The pub where Pink Floyd were formed and still brilliant in every way.

Self-service from the bar. We ordered bread to be delivered to our table but I had to go to the bar and ask, and that is where I found it. The bread was warm and tasted great. Super expensive. You pay for the location and view. A draft beer and a draft cidar was ~£16.80 ($22). View and location are premium!! Hillarious to watch the tourists try punting at the rental place across the river.

This pub is really amazing, we had food and stayed all evening sitting on the terrace watching all the punts. The food was exceptionally great and the service made it even better.

We visited to have a small bite before moving on elsewhere, so we only ordered sides. I ordered the wedge salad thinking it would be a mixture of salad and a bit of veg with some dressing and crispy onions. I kid you not, it was an iceberg lettuce sliced in half with a tiny bit of ranch sauce on the top. And it cost £8.10. Absolutely insane that you would have to pay that for just half a lettuce.

Great little pub/restaurant. Very busy and you can see why. Staff were brilliant and friendly.

Very beautiful historic pub! The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Beers were very tasty, well preserved and a good variety of choices. The fish pie they had on the day as a special was delightful. Highly recommend this place and will be back soon for a visit!

We visited The Anchor Pub on Silver Street weekday lunchtime, drawn by its picturesque riverside location along the River Cam. The setting is undeniably charming, with views of the Mathematical Bridge and punters gliding by, but the experience fell short of expectations. The pub was packed, which is understandable given its popularity, but the crowd made it feel chaotic. Tables were cluttered with empty glasses and plates, and it took ages to find a clean spot to sit. The staff seemed overwhelmed and inattentive—after waiting 15 minutes to be noticed we left and went to the Millworks.

Really lovely pub in a gorgeous location overlooking the punting stations. We had a takeaway drink for our punting trip then back to the pub for another and dinner. Lovely friendly staff, great drinks options and delicious food - some lovely vegan options for my friend as well. A lovely evening enjoying the river!

Great location with a lovely view over the river, had a nice meal with my family as well as some lovely desserts, definitely recommend.

I got a beer and the steak sandwich with chips. It took over 35 min to get the food, and was difficult to get any employees attention. The bartender was nice enough. The steak in the sandwich was roughly 1/4 undercooked chewy fat that needed to be removed. Everything lacked seasoning.

What an amazing greek night we had last night at the Anchor. Great live music with experienced musicians and an amazing Greek singer. Great atmosphere with very friendly staff. Would totally recommend. Can't wait for the next greek night!!

Exceptional pub, great service and staff

This place is starting to be a bit of a regular haunt for me now...... Amazing fun staff always happy to help and recommend food and drinks. Lovely yummy food ( did over indulge on the wings ). Theres always something going on too , footy ,rugby and even a quiz night which we lost at 😥. All in all I would recommend Thanks guys and keep up the great work .

Ate today a dry aged burger, which is usually done on medium rare because dry age has less moisture and let me tell you, it was not even well done it was congratulations, would not recommend

We had an excellent meal at the anchor. You must book in advance as it is very busy. We had a lovely table by the window. Service was outstanding, friendly and fun. “ I am the wine list!’ Was mentioned by our lovely bubbly waitress. I had the sea bass and requested the triple cooked chips. Both were delicious. My dining partners had burgers and both were very impressed. (I think chunky chips were better than skinny chips. ) The blood orange gin was super refreshing and the sticky toffee pudding, (recommended by our excellent server from Killinchy, NI), was outstanding. Great food, exceptional service and a bit of Pink Floyd history thrown in too!! We will be back!

We came in on the off chance and we was not disappointed. The staff are so friendly and cant do enough for you and the atmosphere is all was great and we are so excited to hear they are starting a weekly QUIZ every Wednesday night from 7pm best start thinking of a team name. Only planned on stopping in for a drink but we decided to stay for a bite to eat and what a good idea that was, I had the pie of the day which was Rabbit pot pie and was full of flavour and I tried there New section IPA From Wolfpack brewery it was really good and a big thank you to all the staff but a shout out to Emma for the recommendation on the food and drinks you are a star. Thanks again and we will see you soon for the Quiz.

Extremely friendly staff that would go above and beyond for us all! Great value for drinks! Highly recommend this place. And if you're a rock fan, then I highly recommend you to have a look at the Pink Floyd Legacy and pictures all around the building!

Absolutely love this place! My friends and I come here all the time and always receive the best service in Cambridge! Elvis is such a joker and gives great recommendations on beers (neck oil is amazing) the sticky toffee pudding is the best I’ve ever had! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Those where the years, I spent my 1987 summer at this bar. It didn’t change a bit. Very nostalgic pub for me❤️

We have dined here several times and always service with a smile and the place never disappoints with the food. On this particular occasion Freya was able to recommended a selection of small dishes for my friend who was vegetarian. I had the fish and chips and both dishes were delicious. Freya is always polite and attentive and we'll continue to return here when we're next in Cambridge as our 'go to' place.

Porchetta Pub Another weekend. Time for me to continue the Cambridge pub marathon. Found that this pub had lamb Sunday roast like rival pub (the Mill) nearby. Similar price to the Mill too. But the difference is, Anchor has porchetta Sunday Roast too. The food arrived without much waiting. Surprisingly similar prices, but the portions were smaller than the Mill. The lamb and pork was quite dry. There was not enough gravy to dip the meat. The Yorkshire puddings and potatoes were not crispy enough. At least the leaf vegetables were cooked correctly. But still, this pub manages to offer something different than the rest, more than beef or chicken Sunday roast. But it is a pub in the quiet side of Cambridge. With a beautiful punting view. The environment was clean and pleasant to stay. The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. Trying to recommend items in case the customers have no idea what to order.

