The Alyth Hotel Restaurant in Perth & Kinross

My wife and I spent two very comfortable nights in this nicely situated Alyth Hotel/Restaurant which has recently been refurbished to high standards of furnishing, fittings and workmanship whilst retaining good affordability. Breakfast and dining options are surprisingly long and varied and everything we ordered was well prepared, tasty and generously portioned. Particularly enjoyed were the calves liver and cod dishes along with a unique salad accompanying some of the starter plates. Nothing too much trouble for the lovely staff. Only a wider selection of their reasonably priced whiskies would have enhanced my experience!

Excellent food and service. Would have liked if there had been a little more ambience, but overall a very pleasant lunch. A Special 2-course lunch menu might bring in more customers. We were one of the few tables on that particular day, which was a shame. Perhaps a menu board outside the premises too?

My Partner and I are just back from a two night weekend break at the Alyth Hotel. The Hotel is Lovely, the Room we had was overlooking the Alyth Burn and the Town Market Square. The sound of the water running in the Burn and over the Weir was so relaxing. The restaurant was amazing and the food was so good. We had Beakfast both mornings and Dinner both evenings. All was excellent. My Partner especially enjoyed the Arbroath Smokie Pot starter, so much so that he had it both evenings we were there. Alasdair and his team were so friendly and welcoming, would do anything for you. We very much hope to return to the Alyth Hotel in the future and will most definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Great meal with excellent service in an establishment that I know well. I do believe the meal gets better each time. Alyth needed to have an hotel and restaurant in the middle of town so it’s good to see how well it’s being supported after such a long time closed for refurbishment.

Popped in on the off chance of a late lunch.. 2.30 and the staff were welcoming and very accommodating. The hotel has recently been renovated to a good standard. The venue is clean and modern. Our food was great too; fish and chips, Cullen Skink and the chicken curry. All dishes were home made and arrived hot. Really pleasantly surprised. And the service was brilliant. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our salmon and cream cheese sandwiches with crisps and a lovely mixed salad . Well presented and waiting staff were very attentive and polite. Will definitely return

We’re new to Alyth and had a family get together today, 12 of us. We pre booked our choices as we were a large group and food and service excellent. Would definitely recommend and go back

Booked a table for 7pm on Sunday night for 2, to see for the first time the newly refurbished hotel. What a splendid job has been made on the refurbishment. Very tastefully done. We were made very welcome from the moment we entered the hotel. We were shown to our table and given a very nice menu to choose from plus some extra on the special board. Service was very prompt after we made our choices. While waiting we were served very nice wine and given bread with a garlic dip. We both had the smoked salmon starter which was both delicious and a generous platter. For my main I recieved a very generous helping of pan fried lambs liver which was cooked to perfection. If I had any criticism it would have been that I would have settled for less liver and a bit more fresh vegetables with it. Just one scoop of potatoes. For our sweet my wife had the 3 scoop ice cream from Stewart Towers Diary and I had the Icky Sticky pudding . Both excellent. For coffee lovers the flat white was an excellent choice to finish with. All in all, great service, excellent food and comfortable surroundings. I forgot to ask the ladies name that was in charge that night but she was from Meigle and she was both professional and friendly. Thank you.

First time visit to this newly refurbished hotel. There were three of us and we all chose different meals, curry, baked cod and lamb’s liver. All were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by us. The decor had the hotel has been very carefully chosen and is very effective in providing the nicest ambience for a lovely meal. Will definitely be back ~ thank you …….

What a loved hotel. Was staying a the local caravan site, and decided to go for a drink in the bar. What a lovely place, recently refurbished. Great service and staff. Visited the next night for a drink and meal in the restaurant. Great choice of food. My wife suffers from coeliac, but they had GF options, so no problem. We.both opted for the Chicken Tikka Masala, and I must say, that being a big fan of Indian food, and having travelled around thw world, and visited some of the best Indian Restaurants, this has to be one of the best I have tasted. Should have asked the chef for his recipe. So if you’re in Alyth, give it a try, well worth the visit.

