Wife and I popped in to grab some dinner with our dog. Nice food, friendly staff. Had the fires going which was a nice touch

This place is good for a family meal, drink with friends or for a causal meet-up I came here for a meal and was served by Aaron on the bar the place had a cosy atmosphere and the staff were fun and friendly I had the signature burger which was amazing and my friend had the gammon which they said was excellent 10/10 will definitely be back in the near future

A duck pizza, was very nice, but needed a little more sauce as was a little dry. The sea bass was very nice but not very hot. Would return, but it was a tad cold in the place when I visited. Plenty of parking.

Very friendly, great service, lovely food. My friend and I visited for lunch mid week, so can't really say if it would be as good at peak times, but we couldn't fault it. Very happy with everything.

Had a lovely vegetarian meal with my sister. The staff were wonderful especially Zac who was so very helpful and smiling throughout. The food was the best we have ever had at this restaurant and the atmosphere is all you could wish for.

Lovely pub , my food prawn cocktail and signature burger was very nice , burger not tough however the steaks which on the centurion menu are an extra £6 were fatty and tough my friend having to cut away most of her steak as she couldn’t eat it I would love to return just not on a Monday as it’s a staff training day and food service took a long time . Staff need more training on vouchers as had a bit of confusion but I think this comes from vintage inns them selves not necessarily the managers or staff , but they should know what voucher work with what menu

We visited the Angel for lunch to celebrate my mum’s birthday. My partner had really good memories of the food though last went there years ago. It is safe to say that unfortunately it has gone downhill. The building is very tired on the outside and Inside could also definitely do with some TLC. We were three adults and one child and ordered three pies of the day but there was only one left. We weren’t allowed to swap the veg that came with the pie to a side salad so ordered an extra side salad, a sea bass and the lamb dish. The food took over half an hour to come out, we felt like we were waiting for ages. The seabass was extremely bland, it had no flavour whatsoever. The pie was also flavourless. The only dish that anyone enjoyed somewhat was the lamb. The side salad never arrived and when i mentioned it on leaving, I was politely offered a refund for the salad alone but was not asked once how my meal was, hence I didn’t complain as it’s not in my nature. The child’s meal of tomato pasta had more flavour than the seabass dish. At £85, I thought it was expensive and the food was rubbish. Will not be returning

Visited Friday where it was busy, but that was no trouble to the team. Food came out fast even with a full restaurant! Lunchtimes at the Angel is a monthly must for me and my friends when we have our Friday catch ups!

what can I say. This place continues to improve even when everything already is perfect! Came Friday lunch and the team were friendly and the food came out fast and was hot and delicious. Nothing was too much for them and is always my go to place for food when in Broomfield or Chelmsford.

I live near the Angel, it is a wonderful pub with great food. The atmosphere is very happy and fun. A special shout out to the manager, she is very friendly and nothing is too much.

Had a lovely lunch, the fish finger sandwich was absolutely delicious. Mathew who served us wasVery welcoming and easy to talk to. The atmosphere is lay’d back and you are not rushed.

visited Sunday and the food and service was spot on…as always. Beef nicely cooked. Turkey was moist. Potato’s were to die for. No complaints from us and the service was fantastic and attentive.

I have never posted a bad review before but felt i had to this time. I have been for a meal before where i had been so disappointed. We have not visited the Angel for several years and we will NOT be returning. The food was awful, the building was very tired and dated, paint peeling. It felt dirty We had Sunday roast 3 x adults and 3 children. It was extremely disappointing. The meat (turkey & beef) was fatty and chewy. All the vegetables were hard and mostly inedible, especially the potatoes and cauliflower cheese. The Yorkshire pudding and gravy was nice. The staff were very nice, friendly, helpful and organised.

Sarah is absolutely fantastic, what a credit! We had a Sunday roast, lamb was a little on the dry side but the trio was fab. Lovely little pub with nice nooks for some privacy while dining. If in the area again we’ll definitely be returning in the hopes of seeing Sarah again.

The food is excellent, the environment is relaxing and the staff are welcoming and really helpful.

Just revisited the Angel for dinner and just as always it was amazing. Can’t fault this place it really just keeps going up and up!

Went here for Sunday lunch, total waste of money and won’t return. Beef was like rubber, potatoes vegetables and Yorkshire pudding cold, parsnips like mush and cottages cheese which was not only cold but in my opinion was just cauliflower with a bit of dressing over it, not cottage cheese at all. Gents toilets disgusting to the point you need to hold your breath, although the floor tiles are cleaner than the wall tiles, taps loose when turning on, generally although I know it’s a very old building it wouldn’t be a bad idea to spend some money on it and make it a bit more appealing and maybe add some staff that actually want to work there and serve you. Manners cost nothing.

After a day that wasn't great my friend and I went to the angel for a meal. To say it was good is an understatement, my friend is a coeliac and our server Zac asked for assistance which came from yaz they both explained the restrictions and limitations on the menu. Our meals arrived both were superb and filling and the extra special dessert made by Yaz was the perfect finish to a great meal. I whole heartedly recommend coming here.

