Barista in Chelmsford

Stunning! Food was some of the best Greek food I have ever had and the portions and prices were all excellent. Go visit!!!

Ordered and paid via Just Eat as delivery. Waitress rang to say the foods we ordered were off the menu and someone had forgotten to amend the menu. I asked for similar dishes instead. She rang back a couple of times as delay in in chef's response. Finally, was told there could be no replacements. I tried many times to reach Just Eat unsuccessfully. After an hour Just Eat confirmed cancellation and promised a refund. Will never contact that restaurant again!!

🆘️🆘️🆘️guys, I'm Greek, I've been twice, once I ordered a souvlaki, it's traditional Greek and it wasn't a souvlaki, they had put other things, they don't know how to cook, and another time I went a second time and I ordered meat with rice and I vomited at the same time, I threw up and went to the hospital they poisoned me! 🆘️🆘️🆘️🆘️🆘️🆘️🆘️

We had dinner at the Barista restaurant with my friends, a place I went to for the first time. The friendly chef Hilmi served us very delicious meals. There was a pleasant atmosphere. Everything was very nice. A clean and authentic restaurant. I will always go to the Batista restaurant , because the atmosphere is very nice. I recommend it to everyone.

The restaurant is in the center and very easy to reach. It's the right choice to meet your friends and try delicious appetizers. The employees are friendly and sincere. We had the opportunity to meet the chef and we really loved him and his food. I tried meatballs as a main course, and I recommend it to you too.🫠

Everything was good but we thought that the cold mixed meze with the mixed grill would be the same as in the menu, the tztatiki was great but unfortunately we were looking forward to hummus and didn’t get it (I almost had it ordered separately until I read that the grill comes with the “cold mix”. The lamb was a but dry but the ribs were awesome. Overall good experience.

1st we ordered drinks and one guest remained without it, then we ordered food and we waited too much when it came it was one plate short. Disappointed with service Definitely will NOT go there anymore

The restaurant is under new ownership and they are experimenting with menus. Enjoyed drinks and an amazingly good meal.Starters of prawns and calamari followed by lamb chops. Jay the manager and Hillme the chef take great care of their patrons ensuring a wonderful dining experience.

Service was 10/10 food tasted incredible, cocktails were delicious.Will definitely be visiting again, best greek cuisine I have tasted!!!

We hired out the side bar and dancefloor for our works Christmas party. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The whole hire cost and final bar bill was also very reasonable. Special mention to Maddie who was our dedicated bartender for the evening, she was a great laugh and made sure everyone was well topped up. Would not hesitate to come back again. Thank you Barista!!

We went for a work party and hired the whole place out. The food was nice. Burgers were a massive hit. It is a small place and the dancefloor is the bar area so if you like to dance and drink it works well but if you want to talk and drink you have to kinda fight the dancefloor to get a drink or stay at the bar. There were nice places to sit away from the bar but god knows why we didn't use them. The staff were really friendly and bubbly. Probably why we all spent so much even after the company tab. Overall not a bad place.

A brilliant place to hang out with a mature crowd. Enjoyed the 90's night of music. Place has beautiful decor and very modern toilets.

Great cosy venue with various rooms for enjoyment! And a carpeted dance floor for us oldies if we fall over busting some moves!

Quiet, for a Friday. Chilled out drinks. Club music as background noise. Small outdoor seating section for lockdown. Reasonably priced drinks. Will be back again!!!

This is a place that is one step ahead. A warm outside area during corona virus restrictions. Staff that are lovely, friendly, genuine people with a smiling, extremely efficient service . Who could ask for more!!!

Excellent service, during restrictions, puts some other local places to shame. Covered outside areas with good free heaters.