First time experiencing the newly opened hotel and booked a meal for seven for a family occasion. Food was brilliant and great value, the newly renovated restaurant is very nice and tastefully decorated, lovely selection of food on the menus, portion sizes were generous and would not hesitate to recommend. Look forward to our next visit.

Excellent Father’s Day lunch. Food was delicious, staff are friendly and attentive, along with lovely surroundings it made a an enjoyable afternoon out. Highly recommend.

As it says on the tin , fantastic Took my elderly father on Sunday 05th after reading all the reviews . His mobilty is bad so i did a quick recon of the premises where the owner made us very welcome showing us the much needed disabled facilites which were excellent 👌 and theres ample parking at the front door Nothing was too much trouble regarding being seaded in a spacious area ..thankyou for your attentivness The two young girls ( cook and waitress ) were very friendly and also attentive making sure we were ok . The food was served promptly and efficiently Lentil soup Macaroni garlic bread n chips Apple pie n custard An Irn Bru Coffee n biscuit for Dad as he wasnt hungry The portion sizes were perfect in my opinion and the food was very tasty . The final bill was £11 😀 Cant wait to come back with the rest of the family and was well worth the drive up from Perth ( lots of free parking beside the hotel ) Thankyou for a wonderful and friendly experince in lovely surroundings Well worth a day out Thankyou Ian

Had a nice meal today & couldn't believe the price. I had the macaroni cheese & it was very good. The young girl that served us was lovely. So helpful, friendly,chatty & attentive. I would score her 10 out of 10.

Visited the Alyth Hotel with a friend for afternoon tea today. Fantastic! For an incredibly reasonable £21 we received a three tier selection of beautifully presented, fresh, home made sandwiches and cakes and with Prosecco! The perfect portion size for two, we cleared the platter (so no waste) but left feeling full. The atmosphere was cosy and friendly. The owner, Stewart, was attentive and charming and the family friendly atmosphere was warm and welcoming. All in all a wonderful experience. 10/10

We wanted to try this place on the first night we moved to Alyth and are both vegan. We were delighted to see they had vegetarian options on their menu but it turns out they cook everything in BEEF FAT!! We have discussed reporting them to food standards and still may do this as people have dietary requirements for allergy reasons as well as personal choice. Absolutely ridiculous place

Four of us (2 couples) had meal in Alyth Hotel last night and it was fantastic. We all had different starters and main courses and we all agreed each one was superb. The prices are very realistic ( as are the drink prices and, believe me, we sampled a few). Stewart and Louis are great hosts and all the Staff were very friendly and welcoming. This is first time I have been there since these guys took over and I will certainly be back (often). My brother and sister-in-law, who we dined with, have had meals from the take away menu and said they were excellent also. Must mention too that decor is lovely.

I can not recommend this place enough. Our visit to the Alyth Hotel Restaurant has left me stuffed and speechless. It is hard to put into words just how full of flavour the food is. I Sampled their Indian menu and it was just tremendous. Chicken pakora cooked to a crisp perfection served with the most amazing sauce I've ever tasted. moving onto the masala which somehow transported me direct to the heart of India. i enjoy Indian food but these guys took it to a whole new level. The staff there are so warm, welcoming and helpful. We will definatly be making this a regular treat and highly recommend you do the same. If you want clean, fresh modern dining with a countryside pub feel, reasonably priced food and outstanding service and taste then this is for you. The Alyth Hotel Restaurant truly is a treasure.

Stayed in Alyth for 3 nights, ate at this hotel for two evenings, great food, tentative service, and good prices! Would recommend, enjoyable evening!

Had a lovely family meal at the Alyth Hotel. Very good food and service. A lovely friendly, relaxing meal.

When my food arrived I was underwhelmed, though the crockery was nice the food left a lot to be desired. I had the chicken stuffed with haggis and it was so overcooked that it was difficult to cut, dauphinois potatoes that certainly weren’t made that day. The new owners gave done a beautiful job of renovating the restaurant. I think they now need to focus on their food. We were there the night of the lights being switched on and though there were lots of people in for a drink the tables weren’t busy with food.

Well worth a shot since the re opening under new ownership in November . Menu choice and quality of the food was excellent . Service also very good.

