Really really good food, great gluten free options with great flavour.

What a delightful lunch we have just had here. The menu is varied and interesting. The starter was delicious and so nicely presented. Main course was so tasty and looked super. Biscoff cheesecake - what a delight. We have always found the service to be polite and professional, friendly without being intrusive and efficient. Reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommended.

Had Sunday lunch here , very disappointed all our plates were cold the food was just about lukewarm, but by the time we was at the end of eating our meals everything was cold . The veg in separate dishes was cold too . We had no check back during our meals , the only interaction was when the older waiter that had taken our order came to clear our plates ! He asked how everything was and we was honest and said all cold ! He asked if we had had check back and we said NO ! He said he would let the kitchen know , he never came back with an explanation 😟. A lot of money wasted in our opinion. Not happy .

Lunch with a friend and we chose a Black Pudding starter followed by Main course Faggots. Very Dudley! Excellent yet we are not from the Black Country. Plus well kept beer. Excellent service and Can't wait to return for more.

Perfect Mothers day spent at Butlers, excellent food, incredible roast dinner with THE best Yorkshire puds. Becky and her team gave us the warmest of welcomes and superb attentive service throughout. By far my favourite place to eat, great atmosphere, great food, great service!

We have been here twice this week to celebrate special family occasions, our golden wedding anniversary on Saturday and our grandson's 21st birthday today. On both occasions we have had great service and the food has been excellent! We were a group of 15 on Saturday and 11 tonight and the food has been served to all of us with good timing, nobody had to wait for their meals even though we were a big group. We could not fault anything Saturday was our first experiences of eating here and we enjoyed it so much we went back tonight, we will be going back again!!

Food okay but used to be much better.

Wonderful greeting and service from the staff. The food was beyond excellent , full of flavours. The black pudding salad topped with a poached egg was a combination I never thought I’d ever try and the sea bass was plentiful and tasty. The only slight downside is that we visited in the evening and the venue felt chilly however this will not stop us visiting again in the near future

A great pub with amazing food, drinks and staff.

We popped into this pub passing through Sutton on a weekday afternoon. It was not busy, given the time, however it is a nice pub. The menu was decent. The only downside was not having a kids menu. Otherwise, nice food and good service.

We booked a table for my Birthday. I was encouraged by reputation, but I was very disappointed. The staff are helpful and the service is good. The food is only average . The standard is not gastro but just pub food. The ambiance might have been quirky a while back, but it now looks very tired. Ok for a pub meal but not if you want something special.

On many visits the beers have been good. Also bar snacks have been good. My last visit for a meal in their “restaurant” area was ok but nothing up to expectations based on friend’s reports. Great staff a good service but the general ambiance is poor and the food unexceptional. Noted for fish my partners see bass was generous and well cooked but the accompaniment was poor. My hand made burger seemed more frozen supermarket than restaurant.

We booked a table for 5 @1830hrs for my mother-in-laws 70th birthday, I would like to complement the venue, the serving & cooking staff for an excellent all round experience. In particular it was novel to note the waiting staff all being men & very genuine with their attention to your customers, specifically the mature balding gentleman, he has the professionalism to grace the very best of establishments (embarrassingly I didn't get his name). The menu was refreshingly selective & food was exceptional value for money. I hope the tip expressed our appreciation. Lovely atmosphere and staff Starters and desserts great . Mains very large - my chicken on mash was enormous for me.Chicken a bit dry , sauce a bit ordinary and mash extremely ordinary.

Always good quality 'clean' food, served simply and good value. An eclectic pub, with good beer and drinks selection, all at prices comparable with the chain pubs. The difference is The Butlers food is always heart- burn/ indigestion proof! If you haven't been and usually go to a chain pub, why not just give it a try?

This as got a 5 star Michelin place. Absolutely top draw. Food was great and elegant. I absorbed the atmosphere with tranquil pleasure

Visited for lunch today with family. It was lovely. Food was fresh and tasty and also reasonably priced. It was cosy and pretty unique inside - Its nice to visit a place that is family run and not a chain. There are babychanging facilities which my partner said were excellent. They also had lovely cask ales on which had obviously been looked after. All in all a great find - we will be back!

We came for a meal just before Christmas. Great place with lively atmosphere and friendly, attentive team. Meal was superb and service exceptional. Never fails to deliver.

Met up with 25 members of our family, travelling from all over the place. We were all able to sit together in one area of the restaurant. The staff were welcoming and very patient as 3 people were a bit late. The food was excellent as usual and the service fantastic. Can't wait for a return visit next year.

