Used to absolutely love this place due to their extensive vegan menu - korma, chasni, vegan chkn pakora. They've done a complete u-turn and do barely any options now. Totally backwards in 2025. We visited here and ordered collections fortnightly but no longer have any options we like. Poor decision.

Found this place by accident on a recent trip to Glasgow, we noticed a large vegan section on the menu in the window and decided to give it a try. It was delicious! We had tofu saag, Ceylonese ch*cken korma and a garlic naan. The korma in particular was a real treat, as I haven't had a restaurant korma in about 9 years, and it was nice to have the option of a meat sub rather than just mixed veg. Everything was really tasty, and I'm hoping to go back next time we're in Glasgow. Portion sizes I thought were perfect, and the service was great. Thanks!

The food was absolutely delicious, as always—perfect for a spontaneous dinner on Ashton Lane. Our server, Emily, was incredibly attentive and genuinely warm throughout our visit. In a great position in the West End of Glasgow, was really looking forward to this. The poppadoms and chutney tray were great apart from the riata replacing the customary mint sauce. Special mention though to the hot pickle which was sublime. Starters of haggis pakoras (!) turned up before we finished the poppadoms. It was huge but lacked taste - not sure how. Main course was a disaster - the pilau rice seemed just boiled rice with some saffron. Then opted for the Ashroka curry "the original which the Ashtoka empire was born". Supposedly chicken tikka (it wasn't) it had a watery fairly tasteless sauce. Didn't have another dish to try so can't comment on the others!

Pakora was good. Unfortunately the Rogan Josh tasted nothing like it should ( reference to a dozen other Indian restaurants in Glasgow). the sauce was just a gooey non- descript mess. First time eating in Ashoka West End. My wife had haggis pakora to start which was a large portion, which she enjoyed. I had allo tikki which were nice but a bit greasy. I had chicken tikka biriani which was nice but a bit too spicy, had I known i would have asked for it milder. My wife had kashmir korma chicken tikka with jeera rice which she enjoyed. Both dishes had loads on chicken. We couldn't finish our mains so took leftovers home. Nice friendly staff. Would recommend restaurant.

Had been looking forward to trying Ashoka as they offer an extensive vegan menu - we notified floor staff when we were sat that we would be ordering from it specifically. All the dishes that arrived were correct except the korma that my partner ordered; this resulted in them unknowingly consuming meat for the first time in close to 10 years. We notified staff who apologised and replaced the dish, but the gravity of the situation was seemingly overlooked. I had to seek out management to privately explain how this had caused my partner distress and that we wouldn’t continue with our meal as the ordeal was incredibly off putting. Resolution was poor, there was no offer to comp the bill, the main dishes were only removed from the bill as I stated I would not be happy to pay for them as we had not eaten. Having been in the restaurant business for over a decade I was quite appalled at the blasé manner in which the situation was handled and the lacklustre apology we were given. Would not return.

So I went today to order take way order. The guy who took my order is rude. He had no respect towards me. The way he treated me is very rude and worst. I said I just came to order since he knew I’m from india by his own judgment he doesn’t respected me. He doesn’t said please come this side instead come this side in ordering tone. As though I’m going to not pay for my food. Not even smiled, good hospitality needs smile and warmth welcome. Coming to food, ordered biriyani got pulao with some gravy. You customised it based on this location is acceptable but ruining the taste of biriyani completely and calling it biriyani is sin. You simply put peas and some masala and not even long grain basmati sauted and added chicken then naming it as chicken biriyani. The sauce is just tomato paste as usual all Indian restaurants provide here. Who give sauce to biriyani ? Don’t name it biriyani and sell or have customised menu for Indians afterall please show respect towards cuisine.

Don't even bother. Sat in the upstairs of the restaurant which gives off fast food/cafe vibes, servers running in and out of the kitchen with home deliveries (clearly they prioritise them over sit in customers), could also see there was tension with the manager and a staff member I believe. 40-50 minute wait on starters and it only got worse when the mains came out and every single one of my dishes had hair in them. We walked in to see a table behind us left all of their drinks sitting because they clearly didn't like the wait either, wish I just done the same as them.

Maybe I chose boring dishes, but the Chicken Makhani Masala had a bit of a cheap tomato soupy flavour to it - wouldn’t recommend at all. The Saag Paneer wasn’t brilliant either. The best part was the pilau rice! The portion size and size of naan is good, so it has that going for it. I can only sum it up by saying that I’m not looking forward to having leftovers :( Also for near £30 you should really be throwing in a couple free poppadoms, they shouldn’t be a pound a pop!!!

Been here on numerous occasions and absolutely no complaints. We normally go at 4.30pm and get the small plate menu which is available daily from 12-5pm. However on this occasion we were given the a la carte menu, when we asked for the small plate menu, we were told it had to ordered at 4pm, I politely advised the staff member that they should alter their website to say that as when we made the booking we were advised that we could get the small plate menu. We went ahead and ordered from the main menu. Pakora arrived 5 pieces (£5.50), main course was nice. On finishing our meal a waiter promptly arrived and cleared our table,we were not offered a sweet menu or coffee/tea, As we were settling our bill, we noticed 2 waiters standing quite close on either side of our table and one waiter standing at the exit door,as we left the table one of the waiters proceeded to lift the payment then nodded to the waiter at the exit door who then moved away from the door and didn't even acknowledge us. This was not a pleasant experience for my colleague and I hence the poor rating.

We used Ashoka Ashton Lane as we had certain dietary requirements gluten free and vegan. But our last 3 or 4 Indian takeaways from here have been totally different to the previous one before it looked different and tasted different. From a restaurant you'd expect them to be working from a specific set of ingredients for each dish, but apparently not here, they seem to just wing it as they go. So if you're looking to be surprised by how your dish will look and taste then this is your place, it certainly won't be the same as last time. So we're finished with Ashoka and will try some places else in the West end.

We ordered South Indian garlic chilli lamb and creamy chicken jalfrezi with a giant naan and a side of pilau and mushroom rice. The portions were excellent and beautifully presented we are all so full. The curry was to die for. The meat was cooked to perfection. The South Indian garlic chilli is spicy but my partner and I love our spice so it was ideal for us. We finished the meal with espresso which was also excellent. The service was outstanding, we were served by Chaitali and her male colleague (who we unfortunately never got the name of) and they were both so happy to explain the items on the menu and serve us with a lovely smile. Food was delicious and well-priced. Service excellent, restaurant feels really good. The chicken tikka Masala was nice, but could be a lot more fragrant and generous with herbs.

One of my favourite Indian restaurants, it easily makes it into my top 5 favourites for food. Always have a lovely meal in the restaurant and I also use it for carry out meals which are also excellent. Staff are very helpful and always cheerful.

Frequent Indian restaurants in Philadelphia, PA, USA and this establishment was equally as good, if not better. There were five of us and the variety of food orders ranged from Butter Chicken to mixed Kabobs! The portions are large and the bread was delicious. Recommend this place completely!