Having paid £75 for 2 people for all night drinks NYE, I thought it would be worth the money!! How wrong I was!!! The fact that there were only about 3 "bar staff" behind the bar, and they could bearly crack a smile between them all night was a tad disappointing!! I waited nearly half an hour to get served, and there faces all night were enough to dampen anyone's mood! I have worked in clubs on nye myself and know how hard it is, but WOW, these kids should not work in hospitality as they were so miserable, they were being paid to sulk all night clearly!! Sorry but I guarantee I am not the only person to have this opinion! Very disappointed,

Venue great for that age group , could do with a power clean, staff nice but not very fast. Too Many congregated outside for smoking - a pity spoiled the atmosphere. DJ old but quite capable x

Great music each first Saturday of the month reasonably priced drinks. Lovely atmosphere more mature group of people which means you feel safe.

A really well done bar. Credit to the new owners I understand only just took over. Interior is good quality, comfortable and clean. Good prices for Chelmsford, great selection of drinks, outside seating area front and back! The toilets are good quality, very clean, and the staff member serving was very welcoming. All in all a fantastic atmosphere!

Foods ok but staff need to be taught manners, table service and how to interact with customers. When you go to the bar the guy serving treated it as an inconvenience.

Great place to go for over 30's drinks and dance, they also have a seating area to rest and chat. Drinks prices good too and fairly quick on service.

Soul night , great music , great crowd

We held my husbands 40th birthday at Barista last night, in the sectioned off areas. The person I spoke to via email to book was more than helpful and on the night they were always on hand to help. The separate area was great for us, an area for chatting and gathering upstairs and for dancing downstairs. Perfect for a party. Location is right near the station and also 2 car parks. A great venue for a small party.

Refurbished and looking smart. Good service and good selection of drinks. Very convenient location for theatre,train station, bus station and town centre

They've put a lot of effort into their sound-system and their lighting but the presentation comes across like a club in SOHO. I don't understand what they're aiming for. The most annoying thing is often they have the same beverages which gets very boring and the DJ's play hard house which is extremely annoying and also repetitive. They have a lovely bar and a great venue but just miss the mark. If they invested in descent DJ's and got more interesting drinks in then I would visit more. Staff are nice and bouncers are especially friendly. I don't want to walk into a bar and hear the same house music in the space of 30 minutes with the same tracks.

Went here with my wife for a few drinks and wanted something a little more of a night life atmosphere. They have an average selection of drinks but was way over priced. The 3 people behind bar just looked very bored and if anything irritated when I ordered myself and my wife a drink - especially the girl who kept giving my wife dirty looks. Stayed for that drink as the inside is cool but won’t be visiting again - shame about the prices and the staff.

I have been coming here for years and always found it okay, no kids but more mature punters. On Friday I visited with friends and we sat down in a corner and it was dark so we turned the lamp on behind us. Within a minute a member of staff just walked over and didn't even speak to us and turned the lamp off!! We all looked confused as it wasn't busy and wasn't effecting anyone else, so we turned it back on. Within seconds back came this guy and this time he removed the light bulb and still didn't say a word. Whilst outside I spoke to another member of staff and asked who the manager was...Can you imagine my shock when Mr light bulb man was the manager. We then moved to a lighter part of the bar and this Manager then went and put the bulb back in the lamp and turned it on. I found his behaviour very odd and provoking. I would hate to see how he would handle a drunk person. I have only given it 2 stars as all the other staff are lovely and friendly. May need to find another venue which is a shame.

Staff are absolutely amazing. Encourage Vfest Survivors to come in. Came and helped us get our wristbands off. £5 breakfast menu from 9-3. The toilets are luxurious and playing some banging tunes. Definitely be here again.

My friend and I went to Barista at 21:00 mid-week and were a bit disappointed. Ok, it's aimed at middle aged punters (so we didn't feel ancient!) but otherwise nothing special.

NYE all drinks included package, what a brilliant night, I thought there would be a little buffett but it was a lovely lot of food good quality and lots of choice nice mix of people variety of ages all good fun, bar staff were excellent we never had to wait to get a drink. Went here for a business event and was impressed with the design and layout of the main room. Plenty of space and a large bar with friendly and efficient staff. There is a smaller area upstairs and downstairs that makes it a bit quirky and offers a good additional feature area. Outside areas both front and back are reasonably big and heated. Close to train line and bus station. Easy to find and would return here for business and pleasure.

