Superb pub restaurant. Comfortably the best in the area.

What a Jewel in the Crown! Our first choice of venue is ‘Independent’ and this met with our every desire! The menu was extensive to say the least. Lunch, a la Carte or Fish menus plus starters and desserts! They boast that NOTHING is bought in (pre-cooked) and everything is made on the premises. They even smoke their own fish! We enjoyed Salt Beef sandwich and Indian Chicken on flat bread. My wife is an aficionado of Sticky Toffee pudding and rated theirs “off the scale!” Altogether an incredible win considering we’d only gone for a walk through nearby Sutton Park. Oh, did I mention that they’re dog friendly too?

Easy parking. Warm welcome. Prompt service. Staff knowledgeable about food and drink on offer. Another delicious beef dinner, with crispy Yorkshire puddings and plenty of hot vegetables. Scrummy sticky toffee pudding and creamy ice cream. Smarties! Great value.

What a clean and well decorated bar area. Staff were friendly and relaxed, and that is a plus. Beer selection was good.

Lovely food, great menu and very sensibly priced - especially Mon-Wed. The guy who seems to be the duty-manager there is brilliant too !

Good Sunday roast alert!! 🚨 The Butlers Arms is the true definition of comfort food. A real home from home feel to the restaurant. Sunday roast was lovely and a generous portion. (Just missing stuffing!) I look forward to trying more of the menu!! Will be back. The restaurant was clean and the service was top!!

After a recommendation from a friend, we ate here on a Saturday evening, mainly to try the fish menu. Not only was the food done really well, seasoned and cooked perfectly, the service was even better. We were looked after by a guy called Tom.....he went out of his way to make sure we (and our fussy eating daughter) were happy with everything; these are the little touches that make all the difference these days and is one of the main reasons that we will definitely be back in the near future. Food + Service = Superb!

Quite disappointed to be honest. We were a late table, and in fact the last to leave, which is never a nice feeling. The Sunday dinner’s were very average. The meat was quite good but the veg were awful. Wouldn’t go back for a Sunday roast, can do far better at home!

One of the best places to eat in sutton coldfield. All the food 3 of us had was excellent. Service was also excellent. Hadn't been for a year and is still as good.

When I was a kid this used to be a quiet "old man's" local called the New Inns. Fast forward 40 years and here we have a family run gastropub. Friendly staff, excellent ale but a bit of a wait for the food. The mussels were superb as was the goat's cheese salad. Not cheap, but worth every penny

Went for dinner whilst staying with a friend. From the outside just looked like a normal village pub, inside was like what a pub should look like, great atmosphere. The food was amazing as was the staff and the service. Will definitely revisit next time I’m in Sutton Coldfield. Recommend to any one looking for a great place to have a meal.

Best pub in the area for me. Restaurant area could do with a refurb but otherwise love this place. Suitable for all - families, kids, evening with friends etc.

Booked online for lunch. The menu was quite extensive with fish a speciality. Ordered hake which was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Cheesecake to follow and equally as good. The service was friendly, professional and attentive with our being intrusive. Highly recommend.

I can honestly say this was the best meal out I’ve had in a long time. Food all piping hot and really well cooked, absolutely delicious. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, although I daresay it’s busier during the evening. Will definitely return.

Always a great foodie experience... this trip was no exception

Love it here, the food is always great and there is a nice chilled atmosphere but still feels like much more than a “gastropub”. Wine selection is good, staff are really nice and provide good service. We have been a few times and will definitely keep in our meal out rotation.

The Butlers Arms is the culinary equivalent of finding a fiver in your old jeans – pure joy and great value! The food here is a delightful fusion of pub comfort and restaurant flair, but with prices that won't make your wallet cry. Everything is home-cooked and fresh, which is probably why my meal tasted like it was made by someone’s nan with a Michelin star. If you’re looking for a place where your taste buds get a fine dining experience while your wallet enjoys a happy hour, this is it. Plus, where else can you eat a gourmet steak while sitting next to a bloke in a football jersey debating the finer points of the offside rule? Awful experience food dreadful, service mediocre.

Visited here with friends for lunch who had been before unlike us. If I was driving past I wouldn’t have given it a second glance, but now I’m really pleased our friends booked a table. Best fish and proper chips we’ve had in ages, and great value too. Extensive menu and we would have no hesitation in returning, hopefully soon.

We haven't been to the Butlers Arms for some time sort was really great to find that nothing had changed the welcome fantastic and sincere, the service and food superb we could not fault it (the baked feta was amazing) and the atmosphere warm and safe. bit disappointed with the cleanliness in the out side space ashtrays piled up from the previous nights smoke fest ,not bad inside some quirky seating which was good ,but the closed kitchen meant no dinner for us so check food times if you visit

Great experience at the Butlers arms. Staff were very attentive and the food was very good.

A bit disappointed at having to pay £8.25 for a glass of white wine; the waiter tried to assure me it was cheaper than nearby places. Then when I tried to pay for my light lunch , also £8.25 another waiter added money to the menu price. Daylight robbery! As I only took £20 with me I could not pay for my meal!

Food was not good, chips were dry and shrivelled up. Fish batter was tasteless and greasy. Staff weren’t bothered when we complained about the food. I do not recommend eating here.

We received a warm welcome from both members of staff. The choice of food on the menus was extensive and very reasonably priced. Four of us ordered haddock and chips, and one ordered faggots and mash. The service was excellent, the food and drinks were served in a very timely manner. It was the first time any of us had visited The Butlers Arms, and we were all very impressed with our experience.

