Another personal favourite within easy walking of the train station (10 mins) and bus stops (15 mins). Usually 6+ ales to choose from, that are always kept perfectly, as well as a good choice of craft beers and lagers. Always a good buzzy atmosphere and the set up of the outside seating is done very well. No food served but deliveries can be organised from many of the eateries along Mill Rd - Scott's Pizza being fairly closely linked to, and advertised by, the pub. Very good pizza though!

(I live 5 doors away) Beer was good but lack of food was a real issue ….. plus the fact they had some trainee boy who really didn’t have an absolute clue what he was doing….. It was okay but thinking the Carlisle fans may well stop off at the Devonshire Arms from now on…… Oh and NONE of the FOOD in this survey is ACTUALLY AVAILABLE

My dad had this pub when I was about 8, nearly 30 years ago, then the greyhound (since demolished) he passed away a few years ago, came to Cambridge to visit my brother and wanted to pop in to see the place, it's changed so much as you would expect 🤣 but Its absolutely beautiful! The staff were so friendly, food was on point, it was lovely to see how much its improved over the years, I don't remember it having such a beautiful outdoor space, everyone was so friendly, brilliant atmosphere! Excellent service, and was so nice to tell my brother the memories of my dad in there! Highly recommended! Keep kingston arms going for another 30 years! Will be bringing my children back for food and more memories next time. Thank you for making it such a special experience without knowing my connection to the place!

Visited in June 2023. Having visited after its reopening under new management, it's great to see it as a proper pub again. The manager served me and he was incredibly friendly and efficient and happy to have a discussion about the beer. The garden is a nice, cosy area which on a nice summers' day is perfect for sitting in and enjoying a few pints while munching on crisps. I had the XXXB Bitter and it was clearly well kept. It was quiet while I was in there both times, but this is purely down to the times I was there (and this is ideal for me anyway). I personally enjoyed my visits here and will be looking to make this a regular. Located just off Mill Road and only a ten-or-so minute walk from the Beehive Centre, I'm sure I'll find plenty of excuses to work up a thirst for a visit here.

We were a group of 7 of family adults that went to try out the Kingston Arms after recommendation. Our booking was for 6pm. We were met by a friendly team and the place looked inviting however it soon became apparent and really for whole evening the place was disjointed from start to finish. The table was not laid ready, it was unclear about ordering drinks the menu however refreshingly different was wholly incomplete with no list of ingredient. The waiter did a great job in discribing what each dish was and what the ingredients were however it was virtually impossibile to remember everything for him or us. It didnt help that some of us had a menu from the day before and not knowing the ingredients made it tricky with two of our table with intolerances/allergies. A lot of the menu choices included bread however the restaurant did not have any gluten free bread options for these. With substitutes or options one of our party popped up to the top of the road to buy some gluten free bread for the meal. The food was different but average, the mullet was tasty and I had the lamb which was also tasty. However Our Five was

We had brunch at Kingston Arms earlier this summer and we were impressed with the dishes and the fresh produce - particularly the smoked salmon and asparagus. Service was a little slow but we didn't mind as we had a lovely table in the garden and were enjoying a leisurely brunch. That's what Sundays are for. We have returned for dinner several times and have enjoyed their menu - especially the lamb hummus and pitta. They have a fantastic wine list, the best wines I've ever tried have been from their list. There is always a surprise wine on the menu for a little over £4 per glass with a choice of red, white or rose.

Super wine list (albeit at about 3x shop price), good food and atmosphere. Service overall a bit slow and inattentive, as a result of big variation among stuff: some are wonderful (e.g. the somelier and front of house waiter), some never look towards the client to see what they need. Food also a bit variable in quality (do NOT take the oysters - they came in some leaking ice, nothing compared to how Fin Boys offer them to you, for example), but overall interesting menu, a great addition to Cambridge. All in all we will be back and wish them well!

I had read several recent reviews suggesting this pub hadn’t quite found their sea legs yet, so I rounded up a few friends and made a Friday night of it. Indeed there is a focus on wine rather than beer, but I was able to find several on tap that I really enjoyed. We sat out back on the patio, and it was a beautiful setting. I particularly like the touch where they have the day’s fresh vegetables sitting out in the open. It serves as a reminder that this establishment is, above all, about the food. And the food is outstanding. A Mediterranean focus with shareable plates. I’m not a foodie, and I won’t get into the details, but I will say I enjoyed everything I tried particularly the hummus w/ lamb. Anyhow, this place got beat up a little bit in recent reviews and I think those were quite harsh. For my money Kingston Arms is one of the best gastropubs in Cambridge.

