Had a lovely experience at "the anchor" Saturday 2nd November at lunch time. Matthew was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back

If you are looking for somewhere to eat, skip this pub. Very below par food. Portion size is not great and the food quality is very poor. Seems to be a complete lack of care in the kitchen.

Went to the Anchor today with friends,food such good value and I thought I served generous portions but seems the chef there does too! Service there was superb, give it a try you wont regret it

We were a family group of 4, we all had different meals and we found that all the meals were very filling well worth the money we paid for them, the waiter and staff were very polite and the meals were quickly bought up,so not long to wait for them! Thank you for an enjoyable lunch.

Four of us had very enjoyable lunch. Couldn't fault it. 2nd time here will be back again. We had 2 portions of mini ribs, duck, & fish & chips, be back again soon.

My hubby and I had a surberb lunch today 2 course for £12.50 . We was amazed at the portion sizes we received and how nice the food was . Service was excellent to. 👌

I popped in to make arrangements for a gathering in August. Staff were friendly and and very helpful.

Ate here for the 1st time and was very Impressed. Food was very good and our waitress Grace was delightful in every way. Will definitely be back.

A great surprise to find such great food and service in a "Pub" in Benfleet. More like fine dining in a city centre but with much friendlier service and prices. Innovative menu and food presentation, prepared beautifully. Food allergies well catered for. We will return as often as possible.

The Anchor is a regular lunchtime treat once a month and has been for some time. The service and food are always excellent and the staff are very attentive, but not obtrusive. The set menus are great value for money. I have visited a couple of times in the evening and the same comments apply. I would highly recommend.

Went for a drink before train home. Ended up great Saturday night out. Nice drink great bar staff good band entertainment. So glad we visited .

The Mini Roundabout out side the pub is the 1st in the World, it was installed on May 1st 1970

Horrendous service form a local pub that is quite clearly struggling at the moment due to the competition and their improvements. Even still we thought we'd stick with them. Upon entry I gave my number plate into the system at the bar. I then return to the car park to meet my wife and young daughter for a quick stop in the shop opposite before we'd entry to order our food and drink. It was then we was chased down by the manger shouting and swearing at us about using his car park. Total unacceptable behaviour considering young children were present. Another customer lost, I'll spend my money else where from now on.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast, massive portions. Lemon cheesecake was fantastic! Service and staff were attentive, friendly and very helpful.

I feel I need to re-write my review of this place. Went there with my wife for a bite and a couple of drinks. The place was fairly busy, but the service was swift, and the food was fantastic. I had the prawn and chorizo gumbo (which was very generous with the prawn), and my wife had ribs (which she enjoyed). If you eat in the restaurant, there is table serving. Shared starter (baked Camembert), mains, desserts, and a couple of drinks came to £67.

Very friendly staff, good beer, usually good music, quick service and near the train station - what more can you want?

Attended a party in their hall. The staff and everything were top class. Parking was easy as well.

Visited for Mother’s Day Sunday lunch. We had a fabulous meal and the staff work so hard and cannot do enough. Will be back for sure.

This was my first visit to The Anchor & I was very impressed what a lovely pub it is. The staff were so nice & welcoming & the food was really good. There’s a great choice on the menu & very good prices too. A lovely pub all round!

Had my first meal here today Roast, it was absolutely lovely and the beef unlike so many places cooked to perfection, exactly sliced and just enough .. the staff were so friendly and the lady (think her name was Sue) spent time looking to fit us in as we walked in on a very busy day .. thank you so much 🙏

Thank you to the Anchor management and staff, I hired out the function building `The Moorings` for my husband's funeral wake and it was perfect. The buffet food was delicious and the bar staff friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.

Went with about a dozen friends for our Christmas lunch get together. We were seated and then the menus were given out to each of us. No sign of any Christmas fare on it whatsoever, frankly I felt like standing up and leaving. We asked if they had a Christmas menu and lo and behold they brought one out, 3 courses at £33.99 about twice the price of the items on the other menu. I am diabetic and 3 courses would have put my glucose very much over the limit. Thus I only had the main course, not very special, there was gristle on the turkey and the 2 roast potatoes had obviously been warmed up again, but had to pay for 3 courses. I did not wish to cause a fuss amongst my colleagues, but certainly will not be back soon. Very expensive for what I had. Suggest that anybody booking a group lunch do their homework first.

We visited recently and ate in one of the outdoor pods, it was nice and warm which made for a really cosy, intimate experience. The food was excellent. We were served by Charlie who was incredibly friendly, knowledgable about the food and made sure we had an excellent evening - thank you!

