Brilliant service, was well looked after. Food was delicious, butter chicken was devoured.

Initially it was quiet in the outdoor seating area, but it soon filled up when passersby saw and smelled the amazing food. How lovely to enjoy a curry lunch in the Glasgow subshine! A great spot for people watching while you eat and drink too.

Amazing food! I got the chicken biryani and aloo paratha. Both were delicious and had so much flavor. Plenty of food and the service was incredible!

There are so many indian restaurants in Glasgow's Merchant City. A hard choice as most of them are very good. I can add another to the list now. This was my first visit to the excellent "charcoals" in Trongate. I am sure the owners must have been pleased to see our party of 9 on a quiet and freezing Tuesday night as their bill was £265. The food was excellent.Many restaurants have started skimping or charging for accompanying dips etc for poppadums and pakora starters.Not the case at charcoals.Everything was presented as you would wish it to be.Waiters were efficient and friendly.Presentation and quality of food was first class There were too many dishes to comment on in detail. (See pics) My Keema Aloo was very tasty with whole baby potatoes A very pleasant dining experience. Thanks to all those involved who made it so. On 16th March i was privileged to return to this wonderful restaurant to play a gig in aid of The Scottish Transplant Association. Over 80 people were served amazing food and now i am pleased to report that charcoal has once again become an award winning Restaurant. Congratulations Muhammed and all the staff at Charcoals.🤗

In with my partner on sat, server was too quick getting us to choose from the menu it wasnt busy ! Stater was very nice chicken parkora.My good lady had chicken curry to hot. I had the lamb boona Unfortunately wasn't great. Took some of it home feeling maybe bit heavy with a pint of corbra. Took it home wish I hadn't. Was sick a few times the next day. Have been many times before and never have had a bad curry. Maybe wee were unlucky one bad meal dosent mean a bad restaurant.

Once again another great visit to Charcoals. Lunch with retired Firefighters was excellent. Great choice on menu, good value and excellent service. It's our go to place now when we meet up. It recently was awarded the best in Glasgow award and that speaks for itself. Give it a try it won't disappoint.

Muhammad has severed me and and my team twice now in two years both times after traveling from Northampton and despite being a year apart still remembers us lovely guy very polite very good food both times have been more empty then I’d like to have seen defo worth a check out, even gave us drinks for the the road! Terrible service, the guy was very rude to us, we came in for drinks and told us we had to order food too, so we did then other tables came in after us and got to just order drinks.the food was under cooked and awful. Will not be back.

Came back for the third time for their unique, fragrant and tasty biryani, and this time was surprised with appetisers on the house, lovely service and great vibes. Definitely coming back in again.

Large portions, fast and pleasant service.

We stumbled across this restaurant in Glasgow city centre and decided to give it a shot. Service was excellent and we were given three complimentary starters. I had the pre theatre at £14.95 and my wife had A La Carte. All of the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Recommended

What a gem of a place. The staff are so attentive and lovely. The food was amazing! We had a mix of the lunchtime and a la carte menu. £60 for 3 eating with drink. Fantastic food at a good price. Highly recommend.

Visited here for lunch today (first time) and must say this was possibly the best Indian I have tried! The chicken was so soft and loads of flavour. Great price also! Will definitely be back!

I am Asian I have been dining the restaurant couple years ago we have always been treated like king and food is out of the world excellent service provided

I had a disappointing experience at Charcoal Restaurant in Glasgow. As an Asian tourist, I couldn't help but notice a stark difference in the way service was provided. While European and British customers around me were being attended to frequently—staff checking on them every minute—I was left waiting for basic items like bread, which took an unreasonably long time to arrive. This unequal treatment made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I expected the same level of courtesy and attention as any other guest, but unfortunately, that was not the case here. I do not recommend this restaurant to fellow Asian visitors, especially if you value being treated with fairness and respect. I sincerely hope the management reflects on this and ensures equal service for all in the future.

This is my second visit here in the last week. Absolutely amazing Indian restaurant. Top notch food and very attentive staff. We got to sample some complimentary starters which were very much appreciated! We have dined her on many occasions over the past decade and will continue to do so due to the quality of cuisine and service. Highly recommended.

