Clean and spacious but. Not the biggest selection of beers but you will find something suitable. Location makes this pub very much worth the visit. Prices are on the expensive side

The mood was very nice, nuce view on the river but the food was really mid. We got the fish fingers ciabbeta and the soup of the day wich was brocoli peas and mint. The servuce was nice.

Wow what a night!!! Was reccomend to stay and listen to the band.......and well was over come with such good music at such a beautiful venue . Yes a little tired....... But .... The staff are the real diamonds... Great recommendations.... Food and wow the insight about the drinks , they seem so passionate and love being there, HATS OFF TO THE STAFF . Treat the staff well and they shall guide you the way . Amazing place and hope to come back soon

Lovely staff and nice place for food and drink

Visited The Anchor after Punting for my daughters birthday. The food was good but we had to wait so long with no communication from the staff of how long it was going to be, but the shock was the service charge of £18 I do think was way too much for the service we received. I thought tipping was always at the discretion of the customer and paid at a level to which the service deserves, not just added on regardless of the service. We then used the toilets as we left and the ladies were filthy, not something you expect in an establishment like this.

Came here with friends, expensive food for what it is, nothing special. Nice view over the river that’s about it. I paid the bill for us & later that evening when we were sorting the payment (away from the pub) noticed there had been a 12.5% service charge of nearly £25 added on. In very small print it’s on the bottom of the menu they add service charge but not how much I wish I had queried this. I don’t think pubs should do this, it was not a restaurant & we did not receive service all evening, simply a main & a drink each so where is that money going.

Food is great, service was great too..it's in a great location on the river in the town centre. It was pretty quiet Saturday evening but all round a great experience.

Great service, Ian was friendly and made the visit worthwhile. So good to see he was there since my last visit. Will visit again next time I'm in Cambridge!

Managed to nab a table on terrace overlooking the Cam, and spent the next three very entertaining hours eating, drinking and watching people trying to punt their way up and down the river. The food was lovely and the staff exceptional. This is our go to pub in Cambridge each time we visit and cannot wait to be back a some point in near future.

A tight pub by the river. Not much good can be said about him. The food is tasty but nothing spectacular, the prices are moderately high, the service is unpleasant and the toilets are dirty and smelly. The advantage is the view outside the window. Overall, nothing special.

The Anchor has always been our favorite pub in Cambridge, with it's prime location by the river, cosy English pub vibes & fantastic food. So hosting our wedding reception here was an easy choice—and it was perfect! Elvis was fantastic from the start, helping us organize every detail and always on hand to answer any questions, he ensured our day was exactly as we imagined. The staff on the night were incredible—helpful, professional, and attentive, making our guests feel welcome and cared for. The food was fantastic, with guests raving about it all evening, especially the desserts! We're beyond grateful to Elvis and the team for making our special day unforgettable. Cannot recommend enough!!

What a super pub overlooking the Cam and watching the punts a'punting. But the real highlight were the fabulous staff. Warm friendly and always up for a joke and a jape. Food was just fabulous. We had the pan-fried Seabass as a healthier option to fish and chips. So glad we did!! Crispy exterior and freshest fresh meat. The clever bit was the pairing with chorizo, sliced potato, capers and spinach. Wow! To finish off we had the most excellent Sticky Toffee Pudding. Scrumptious. A wonderful, rewarding evening and excellent value to boot! Tim! Highly recommended.

Great view of the river! Staff have been very friendly and attentive despite the high volume of it being busy!! Food out quite fast and it was delicious, nothing better than a fresh cooked meal while watching people fall in the river from their punts! Highly recommend for all Pink Floyd fans! Prices are well reasonable to be in the best pub in Cambridge!

I always go to the Anchor. Its such a lovely pub overlooking the river and the punters. The team are always on the ball and super friendly. The food is great. Definitely reccomend.

Beautiful location, great atmosphere and a well festive place! The team has done a great job with this! I decided to visit and enjoyed 2 lovely meals with my partner! I had a fish and chips, and my girlfriend had the shepherd's pie. Both delicious meals and must say the beers that are in line... amazing. We'll preserve Neck oil!

The day manager was extremely helpful and took time to give our party the background regarding how three members of Pink Floyd met at his pub. Very much appreciated. The Scottish egg was very tasty and is highly recommended.

