Caffe Nero in Chelmsford

It's a shame this branch doesn't do the stamps anymore for a free drink every 9 stamps. For some reason they have stopped it completely, luckily they will still honour any vouchers you have saved so far from collecting the stamps in their other branches. Costa opposite still do free stamps to collect.

Didn’t like the coffee. Tastes so weird, first Cafe Nero I’ve went to where I don’t like the Coffee. Also service were more interested in chatting / gossip rather than serving customers (where the line was increasing incredibly!) I wouldn’t have minded, but I was not really wanting to wait especially with people behind me.

Went into cafe Nero from work at lunchtime. Was polite. Ordered a toastie, cake, coffee, and water and a take away coffee on the way out. I can't figure out what I did to offend them but they acted like I had a disease. The women looked visibly uncomfortable when giving me the food and drink. I just said thanks. She just turned away with a really abrupt unfriendly demeanour. Then on the way out I ordered a takeaway away coffee. I waited to pay but the guy that took payment the first time totally ignored me. Other customers came in after me and he immediately started serving and taking payment from them. It felt oddly deliberate Needless to say, I felt hurt and upset. If I am courteous, the only possible reason they have for treating me that way is because how I look. I feel like crying but big boys don't cry. This isn't the first time I've been treated unfairly and probably won't be the last, but noone knows this

Nice coffee at usual coffeeshop prices. Collect nine stamps on card for a free one. Fairly comfortable venue if a bit small. However the service is extremely slow with staff seemingly unable to cope with a queue of half a dozen people in a timely manner.

Had a lovely coffee date today - the upstairs ambience and aesthetic was so Parisian, I adored it. The wait times are obscene however I can understand because it's so much more popular than your average Costa/Starbucks. The prices are slightly cheaper and the quality of the cakes is miles better! The blueberry muffin - gorgeous. Almond croissant - 👏However, I did feel a bit cheated when I received my tiny "medium" iced flat white - I guess I will be sizing up to a large next time I go, because Cafe Nero will be a staple for in town coffee dates.

New choices of cakes, finally! Had the roulade which was nice, can't wait to sample the rest ie the chounut or was it croisnut je ne sais pas.

I love a Nero but this one lacked the charm and elegance most have, it starts with the very cramped table lay out and the awkward steps and door to get in, staff seem like they are always training someone new and people just want to get in and out, food seems a bit old as well

Just wanted to say that I thought we had excellent service in Café Nero, Chelmsford this morning. Even at a busy time, the coffee was made to perfection, in good time and served at the perfect temperature. Compared to other high st coffee chains they just seem to get it right here. Hats off to the Baristas

I was disappointed that they didn't have cream and it was Saturday 9am. For a shop that sells drinks, this is quite bad and Ive been charged the same price

Old fashion seating area, £15 2 coffees 1 croissant. Slowest service of all times I've ever been anywhere. Staff were friendly but barely understood how slow they were. Not my favourite at all

Popped in today for a coffee & pastry using the Meerkat discount code. This was the first time I had used it & so asked the server which pastries were included, she waved vaguely at a couple of shelves & so I chose a muffin. It wasn't until after I had paid that I realised the muffin wasn't included. If she had taken the time to listen to me in the first place I would have chosen differently.

Ok cafe but im english and every time i visit i discover a language barrier. Maybe the have a company policy of not employing english people :-(

A lovely café, almost hidden right at the top of town opposite a pub. Lovely service, ordered and waited for our drinks at the counter downstairs. There is an upstairs seating area. Very cosy space and lovely area to catch up with friends over a coffee. The hot chocolate is delicious and rich. Can also recommend their mocha. My favourite coffee chain by far.

My wife and I are on a mission to find cozy coffee shops. This fills the criteria. The coffee and pastries are lovely(they are a chain after all), the staff are polite and get your oder correct after the first time of asking but the atmosphere and little view from the top floor seating are what makes this place cozy. Lovely decor and furniture. Take a seat upstairs at the window if you can. We shall be back around Xmas time when it's dark and very cold outside when I am sure it will fill even more cozy.

Efficient staff. Good please to enjoy warm and enjoy my cappuccino. It was difficult to find it because the brand name outsde is small, but with google maps, I finally managed to find it after going around the all block.

Called in today for lunch, lovely , friendly staff and great food. Had a warm(heated freshly ) brie and sun dried focachia. Lovely mug of decaf tea. Followed by really tasty carrot cake. This establishment is tucked away , and provides a very peaceful location for coffee or lunch as you wish. I had vouchers to use and the staff were very helpful in facilitating me using them. Thoroughly recommended !

Me gusta mucho, buenos sofás para descansar un rato de compras yen el centro. Tiene dos plantas y si el tiempo lo permite mesas fuera. Buen caffè para ser inglaterra 😁😁 Bocadillos, pasteles, pastas,.. Bonita decoración Personal agradable y atento. Esta claro que me gusta 👌 El servicio está subiendo las escaleras ya que es un edificio viejo. Si tienes problemas de mobilidad tenlo en cuenta.

Yesterday had a large hot chocolate with oat milk and my daughter a chai latte. Both great. Nero’s hot chocolate in my opinion is far superior to Costa or Starbucks. Not too sweet and not artificial cocoa. Staff friendly and a lovely building. Other reviews say it could do with refurbishing and yes maybe it could but it’s got some charm and cozy and seats comfortable. And we chatted to a lovely 84 yr old gentleman who is clearly a Nero fan and regular there.

Request for cappuccino without hot chocolate and little syrup came with a full sweet + hot chocolate one, great!

Cozy sitting to work and sip coffee

Used to be a good branch of Nero, however quality is now inconsistent, not sure if it's the roast type used or just the way the coffee is made now. Hit and miss, sorry. :(

Me and my partner unfortunately didn't like our oat milk cappuccino's when we visited the other week. It tasted burnt or something wrong with it. May have been a one off though, but unlikely to go back. Service was good.

Ordered a chai latte to take away. Queue distancing was not being monitored and seemingly only 2 staff in the building. Girl taking my order did not give much customer service, dumped it on the side without a word and went off to serve next customer. Got out took a sip and there did not appear to be any coffee in the cup, just milk and cinnamon flavoured foam. Most expensive and irritating experience.

Enjoyed a cappuccino in the corner under the glass pane ceiling. The ambient chit chat was not so loud that we could still enjoy our conversation over our rather pleasant coffee. The smell of freshly ground coffee beans wafting through the air filled me with joy until a rather drunk man sat down not so far away and all our joy disapated until all we could smell was the sweaty alcoholic stench seeping through his pores. He probably needed the coffee more than I. Nice tasting coffee. The large isn't really large. Cup sizes are deceiving. Mostly foam. Shame really.

I had a pain au chocolat and an espresso. The coffee was really nice and the pastry tasted like the real deal. I was going to buy a croissant but they didn't look as nice. My husband had an egg mayo sandwich, he was very pleased with it as the eggs were sliced, which meant it had more egg than mayo. The staff was friendly and efficient. I recommend this to place.

A typical coffee shop it can be a bit hit and miss sometimes it is very crowded there is minimal staff that can be very rushed off their feet and getting seating can be problematic

Cool place to have coffee. Going upstairs and looking down on the high street is pretty good for a view. Feels nicely detached from the human traffic below.

Don't sit at the round table for 2 near the end of the counter where there is a door frame; the drains or something stink. And the hot chocolate was luke-warm. If it had been hot I'd have added a star rating.
