Nicer than it used to be. Not my vibe. One member of bar staff was visibly desperate to not be there on last visit. Service slower than you'd expect even for a busy time.

Had bottomless brunch for my friends birthday and Taylor was our main server. Taylor was lovely and very attentive to us. Izzy also brought us drinks too and was also very nice. Overall we were very taken care of and would go again

Great divide between football games, I was able to watch the game and hear the commentary for what I came to watch at the same time as another match! Super quick food and service. Will come back for the next match, Matt and caileigh were super helpful!

Would just like to thank Amber for her prompt and great service, excellent pint pouring and bubbly fun personality! The food is great here, the chefs know what they are doing. My personal go to is the Mighty Meat pizza or one of the burgers, they are truly terrific! The pub has all manners of sports to watch, from Premier League and Championship games to F1 and Golf. The Anchor is also equipped with 2 pool tables and a darts which is always fun to play over a pint of cold beer. The beer garden has booths and heaters for those colder evenings, accommodating to everyone's needs! Once again, thank you Amber!

Great place for drinks and pool

Very nice pub with nice pretzels

The table is sticky and seats are not clean. Me and my friends had waited the drinks for 1.5 hours. The staffs kept saying “wait for 5 mins”. I completely lost my patience. We asked for a refund because we have to go. Then, we asked again another half hour later. The staff called the manager to refund.

Enjoyed my visit to the anchor to watch the football, Flavius the bartender was exceptionally welcoming and catered for all my needs. He dealt with my friend who had learning difficulties incredibly and really went above and beyond. I shall be returning to this establishment again for sure, and best believe I do hope that Flavius is present for my visit.

Still a great place to watch the footy with lots of screens and a big projector screen. The staff were also helpful with offering to put the projector on so we could watch a specific game. But the place is starting to look very tired, the toilets are very unpleasant, and the food we had recently was quite poor. We had the nachos topped with beef, the topping was very meh.

Very busy with students on a Thursday because £5 for two pints on Thursdays. Good atmosphere but takes a long time to get a drink in the busier hours.

Visited the Anchor on a Monday evening for food. The manager was very helpful, the barstaff were lovely. I ordered the ranch chicken which arrived promptly, it was delicious and good value for money. I asked the manager to pass on my compliments to the chef, who then came out to thank me. The chef, Jamie, was very professional and lovely. Would definitely go back again and I can highly recommend this pub.

Dear Anchor management, sort your staff out. I have never seen such miserable slow zombies in my life. Not realising who is in the Queue start serving new customers that stumble in the block. The main point is that I have never seen a bar so unorganised with no leadership what’ so ever. Sort it out. It’s a Saturday I get that it’s busy but my god you could make life’s easier with a smile and some pace.

I got over charged and almost killed with some terrible hot sauce. The pizza was as hard as a dustbin lid. Staff didn’t have the knowledge…… I was lucky to escape

It was probably a bad day to visit as it was busy with football supporters, and it was mainly full of men. Football on everywhere. Limited menu due to the football,but the pizza was lovely, both mine, the pepperoni and my daughters cheese one. Chips were disappointing, going on the description on the menu. Bit tired of surroundings, but ok for a quick bite go eat

We pre booked a table here to watch the Lionesses in the World Cup final, we asked for a prime location seat and we certainly got one. Beer was good and atmosphere was great, Good value as well, Only downside was the cauliflower wings we had.. gosh they were horrendous and we didn’t really eat them. All the other food was great

Don't think I've ever had a decent pint in here. Good pub to watch live sport, but the beer isn't great for some reason.

The first time I came here was for the Women's England Football World Cup final. The atmosphere was good. I ordered a cordial with 2 orange juices and I remember it being expensive. Today I had a lemonade cordial which cost £4.10, very expensive in my opinion. The pub is based on Gloucester Road so the outside bit is quite noisy.

Nice place, but very quiet, few customers and no music or background TV, just had one drink and went home.

Just had a couple of Pints nice pub clean and tidy staff were friendly enough, only thing i don't like is the toilets are upstairs, but that's quite common nowadays.🏴‍☠️ UTG.

The anchor is a great place to go either solo or with friends. Welcoming and assertive staff. Great place for food , the chef I highly recommend especially for the breakfast option, never had any issues with the food and have been coming here for months, always tastes great with an empty plate! 10/10 highly recommended.

champions league nights are class

We went to the Anchor today a disco and it's a lively, lovely place. It's definitely a uni pub. Look forward to doing more entertaining here.

Pretty standard sort of pub really. Nothing to rave about, this pub chain doesn't live much to the imagination. Bar staff are friendly and its good to watch the sport but that's about it.

Did not have a pleasant experience here. Has a student feel with sticky floor and was full of drunk men barging into us. DJ came on far too early at 8pm playing music so loud we couldn’t even have a conversation. Also the toilets are up steep stairs with a foul smelling carpet. Much better pubs to go to on Gloucester Road.

The bartender was unexpectedly and unnecessarily rude to us. From the instant we got in he acted aggressively, and made it feel very uncomfortable. Never experienced a bartender be so rude.
