Service was friendly and welcoming. Food was really good. An excellent meal in wonderful surroundings. Really happy with the vegan options.

Went for a Christmas meal, was pretty disappointed to be honest. Food was ok, but the service was far too slow. Food came out over an hour later than booked, we had ordered sides of pigs in blankets that never appeared, drinks took ages to be brought over. I know Christmas is a busy time, but this was unacceptable.

Busy on Christmas day - but they managed very well, great staff and great food, had the beef wellington and chocolate desert - recommended.

Impressive Christmas Dinner. Service perfect. 3 really tasty and well presented courses and no obligatory service charged added on to the bill. In fact, 2 large red wines, 1 diet coke and 2 coffees came to £29.15 which I thought was reasonable. Will definitely return next year.

Beautiful atmosphere, Nichola served our table her energy was positive, joyful and lifted up the Christmas spirit for our Xmas Eve meal. Such kind, helpful staff. The food on top of this amazing as always when we come here. Cozy pub, warm, inviting.

Unfortunately no lessons have been learnt in the 3 years we have avoided this place in relation to how they address customers and how they deal with allergy orders. Avoid unless you want them to try and force you to sign illegal disclaimers that try and protect themselves ( big news this doesn’t stand up in court and Food Gov says to report restaurants that try and shirk responsibility with these). I only wanted Chips. Your staff were quite patronising and kept staring over and talking about us after they left. We will never return for food again and you lost three full meal orders that night plus mine. Not good in a 3/4 empty pub restaurant 3 days before Christmas! Perhaps that’s telling enough without my review.

Had a great birthday meal here with the family. Nicola was very attentive despite being extremely busy. Food was excellent and reasonably priced.

I have been coming here for many years however a recent meal with friends means I probably won’t return . The atmosphere is lovely , it’s a very cosy and pretty pub but our meal was not good at all . Drinks took ages to arrive , my starter portion of pate was insultingly small and the rest of our groups food was just a bit flat . Extremely good chips though . Very, very slow service meant that by the time we came to order pudding the kitchen was shut , so no pudding . Our waiter was charming and helpful but run off his feet in a busy week before Christmas, so couldn’t cope at all with the huge job of dealing with a full restaurant alone . Loos could also do with a bit of attention , hand drier not working and they could have done with a bit of a clean . There was also a very strange continuous back ground noise ( air con, old fridge ?? ) the whole time which was a bit unnerving .

Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and our waitress Nicola was brilliant Been coming here for years and the food historically was hit and miss but whoever has taken over has done a great job with the new food/menu. Also love the way it’s decorated at Christmas and so cosy.

First time I have visited the Angel Pub for a meal with friends prior to a coach trip to London. The waiter seemed polite and friendly to begin with. Food was tasty and enjoyable. I didn't like the waiter's comments after we asked for the bill, he replied "hope you're not going to do a runner"??!! He then produced our bill for just over £100 for 3 of us and made some homophobic comments about being able to spot a gay man and adding to me " No offence intended"? I ignored the remark and then he proceeded to ask "was his tip coming out of the Money for bill?!!" I handed him £3 and he didnt say a word. I wont' be repeating the experience at your venue as sadly it was spolit by the waiters comments. He was a older gentleman and I thought he would have more tact and manners but I was wrong whether joking or not!! The date of our meal was Friday 1st November at 2pm.

Lasagne was more like soup. Too many mushrooms in the starters and also getting served with our mains whilst still eating our starters. Gents toilet had broken lock and disabled toilet had to be opened by a knife. Also check condiments levels.

Came here for a graduation celebration meal and everything was amazing, service was quick and efficient, food came quickly and was delicious. Would defiantly recommend The Angel for a nice meal with family 😁😁😁

Loved it! Great food, fantastic service Pie fantastic, pizzas are huge and the salads are soooooo filling Always recommend.

Came in for a bit to eat and a drink with my beloved family and dog, was greeted by the Megan who was very accommodating we sat in the bar area next to the warm fireplace. Aaron on the bar was very friendly and helpful. Had a great selection of wines and beers. And not to add the food was amazing! 3 for £12 was a bargain! We will definitely be returning .

Pie Saturday lunchtime 9/11/24 Over priced over cooked very very disappointing After a long journey to visit my father in Broomfield Hospital, I was in need of a wholesome meal, pie of the day was chosen, with mash and vegetables. The pie was over cooked meat large cuts, unable to cut (saw) very chewy, plate was cold vegetables cold, not approached once to ash how meal was. Meal and a pint £23 no starter or sweet Wish I hadn’t bothered Definitely definitely won’t be back

This place is good for a family meal, drink with friends or for a causal meet-up I came here for a meal and was served by Aaron on the bar the place had a cosy atmosphere and the staff were fun and friendly I had the signature burger which was amazing and my friend had the gammon which they said was excellent 10/10 will definitely be back in the near future

A duck pizza, was very nice, but needed a little more sauce as was a little dry. The sea bass was very nice but not very hot. Would return, but it was a tad cold in the place when I visited. Plenty of parking.

