Great place to eat and drink without paying the extortionate prices! Food is always fresh and hot with lots of choice, great atmosphere with friendly and caring staff. Michelle you were amazing, thank you!

Used the small room for a family 70th birthday. Dropped balloons in before the day and the team decorated the area for us. They were super attentive and provided great service. We had the buffet for 25 people, the fish goujons, beef pies and sausage rolls were exceptional. A great day was had by all

5* service from Ayla , friendly and goes the extra mile. Food was beautiful, pub was clean and reasonably priced. 100% recommend thank you Ayla for making David’s 80 birthday special

Came in today for a late lunch. Food was great but felt rushed even though restaurant was empty. Waitress was pleasant but when it come to asking for the bill at the end she said “can you wait 2 minutes or do you need it now as was going to go out for a cigarette?” I couldn’t quite believe that she said that to us. We didn’t know what to say apart from ok. While eating also we noticed that the staff who were on breaks rolling up their cigarettes. It’s just not acceptable. Also we brought our dog along as it says the pub is dog friendly but didn’t feel that way when what looked like the manager was judging because she barked once. It didn’t make us feel welcome. Don’t advertise a pub as welcoming dogs then treat people this way.

Great service but average food. Haloumi wrap was dry and chewy. Sauces on the menu were absent. Not a nice dish. Disappointed

Really impressed with the pub and the staff were so friendly. One lady who served us was great especially as I had a stressful drive to the place. Will definitely return.

Best Sausage & Mash ive ever had in my life! Amazing sausages cooked to perfection, delicious creamy mash, and the gravy and crispy onion rings combo were out of this world!

Extremely disappointed. After a difficult day we booked a table for dinner at 20.40. Booking confirmed. On arrival we found the restaurant staff eating. They told us the kitchen had closed at 19.30. They checked and found our booking but said there was nothing they could do. Apologised but did not offer any compensation, even a drink. It was too late to go anywhere else. Will not go again.

A friendly, welcoming atmosphere every time me & my family visit. All the team are great with my 3 year old daughter when she is there & they make sure she is entertained! She’s particularly happy with the chefs when they make her ice cream exactly as she requests! Food portions are generous & there is a large variety of choice. Highly recommend this pub & I will continue to visit regularly!

Very disappointed. Booked table for 5 for mums 81st birthday. Waited to be seated. No greeting let alone smile & told where we couldn’t sit with puppy rather than where our reserved table was. Ordered 5 meals, received 4, staff not checking headcount to plates brought to table. When queried told we would have to wait for it to be cooked & paid for! No apology, no gesture of goodwill, no concern that 5th person would eat alone. 4 ate & we left. Not going back any time soon ……

We stopped in for dinner on the advice of a local while over from Australia. They fit us in despite it being a busy night. There were a few delays with the food but I can't fault the staff, they were amazing, kept us informed, looked after us and when the food came it was worth the slight delay. Great food and made all the better by the people working there. I wish we had obtained the name of the lady running the dining area as she was so accommodating and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Credit to the business. Would definitely visit again.

Ayla is always so friendly and welcoming. Menu has been updated and improved, I had chicken and avocado salad which was lovely. Others had roast dinners - potatoes were great, food always is good value. Have been dining in Alleyn's Head for years.

I have been attending this establishment for more than two decades. My initial visits began when I was employed nearby, and ever since, whenever I find myself in the vicinity, I eagerly anticipate stopping by or inviting a few companions along. The culinary experience consistently impresses me. The affordability of the dishes is never compromised, and the taste is always delightful. Throughout the entirety of my over 20-year patronage, I have never found a reason to voice any concerns or complaints regarding the quality of the food or the service. I would like to extend my utmost appreciation and admiration to the exceptional staff members, Joyce and Iyla. They have undoubtedly played an instrumental role in making my visits memorable and enjoyable.

Some of the staff unsure about menu- asking me if the 3 course menu was on today, ?I thought I was the customer lol. Punched the wrong thing, had to be refunded then pay again. Then when the waitress came to serve the food had asked “Have you already found the cutleries on the side (of the restaurant)?” as if we should already know where it is and that we are expected to get it for ourselves when no one really told us. Carrots are withered, broccolli tasted pfftt and blueberry compote on waffle tasted like Calpol.