Visited on a Monday, early evening. On our arrival staff seemed more interested in cuddling a dog than greeting potential custom. Advised by the chef, sat at the bar, that service was going to be for hotel guests only. Standards have definitely dropped, not even able to get simple customer service right. Disappointed as I’ve enjoyed many family meals out over the past years.

This was an excellent meal, served with courtesy and friendliness. It was excellent value. The whole experience was really very nice indeed.

Don’t know if establishment has changed hands but it does not seem to be maintaining the standards it used to have 12 months ago. A number of standard basic items were not available on the menu and some common varieties of wine were also unavailable.The food was served in a reasonable time and was of a very good standard and the staff were quite friendly

Recently refurbished due to a flood two years ago, and the pub area still under renovation, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alyth Hotel. Outstanding was the welcoming staff who made us feel like old friends!

My wife and I went for a meal to a restaraunt that we have used a lot even though it was good it was not quite as good as it used to be and felt sorry for the staff as there was only 2 on (1 chef and 1 waitress) and they seemed to run out of selections off the menu

Had an evening meal here and as pub food goes, this was good. Got quite busy so I reckon they must be doing it right. Fish and chips were good and plenty of it.

Cosy local hotel in Alyth. Locality excellent for us, lovely picturesque town full of history with great walks.

1st time for this place. Got parked out side. Menu typical of pub grub. Good choice went for higjh tea. 3 courses with tea/coffee. Srrvrd quickly. Food was hot and ambience of place nice. Staff were friendly. Going bsck to this place end of this month. Would recommend.

We called in to have a break before walking another three miles to our holiday accommodation. Lovely lady at the bar, the best bowl of chunky chips, some nice Guiness, listening to some locals chatting. It felt proper cosy. Thank you for good service.

We dined here for 4 consecutive nights, the food is excellent and a wide home made choice. the staff are extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome.

After checking in I was taken to my room and very dissapointed by the stained upholstery on the chair (what was it?) It was not until evening when I really became depressed...I was put in a room over the bar/restaurant where live music was playing till way past midnight. Lucky for me my traveling partner's room included 2 beds so I was able to get a little sleep!! Her room was not cleaned and she found a dirty towel hanging on the door with "used" soap in the shower! OOGY!! Our cab service was able to take us around the next morning until we found beautiful accomodations at the Lands of Loyal!! Stay away from this place at any price!!

We ate here twice.. A fine menu with plenty of variety at a good price. The staff were helpful and prompt to serve us. An excellent experience.

Another great meal when we popped in after being on holiday the only slight problem was my wife,s soup was cold but it was rectified and the rest as usual was of great quality

Had er geboekt voor 4 kamers. Was maar 1 kamer vrij. De manager was zo eerlijk om te zeggen dat hij ons vergeten was maar zocht dadelijk een oplossing. Drie kamers kregen wij in een naburige B&B;, 150 meter verder, (die ik toevallig ook ken) en 1 kamer in hotel. Het ontbijt en diner was in het hotel. Wij dineerden in het hotel en als compensatie was al de drank die wij hadden gebruik, aperitief, wijn en bier alsook de koffie / thee op kosten van het hotel. Dit werd door ons groepje echt op prijs gesteld.

We stayed in the hotel and dined in the restaurant and the food is delicious. All home cooked meals at great prices. The homemade steak pie and the haggis stuffed chicken breast were really good. Worth a visit.

Stayed for the one night dinner bed and breakfast, reception area not very clear.Room was very noisy above the bar, beds were very uncomfortable.Bedroom could do with being updated along with bathroom.Dinner was pleasant and staff were friendly.

Visited this hotel restaurant on a number of occasions and have been amazed at the quality of food. Menu has something for everyone with daily specials offering an alternative to the set menu. Portions are very generous. Service is great - staff can't do enough.

Wir waren zum fünfigsten Geburtstag meiner Tochter mit 8 Personen. Das restaurant war gedroschen voll. Die Auswahl an Speisen war sehr gut, etwas für jeden Geschmack. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Getränkekarte war auch gelungen, ohne ein Wunsch offen zu lassen.

This is a nice, informal place to go for surprisingly good food and tasty recipes. Had a beer and a very nice dinner there.