We have been eating here for years now and whether or not it’s sitting in or take away the food that you will receive, is in our opinion the best and tastiest food in Glasgow. The service is very warm and welcoming and Muhammad and the team can’t do enough for you. Over and above what you will expect from any restaurant - no wonder they have so many awards! Muhammad is a gentleman, who donates so much food for the homeless in Glasgow. The food he sells is fabulous, and very reasonably priced. The service is second to none. Scott and Kasia x

We had a very disappointing experience, as a brown couple in a Pakistani restaurant, we felt clearly excluded. The staff member(think was a manager) took selfies with every table (all white guests) for promotions—except ours. We noticed it. It was clearly a discrimination. Whether it was conscious or not, the message was clear: we weren't "marketable" enough for their social feed.

The food tastes really well and the customer service is excellent. Thanks To Mr Ali for treating us really well.

It was an hour and a half late. You didn't send a driver to the restaurant on time and food arrived cold and poppadoms in pieces. I used a £25 voucher with you. I would expect that back.

Pre-order for delivery at 18.15 (order placed at 17.37 , accepted by the restaurant at 17.38) Delivery came TWO HOURS LATE (!) at 20.07. No contact from anyone. If I knew it's going to be THIS LATE, I could order from elsewhere. Food- onions mostly.

Excellent! Most flavorful makhani I have found yet in the British Isles.

The food was out of this world, so tender and flavourful! However, what really elevated the experience was the service. We were served by Muhammad Sultan and he made us feel right at home. Can’t wait to come back and would recommend to anyone!

A wonderful meal to celebrate my birthday. Service was faultless from Ali & all the staff who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit. 5 stars.

Butter chicken was amazing and soft fluffy rice. The lamb tikka starter was quite tough but still tasty. Nan was disappointingly small but again still tasty. Would order from charcoals again, maybe just not the lamb starter.

Really enjoyed the meal and the hospitality at Charcoals. I’ll return next time I’m in Glasgow.

Been coming here for years as it is my dad’s favourite restaurant. Five-star hospitality as usual - food and service is always spot on.

The service was very bad, we asked for recommendations, but they had no intention of advising us. In addition, the food was delicious, however it was very bad for us.

Went here for lunch with a friend and the value for money on the lunch menu is second to none. Good portion sizes, the owner was very friendly and even gave us some extra sides/dips. The food here is always extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend.

We dined in on short notice and was able to be seated. The service was brilliant could not fault the place at all and staff were very attentive, the food also was exceptional everything we had to eat was lovely and we got full pretty quick and the portion sizes also were really good, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone

Wow. My new favourite Indian Restaurant. The taste was awesome and the portions big. Doggy bag taken home for tomorrow's dinner and I am looking forward to it already. The poppadoms are very tasty, loads of spiced onions. Chicken Tikka with hot sauce mmm. The Peshwari Nan is up there with the best.

I had lamb tikka at this restaurant, and the quality was extremely poor. The meat tasted more like beef than lamb—elastic and old. When I asked one of the staff about it, he replied very rudely and simply said, “Okay.” On top of that, the smoke inside the restaurant was unbearable. It seemed like their ventilation wasn’t working properly, as all the kitchen smoke was coming directly into the dining area. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

Don’t be fooled by the Christmas lunch sign outside that price is just to get you in , it’s a different price inside,we were there so decided to give it a try,got our starters on two chipped plates, curry was very bland .

Went on Saturday 07/12/24.hadnt booked Waiters manner was impatient and rude Asked for jug of water he said they didn't do jugs of water .got glasses instead. We wanted to pay separately for food again he seemed irrated told us 1 of us to pay and settle up with the other .left feeling disappointed 😞 it was like waiter had pmt Think he should have stayed in bed 🛌.

It’s one of the best Indian restaurants in Glasgow , I have been going in here since the old restaurant before they moved here , Service is always first class and the waiters are brilliant , Food is amazing , They always give you extra and my G/F birthday . Ali the manager gave her a bottle of wine free , Always go back

Charcoals has been a go-to over several years now from when it was just a little narrow restaurant for a quick and cheap lunch time deal into a bigger, lovely restaurant. The service is top notch. Ali and the team are always on the ball and very attentive. Never a problem had. The food is delicious! Do yourself a favour and get the vegetable pakora - it’s melt in the mouth stuff. Terrific. So is the chicken pakora. Even little things like the sauces, the pickled chutney, spiced onions etc. it’s all very much on point! The Naan breads are more round and thick, different to what you’re maybe used to in other restaurants but they’re excellent whether it be plain, garlic or peshwari (peshwari btw! :-P) Even the little spicy one they sometimes kindly give you on the house is just as good. The curries are always great. The South Indian garlic chilli chicken was a little more tomato-ey in taste and texture than it usually is but still thoroughly enjoyable. Lamb Bhoona, Butter Chicken, Jaipuri, Rogan Josh - whatever it is, you will not be disappointed.