Once again, cannot fault the service at the Alleyns Head, Rob and all his staff, Lewis, Ayla, Joyce (our waitress, who was superb) and Alexia always make us feel so welcome and special, the food is always first class (I have to mention the kitchen staff, Alex, Cleo, Josh and Jess). Really good value for money and a fantastic choice of food and drinks. Would highly recommend The Alleyns Head for any occasion or just for a drink in a very friendly atmosphere.

We held our Nans wake at the Alleyns yesterday, we were frequent visitors as she loved it there. She particularly loved the staff, they are always attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Visited yesterday, table of 12 for a family birthday. Ayla is always so friendly and welcoming - a real asset to the company. Food and drinks good value and presented well. Especially enjoyed the meat gravy and roast potatoes.

I had booked birthday party for 16 people on 28 November and visited two times prior to sort out seating arrangements. the first time the manager on duty was offhand and not helpful. The second time a different manager who was very helpful .On the night of the booking i arrived early only to find that the room had not been prepared an the manager on duty was the same as the first meeting. We had to arrange the seating arrangement ourselves with no assistance from any of the staff. At bill paying I brought the fact of the poor presentation to the manger whose attitude was so nonchalant and dismissive with the comment to the effect it was OK as you orgainsed it yourselves a response, ( A risk assessment not undertaken ) I suggest, was not appropriate and given my experience with him earlier makes me think he is not suitable for a hospitality career or needs more basic training. I very nearly did not tip but that affects the staff who did the work

This was the first time I’ve had a Sunday lunch at The Alleyns with some friends as I’ve recently moved to the area. The food was amazing. I had the roast beef it was hot, tasty and the quality was impeccable. I would highly recommend👍🏼

Fui con amigos hoy para celebrar un cumpleaños. . . el asado de carne asada que tuve hoy fue decepcionante ya que la comida no estaba muy caliente y la carne estaba dura apenas podía cortarla y otros que tenían carne de res tenían el mismo problema, el crumble y las natillas estaban muy escasas por el costo de los desiertos, ahora es de esperar un tamaño razonable, mi primera visita no puedo decir que me apresuraré a volver tristemente

Vinimos aquí hace un par de semanas y la comida era muy buena, así que pensamos que volveríamos con los niños. La comida de los niños sale cubierta de sal agregada y se pueden ver todos los cristales de sal en el plato. El servicio fue lento y la señora, que debe ser gerente, se quedó parada sin hacer mucho, pero cuando dijimos puede servirnos, tenemos una actitud que dice que sí, que voy. La comida para adultos era horrible normalmente. Cuando pides un sándwich de club, está ligeramente tostado, incluso si es pan o chapata, aparentemente debes pedir que esté ligeramente tostado, este lugar está bajando enormemente

We come here regularly to eat and drink, but this is the first time i've posted a review.The guys working here do a fantastic job. They have a large clientele of elderly people who visit, and i've always been so impressed with the way they look after and make them feel welcome. It's not something you see that often these days and it's really something that Rob and the team should be proud of.Well done guys, you do an amazing job!

Le recomendé este restaurante a mis amigos que estaban visitando Londres. Reservamos una mesa para el almuerzo del domingo ya que había estado allí muchas veces antes y pensé que estaba bien. Lamentablemente, nuestra experiencia de ayer ha cambiado de opinión. La comida principal era muy, muy pobre, la carne no estaba tan mal, pero las verduras y, en particular, las papas eran absolutamente repugnantes. ¡Quien los ponga en un plato debería avergonzarse de sí mismo! En mi opinión, las verduras se cocinaron el día anterior, no pude pasar mi cuchillo por la capa exterior de las papas asadas. No me quejé en ese momento porque estaba demasiado avergonzado para hacerlo frente a mis invitados. La característica de canje de Olny sobre el lugar era nuestra camarera que era absolutamente encantadora. Muy amable, divertida y servicial, fue una delicia. I booked a private area on a busy Sunday Lunch time in the run up to Christmas paying £16 a head for a two course meal for 18 teenage (16-18yrs) girls from the local rugby club... What could go wrong???Well. nothing actually. The main restaurant was hugely busy, as was the bar area, but the pre-ordered food, all came out correctly, as ordered and at the same time. Sensible gaps between the courses and staff came to ensure everything was delivered before disappearing. OK so they didn't have time to stand and chat, but to be fair, I'm surprised they had time to breathe and the food was outstanding for the money. Ember inns are not the gastro pub, fine dining establishments springing up all over the country, but the do offer hearty, well cooked and consistent food at very reasonable prices.18 teenagers fed, and 18 totally empty plates. Don't need to say more really.Thank you top the staff, we will be back if you'll have us