Very friendly, great service, lovely food. My friend and I visited for lunch mid week, so can't really say if it would be as good at peak times, but we couldn't fault it. Very happy with everything.

Had a lovely vegetarian meal with my sister. The staff were wonderful especially Zac who was so very helpful and smiling throughout. The food was the best we have ever had at this restaurant and the atmosphere is all you could wish for.

Lovely pub , my food prawn cocktail and signature burger was very nice , burger not tough however the steaks which on the centurion menu are an extra £6 were fatty and tough my friend having to cut away most of her steak as she couldn’t eat it I would love to return just not on a Monday as it’s a staff training day and food service took a long time . Staff need more training on vouchers as had a bit of confusion but I think this comes from vintage inns them selves not necessarily the managers or staff , but they should know what voucher work with what menu

We visited the Angel for lunch to celebrate my mum’s birthday. My partner had really good memories of the food though last went there years ago. It is safe to say that unfortunately it has gone downhill. The building is very tired on the outside and Inside could also definitely do with some TLC. We were three adults and one child and ordered three pies of the day but there was only one left. We weren’t allowed to swap the veg that came with the pie to a side salad so ordered an extra side salad, a sea bass and the lamb dish. The food took over half an hour to come out, we felt like we were waiting for ages. The seabass was extremely bland, it had no flavour whatsoever. The pie was also flavourless. The only dish that anyone enjoyed somewhat was the lamb. The side salad never arrived and when i mentioned it on leaving, I was politely offered a refund for the salad alone but was not asked once how my meal was, hence I didn’t complain as it’s not in my nature. The child’s meal of tomato pasta had more flavour than the seabass dish. At £85, I thought it was expensive and the food was rubbish. Will not be returning

I live near the Angel, it is a wonderful pub with great food. The atmosphere is very happy and fun. A special shout out to the manager, she is very friendly and nothing is too much.

I have never posted a bad review before but felt i had to this time. I have been for a meal before where i had been so disappointed. We have not visited the Angel for several years and we will NOT be returning. The food was awful, the building was very tired and dated, paint peeling. It felt dirty We had Sunday roast 3 x adults and 3 children. It was extremely disappointing. The meat (turkey & beef) was fatty and chewy. All the vegetables were hard and mostly inedible, especially the potatoes and cauliflower cheese. The Yorkshire pudding and gravy was nice. The staff were very nice, friendly, helpful and organised.

10/10. Lovely pub, lovely staff and amazing food! Food came so quickly and was delicious. Can’t wait to come back :)

Sarah is absolutely fantastic, what a credit! We had a Sunday roast, lamb was a little on the dry side but the trio was fab. Lovely little pub with nice nooks for some privacy while dining. If in the area again we’ll definitely be returning in the hopes of seeing Sarah again.

Just revisited the Angel for dinner and just as always it was amazing. Can’t fault this place it really just keeps going up and up!

Went here for Sunday lunch, total waste of money and won’t return. Beef was like rubber, potatoes vegetables and Yorkshire pudding cold, parsnips like mush and cottages cheese which was not only cold but in my opinion was just cauliflower with a bit of dressing over it, not cottage cheese at all. Gents toilets disgusting to the point you need to hold your breath, although the floor tiles are cleaner than the wall tiles, taps loose when turning on, generally although I know it’s a very old building it wouldn’t be a bad idea to spend some money on it and make it a bit more appealing and maybe add some staff that actually want to work there and serve you. Manners cost nothing.

After a day that wasn't great my friend and I went to the angel for a meal. To say it was good is an understatement, my friend is a coeliac and our server Zac asked for assistance which came from yaz they both explained the restrictions and limitations on the menu. Our meals arrived both were superb and filling and the extra special dessert made by Yaz was the perfect finish to a great meal. I whole heartedly recommend coming here.

This is my new local, I come with my mum and grandad, and we always feel welcome and comfortable in the angel. The staff are very kind and helpful, especially Megan the general manager. She recognises us every time and chats to us. The atmosphere is very warm and pretty. We have got the 3 for £10 plates a few times and are always spoilt for choice. The food is lovely and portion sizes are great value for money. Lovely pub xx