Our 10th Christmas day experince at The Butlers commenced with Bucks Fizz an arrival There should have been 4 of us but due to family illness there were just the 2 of us. As it was so short notice we offered to pay in full for the missing two since food would have be purchased, however after checking witht the manager the staff looking after us, sorry I forgot to ask their names, confirmed that this would not be necessary so we compromised with paying for one in full. The food was excellent from start to finish. Service was second to none. The overall experience delivered by The Butlers team was wonderful as usual. However, neither The Butlers Arms nor I can account for individuals that term themselves as customers and from what I had the pleasure of overhearing they are clearly more comfortable ordering food and eating in the carpark outside of a fast food chain. They had little or no respect to the staff, no decorum or a basic understanding of business transactions... ie when you book and give no notice of change until to arrive on the day, you pay for it! It's not the businesses fault and these things happen but to insist and infer that the staff working lacked experience is in my book dam right rude. Our experince was faultless. The impact of the above meant that we were delayed slightly to be seated as we had to be relocated. I also had the 'pleasure' of hearing another table ask to have the service charge to be removed! Go figure! What is it with people nowadays? ...anyway happy new year, McDonald's are doing a special burger so can I suggest that the inviduals as referred in the above return to the Environment where they are most comfortable x

Nice selection of food including a good fish menu and a good priced mid-week selection. Very good service and nice atmosphere. Equally nice selection of drinks and wines. Fair pricing for the quality of restaurant.

Service was extremely slow and the overpriced two course dinner was disappointing to say the least. The nearly Christmas dinner wasn’t even nearly - two not very big chunks of turkey, a large portion of tasteless bubble and squeak, near cold carrots, no potatoes and definitely one to avoid. The ‘Cheesecake’ was nothing like any cheesecake I’ve eaten elsewhere - it was sweet, sickly and overpowering. Would I want to come back again? No, Never, Never.

The Nearly Christmas Dinner was unfortunately, exactly that. A very small portion of stuffing and turkey, some (frozen) carrots and a few potatoes. There were seven of us, and three of us ordered the plum crumble. Do not order this! It was very strange. The restaurant readily took two of them off the bill as they weren't eaten but made it clear they were going to charge for the third as it had been eaten. Fair enough but they really were awful desserts for the cost and on a big bill, we felt this was a little petty. I mentioned this very politely to the manageress but started to get a bit of attitude back, so left it and settled the bill with a smile!

We have visited The Butler's Arms a couple of times since moving to the area. It has been excellent on both occasions. The atmosphere is lovely, service is really friendly, and whilst it can be a little slower than average in terms of the delivery of the food, it is made pretty clear that that is a possibility, and is because the food is all freshly cooked and they take care over the dishes. The food choice is superb - varies based on the season and availability, and there is a fantastic fish selection. It's a really excellent foodie pub.

9 of us dined for lunch and it was wonderful. A big shout out to Tom. Thanks also to Becky for accommodating the extra 2 dinners. We all had a wonderful time.

What a Jewel in the Crown! Our first choice of venue is ‘Independent’ and this met with our every desire! The menu was extensive to say the least. Lunch, a la Carte or Fish menus plus starters and desserts! They boast that NOTHING is bought in (pre-cooked) and everything is made on the premises. They even smoke their own fish! We enjoyed Salt Beef sandwich and Indian Chicken on flat bread. My wife is an aficionado of Sticky Toffee pudding and rated theirs “off the scale!” Altogether an incredible win considering we’d only gone for a walk through nearby Sutton Park. Oh, did I mention that they’re dog friendly too?

Easy parking. Warm welcome. Prompt service. Staff knowledgeable about food and drink on offer. Another delicious beef dinner, with crispy Yorkshire puddings and plenty of hot vegetables. Scrummy sticky toffee pudding and creamy ice cream. Smarties! Great value.

What a clean and well decorated bar area. Staff were friendly and relaxed, and that is a plus. Beer selection was good.

Good Sunday roast alert!! 🚨 The Butlers Arms is the true definition of comfort food. A real home from home feel to the restaurant. Sunday roast was lovely and a generous portion. (Just missing stuffing!) I look forward to trying more of the menu!! Will be back. The restaurant was clean and the service was top!!

After a recommendation from a friend, we ate here on a Saturday evening, mainly to try the fish menu. Not only was the food done really well, seasoned and cooked perfectly, the service was even better. We were looked after by a guy called Tom.....he went out of his way to make sure we (and our fussy eating daughter) were happy with everything; these are the little touches that make all the difference these days and is one of the main reasons that we will definitely be back in the near future. Food + Service = Superb!

Quite disappointed to be honest. We were a late table, and in fact the last to leave, which is never a nice feeling. The Sunday dinner’s were very average. The meat was quite good but the veg were awful. Wouldn’t go back for a Sunday roast, can do far better at home!

One of the best places to eat in sutton coldfield. All the food 3 of us had was excellent. Service was also excellent. Hadn't been for a year and is still as good.

When I was a kid this used to be a quiet "old man's" local called the New Inns. Fast forward 40 years and here we have a family run gastropub. Friendly staff, excellent ale but a bit of a wait for the food. The mussels were superb as was the goat's cheese salad. Not cheap, but worth every penny

Went for dinner whilst staying with a friend. From the outside just looked like a normal village pub, inside was like what a pub should look like, great atmosphere. The food was amazing as was the staff and the service. Will definitely revisit next time I’m in Sutton Coldfield. Recommend to any one looking for a great place to have a meal.