We were staying near Alleyns Head in West Dulwich and visited one late evening for dinner. The pub/eatery is quite large inside and also has outside eating. Kitchen was about to close but we were able to order several dishes. The grilled fillet of sea bass was awesome. Dish came with baby potatoes, asparagus and pesto sauce over the fish. Many of the other dishes looked just as good. Great selections of beer as well.I highly recommend this eatery, even if you have to take bus or rail from central London - it's only 15-20 minutes away.

Fantastic time had by all the family we had a big family get together, the children were so welcomed made us adults relax knowing they were welcomed. Food was amazing! My boy never eats a full meal but did here! Defo be back soon! Thanks to all the staff- amazing pub!

We had booked a private area for a party. We had pre-ordered our food from the 2 or 3 course menu. From the moment we stepped in, the lady behind the bar looked like she didn't want to be there. She barely spoke when serving, and if she couldn't hear, she grunted. If she was asked a question, she would give a killer stare and walk off without giving an answer. I was waiting to be served next and she just walked off leaving me standing there. From the offset, it was all quite awkward and uncomfortable.

After a previous good experience here we thought we would be on a winner after 3pm for a quick Sunday late lunch/early dinner with an almost empty car park and only one other couple seated in the otherwise empty restaurant area. A sharing platter starter turned up and was demolished quickly but then had to wait over an hour for sea bass that was so dried up and hard it had turned brown and fibrous instead of being white and juicy and was mostly inedible. Meanwhile the restaurant had filled right up with diners equally twiddling their thumbs, desperately trying to keep their kids amused, or playing games on their mobile phones. My husband prevented me complaining because he didn't want a scene. The excuse was a 'large party' had arrived just before us 'round the other side' but we did not see them.

After some dramas with organising a fairly big 85th birthday event, we had a lovely afternoon. Sonia, the waitress, was so helpful and genuinely friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The food was hot and fresh and we appreciated all of the effort the staff went to make it a special afternoon

Fuimos a tomar unas copas el fin de semana pasado y nos hicieron sentir que nos estaban echando unos 30 minutos antes de su hora de cierre real. No se solicitó el último pedido, era básicamente: "necesitas beber y marcharte". El personal del bar apenas puede molestarse en servirte.

I usually go to the rosendale which we both love, this time I fancied a change so thought we would try this place. Sadly it will be the last visit. The food was poor, tasted very bland and as if it was a microwave meal. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and received a normal chicken fillet burger, not just no buttermilk but no flavour whatsoever. My partner ordered the toad in the hole and was so disappointed he left the majority of it and was left with a bad stomach afterwards. The place looks nice and the service was average, only problem being the food.

Went with the better half for a beer and had some great entertainment from the local Morris men doing their stuff, great night and was really enjoyed by the lots of people there. Great to see traditional English entertainment, put a smile on everyone's face, great!

I am really sorry to write this bad review because when we visited the pub in May I wrote a good review the main complaint was my husband's meal he ordered half a roast chicken and chips the chicken was so small it was laughable my husband mentioned to the lady who collected our plates about how small the chicken was actually i am pretty sure you could not advertise it as half of a roast chicken we would love to know where the chickens are purchased from my husband did inform the bar lady about the tiny size of the chicken and she said that she would inform the chef i do hope he does take note it's such a shame because overall the pub is great i know it's a ember inn establishment and my husband is a shareholder .

Booked a table for 25 as a surprise birthday lunch for my partner and his twin brother. Things didn't go to plan, so we were not able to deliver the table decs. The staff were amazing, in particular Ayla, who rounded up all the decorations she could and put them up for us before we arrived. The manager was great, designated a separate area for us and made everything so easy.

Brilliant pub, amazing food and fantastic staff. A recent visit ended badly when my friend fell ill and collapsed in the restaurant while we was waiting for our food, the quick reaction of staff was amazing and thanks to their support, and care my friend made a quick recovery. We will be back again soon to enjoy the tasty food. Will add have been to this restaurant countless times and the food never fails to disappoint and they do the best brownies ever for dessert.

