Went here today for the first time, staff polite and friendly and food was tasty left very full and satisfied

Came here this evening with my family, was served by Emma, she eas very friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was friendly and inviting. We had a lovely meal and was happy with the service from the girls who were waiting tables! Thankyou for a great meal, will defo return

Great value for money,Friendly staff. The only downside is that people were so noisy in the sports bar when others were trying to watch the rugby and it didn't help with the noise from people playing snooker during the game

A decent pub, with food food, drinks, and staff!

If you think a tracksuit is evening-wear and you want to score drugs, this is the place to be - it's conveniently located near to the Hagley Road, so you can drop off the car / moped / e-whatever you just stole and get wrecked afterwards.

Great spot for a succulent meal. Staff were really friendly, especially the lady with blonde hair behind the bar.

We had two steaks. One was very good but the other was terrible. It didn't even look like a sirloin. My wife was ill for two days afterwards. She thinks she may have had food poisoning. We have not been there for a long time. We will never go there again.

One of the best sizzling pubs in the region. Hands down. Friendly customer service and quite quick service. Extensive food menu something for everyone. Love the classic mixed grill, can’t go round. The Amber has good range of beers and beverages. Will definitely visit again

Came here for a meal with the family. All the food was amazing. Friendly pub and friendly bar staff that are always happy to help and very polite even though it was busy and they were rushed off their feet. Will definitely recommend to everyone I know.

Tables we booked wasn’t even together we had to sort it out ourself. Steak knife left on the floor near the fire exit which we had to move due to having a 1 year old with us. Food was bad quality for money, hardly anything on the plate. 1 short rib platter was missing onion rings. Steak was fatty and served on a dirty griddle. Kids meal came out last. Curry feast was stone cold with rock hard chips. The curry had a brown skin layer over the top as it seems was left under the hot plate. Chicken on skewers were stone cold & the salad was brown and wiltered, tried to cover with mango dressing to hide the fact the salad was brown. Complained to waitress who said she would inform chef and that was all. Called and spoke with supervisor Emma after wards and she was so rude and disrespectful. Her attitude was appalling!

Went out for a family meal here tonight safe to say it was awful service Waited over 45 mins for cold food and poor quality £17.99 for a rib platter that was no bigger than a kids meal and poorly cooked not to hot held requirement of 63 degrees that’s for sure , a steak dinner that was pure fat not how a rump should be. And my own personal meal the curry platter. Three cubes of chicken on a skewer that was cold , chips were rock hard and cold and the curry had a dark brown skin on it wonder how long it had been sat under the hot plate for definitely not to hot held standing requirements And not to forget the salad which was all brown and wilted and they covered it over with mango dressing to hide it but that failed to work didn’t it. We complained the waitress who said she’d inform the chef and her duty manager and nothing was done. Yet afterwards we called up to try and resolve the matter and all the manager said was why didn’t you say we explained the situation and she was still very rude and exclaimed that “ it couldn’t of been that bad cause you didn’t speak to me despite us explaining what had happened and not to forget they left a steak knife on the floor which we had to sort because we had our one year old son there imagine what would have happened if he picked that up I will be taking this further and please don’t waste your time in this dump not worth the hassle. They have now been reported the FSA ( Food Standards Agency) and they need customer service training never had such rude service in all my life. Very disappointed from a trained chef under Michelin star trainee at La Gavroch. I’ll make sure anyone I know will not visit here and hope they get crucified by FSA for this.

I've enjoyed coming here for years. From meeting up with friends to having a date night. The staff are always friendly and ready to serve you. The food has always been great. Parking available outside. Outdoor seating area for smoking. Looks pretty with the lights outside. Generally a clean and warm welcoming place.

The staff should be awarded for their excellent customer service. The only negative was the toilets were not as clean as they should be.

The place has just been refurbished, and it's lovely. I've been here twice now, and the staff have been warm and welcoming. The food was served piping hot, quickly, and of good quality. I thoroughly recommend a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Haven't been here in ages but was great, service great, friendly staff, there were 5 of us and no complaints about our food, I had a halloumi wrap it was lovely. Only niggle was the coffee machine wasnt working but hey ho !!

Beautifully pub, the food was lovely, good priced and decent sized portions plenty of choice I've had a evening meal and a breakfast meal nice atmosphere and lovely friendly,smiling well mannered, pleasent staff who are happy to help. Weekends have entertainment been to a few and always a good night with varied music for all ages. They have had some good singers and groups .