Best pub in the area for me. Restaurant area could do with a refurb but otherwise love this place. Suitable for all - families, kids, evening with friends etc.

Booked online for lunch. The menu was quite extensive with fish a speciality. Ordered hake which was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Cheesecake to follow and equally as good. The service was friendly, professional and attentive with our being intrusive. Highly recommend.

I can honestly say this was the best meal out I’ve had in a long time. Food all piping hot and really well cooked, absolutely delicious. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, although I daresay it’s busier during the evening. Will definitely return.

Always a great foodie experience... this trip was no exception

Love it here, the food is always great and there is a nice chilled atmosphere but still feels like much more than a “gastropub”. Wine selection is good, staff are really nice and provide good service. We have been a few times and will definitely keep in our meal out rotation.

The Butlers Arms is the culinary equivalent of finding a fiver in your old jeans – pure joy and great value! The food here is a delightful fusion of pub comfort and restaurant flair, but with prices that won't make your wallet cry. Everything is home-cooked and fresh, which is probably why my meal tasted like it was made by someone’s nan with a Michelin star. If you’re looking for a place where your taste buds get a fine dining experience while your wallet enjoys a happy hour, this is it. Plus, where else can you eat a gourmet steak while sitting next to a bloke in a football jersey debating the finer points of the offside rule? Awful experience food dreadful, service mediocre.

Visited here with friends for lunch who had been before unlike us. If I was driving past I wouldn’t have given it a second glance, but now I’m really pleased our friends booked a table. Best fish and proper chips we’ve had in ages, and great value too. Extensive menu and we would have no hesitation in returning, hopefully soon.

We haven't been to the Butlers Arms for some time sort was really great to find that nothing had changed the welcome fantastic and sincere, the service and food superb we could not fault it (the baked feta was amazing) and the atmosphere warm and safe. bit disappointed with the cleanliness in the out side space ashtrays piled up from the previous nights smoke fest ,not bad inside some quirky seating which was good ,but the closed kitchen meant no dinner for us so check food times if you visit

Great experience at the Butlers arms. Staff were very attentive and the food was very good.

A bit disappointed at having to pay £8.25 for a glass of white wine; the waiter tried to assure me it was cheaper than nearby places. Then when I tried to pay for my light lunch , also £8.25 another waiter added money to the menu price. Daylight robbery! As I only took £20 with me I could not pay for my meal!

Food was not good, chips were dry and shrivelled up. Fish batter was tasteless and greasy. Staff weren’t bothered when we complained about the food. I do not recommend eating here.

We received a warm welcome from both members of staff. The choice of food on the menus was extensive and very reasonably priced. Four of us ordered haddock and chips, and one ordered faggots and mash. The service was excellent, the food and drinks were served in a very timely manner. It was the first time any of us had visited The Butlers Arms, and we were all very impressed with our experience.

Butlers Arms, Lichfield Road Sutton Coldfield A very nice meal on a Monday evening with friends and we chose from the Early Bird menu which is on from 6pm to 9pm Monday to Wednesday with mains priced at £12.95 and deserts at £6.95. We had two of the homemade corned beef hash with fried egg, one tagine in a spicy sauce, and one Indian chicken curry, all of which were enjoyed. For deserts we chose two cheesecakes, one roasted plum and one homemade sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. We had three drinks and the total bill came to £92.00. Our first visit, definitely won't be the last!! Plenty of choice from 3 menus, we went for the a la carte. Staff were very helpful and attentive, food was delicious and portion size was just right. The one thing I would recommend is booking a table, there were no spares on the night that we went (Tuesday) All in all, a brilliant night, can recommend it to everyone (especially if you like fishy dishes 😊)

Food not warm chips was terrible I think they had be cooked over and over again well I’m calling them chips but they didn’t look like chips we have been lots of times and always been good let’s hope this was a one off meal but we will not be going back for sometime

Booked on line for 5pm and left a £10 deposit. Was quiet on arrival but really busy around 6pm as it was a Saturday. Starters Scallops Squid Mains Blade of beef Crayfish and avocado salad Dessert Sticky toffee pudding Tea and coffee as drinks. Food excellent, tasty, Fresh and plenty of it. And for the prices, really excellent value. Definitely will do again. Great service too !!

Second visit and I really love this place, but the vegetarian choice is severely lacking. Only one vegan and no vegetarian option for a main course. There is so much choice for the fish and meat eaters I can't understand why. Starters and puddings were amazing.

Great food and attentive service. We went for lunch on a Tuesday in the new year , so the atmosphere was a little subdued.

We had a lovely lunch, the starters of white bait and baked feta were lovely. Sea bass and fried coley were beautifully cooked with lovely sauces. Prior to dessert my elderly mother had a medical emergency. In stepped Tom who was magnificent. He called for an ambulance whilst remaining calm which gave my mother and I reassure that we were in safe hands. I can't sing his praises enough. Thank you.