Butlers Arms, Lichfield Road Sutton Coldfield A very nice meal on a Monday evening with friends and we chose from the Early Bird menu which is on from 6pm to 9pm Monday to Wednesday with mains priced at £12.95 and deserts at £6.95. We had two of the homemade corned beef hash with fried egg, one tagine in a spicy sauce, and one Indian chicken curry, all of which were enjoyed. For deserts we chose two cheesecakes, one roasted plum and one homemade sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. We had three drinks and the total bill came to £92.00. Our first visit, definitely won't be the last!! Plenty of choice from 3 menus, we went for the a la carte. Staff were very helpful and attentive, food was delicious and portion size was just right. The one thing I would recommend is booking a table, there were no spares on the night that we went (Tuesday) All in all, a brilliant night, can recommend it to everyone (especially if you like fishy dishes 😊)

Food not warm chips was terrible I think they had be cooked over and over again well I’m calling them chips but they didn’t look like chips we have been lots of times and always been good let’s hope this was a one off meal but we will not be going back for sometime

Booked on line for 5pm and left a £10 deposit. Was quiet on arrival but really busy around 6pm as it was a Saturday. Starters Scallops Squid Mains Blade of beef Crayfish and avocado salad Dessert Sticky toffee pudding Tea and coffee as drinks. Food excellent, tasty, Fresh and plenty of it. And for the prices, really excellent value. Definitely will do again. Great service too !!

Second visit and I really love this place, but the vegetarian choice is severely lacking. Only one vegan and no vegetarian option for a main course. There is so much choice for the fish and meat eaters I can't understand why. Starters and puddings were amazing.

Great local for us with eclectic decor, good honest home- cooked, ‘clean’ food, terrific well- stocked bar, carefully thought out wine list, guest beers on tap and live music once a month. This place deserves to continue to ride high and be well- supported.

Great food and attentive service. We went for lunch on a Tuesday in the new year , so the atmosphere was a little subdued.

We had a lovely lunch, the starters of white bait and baked feta were lovely. Sea bass and fried coley were beautifully cooked with lovely sauces. Prior to dessert my elderly mother had a medical emergency. In stepped Tom who was magnificent. He called for an ambulance whilst remaining calm which gave my mother and I reassure that we were in safe hands. I can't sing his praises enough. Thank you.

7 of us had a restaurant quantity meal in the bar. Superb food. Music was provided by the marvellous professional Tony Skeggs, who now performs at The Cavern in Liverpool and leads the History of The Cavern Showband in their lounge. A great night

What can I say, great food and quality beers. I had the black pudding starter which never disappoints and my wife the Prawns, both awesome. We had Steak and Seabass for mains, both cooked to perfection and finished off with the cheesecake. Service was great, smiling happy people it’s always a pleasant experience eating at the Butlers Arms.

The best roast beef I have had for a long time-

The best food for in Sutton Coldfield by a considerable distance. The tempura prawns were as big and juicy as anywhere I’ve had them. The locally made faggots and gravy were delicious and the chips are, and always have been, the ultimate chippy chip. The staff were really good and it was great to see the place busy on a Tuesday night 5 weeks before Christmas.

Amazing pub!! We had booked this for a family meal of 10 (incl 2 children) and the service and staff were so accommodating. We all had some form of beef in our meals (Sunday roast, beef fillet, slow cooked blade), there was no trouble in providing kids portions and food was cooked wonderfully. One also had the mussels and she loved it. Picture of the roast beef doesn’t do it justice but it was so well cooked with a huge Yorkshire pudding! Everything was priced very well and the quality was certainly there. Can’t complain about anything, great food, great atmosphere, very lovely service from all the staff members we spoke with and thank you so much for supporting a large group of us. Would highly recommend anyone to go! Thanks again all at The Butlers Arms - great gem in Sutton Coldfield.

The quality of the food has dipped since the last visit Pre Covid . Still able to see through kitchen door window to observe the activity. Although disappointed not to see a ‘chef’ in their whites , instead wearing a hoodie !! Concerned with lack of Hygiene . On the whole service was ok .

Good value, well presented, decent portions and very enjoyable. Visited again Sept23 and made very welcome. Excellent food and good wine choice all at very reasonable prices. Family run restaurant with excellent friendly staff. Had a fish special of whole large plaice on the bone with tarragon sauce chips and salad which was beautifully cooked at a reasonable price.

Loved it! We were there with friends, service very good & friendly myself & husband are pescatarian so to have a page full of fish seafood was fabulous great choice & very tasty it was very busy which is good to see only negative was the wine I chose not too keen but I'll know next time x

Simply great food, locally sourced and incredibly tasty. The offer they have on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, is incredible value for money too. I thoroughly recommend this place, definitely the best in Sutton Coldfield. It’s 9 years later. I’ve moved away and moved back to Four Oaks. It’s still the best food around!

Second time here. Didn't book, just popped in. We were told straight away that there would be at least a 20 minute wait before our order was taken. Didn't mind this at all, gave us chance to relax and have a drink first. Very busy and staff most apologetic for our wait. Food well worth waiting for. Will definitely return.

Absolutely excellent place to eat - everything is fresh, local and beautifully cooked. Really nice hearty mains (the faggots are to die for!) and a sublime selection of desserts.