We called on the off chance of getting a table as we had been out for the day and I didn't want to cook! We entered to a friendly greeting and shown to a table with a view over the local square. The menu is wholesome and has some traditional Scottish fayre which we were pleased about. The Chicken was well cooked and moist and I was able to change the teaditional veg to preferred salad, The pie option passed muster, according to my other half and as you know he is well versed on many a pie! We were both fairly full after our meals but always have room for a dessert even if we had to share. So pleased to say we will call again as the value was excellent, the service good, location central in the village with easy parking.

We both ate and stayed at the hotel. The restaurant beats the accommodation for quality. Good salmon, good roast belly of pork and there are veggie options available. Recommended.

Das Restaurant lag in der Nähe unserer Unterkunft und wurde uns empfohlen. Das Essen war sehr gut und es hat nicht lange gedauert bis es serviert wurde. Wir hatten Lachs mit neuen Kartoffeln und Dillsauce mit Garnelen und Fisch mit Pommes. Der Preis war für uns auch in Ordnung.

We visited Alyth yesterday as a trip down memory lane to see where my family comes from.

We had dinner here on our first evening in Alyth and really enjoyed the happy and bustling atmosphere, the friendly and open staff (we had no booking on a busy night) and also the generous servings of food. We decided on local fare which was tasty and a great start for our holiday.

Egentlig var det mere af nød end af lyst, at vi tog til Alyth. Kunne ganske enkelt ikke finde andet i udkanten af højlandet, men det der skulle være en overnatning blev til fire, vi valgte at blive på hotellet og køre ud derfra.Det er ikke luksus, men der er hvad der skal være, personalet var helt fantastiske, oprigtig interesserede i vores ve og vel, desuden var maden i restauranten rigtig god. Prisen var også i orden.......alt i alt et super sted i en lille skotsk by.....lidt langt ude på landet ;-)

On a recent trip to Scotland to see family we booked a table for the Tuesday evening for 8 adults and 2 children. The restaurant was quite busy for a Tuesday evening! The table was set out for us on arrival and the service was good. We all had a mixture of starters, mains and puddings and a selection of drinks. I have to say, I had the chicken starter and it was delicious with the sweet chilli sauce. Overall, excellent setting for a family meal and will definitely return on my next visit home.

at strathmore golf course today lovely golf course very scenic tricky greens but most enjoyable had a meal after which also was excellent in all , a great day out.

I travel from fife to take a relative to Alyth hotel for lunch. The fish parcel is wonderful. The staff are attentive, friendly and helpful.

Hebben hier 1 nacht verbleven . Dat ze deze kamer nog verhuren een schande . Heel kleine ouderwetse kamer met kartonnen muren boven de zeer luidruchtige pub die luide muziek had tot in de nacht .Je hoorde je buren gewoon praten . Je kon de raam niet openen of je verging van de rook , rokers stonden vlak onder je raam . Lang wachten op je ontbijt . Hier kom ik nooit terug .

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and we did have to wait quite a while for our meal - but it was worth it! Friendly, helpful staff, pleasant surroundings, a large choice, huge portions and tasty, well-cooked food - what's not to like! We wioll certainly be back.

We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant as we were there on an overnight stay. Thoroughly enjoyed both. The prawn cocktail starter and the steak pie were generous portion size so much so that we had no room left for dessert. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially the manager. We went with my elderly parents and they loved everything about the place.

Back there on Sunday past for a High Tea with two of my other friends, This is must to have at a price of £9.25 pp what a lovely tea this was, Staff excellent in a nice friendly atmosphere.Cheers to you all at Alyth Hotel

Lovely setting, restaurant is quite basic but lovely all the same, relaxed environment with extremely helpful and friendly staff, generous portions and fresh good quality! Daily specials board too :-)

Had breakfast, lunch and dinner here while we were staying in the hotel. The menu is fairly large, with everything at a reasonable price. The whole time we were here we tried the fry up, burger, mac and cheese, lasagna and fish and chips, as well as most of the starters! The portion sizes are fairly substantial, and quality is reasonable. I found the burger slightly over cooked, and definitely not the place to eat if you want to be healthy, but we were generally happy with most of the things we tried. The staff have to have a mention as they definitely go above and beyond in terms of customer service. Very happy with it in terms of it being attached to the Alyth hotel and would recommend coming here as a whole.