This is my new local, I come with my mum and grandad, and we always feel welcome and comfortable in the angel. The staff are very kind and helpful, especially Megan the general manager. She recognises us every time and chats to us. The atmosphere is very warm and pretty. We have got the 3 for £10 plates a few times and are always spoilt for choice. The food is lovely and portion sizes are great value for money. Lovely pub xx

Meghan and Steve were both brilliant on the night; polite, charming and couldn't have been more helpful, constantly checking we were ok and if there was anything we needed. I was also in touch with Meghan in the run up to the meal and nothing was too much trouble for her. Steve is fabulous and an absolute character, everyone loved him. They are both great assets to The Angel and Vintage Inns. All the food was very tasty and it came out piping hot, which is no mean feat when there is19 of you. n We had no complaints and all our guests said how much they enjoyed it. I booked this off the back of my 50th birthday meal which we held there and was also amazing, so I'm delighted it wasn't a one off. We will be back for sure.

Poor service - waitress left our food without cutlery or condiments despite passing the cutlery station on the way to serving us. No forks were then available when we walked back across the large garden to collect. Very cool dinners to eat once this was sorted. Not the best way to gain repeat business. In response to your reply I can assure you we were not informed we needed to pick up cutlery when ordering at the bar otherwise of course we would have done so. Your waitress very firmly advised us to collect our own when delivering our food. Her attitude was not friendly and therefore it was not really an option to request further assistance from her.

Such a good lunch, I was welcomed by Sarah, not treated like a leper as a solo diner I asked to reserve the root veg wellington, which was delicious Steve was my host, nothing too much trouble Sarah told she’s worked hard to make the Angel a welcoming and excellent venue. It doesn’t feel like a chain, the staff really make a difference I will be a regular customer now

We had a wake here and honestly couldn't fault it, the prices good, the food was great and plenty of it and the guy who served the food (think he was the chef and maybe even the manager/owner) was really kind. The place got very very busy as the day wore on so clearly lots of others share a good opinion too. The garden was nice and the pub itself spacious. Would definitely recommend

I am new to the area and it is the first time I have been to the angel, from when we entered we where treated amazingly by the staff Nick and Sarah and both where really happy to help will be returning for sure in the future.

The food was really nice but the service was terrible took too long to be given my food. The service does need to be improved.

We went to The Angel in Broomfield. What a change to how it was the last time we went there, a few years ago. We were welcomed by the barman. (It seems the staff are all different, as well as the furniture layout.

I visited the Angel with my Mum for a roast on 7th July 2024. We had lamb and beef and both were delicious. The portion is rather large and I didn't think I would manage it all but it was so nice, somehow I squeezed it in along with dessert! The pub had a lovely atmosphere, was clean and welcoming. Steve, our waiter was friendly, helpful and had a lovely sense of humour! We will be back! Thank you.

Was very disappointed with the chicken and bacon and salad , avocado was Slushy was not the best dish at all

Popped in here after a upsetting/frustrating hospital appointment. Pleased to say the lunch deal didn't disappoint and we left extremely full & much happier than when we went in! Staff were attentive, prompt & knew what was suitable for vegans (their hot chocolate mix has milk in it which they made me aware of when I ordered that - instead I had a chai latte with oat milk, yum. Also confirmed the triple cooked chips were ok as cooked separately). Arancini was delicious, as was the curry - and mini crumble with vegan custard. Also appreciated that my request of pineapple juice with no ice cubes was listened to (so many places don't & I end up trying to fish the cubes out/with a watery drink grrrr!!) The pub has a welcoming feel (including to dogs :-) was nice and clean, music not too loud, comfy seats, and had interesting features.

We hadn't been to this pub in many years and fancied a different location to our regular haunts. We arrived to a mostly empty carpark on a Saturday evening and wondered if we had errored. From walking in we were greeted and taken to our table. What was apparent straight away was they they were operating with reduced number of staff on hand. It can be said that the service took a while. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as another restaurant I have visited in the area, but it was slow. However, the quality of the service was excellent and attentive. We didn't feel like we were forgotten at any point. The quality of the food when it did arrive was likewise excellent. We had the signature burger and the gammon steak, both were very nice. The only comment I would make here is that the mini pudding was almost as big as a normal pudding, that was likewise very nice. Cost wise, this is only slightly less than some of the more premium chain pubs. So, it was key that the quality of the food was good and the service was attentive. The pub itself feels a little run down in places and finding the restrooms is a little adventure!

We visits the Angel in Broomfield on Father's Day. It was surprisingly quiet but there was still a lovely atmosphere. Our server Sarah was attentive and professional. The food was also lovely, the starters on the set menu were a little limited. I was a little disappointed to over hear another server (not Sarah) talking about her breaks, well lack of, I hope this isn't true and Vintage in and the management are giving their hard working staff breaks!

Our server was friendly and very efficient. Food was really good.

Just returned from Dinner at the Angel. We had drinks , homemade pie &veg, and pizza. The Pizza was good as were the drinks, the meat pie sadly was more gristle than meat, 5 sizable pieces, we had what was edible and left the rest. I wanted to give feedback at the point of order at the bar, but nobody was manning it, we left without giving direct feedback so had to revert to this platform. The staff at drinks and food order were polite and friendly to finish on a positive. To follow, and thank you for your response, I have been criticised for heading to a public platform to give feedback, I did initially and promptly approached the point of order , thus giving you every opportunity to discuss my issue, you missed this as nobody was available, apparently to busy clearing drinks, changing barrels and running 2nd rate food. Let me tell you , your customers are in no way interested in how busy you are, what the customer wants is a product quality that has been paid for. It's interesting to hear that you turn this unfortunate episode in my fault entirely it seems. We won't return, and perhaps share our experience on other platforms. Again to finish on a positive your waitress was polite. Good day to you.
