to pets here so no pets are allowed (except guide dogs). Parking is to the rear however if the carpark is full there is parking roadside at the front. The menu is rather limited, however don't let this put you off as the food on offer is quite varied, offering vegetarian dishes for those who prefer. We had the beef brisket and cajun chicken starter and the food was excellent, very tasty and well presented. The only critisism I'd have was I feel that the food would of been better a little hotter as its served warm but not hot. Starter: 9/10 (just because I would of prefered it hotter myself, even though its more of a salad type dish). The main I went for was Sausage with mash and onion Gravy, arrived piping hot and tasted really good, the sausage was juicy and the onion gravy had lots of flavour and the mash was fluffy and light. Main: 10/10 (I wanted to find something I could critisize but honestly, nothing came to mind and I was struggling). The owners/staff were very polite and helpful and you really got the feeling they appreciate their customers. Only feedback I can give for improvements (and you could say its being extremely picky) is that it was a bit cold when we dined, even though we were near to a radiator. It was not warm enough to take off our coats but also it wasn't freezing, just not quite warm enough to lose the jacket. Overall a great experience and I look forward to coming back. Well worth a visit if you want something a bit fancier than other pubs in the area.

We going are on the reviews & say so of other people, o ly living within a mile we thought we would give it a go . Under no circumstances were we disappointed. Excellent greeting @ entering the door on which we were unsure whether to use the front or rear entrance. Shown to our table with menus . Decor was very good & menus were extensive a good chose .we all had three courses of which we excellently presented & the taste was outstanding. Prices were a little pricey but for the quality & presentation weren't bad . The only gripe we had was the lack of attention some of the waitresses were giving as we had to ask for drinks a couple of times & the bill a couple of times . But on the hole excellent & no qualms in going back again or recommending to others

I visited the Angel in a group of 4 first and had such a fabulous meal that I booked it for a get together with 8 friends a couple of weeks later. The chef was extremely helpful in catering for a lady with certain allergies and the food was just amazing! It was the Christmas menu but with plenty of other options apart from turkey. Will definitely be back.

Such a wonderful place. The cakes and pastries are absolutely top notch. Also, usually find it difficult to get decent coffee in this country, but the coffee in Teles Patisserie is so good, really rich and flavoursome. Realky friendly people too. I'd fully recommend a visit.

A Roasting Good Time This little pub is a hidden gem. Their roast dinner is the stuff of legends. The meat is cooked to perfection, the veggies are spot on, and the Yorkshire pudding is fluffy and golden. The gravy? Divine. If you're a fan of a good roast, this is the place to be.

My first time back for 6 years when Carorline still used to serve the "Naughty breakfast" in their old premises across the road. Now replaced by 3 others which includes the "Large breakfast "which is a feast. Consistent quality over three visits in a fortnight & a lovely warm welcome every time. Worth a trip all the way from Africa.

Super beautiful friendly people... The food was well worth the money compared to all the other takeaways in the area...