At alyth hotel right now. Food excellent. Waitress is just the best !!! Atmosphere here is lovely . Come here again and again!! Well worth the visit and prices are good. Excellent value for money and entertainment!!

Fantastic Hotel. David the manager is so friendly, he can't do enough for you and heis so cheerful. The Restaurant is superb. We have been three times and every timethe food was as good as the last. We were sick of going back to Restaurants whichwere fantastic and let us down the next time but at this hotel we can't fault it.

Being vegetarian, I was limited to a choice of macaroni cheese or a roasted vegetable three cheese Wellington, chose the latter but was very disappointing. I was presented with a huge lump of pastry with 6 strips of roasted pepper and a bit of melted cheese sitting in a nice tomato sauce, a lump of lettuce leaves and a few boiled potatoes, definitely not worth the £10.95 paid. Not the first time I've been disappointed with the selection and quality of vegetarian food at this restaurant.

the service could not find any fault friendly and prompt.the food was excellent .party of 9 and not one could find any fault. meals fantastic ..the chicken starter was massive !and my friends said the venison was to die for ( my bell pork was to ) we all left full ! will definately return

It's hard when you live in a small town or are visiting a small town and have particular dietary requirements. There is a definite gap in the market for vegan meals, and the Alyth Hotel, unlike another nearby establishment has not made any attempts to fill this growing market. Despite there being a really good selection of food available for meat eaters, there were only two vegetarian options. The meals provided to other members of my party looked lovely, and they were delighted with their food. I thought I was ahead of the game by pre-ordering, and was looking forward to a mushroom and lentil hotpot with mashed potato. What arrived was a shallow dish with some mushrooms, undercooked lentils and onions with some dried up carrots or sweet potato slices (still couldn't work out what they were) on top with salad on the plate instead of vegetables, no gravy and boiled potatoes in their jackets that had been "squashed" with a fork.. I asked for some gravy, for my potatoes to be mashed, and for some vegetables. My potatoes were mashed, but it was the potatoes from my plate with the skin mashed through - no attempt had been made to source dairy free spread, and the "seasoning" on the mushroom/lentil "thing" hit the back of my throat and was inedible. After being told there was no vegetable gravy, I suggested how they could make it, and indeed some gravy did arrive, when I had finished poking around looking for something edible on my plate. To be fair, the manager and waitress were very apologetic, and did bring me once requested a beautiful plate of vegetables. They did also offer my party a complimentary drink as the mood had been ruined. Despite pre-ordering, there was also no desert available, instead I was apologetically offered some berries! How hard would it have been to get some non dairy spread and milk and whip up a fruit crumble and custard? Not good enough! I definitely won't be back unless the menu changes and the Alyth Hotel moves into the 21st century! Worst of all, it wasn't even busy! Now I know why.

We went on two consecutive evenings and still had more than enough choice. The food was excellent as was the friendly and efficient service.

I had the bruschetta and a burger and can honestly say they were both absolutely delicious. Restaurant is a little plain and dingy looking inside but the food is utterly superb.

Best meal I have had for ages. Excellent. Even fussy husband was very impressed. Ambiance perfect. Service second to none. We really wanted a desert but couldn't manage it. Will make sure we get it the next time.

We ate there on one wet Saturday night this October (2016). We were served by the most competent and willing young lady who brought us an excellent meal and a bottle of wine... all first class. The place is looking good after all the flooding in the village and as the evening wore in it also seems to well patronised by locals and visitors alike. We shall certainly return.

We were lead to believe that this was a really good place to eat but it was not. The staff were helpful but the food was very average although there was plenty of it. The place was busy with locals so perhaps we were just unlucky. The wine was very good though! Would not go again

Last Sunday we were invited from a friends to join them for a meal at the Alyth Hotel,we all looked at the menul and noticed a high tea was also on offer. We all decided to have this and it could not be faulted along with the scones and cakes. Great value at £9.25 )Service good and surroundings.
