Went here after having a carry out for the first time some weeks earlier at our sons house locally and had an excellent meal. What a menu, never seen such an extensive variety and you could go here every week and easily have something different - can't wait to return to try some other dishes that I've never seen before. Very good value too and generous portions.

Most excellent Glasgow southside Asian restaurant. Huge menu. Staff also pride themselves on making any dish you may desire. The restaurant is on Battlefield rd opposite Langside College at junction of Holmlea Rd..Tonight we had pakora mix ( 4 varieties of your own choice followed by Keema Lamb Masala( minced lamb ) and chicken Korma with pilau rice and Peshwari Nan. excellent, tasty and delicious. Thoroughly recommended. 😊😏 9/1/23 Visited tonight again with friend who had not been before Food was exquisite as usual. Chicken tikka on a bed of fried onions with Patia sauce accompaniment was very tasty. This is the perfect place for atmosphere for eating and conversing without any loud music or noise. 19/8/23 No changes. Usual standard of excellence. Tonight was a sharing experience. Pakora mix of Veg,Chicken, mushroom and cauliflower followed by Tandoori mixed platter of Lamb, chicken and King Prawn accompanied by pilau rice and Peshwari Nan. Another evening of c ulinary delights😊 24/12/23 The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and food was lovely as ever. Thank you Alishan. 20/7/24 Restaurant and food as excellent as ever.⁸.

Never fails to deliver, after almost forty years of coming to this institution on the south side of Glasgow yet again we get the best Indian food and a warm welcome akin to being one of the family. Chico welcomes everyone personally and is the perfect host, and his team ensured that we received the highest level of service. The mixed platter starter was delicious, and our main courses were full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Including drinks we had change out of £50 which for the quality and flavour is hard to beat. Always has been and ever will be my favourite Indian restaurant.

Well i thought i would try out this place for a takeaway before i would go and get a meal there sitting in. I ordered chicken curry, fried rice and nan bread. The chicken was breast and it came in a whole piece, not chopped which was fine but it was a bit tough. The curry was only warm, the rice was yellow basmati and didn’t work for fried- it was also cool. The nan bread was cold. I only live one street away so it should have been fine. I wont be going back. The picture i have included only shows half the rice. I did not finish the meal, it ended up in the bin. It was expensive for what it was as well.

We arrived promptly at 1450 for the 3 pm sitting only to be standing outside in the rain for 10 mins. This appeared to be because a number of people were waiting for their Carry outs and the vestibule is small . The food was good although two grumpy overstretched harassed waiters dealt with us. A lady was doing the drinks. The wait between courses was awful. Our grandchildren got a slice of turkey, some salad and a mountain of chips. For £17 ! Because of the long wait between courses the dessert wasn’t really offered unless you were really quick to ask. . I managed to get a coffee ( which was included in the price but only as I was quick as it was 1750 and next sitting was 6 pm. We came last year and it was so good. I felt they were understaffed and a bit greedy doing carry outs at the same time as serving us. The staff were obviously stretched , showing in there lack of enthusiasm. It was Christmas Day ! . We came last year as it was so good. Never again. I would not recommend Christmas dinner here ever. Total disappointment.

Been going to the Alishan the odd time over the decades, the plus side for my recent visit was the vast menu(so much to choose from), on the down side I thought my chefs special dish was overpriced at £15.95 especially when the rice was extra taking the total for my main course to nearly £19!!!But it tasted amazing.

I recently had the pleasure of dining with a friend here at The Alishan. We received a warm welcome by the owner on arrival. The establishment was small but cosy. The owner has been in business for 33 years. He and a young new waitress who had only been working there for two weeks. They were both very attentive without being overbearing, and injected humour into the conversation, which made my friend and I feel comfortable. The owner was happy to recommend dishes for me, from the menu, once preferences had been identified. All dishes ordered were very fresh and succulent, and incredibly tasty. Portion size was also generous and thus were suitably priced. The Alishan is well worth trying for those who have a penchant for Asian dining. It is my hope to return on my next visit up to Glasgow.

This experience was like meeting an old friend as i hadn't been to Alishan for quite some time. Situated on Battlefield Rd in the south side of Glasgow, this is still a very cosy and intimate dining experience. Pardon the pun but we had the full bhuna tonight. Started with big portions of Cauliflower Pakora and Veg Samosa which we shared. Then very generous portions of Lamb Mahknani and Lamb Jaipuri accompanied by 1 portion of Pilau rice which is enough for two and delicious Peshwari Nan Bread. I would like to make special mention of the tenderness of the Lamb. Cooked to perfection with mushrooms pepper and onions. Some Lamb dishes can be quite chewy and unpalatable. No such problem here. Absolutely no room for desert after such a wonderful feast so we finished ofc with Coffees. Staff were friendly and helpful always were. It was great to be back again. The complete experience cost £52 for two people. This was reasonable for the quality and quantity enjoyed. Thoroughly recommended for any special occasion or if fortunate enough, a romantic dinner.😊

This is possibly my closest Curry Shop and I had ready pretty good reviews, so thought we'd give it a try. It was a pretty dreich Glasgow night and they managed to squeeze us in. The place was rammed with families, friends, couples and big groups. The pakora to start with was very good. The main course of lamb bhuna was just about average.

