Very impressed, lovely food. Sheila the bar maid outstanding, remembered my regular order after a year! Very friendly pub.

It is a great place to unwind after a long day. Staff have always been wonderful. Food on point and very reasonably priced.

Great bar, the beer selection was ok, I tried the Cruz Campo, the Chicken wings with Buffalo and Blue Cheese sauce was great, the loaded Baconator fries were tasty though quite salty. Great service and friendly vibe..

Have visited here regularly for over 2 years. Recently the food has gone downhill massively. Since changing the menu it’s terrible , jacket potato with chilli , literally a small potato microwaved with a teaspoon of chilli , non existent , shocking . The staff surely must be embarrassed serving this up ! The staff have also changed , 1 of the lads pleasant , the other very rude , moving people for no reason other than a power trip . Get it together .

We ordered two beers paid for it and never got the beers because when the food arrived the waiter said he left our beers on in front of our face (he meant on the unattended bar) as “this is the etiquette”. The bar had a total of 10 people with no one to be served other than us and he clearly understand we were not from the UK. So we paid for a beer we never drink and the waiter didn’t try to Make up For it in any way

It's insane how one "bad apple" employee can ruin a places reputation and a guests experience. You need a new barman.

After the new management took over they have cancelled the student discounts. You are located in the Aston University just thing a bit before even removing that sort of discounts) hope you change management ASAP!

Had a very tasty meal, chicken goujons and a lasagne! With 2 Guiness, it was just over £25! Absolute bargain! Great service and nice afternoon sun trap beer garden! Great pub!

Its been THE place to go after Uni for the last 5 years. Best place to have a great time with friends and colleagues especially with such incredible staff. It has witnessed every significant milestone and celebrations for us for the last few years, such wonderful moments shared with amazing company from around the world. Highly recommend and if you are there,find us to say hi ! Also, Best chicken wings EVER.

First time here for umpteen years as I don't visit the area much but great pub with a lovely outside seating area very clean and a good choice of real Ales.

I would give 0 out of five if I could Can’t believe that a place with 3 people in would turn away people like they did today. There were 11 of us and 1 was only just 18 he didn’t have his ID but only wanted Coca Cola anyway. But because he didn’t have his ID they refused to serve the entire group of us. Absolutely appalling customer service. All I can say is they must be making loads of money if they can turn away a group of thirsty people who had just come from playing a volleyball match at the university

Awful service, woman behind the bar was rude and refused to serve a mate who didn't have his ID for a coke 😳, they refused service to all 12 of us because he didn't have ID for a glass of coke. Shocking.

Good atmosphere and, above all, good service!!! We had 6 people for lunch and we loved all the dishes, both the legendary fish & chips, as well as some vegetarian dishes. I even had a chance to chat with a girl from the staff and she was very nice. Very good job!

Arranged to meet old work Colleagues only to discover the place has a new owner. No food available - Limited choice of beer. However the Guinness was good.

Typical university bar. The food is good, but they close the kitchen very soon. It's cheaper than the one across the street, in case you're wondering.

Great staff and atmosphere but their policy on children is outdated. Like others I used to take my son here when meeting friends before the Villa games. Stonegate state that their policy is because this is a 'city centre' pub. This may be the case geographically but this pub is not a typical late night city centre pub al la Broad Street. It has the friendly welcoming atmosphere of a typical British family establishment. Stonegate need to wise up and demonstrate independence rather than following others blindly. Get with the 21st century guys!

I am a big fan of this pub since I started to go on a regular basis last year. The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff are always pleasant and quick to serve you.

Sacks of potatoes is a wonderful pub. Amazing food and a great atmosphere to have a few drinks or hang out with friends.

Barmaid refused to show the boxing and said this was not a boxing club despite request to put the boxing on. It is ridiculous!!!

I came in on Friday evening for a few pints. The staff were lovely and friendly. I was served by Cass and Vicki great customer service and full of laughter , I would definitely return.

Great pub, great food and great service by Sheila, we were well fed and watered during our Elvis weekend in a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Great pub for sports lovers as tv screens in most parts of the pub.The food is freshly cooked even the pizza are homemade. Sheila the bar lady was very friendly and the rest of the staff also will be back when back in Birmingham.