We had a Christmas do here. The service was great. The food was absolutely fantastic. And it's a great pub in the heart of the city.

Very cosy atmosphere here and the framed pictures on the wall add a lovely homely touch. I've only been here in the evening but have heard good things about the views of the river during the day

Elvis and the team did a fantastic job going above and beyond to host our event back in August. They really made it an amazing day.

We had our Christmas meal there. It was wonderful, the staff were polite, professional and swift. All of us had a great time.

Omg I attended The Anchor with my work colleagues for our staff Christmas meal on Friday 6th December. Elvis and the other staff were so accommodating to the needs of myself and my colleagues. The food was out of this world and was presented well. It is a shame that the venison and sticky banana pudding are not on the normal menu. I personally want to thank Elvis for his patience with me when it came to my colleagues needs and enquiries. He was friendly, approachable and seemed like he was always up for a laugh. Id absolutely come here again.

We had a great time here after we came back from our punting tour. You have to order at the bar and everyone is very friendly. The later we stayed, the louder it got. We eventually left because we couldn't hear each other without yelling. I'm not talking about music, it was just crowded.

We came yesterday with a group of around 12, we were greeted with swift service - drinks ready for us on the table and we had little cards with our orders to avoid confusion. The starters were really nice and it came out like I say all very swiftly. It was very well organised so hats off to the staff that managed to bring all the food and things out together with multiple different big groups. The only issue I had was myself and my friend both had the plates cleared completely from the table I was still eating my starter, which made me feel rushed and my friend was half way through her meal - the rest of the group had finished but she was made to also feel rushed the entire table was being cleared without any acknowledgement one member of the table was still indeed eating. Just something to be mindful of in the future, but all round it was nice food. So thanks for accommodating us!!

I ate today with my family and we were a group of 10. The food was very good but the best was the service: the boy and the girl who served us were super friendly and helpful, exceptional.

Amazing location for the perfect window seat to watch the sun set. Didn't have any food to comment on.

Fond memories of this riverside pub from 30 years ago. Sadly on a late afternoon in November the atmosphere was flat, the place was not particularly clean, empties left on the tables, and taps not working in the toilets. Staff were fairly indifferent. Signs pinned to walls complaining about 'non-customer' use of facilities, and blaming them for maintenance issues do not lend an inviting air to the place. External area would be nice in summer

The food is absolutely amazing and to die for, drinks are amazing and the service is incredible. Staff are making sure to give you the best every time no matter how many drinks you go up for 🤣. Very pleasant atmosphere. Truly recommend and will be going again.

Vinimos a tomar unas copas con amigos y el personal era increíble como de costumbre! (Un habitual aquí). Guiando con fantásticas opciones de bebidas y tenían algunas recomendaciones increíbles sobre aperitivos para llevar con ellos. Es impresionante que tienen cerraduras de inodoro, ya que parece haber mejorado el estado de ellos, ya que en el pasado definitivamente había problemas. Excelente trabajo de la dirección en hacer las cosas como tales!

Lunch on a Friday at 1:30 p.m. Two starters, one fish and chips, three drinks. Just under 60 pounds, British prices... Waiting time was okay, quality too.

Best damn fish and chips in Cambridge. And the staff are second to none. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a lovely dining experience.

We very much enjoyed a steak sandwich, chicken club sandwich, fish finger ciabatta, wings, fries and thick cut chips. Friendly service. Good selection of beers. Nice outlook over the River Cam. Dog friendly.

Gem of a spot! Right on the river watching the boats go by! Great wine and snacks were delicious!

Roast Beef at £21 was at least a third gristled fat, with hardly any "trimmings" e.g. one tiny tinned carrot. How much would it cost to add some vegetables? Several times different waiting staff went to grab our glasses before we had finished. Why? The toilets have a ridiculously long code on a dodgy lock which keeps out customers, as well as passers by. Very disappointed on our visit.

Atmospheric pub with good selection of ales and beers. Food is testy too. The place has 3 levels and outdoor terrace facing the Cam. Place is quite popular at night even on the working days. Ground floor is accessible by wheelchair. There is a toilet for people with disabilities.

Simple and reliable pub fayre. Range of beers but as a brewer I found the lager unexceptional. Suggest you stay with the cask-conditioned ales.

Clean and spacious but. Not the biggest selection of beers but you will find something suitable. Location makes this pub very much worth the visit. Prices are on the expensive side

The mood was very nice, nuce view on the river but the food was really mid. We got the fish fingers ciabbeta and the soup of the day wich was brocoli peas and mint. The servuce was nice.

Wow what a night!!! Was reccomend to stay and listen to the band.......and well was over come with such good music at such a beautiful venue . Yes a little tired....... But .... The staff are the real diamonds... Great recommendations.... Food and wow the insight about the drinks , they seem so passionate and love being there, HATS OFF TO THE STAFF . Treat the staff well and they shall guide you the way . Amazing place and hope to come back soon

Lovely staff and nice place for food and drink

Visited The Anchor after Punting for my daughters birthday. The food was good but we had to wait so long with no communication from the staff of how long it was going to be, but the shock was the service charge of £18 I do think was way too much for the service we received. I thought tipping was always at the discretion of the customer and paid at a level to which the service deserves, not just added on regardless of the service. We then used the toilets as we left and the ladies were filthy, not something you expect in an establishment like this.

Food is great, service was great too..it's in a great location on the river in the town centre. It was pretty quiet Saturday evening but all round a great experience.