Great beer selection! Loved the Sticky toffee pudding Best deserts in Cambridge. Big turn around from my last visit. Place has much friendlier people. Shame about the toilets, definitely the company must invest there as non customers pillage them.

Booked a table for 6 of us for a Sunday lunch with family and we was not disappointed the food was so tasty, full of flavour and delicious, we could not fault the Service, staff are so friendly and helpful and cant do enough for you will definitely be recommending and will be back soon. So happy to see Lilleys and Jubel are back. The only thing I would say is a down side was witnessing how many people walk in and just use the toilets and leave them in such a mess, how hard is it to flush the toilet roll. Feel so sorry for the staff who have to clean up after them.

Came again to this amazing pub by the river . Great beer 🍺 Amazing service from the fun staff whom seem to go above and beyond for their customers. Really feel sorry for them that they used and abused by non customers using the bathrooms ! All they seem to do is clean clean and clean the bathrooms ! AMAZING PLACE GREAT BEER GOOD FOOD and a great place to chill in the sun watching the fun of the punting 😀

After visiting the pub 3 times this year, lovely place, good selection of drinks but VERY poor toilets for the ladies, Each time we have been, there has been NO toilet roll or hand soap for the ladies, each time we have had to tell the manager or bar staff about this to which they say that they such a heavy footfall of people using them who are not drinking in the pub, should you be allowing them in ? This is very un hygenic for all !! Is this part of your hygiene standards ?? A sign is on the doors but no one is monitoring this !!! Is this something you could look into to and be restocking regularly like service stations !!

We enjoyed The Anchor. We had a Non alcohol Metropolitan mixer, a toastie with ham and sourdough with grilled veggies. All tasted great. Sitting on the terrace at the waterfront it was a joy watching the punters. It's outside the main centre but worth visiting!

It was our favourite pub during our summer programme. Close to university colleges, cozy terrace by the river Cam. Good local beer and Guinness. Perfect place to have good discussions with friends and colleagues.

Fab bub by the river in the middle of Cambridge

Lovely place overlooking the river. Food was delicious..... Had to wait quite a while for dessert else it would be 5 stars all round.

Extremely friendly staff that would go above and beyond for us all! Very fast service (despite it being busy) and great view of the river! Great value for drinks! Highly recommend this place. And if you're a rock fan, then I highly recommend you to have a look at the Pink Floyd Legacy and pictures all around the building! Really decent dishes! Highly recommend to try the Chicke Kiev! My friend who had the Fish and chips said it was amazing and seemed quite big!

Useless, couldn’t sit eight for lunch in an empty restaurant… whole level empty on a Tuesday holiday time … that’s a few hundred lost to bad staffing.

The restaurant is well located on the bank of the Cam, so great if you have finished punting. The service was great with all the staff attending to our needs and very friendly and helpful. The food was really tasty, I had the sea bass, however I felt the chorizo piece in the dish were overdone. The peach melba was amazing and would recommend to anyone. The temperature in the top restaurant was rather hot, but was a very humid day, if the sash windows can be opened half and half it would really help. Overall the restaurant was great and we had a wonderful time and the food was of good quality.

One of the best terraces you could find in Cambridge. Emma, who served us, was superkind, she recommended us lots of fun thing to do. Totally recommend.

We visited Cambridge in mid-July and our dinner at The Anchor was a major highlight of our weekend! The service was fantastic - Freya was friendly and helpful, and ensured that we had the best experience possible. Despite the menu having quite a few attractive dishes, she helped us pick the perfect choices for our group. The food was amazing - we had a large group and selected different options to try a bit of everything and there wasn't a single dish that wasn't delicious. I got the salmon and would strongly recommend it. We were sat by the window, which was perfect for a sunny day, and could watch the punters attempt to go under the bridge without falling off - this was great entertainment. My one complaint is that the toilets are in very poor condition - the restaurant shares the toilets with a pub and when we went, they were flooded and extremely crowded. There is a sign saying people use it as a public toilet, but I do feel that this is no excuse for a restaurant to have an extremely dirty toilet and I hope they fix this for future customers. But the food and the service and the environment are all so amazing that they outweigh the toilet situation - just go to the toilet before you go to dinner!