Went specifically to this restaurant as I had it recommended as it has gluten free options. The majority of the menu is gluten free and the staff were so helpful. We hadn't ordered starters but got gf veg pakora to try and it was delicious, the batter was light and filling was lovely. I had fish tandoori which was filled with flavour. It was a large portion and I was gutted I couldn't finish it all! They also serve gluten free chapatis which I was excited about and they didn't disappoint. They aren't large so order 2! Would love to come back to try more on the menu.

I’ve been to Charcoals a few times now, and every visit has been a great experience. The staff are always friendly and attentive, making you feel welcomed right from the start. What really stands out, though, is the food. It’s consistently exceptional—every dish is full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Whether you’re trying something new or sticking with a favorite, the quality never wavers. I’ll definitely be returning soon and would highly recommend this place to anyone who has the opportunity to visit. You won’t be disappointed!

Food is quite spicy for westeners that are not used to spicy food. Or in other words, its perfect authentic food for starting into indian cuisine.

Where do I even begin? It’s one of the best experiences we had. The staff are super attentive, caring, and considerate. They anticipated our needs even before we asked. The portions of food are more than generous, we can eat this meal many times! Highly recommended for a cozy meal with loved ones :)

The best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Incredible atmosphere. Super comfortable and yet stylish booth like seating, bright clean. Absolutely amazing staff, super professional and friendly and waiting on your every need. Bringing dishes at perfect timing. Never had to wait. The food was simply divine. Everything from starter of poppadams with such incredible selection of sauces and chutneys some of which I’ve never tried before, simply an amazing culinary experience. Everything was just absolutely delicious and my personal favorite was the chicken vindaloo with garlic naan. Amazing place and we will keep coming back. Also there’s a very convenient parking building just around the corner.

Karen and I recently dined at Charcoal, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food, service, and ambiance were exceptional. Muhammad Sultan, also known as Ali, the manager, provided service that exceeded our expectations. We ordered the following dishes: Chicken Pakora Onion Bhaji (On the house from the Charcoal team) Chicken Tikka Tandoori Special Dum Biryani with Medium Curry Sauce Naan Bread Cobra beer The Chicken Tikka Tandoori was perfectly charred, and the meat was incredibly succulent. The Chicken Pakora stood out as it was not overly battered; instead, it featured a light, crisp homemade batter that was delightful. The Dum Biryani was the star of the show, offering a generous portion that provided excellent value for money. Karen was particularly impressed with the Naan Bread, declaring it one of the best she has ever tasted and stating she would return just for that! We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary Onion Bhaji, which was crispy on the outside and wonderfully soft inside—a thoughtful gesture from Ali and the team. To complement our meal, I enjoyed a large bottle of Cobra beer, which was the perfect choice. Fair warning, the food does pack some heat, so be ready for a spicy treat—haha! Overall, it has been some time since we’ve had such excellent Indian food. We took our time and felt well looked after by the attentive staff. We highly recommend Charcoal to anyone in town craving Indian cuisine. Do stop by and experience this wonderful establishment for yourself!

This was my first time to eat from Charcoals. The food was good but the meal I ordered didn’t taste anything like what I’m used to have. Rogan Josh is usually spicier and has a strong distinguished flavour. Overall I’ll give the food experience 7/10 I was just not happy with one thing there. As soon as I stepped in and asked for a table, I was told that they’ll need the table back in 50 mins. I’ve never came across such a think before unless if it’s a place where you have to pre-book a table and there’s a long waiting list. There were only 3 occupied tables when I arrived and they all left before finishing my meals. It might be a thing there, maybe to limit your stay, but I think it should only happen in busy hours.

Great fresh food. The chicken was possibly a little pink? Great daal. A bit more expensive than other places. Good overall.

Got a curry to takeaway it was the worst curry I have ever had it was like drinking oil and the samosas was not what she ordered it had undercooked chock pees and no chijen in it again coverd in oil The chips was soggy and undercooked avoid or go if you like oil for a curry