I held my late Mother’s wake here, and cannot thank Rob and his team enough. From the initial organising, to confirming details and set up for the day Rob made it stress free and a weight off my mind. Given his experience in dealing with this type of event, he had expertise and knowledge on the best set up and catering requirements... a massive help!

We went on Thursday 9th may for lunch the service from the young lady behind the was superb she was efficient friendly and she definitely knew what she was doing i must say these days that's very unusual in pubs she's a credit to the pub the food was lovely apart from my green beans which sorry weren't great but apart from that the fish belly pork were excellent and the pie we will definitely be visiting again and we recommend the pub

Went here for a meeting, where they opened up a little early for us. Service was nice and I got smarties with me tea which I felt was a nice touch.

Absolutely good chef, friendly staff and fantastic atmosphere! Food is freshly cooked and super tasty, waitress service 10 out of 10. It’s was very busy Sunday but nothing was a problem for them, great service, lovely smiles. Many thanks to everyone for making my Birthday lunch absolutely awesome.

Good friendly local, excellent menu & service, Food excellent value for money. Staff & "guvnor" a real asset & restaurant area still has waiter/waitress service

This is a very friendly pub with staff who are polite and ready to be of help whenever necessary.

Came here with my family and was a nice atmosphere they get a variety of ages young ones just enjoying a few drinks with friends and older ones just reading the paper while having a drink food quality is reasonable for price and staff are very helpful as my grandad got a roast dinner and they forgot the Yorkshire pudding so the waitress brought it out straight away and was very apologetic but we was very happy with our visit we will visit again also we would refer others to visit

..although not the nearest pub to home.

Mis amigos y yo visitamos el Alleyns Head para una cena de cumpleaños el sábado por la noche, después de haber estado muchas veces, no tenía ninguna expectativa con respecto a la comida, ya que nunca es excelente, pero como está en un lugar conveniente para todos, parece que siempre lo intentamos. Tal vez una vez al año para ver si hay alguna mejora. Sin embargo, el sábado por la noche fue espectacularmente malo incluso para los estándares habituales. Pedimos bebidas y un vaso de amigos olía y sabía a desinfectante, ella pidió que lo cambiaran y la camarera dijo que el vaso estaba limpio y que la limonada era el problema, así que Louise pidió una bebida diferente con coca cola como mezcladora. Sin embargo, otro miembro de nuestro grupo tenía un spritzer con limonada y eso estaba bien, así que ciertamente no era la limonada. Pedimos comida, llegó en un tiempo decente, pero la camarera se esforzó por identificar los platos que estaba sirviendo y no sabía qué era la mayoría. ! Los platos se dejaron en la mesa durante bastante tiempo después de que termináramos, a pesar de que el restaurante estaba vacío con solo nuestra mesa y 2 mujeres en otra mesa. Luego de que los platos se despejaron, esperamos pacientemente a que alguien nos preguntara si nos gustaría postres o algo más, después de 45 minutos de espera y no pudimos oírnos hablar ya que nos ahogó el sonido de 6 a 8 miembros de El personal charla en voz alta junto a la mesa a lo largo del área del bar. Finalmente, uno de nuestro grupo fue al bar para preguntar si podíamos pedir postres y una camarera muy hosca me dijo que alguien más estaba de guardia ahora que la otra persona había terminado. Finalmente pudimos terminar nuestra comida y luego nos dijeron que el área estaba cerrando y cuando queremos pagar para ir a la caja fuerte. Recibimos la cuenta y nos sentamos en otra parte del pub para terminar las bebidas y averiguar quién debía cada cosa y luego pagar individualmente nuestras tarjetas. Ese debería haber sido el final, ya que todos habíamos acordado que esta era la última vez que regresaríamos, sin embargo, la camarera se acercó a nuestra mesa varias veces diciéndonos que el pub cerraría pronto y podríamos terminar, pero aún no vamos. a cualquier otra mesa a pesar de que varios tenían personas sentadas en ellos. Es una pena, ya que es un edificio encantador en una excelente ubicación y con un buen personal y un menú decente bien cocinado, podría ser una gran ventaja para West Dulwich, pero desafortunadamente hemos tenido una o muchas malas experiencias aquí.