Esta vez la comida era muy buena me tomé un filete y mi esposa tenía una buena hamburguesa. Todo estaba caliente bien cocinado y presentado a un nivel muy alto. El personal del bar era muy educado y la camarera era muy profesional. Volveré de nuevo. Bien hecho 👏 el manager y su excelente equipo por favor denles mi agradecimiento.

Pleasantly surprised by the The Amber Tavern. Friendly staff who had smiles on their faces, the food was solid for the price and it came hot hot while also coming out quite quickly as well. I have had issues with steaks at other pubs but the rump here was cooked perfectly and wasn't full of fat like other places. It paired perfectly with the steak sauce I had chosen. Will be back for more for sure.

Nice place. Pity a patron kept vaping indoors two metres from where I was eating...even after being warned by the staff. And yes...I have pics.

Came here yesterday lunch time with hubby, sister and brother in law. We had tandoori chicken,burger, scampi and a curry, no complaints beautiful food and 40% off mains couldn't be better. 3 of us even managed puddings 😀

As a teetotaller, I don't usually frequent pubs, but Amber Tavern is an exception. Whenever there's a football game featuring our favorite club or the England team I join my mates there and we always have a great time.The atmosphere is electric, making it the perfect spot to watch a match.I just stick to soft drinks but even without alcohol I can appreciate the lively energy and camaraderie that Amber Tavern offers during game nights. It's become our go-to spot for football and it never disappoints.

My daughter has been violently sick with food poisoning since eating here on Saturday and it has been marked as 'temporarily closed' since.

We go every Wednesday evening for friendship meet up. The food, drinks and service are 10 out of 10. The staff are friendly and very accommodating, which is very kind of them to accommodate the group.

Came In here after having a really crappy day my day couldn't of gone any worse and turned up here and wow what staff especially trudy who welcomed us 10 mins before food was due to close and made sure that we ordered in time and kindly told the chef to make sure this is a special one as we had the worst day ever will highly recommend just for the staff well done you have my day ( well rest of it )

Went in to watch the football with friends. There was barely room to move. Understandably service was slow for food. Which was the standard pub fayre fish and chips, nachos, chicken wings. 3/5 I went into the sports bar to get drinks, and saw the bar man serving young people i knew to be underage. When I challenged him. I was told to mind my own business 'as he knew how to do his job, and if I had an issue I could leave.' At which point I did leave.

Went with family for husband's 70th Birthday food all came out together was hot everyone said the service and food was excellent.

Went to the Amber today Wednesday me and the wife we had not been there for a few weeks as the food was lukewarm. So we decided to see what it was like now. Ordered steak and a mixed grill. The wife's steak was supposed to be medium it was rare and lukewarm warm as the plates were cold so this doesn't help. My mixed grill was all lukewarm only the chips were quite warm, plate cold, left most of it. Won't be going back. Most say the staff are lovely friendly and helpful. Last part the dog loved the left overs so take your dog there.

I attended a wake with my partners family and we arrived slightly earlier than everyone else but we were welcomed and were able to purchase drinks right away. The food was also served hot and was delicious.

Por dónde empezar no he estado aquí por un tiempo, pero la señora que me atendió cuando llegué era muy agradable simplemente bajó colina de allí, volvió al bar para tomar una bebida se mantuvo allí durante 2 / 3 minutos mientras el camarero tenía una charla con alguien al otro lado del bar cuando terminó su conversación se acercó a donde estaba fui directamente a un caballero y le preguntó qué le gustaría que amablemente dijo que yo era 1 calle ojos enrollados n me sirvió como yo era ex camarera, pero estaba un poco decepcionado como un buen camarero debe saber quién es el siguiente. Comida llegó patatas fritas estaban fríos tuvimos un chisporroteo sin chisporroteo. Muy decepcionado.

Nice meal. 3 in party, 1 mega curry, 1 mixed grill and 1 tandoori skewers. All pleased with our respective choices. Quite busy today. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Entrance and lots of seating on car park level for less abled. A few blue badge parking places. Ground level toilets. Well worth a visit. Good, varied menu.

