Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Menu. Friendly welcome and good service. We had the Christmas Menu which is 3 courses for £21.95 had to be ordered in advance but that was not a problem. Good choice and food cooked well and also good quality. Especially enjoyed the brandy sauce on the Christmas pudding. Will definitely eat here again.

Was welcomed with a warm heart and smile given the feel that was only felt in a homely environment. The food was just as good as mother cooked and the atmosphere was of one that made me feel great joy and happiness

I don’t normally leave negative reviews but it was unusually bad! The chips were completely soaked in oil and inedible & gammon steak was tiny. Prawn cocktail came out without any sauce. Roast dinner was just frozen potatoes, boiled tasteless veg and what tasted like microwaved beef. All the food took a long while to come out. We did worry when we were the only table in for a Sunday roast!

Booked in advance as requested, we shared a lovely meal. Nicely prepared and presented complete with Christmas Crackers. Accompanied by one of the nicest real ales in the area, called unsuprisingly Anchor Ale. Not the first time we have eaten here and we never leave dissatisfied. We shall be back in a couple of weeks for another meal. Thank you to the Chef and staff who make a visit to this pub very enjoyable

We were camping around the corner, and popped in on the Friday and Saturday night. The young lady behind the bar was dead friendly and the pub has a great, local pub vibe to it. The pub is lovely and clean, spacious and with a good selection of drink and well priced food. I wont go into all of it, but on two nights the landlord put my backup with his total lack of people skills, tact and manners. I hope that the locals find his attitude charming and endearing but next time we're up in the area I hope to find another pub to give my money to.

Called in one lunch time. We were the only customers. Ordered drinks and the only words spoken by the barman were do you want a glass. Not much of a welcome. Ordered food and it came quite quickly. Unfortunately I don’t think the chef let the deep fryer get to temperature before putting the chips in. It was like they had been simmering gently in the oil as they were just a soggy greasy mess. The scampi was the same . Ate a couple then gave up and just ate the peas. The chef came out to see a delivery person and asked if it was ok as I had left it by then. His reaction when I explained it was soggy and greasy were to say “there’s always one”. He shouted over to the barman to take it off the bill. Very abrupt and no apology.

After receiving a flier and heard good reports we decided to visit on steak night . Wow , one of the best sirloins we’ve had . When the landlord / chef speaks to you about his food you know it’s going to be good and it was . This is a very local inn and we found it very well welcoming particularly Jay Dine . We will be back .

Breakfast served once a month, so booked a table. No choices offered, like white or brown toast, how eggs to be cooked etc. but we were asked if there was an anything we did not want. This was difficult given the fact there was no list of ingredients. Opted for everything to see what arrived. However, when we asked for sauces we were told no brown sauce or ketchup available, but there was salt and pepper if we wanted! I hope this was a temporary supply issue. Tea was served by the cup with unlimited refills, but service was slow, so only managed a couple during our visit. Will visit again to see if the standard we experienced was a one off because the pub is lovely and the staff very friendly.

Beautiful pub. Spotless inside and out - very well maintained - hidden gem of a beer garden at the back with a little aviary. Son loves just watching the birds. Dog friendly & make your dogs feel very welcome. They pour a good Guinness at a decent price. Good choice of spirits. Staff always very helpful and quick service - when the bar is busy you are acknowledged and they get to you as quickly as they can rather than being left to stand their and ignored. Food looks & smells good although I haven’t had a meal yet. Very friendly inside and welcoming inside

After receiving a flyer we thought we’d give it a try for a Sunday roast . We thought a bottle of red wine would be a change from our normal tipple . This was bought to our reserved table and left on the table unopened. After I opened the bottle we tasted it and it was vinegary and not nice at all but there was no available staff to get their attention. We thought we’d grin and bear it eat our meal and go . I ordered pork which was just passable and my wife ordered beef . The beef was extremely tough and dry hard to cut and inedible. When a young member of staff came past our table we discreetly told him about the wine and beef and he said he’d inform someone and went off to the kitchen. The chef ? Landlord perhaps came out and was not happy about our feedback. To cut a long story short his attitude and response was completely unprofessional insisting that the wine was ok as it was sealed and we had opened it ??? We paid for one meal and was told we had to pay for the wine. Rather than argue at the bar we paid and left . An awful experience and will certainly not be going back .

So, we decided on lunch at the Anchor at Wimblington, as food was advertised outside. We went to the bar and waited, and waited, and waited. A pleasant waitress said "sorry I cant serve you"...another, less pleasant, indicated she would be with us soon, but then proceeded to chat to other customers and then serve people who had come in after us. We left after ten minutes and went elsewhere. This seems to be a Marston's pub, they really need to get a grip on what is an appalling lack of service. Difficult to rate food or value as we didnt get any.

First visit to this pub, asked for a coke and a glass of prosseco. The wine glass was dirty and the small bottle was not opened and placed loudly on the bar. When we politely asked for another glass, the member of staff smirked and rolled her eyes. Glass was again banged onto the bar. The pub looked dirty and the bar was sticky. Very poor pub and very poor service. Don’t bother going, there are much better pubs in the local area.

On visiting close friends they informed us they had booked a table at this pub, I am the person who requires Gluten Free and was accommodated fantastically. I was able to get Gluten Free Beer and several items on the menu too. Kevin the landlord and the waitress Chloe? were very friendly and did a great job of looking after us. I liked having a juke box and we all chose some songs we wanted to hear. I was thrilled to see a piano and would have relished the opportunity to play. I only wish it was busier for them.

We booked a large table here for our Christmas work meal, well it didn't get off to a good start as we were told a price of a bottle of champagne on the telephone when booking that it was £30 then to be told it was £43 instead, with no budging on the misquoted price, so was disappointed.

We booked our Sunday lunch here today 4 Adults and 1 child nice friendly welcome and service. The place was really busy mainly families so a nice atmosphere. We took our seats at our table with our drinks to study the extensive menu. We had set our hearts on the lamb shank, roast pork and the roast beef but then our first disappointment we were then told that there was only the roast beef on so roast beef it had to be it would have been better not to give out a menu that they couldn't supply.

Went for a family meal here last night really disappointed the steak was over priced and then the chips was fat and frothy in side the stir fry was not good no mention it being spicy the short rib we had better home made at Christmas the prices was shocking for the quality of food would not recommend the restaurant but would recommend the butchers won’t be going back in a hurry.

Every week I visit this place and it never fails to amaze me! Service is spot on! Always polite and helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we leave happy. The food is Top tier, never had a bad meal & the meat is such good quality and value for money. Just ordered a birthday cake as well this week and it’s one of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted! Value for money and ordering the cake was so simple and efficient! Brother in arms, food and service is also above and beyond! Already booked again for my next visit! Later in the month!