Heard great things so went out of my way to try the place. I was really shocked at the quality of the Lamb. So much of it was so fatty and chewy that I really couldn't eat it. I would say the sauce was delicious which is why I have even given it a 2 rating. The garlic nan was absolutely sodden and by the time I got it home the bag was completely see through it was so over buttered. We all like a good bit of butter but the amount actually made the bread inedible. Really very disappointing all in all . Lastly I would mention that I had take out as I genuinely dont think any restaurant would serve this quality of lamb when you were actually still there to complain about it.

Their decorations are mind blowing. It's an annual tradition to visit in December. Fantastic staff and owners always have time for a chat (unless they're bowling!!!). Love it.

Have dined in and taken away from here a number of times and never been disappointed. Staff are friendly enough and service is reasonably quick. Christmas decorations need to be seen to be appreciated fully. Great wee place.

Great Indian! Easily the best in Glasgow. Owners are super friendly and happy to have you. Can't wait to go back and see the Christmas decorations.

Went with family. Food wasn't very good and Mango lassi wasn't sweet enough and rather lumpy. Wouldn't go back if I'm honest

After a meeting in a nearby pub, No.1 Chum (henceforward N1C) and I decided to check out the Alishan on our way home. After a very friendly (but not pushy) welcome from the owner, we ordered a couple of Cobra beers and studied the menu.Starters: I had a Chicken Tikka & Salad starter - generous, fresh, and just spicy enough - and N1C ordered Fish Pakora - again, delicately spiced, with a light, crisp batter.Verdict: 5 starsMains: I was in a tandoor mood, so went for the Tandoori Chicken - perfectly cooked, yummy, and very generous. So generous, in fact, that half of it went in a doggy bag for next day (doggy ain't getting ANY of it!). The dish came with a generous fruit&green salad, pulao rice (which we shared) , and a side of curry sauce which had a nice, slightly sweet, tang to it. N1C had Special Chicken Bhuna - the sauce was pleasantly light in texture and, again, had a faintly sweet edge to it. The lighter sauces may be down to the chef (who, the owner informed us, has been there for 20 years) being from Sri Lanka. We shared a gigantic Garlic Naan bread which soaked up the sauces wonderfully.Verdict: 5 starsDesserts: These were all variants from the Crolla Ice Cream catalogue - a very good make of ice cream, by the way. I went for the Coconut Ice Cream - lovely - while N1C settled for another beer.Verdict: Crolla makes great ice cream, so the 5 stars belong to Signor Crolla and Family!Total bill was £45.As mentioned above, the owner was a nice, friendly chap, and Carol Ann, our waitress, was efficient, warm, and cheerful. They made us feel very welcome indeed. To quote MacArthur: "I shall return!"

I have rediscovered this restaurant, well that's not quite true as I knew it as The Moti Mahal back in the day as a teenager I experienced my very first curry. The Alishan is a superb tandoori restaurant nestling in Battlefield on the south side of Glasgow. It was actually my son who sampled the cuisine there when he moved into the district and after he gave it a glowing recommendation I decided to try it out for myself and I was delighted to discover that it was every bit as good as he had reported. A very varied and extensive menu featuring old favourites and chefs specials. Well worth a visit. 10/10!

Really disappointing. I thought the reviews and the food would live up to the hype but I'm honestly confused. Everything was very greasy. We had the chicken pakora which was greasy and didn't taste of much. However, the quality of the chicken was good. The nann wasn't nice, bland and very doughy. The two curries both were chicken but had two different types of chicken? Curries were okay at best Would not return. We both rated it a 4/10. Very disappointing :(

We came across this restaurant by accident while looking for a place to eat, and what a blessing it was. The food was 10/10, best curry I ever had. The two ladies that were working that night were super lovely and helpful. Absolute 5 stars out of 5, and if I could give more I would. Will 1000% be coming back when we’re in Glasgow again.

I went with my family for breakfast and no doubt Paratha with Chana was too good. Recommend 100% Thank you Irram for great service.

Absolutely delicious food and great service. We ordered a range of dishes from kebabs to curry and all were super tasty. I really enjoyed the food and the service we received was top notch. The restaurant was busy but the waitress didn't miss a beat. I live in London but would go back to Glasgow just to eat here!