Have been coming here for a number of years, often for a quick pint or three while waiting for the bus home after work. The bar is spacious and whilst it looks like a wine bar it has something to offer everyone and feels pretty chilled and unpretentious. The offer includes three gravity dispensed real ales. The barrels for these are upstairs immediately above the bar and the beer simply drops down through pipes to a dispensing tap which is positioned ingeniously half way between the bar and ceiling. I love the fact that there is also a clear glass bulb which lets you see the colour of the ales on offer. Nowhere else in Chelmsford has this system to my knowledge.Dan, the manager, and his staff are super friendly and efficient. Dan takes care of the real ales and I'm glad to say that under his stewardship the selection and quality is much improved. It shows that he is a real ale drinker too and takes his beer seriously. There may be only three taps but you'll often find beers on here that you won't find elsewhere in Chelmsford.Food is served lunchtimes only (unless you're having a party).

We popped in here during the day and as such the place was relatively quiet and we had a nice little seat where we could catch up on some news. Prices are okay to a little of the high side The service was very good The place was very clean.

I have to be fair with this review. I didn't order food and used the bar for a late night drink on a Saturday night. Barista reminds me of a Spanish nightclub. It's full of little places that you can hide away in, if you want to. The music's good, and there's a moderate selection of beers. Unfortunately when we got there, after 12, it wasn't busy and the clientele was mainly made up of 35+ year old power drinkers either mauling their partners on chairs or standing off at each other like it was a bar in a Western. At least when it did kick off, the antagonists took it outside, which I thought was very considerate.Having walked past the place during busier times, I'd say that if you want a TOWIE experience then this is the place to go to; for the good and the bad side of Essex.

I Have been here a few time for a drink after work and the place is always busy. One lunch time we decided to try the food out, the service was very slow and from the most grumpy bar staff ever!!!! I ordered sausage and mash and my friend ordered a burger after waiting 20 mins (and the place was empty) mine arrived and we had to wait another 5 mins for my friends meal. however they were the smallest sausages i have ever seen in my life!!! The problem was they were rock hard, it was hard trying to cut into them. They had obviously been pre cooked and microwaved to turn them into leather! Considering the time is took to get the food surely you can cook sausages fresh! So didn't eat much and no one asked how the food was, no one took our plates away and to be honest no one was around they must of known how terrible t was and stayed out back. UNFORTUNATELY WE ALREADY PAID OTHERWISE I WOULD OF HAPPILY JUST WALKED OUT!!!! PLEASE TAKE MY ADVISE GO FOR A DRINK BUT NEVER NEVER EAT IN HERE!!!!!!

Service is slow, food orders are slow and always wrong...horrible watery ketchup! Don't bother for anything more than a drink..also decor is tired and tatty.

Couldn't fault the quality of the beer or the service from the staff but this place is not my cup of tea. More of a wine bar feel to this establishment with the decor and music to match. Popular for some yet again not so popular for others. 6/10

I recently visited Barista for a friends leaving drinks and I was annoyed that I had never discovered this place before. It has a really great atmosphere, plays a good mix of slightly older styles of music and is not so loud you can't have a conversation with someone. There were only two negatives for me, all bar one of the staff that I got my drinks from were really miserable which didn't leave a good impression and I ordered the same drinks all night, however one girl charged me 50p more for my mixer which was confusing? Apart from that though, it was a really lovely place to be!

My brother and I stopped here for a much needed moment of reflection on a weekday afternoon before heading home on the train and this was the perfect place!There was a serene atmosphere and the staff were very attentive and polite but didn't at any point rush us, thank you for your understanding at a difficult time!The nachos were great and the meze platter of dips with pitta bread and the fresh coffee was very morish! I can imagine it's quite a busy trendy bar in the evening and their drink selection was very impressive!

I stopped off here with my Mum & future Mother-In-Law before heading to try on wedding dresses. It was quiet, the decor is fabulous, very comfortable, with the option of sitting outside in the sun. There is plenty of seating outside both out the front of the building & out the back. The toilets were clean & the staff were incredibly friendly & sweet. The food was brilliant & very good value for money: for three sandwich meals & drinks, the total was just over £16. Will definitely be back