Been a number of times having the small plates e.g. 5 for £13.50 so booked the Christmas Dinner 3 courses for £19.49 for 8 of us. Totally met my expectations as excellent service , value for money and quality of food. All 8 of us loved the atmosphere and have a hugely enjoyable Christmas night out. Highly recommended and will continue with frequent visits in 2024

Nice pub off the main drag into Birmingham City centre

Unfriendly place which would not let my 15yr old son have a soft drink-even on a bench outside. Avoid if you have children. I'm ok with applying house rules and not common sense, but not the rudeness.

Careful of the car park. Ignore the signs and go and talk to the staff inside first so they can explain it to you. Waited an hour for food and had to leave in the end. Definitely won’t be going back there.

Hi everyone I have been to the sack of potatoes. I met Sheila and Clare. They were very helpful and polite. The food was of a very good standard and nothing was too much trouble. They both recommended scrambled eggs for my husband who has trouble swallowing and poor appetite. My family and myself were happy with the service we received. And as for my 4 legged family they were happy to see her there. We will go there again 100 percent. It is clean, friendly and has a good atmosphere. Please give it a go you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to return. The first thing they ask is if anyone has an allergy. Which many places never ask. I don't think there is anything on the menu you will not enjoy.

Decent wholesome food, there could have been a bit more on the plate, but otherwise reasonably good and priced. Fast service, but pub was empty for a Friday lunchtime.

As I have recently moved In to the local area, I was recommended this pub by a few friends and it didn’t disappoint. Upon arrival I was greeted by very friendly bar staff named Cassandra and Shelia and was shown to my table. However this is where the good news ends. As I opened the menu I was extremely disappointed to find out that I couldn’t order a sack of potatoes and I was even more disappointed to find out they serve cauliflower wings as nobody in there right mind would order that. I instead went for one of the pub classics which is never a pub classic an ultimate chicken tikka masala. However once I got my food I noticed hair in my food and wanted it sent back and when I got food back I was horrified to see one of the chefs spit in my food just before it was sent out. I then put my complaints to a very lovely Shelia who dealt with the issue. Furthermore this pub doesn’t allow inclusivity as a bunch of people showed up with a pride flag which were quickly booted out by the owner. The photo below believe it or not was the chicken tikka masala. I tried to point out it was a roast dinner but they insisted it was a chicken tikka masala. You can be the judge of that. Furthermore the beer was green and tasted off

A really good pub. The food was good and very reasonable price. Staff very helpful and friendly. It is a short walk from the Aloft Hotel which is a rip off in terms of prices of food and drinks. I would recommend this pub .

Absolutely amazing place. Spent the commonwealth games here for food and drinks on a daily basis. So a few of us came back a year later and it did not disappoint. Food is absolute exceptional and great value. Staff are really nice and nothing is to much. Will definitely be back again next year and highly recommend this place.

Visited at lunch time on a weekend for a bit of pub grub. I was not disappointed, the bangers and mash were lovely and the portions, very generous. Really great stuff, lovely place.

I came with a group of colleagues from work and the staff was very welcoming I believe the bar staff on the day were named Cassandra and Sheila. We order some food and it came out hot and fresh and on time and nobody was left waiting for their food. Plates and glasses was clean and atmosphere was great and the manager Vicky was very polite and made us feel like I’ve been here many times before. Would definitely come again and recommend

Staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. Vic's karaoke is a hoot. Good choice of drinks. Nice seating outside front and back. Under cover smoking area at the back.

It was OK. Unfortunately, the food was so overcookedit was hard to eat. The pub itself was fine, with a good atmosphere. We probably wouldn't go back there again to eat.

Bar person Alex was very friendly and pulled a perfect pint. Had 10oz gammon meal and it didn't disappoint. Everything was cooked perfectly and even though I wasn't too hungry I had to finish the lot! Highly recommended

its one the best places in Birmingham. For starters you can order chicken bbq wrap with fires and coke and can sit outside and enjoy the weather in summers. Also they have great indoor seating too.

The food and drinks are quiet expensive but the atmosphere is really nice.

Food Is pretty pricy your looking at a fiver for a side of CHIPS. which are pretty small. also the 2for1 cocktails are an absolute scam. they give you 2 half filled glasses. however drinks ARE NICE and the food is tasty. portions are just teeny tiny