The service and food was lovely. It is a little pricey but that's what you expect in a prime location. ***One thing I would note is the toilets are absolutely disgusting. The smell was appalling and I had to fight to get past the big round toilet roll holder that was hanging off the wall which was most uncomfortable. I would not have eaten here if I'd seen them first.***

Great service lovely place to stop for a drink by the river

A chilled out place, not too crowded, neat interior and friendly barman/ staff. A good variety of drinks and even an outside terrace next to the river. Ales were nice and coctails also a good mix. Just watch your head as there is a low ceiling before the lowest setaing area. Nice that TVs are there for the sports fans too.

Recommend to put a lock on the toilets they are filthy from public using them and the smell is lingering into the pub

Came in with my friends for a few drinks. Was recommended the Jubel peach. What a drink you can have by the river in the sun! Highly recommend. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had some barsnacks. They were really good so do try out the food!

Came In on the off chance for a Sunday lunch and we was not disappointed. Had the beetroot hummus which was so tasty, followed by a Roast Chicken and a Beef the food is so tasty and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We even found room for a dessert the sticky toffee pudding came very highly recommended by the barman. Finished of the meal with a nice coffee and a Bailey's on the side Look forward to next time we are this way.

It's a lovely pub by the river, but such a shame the toilet was absolutely disgusting. The foul condition of the toilet put us off from ordering food. They really need to address the hygiene in their toilet.

Unwanted, unfriendly and unimpressed. The man that served us, we wanted coffee, said ‘at lunchtime I’m going to Costa to get a pint of lager’. How rude.

I was with my family at the table 1, outside. Great view of the river and punting. We were blessed with sunshine which made a huge difference. Food was good, but the highlight for me was being there, where Syd Barret used to be listening to jazz after school.

What a disappointing experience! We visited The Anchor yesterday for lunch and after queuing at the bar, my order was eventually taken by a rude and surly member of staff with a very dimissive attitude. After I had placed the food order, I asked whether they had any lager beer such as Stella, only to be told that they did not sell lager at all (we later saw other customers with glasses of what looked remarkably like lager). I also asked for alcohol free beer, also to be told that they did not sell this either. The two bottles of (warm) sparling mineral water that I settled for, were ridiculously over priced. When our food was brought to the table (Roasted Vegetables on Sourdough toast), we were less than impressed by the size of the portions, specially given the price charged. The vegetables on the toast were extremely oily, and both my wife and myself suffered from indigestion for the rest of the day. It was definitely not a pleasant experience and we will not be returning. The pub itself seems very nice, in a great riverside location, so it is a pity that it is badly let down by some of its staff, as well as poor quality overpriced food.

Didn't eat so couldn't mark that, but this pub was very nice with a perfect riverside setting. If you like offsetting the hustle of punters wanting customers with birds floating around fishing then this is the place for you. Why there was one bar staff on on a busy sunny day I don't know, that's my only real problem with this pub. Bonus star for watching people attempting to punt and either losing poles or getting stranded up them, before slithering down into the Cam while people cheered from the side.

A place frequented by both tourists and students but also by locals, in the lower part there is a corner where they play live. The food is average for pubs, as is the beer and the cost, the dish of the day was special. As in all pubs I may return but first I evaluate alternatives

We had a lovely time here for lunch on a beautiful Monday. The beer and ciders were fresh and crisp, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere looking out onto the river was perfect for showing my friends what Cambridge is like. The food was the highlight; every element of my pan-fried sea bass fillet with spinach and chorizo worked together gloriously, and the pie of the day (beef) was delicious.

Very nice river bank with a view of the Cam. You can rent a boat just 10 meters away.

This is right next to the busiest punting area in Cambridge and I really thought the food would be just acceptable but was happily surprised when the food came out it was really good and much better than I thought it would be. You order at the bar and it was a very warm day so was busy so the good took a while but not too long. Staff and atmosphere was great.

Had a day of walking around Cambridge today with my friend who is visiting from the USA. We popped in to the Anchor as we were walking by and we had a fantastic hour. Grace behind the bar is both beautiful and an absolute pleasure to chat with, but I have to warn you that if she is drinking a protein shake, look away! If you have the chance, you won't go wrong with having a pint here!

I went there twice. Great beers 👍👍👍 The staff and their services were excellent. On a sunny day, an outdoor table along the river is ideal for relaxing. The reasonable price and quick service make it ideal for hanging out with friends.

Bad manager. I went in to use a coupon for a free beer, only to be fed the lie "our tills don't do that". Staff have been told to lie to anyone asking about offers or coupons because maybe it takes longer to claim the payment than a cash buyer. The manager should be sacked.