Great Saturday night. Fast service and great sizzling steak. Entertainment to with Amy Winehouse singer. I have breakfast here too. Very relaxing.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish! Staff were exceptional! Smartly dressed, attentive, friendly and hospitable. Service was quick. Waitress came over during meal to remove any empty glasses and asked us if everything was ok. We ordered the Tandoori chicken which was absolutely delicious. Very nice atmosphere. Will definately be returning. 10/10

Lovely breakfast and fantastic service

Not very good. Missed the chicken off the greek burger so sent it back, the same meal came back out with something extra on it, it didn't taste great or like chicken. Had the paaarty time Sunday got one party ring broken up and a few bits of cake so it was just vanilla ice. Will not come here again

I have lived in England for 30 years ,I am from Canada. I had my first visit to the Amber Tavern on Hagley Road this afternoon. I ordered a sizzling 8 ounce sirloin steak, I just had to give this review as this steak is the best I have had since I have resided in England , delicious 😋! The service was excellent. When I placed my order at the bar I made a mistake and ordered fries for my wife but she wanted onion rings, when the order arrived my wife noticed my error and said to me about the mistake I had made, straight away the lady who had brought our order said she would switch the fries for onion rings ,I thought this was a very nice thing for her to do. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff at the Amber Tavern!

With family and friends, food was very good for the price , some great deals on as well. The staff brought a birthday cake over, and sung happy birthday to my lad . We had cocktails after , which again are very reasonably priced.

I had a large table booked for our family to celebrate my daughters birthday the staff were so acomadating, the food was brought out quickly for the number of guests we had and were very polite and had a positive attitude. The food was absolutely fantastic! I was so impressed I've told loads of people about our experience and we definitely will be coming again.

The first time we had been there it was my sons birthday so we booked a table as soon as we walked to the bar the lovely staff were only willing to help you there was no rush we ordered our food and and within 10 minutes it was at our table sizzling and smelling lovely the food was well presented and the staff were brilliant the food was piping hot and all three of us had different meals the steak was cooked perfectly and the tandori chicken with hot vegetables was great I would like to thank the staff for being so attentive we are planing our next visit for my birthday in April we done to all the staff

Amber Tavern. I love this place. They are magnificent people the staff and the stablishment. Waiting staff absolutely brilliant.

Unfortunately when we arrived the table that was reserved for us was occupied even though it had a reserved notice. Eventually a team member came to help and the situation was resolved. Our meals were ordered and were delivered promptly and were hot, as requested, which was an improvement on the previous visit.

Lukewarm processed food. Lukewarm service. The meals looked appetising on the menu but when they came out, it was clear that there isn't any love for the job in the kitchen. Presentation was awful. The meals had clearly been standing for a while as they were dry and cool. Think, tepid school dinners in the 1980's. The meat was poor quality. "Pork belly" is simply reconstituted/reformed, thin slithers of fat that looks a little like gammon. Steak was overdone and the chicken breast appeared slimy and equally processed. Chips were tepid, gravy cold but the sausage was OK. Starters were OK but nothing special. Bar service was good but for cripes sake smile! Table service was lacklustre....and they expect a tip when ordering online BEFORE the food or service has arrived....a bit presumptuous, and we didn't the think the food or service worthy of a tip. Nobody asked if the food was OK. Won't be returning.

Two of us visited here as it was near to where my friend lives. She had fish & rice and I had fish and chips. Fish and the chips were nice but the peas were a little dry. Couple of the tables looked like they were wiped over but not properly cleaned. Bar and waiting staff were polite and helpful.

The food was somehow equal levels of burnt, cold and tasteless. Typical chain restaurant/ pub whereby you order at the bar, wait forever for cold food and whilst it is cheap, it really shows through the entire experience

The only thing good about this pub was the atmosphere the food was flavourless and dry had rack of ribs description said loaded with bbq sauce and chillie dorito crumb I had 1 tiny bit of sauce and 1 dorito the ribs were very pale looking. I asked them to take this back to the kitchen I then ordered a caesar salard and that was not nice either in the description it dosnt not say it comes with cheese And mine had grated cheese all over it and was not nice No flavour at all Drinks were good but food never eat here again

Me and my wife come here for some food my wife had the full rack of ribs and I had the mega mix grill we waited 45 minutes for our food and my wife's ribs was dry and had no flavour and wasn't hot so I complained my wife changed it to a cesar salad with chicken and bacon the cesar salad come out hotter than the ribs my mix grill was cold and all my meat was cold and the cesar salad with chicken and bacon was £3:29 cheaper than the ribs but never got it back and the cesar salad come with cheese but it didn't say it come with cheese on the menu the food was disgraceful

First visit since the refurb. Good atmosphere and menu still has a great choice of pub classics & combos. Hopefully will be serving for many more years to come. Deffo worth a visit for newbies 😉👍