They do food but I wasn't there for that. Usual beers but not a great selection of alcohol free beer . Great atmosphere friendly pub

Friendly staff and nice Christmas meal with friends. Getting drinks at the table was a bit tough because it was so busy but we would've spent a lot more if we could have so worth putting one more on in the dining room 😊

The staff organised a wake for a friend and it was so good, great food and a great self contained bar and room, all super.

Love it, proper pub with friendly patrons and a lively, yet calm atmosphere. One of my favourite pubs abouts. The karaoke on Wednesdays at 20:30 hours is the one. I think the karaoke could start earlier, say 19:30 because this ginger gets sleepy too soon 😂😂

Wednesday karaoke is brilliant and has lots of followers that make for a really good mix and atmosphere. The food is great with good size portions too.

Friendly staff, prompt service, family friendly, dog friendly not the Mrs she s friendly when she's eatin and the food was excellent. Quite essentially a must return to venue . . Maybe alone if I'm allowed the ales went down a treat and made her more tolerable. . Jokin aside the Mrs loved it maybe it s me .

Lovely evening spent in the company of The Anchor Band. Great music, singing and general joy. I would have liked to eat there but the restaurant was closed, not sure if it was because of the Band playing.

What a little gem this is, not our first visit but first for lunch, we picked the lunch time menu, 3 courses for £12.50 expecting smaller portions but were we surprised, starter Mozzarella sticks and soup of the day, both excellent, main course great choice we went for shepherds pie, well never have we had such a large portion, nicely balanced between meat and vegetable, absolutely tasteful, finally dessert, rhubarb and apple crumble, asked for smaller portion because we were so full, will definitely be coming again, well done The Anchor and especially our waiter Matthew

Literally called and booked straight away for Sunday lunch. Food was really good and worth the money. They have a new electronic booking system which is causing a few teathing issues but that's expected when it's new.

My first visit to this pub and surely one to precede many more to come. Lovely food at decent prices £40 for two of us and we each had three courses! Portions are suitably sized and served by very friendly staff. The chicken soup was in itself worth the visit - a must try to kick off any lunch or dinner at this pub.

Fantastic service from lovely, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Sunday roast was good and plenty of food. Only fault was my potatoes were too hard. Recommend cauliflower cheese and stuffing as sides.

The Staff are FANTASTIC and do their best when they are so understaffed! Sadly the (what appears to be) landlord/ manager sits on his backside barking orders and not help when they are so understaffed (hence the 3 Stars) He also lacks the ability to talk to customers in a respectful manner to the point of being RUDE! Every time we have eaten there, the food has been lovely and the team whom work very hard to supply the best service possible are BRILLIANT.

We had my husband's wake in Anchor Inns function room yesterday. We were so pleased with everything. The buffet was really lovely and great selection far too much they wrapped the extras for us all to take home. The bar staff were absolutely lovely. Very polite and helpful and kept on top of serving everyone drinks whenever needed. I would certainly recommend this place for any function at any time. It made a difficult day much more bearable seeing everyone enjoying themselves and knowing everything was taken care of so I didn't have to worry at all. Thank you so much to caterers and bar staff. The recent update to their food offering is really decent. Recommend Sunday lunch, but it's also OK just for a drink.

Visited yesterday for the first time and decided to try the set lunch menu, which, at £12.50, was amazingly good value! The cottage pie was superb and packed with flavour and the service was also excellent! We will definitely visit again!

Enjoyed lunch here the other day. Decent sized portions, very reasonable pricing, great home made soup and pies. Good value 3 course meal at £12.50! Would have given 5 but service was a bit haphazard, several drinks not on draught, and quite a stilted, quiet atmosphere. Would visit again for the food as far superior offering to the two neighbouring pubs

Went to Sunday lunch couple with two dogs. Water provided for dogs immediately. Timothy Taylor Landlord was exceptional. Two Sunday Roasts - so much meat the dogs had dinner too. Great service and a friendly atmosphere.

We're holding my husband's wake here. The staff could have not been more helpful and made our decisions easier. Update: the wake went very well. The weather was glorious so we made full use of the outside area. Everything was ready for us on our arrival. The 2 members of staff behind the bar worked their socks off so no-one was left waiting very long. As for the food - just wow!! Although I know what I ordered, I didn't expect to see such a vast and varied amount of dishes. The only sad thing was that we had over ordered so there was quite a lot of wastage. Many thanks to all involved in making a sad day more cheery.

I really wanted to like this place, but couldn't. Yes, the building is lovely and the garden is very nice. The beer is good and the food looked appetising, but... my experience was marred by unsurly staff. It looked like am effort to be dragged away from his phone. When I finished my pint (which was good), I gave my farewells and got glared at. No. Sorry. Not going back and would not recommend here. Plus sides...parking, good beer, reasonable price. Downside...well I've said it really. Customer service matters.