Had a table booked but when we turned up we were told that the booking didn't exist. The staff seemed to suggest that we were trying it on to get a table when it was busy but they'd do us a favour and seat us anyway. Bad start. Food was OK but seriously lacked flavour... Lots of really interesting dishes but far too bland. for my liking. Also, a £70 steak on the menu? I know this bit of Cambridge is very gentrified now but that's just a joke. Would go back for a drink - the wine and beer was very good - but nothing else. Also, not a great selection for a bad as they didn't have lemonade or slimline tonic. What bar/restaurant doesn't do those? Just a bit weird.

This place has an identity crisis. The staff mate ineffective and the menu is confusing. It explains nothing about what the food is. (For example, what is “The Jackson Five”? Hey, Kingston Arms, stop being so pretentious. Also.. £7.50 for hummus without bread is a rip off!

What used to be a wonderful, busy, friendly pub is now an overpriced, confused venue that prices itself as if an elite venue, yet the service, decor and furnishings leave everything to be desired. The staff couldn’t care less. The menu is ridiculously cryptic. From the glowing revues here it seems that these attributes are sought after within the “foodie scene”. Personally I’d rather the joyous atmosphere of the old Kingston than whatever it now is any day.

What a ridiculous place! If you can decipher the menu for a start you are doing well. God knows what half the menu items are because seemingly they want you to guess at it. I apparently have very different expectations for pickles. Literally never been anywhere that doesn’t serve hummus with bread! When we asked asked why the bread was extra we were told some people just eat it with a spoon! Give me a break! Did not partake in the wine list but seeing £200+ bottles makes me wonder who they think they are catering for In a backstreet pub. I would be surprised if this place lasts as it is thoroughly confused and the staff, while seemingly like there are plenty, seem completely obvious and have no vision for checking around the garden. Shame, used to be a good pub.

We then raised the issue with the manager, and he apologised for the BARWOMAN, saying she had just started and that she had no experience. We were uncomfortable with the way the manager accepted the way the regulars would talk about women, yet the manager had no issue with this, saying it was a 'private conversation'. My female friend then raised the issue with the discussing this, and the manager and the men laughed in her face. We were then forced to leave, with the manager accusing us of causing trouble. I have to say I really like this pub, good beer, reasonable prices nice atmosphere. Myself and my husband also would frequently eat here for the same reasons, but unfortunately the food prices have increased and quality decreased. Great shame, will remain a drinking visitor, but now go elsewhere to eat.

Friendly staff but not the place to go if you want to sit comfortably and chat to friends. Food was really not good.

Siempre vamos a la Kingston cuando visite Cambridge. El lugar es genial con un montón de cervezas para elegir, un jardín precioso y la gente es genial.

Really nice pints of ale, food is cheapish pub grub but homemade at least. Beer garden is also cool. Good spot for a pint

A lovely pub slightly tucked away not far from the station. Always a good selection of well priced beers and I’ve never been disappointed with the menu. It’s also busy most nights which can only be a testament to its quality!

Back when this vaults was a really nice cocktail bar. Haven't been here in a while and boy it's taken a dive. The cocktails where great a bit pricey, the bar staff friendly, but the physical premises has seen better days. The men's toilet top 5 worst toilets I've ever been had the displeasure of using. 1 urinal full to the brim with piss and a dead fly floating in it, and given how quiet it was at the time, that wasn't from that evening. Cubicals locks broken and graffiti everywhere.

Usual Cafe Nero. This one is very busy as on Kings Parade. I was able to get a place to sit in the cafe. Would be great if there was a time limit on people staying there. Seemed to be full of students on their laptops and empty coffee caps. Also didn't know you had to get a number to use the loo.

Local pub through & through, plenty of room, nice atmosphere & friendly staff. Not so noisy you can't talk.

Fond memories of this riverside pub from 30 years ago. Sadly on a late afternoon in November the atmosphere was flat, the place was not particularly clean, empties left on the tables, and taps not working in the toilets. Staff were fairly indifferent. Signs pinned to walls complaining about 'non-customer' use of facilities, and blaming them for maintenance issues do not lend an inviting air to the place. External area would be nice in summer

Four of us visited at midday today and were greeted warmly by the young lady behind the bar. This good greeting plus a nice atmosphere when we were actually seated and settled made the visit very enjoyable. Many thanks Barbara.
