Tonight we had a night out with my colleges finally and we were so happy going out after 12 hours shift. We were about qp of us and met just after 8 pm (after shift) one of my colleagues haven't had a chance to grab some food and got 2 glass of cider at the pub when she suddenly felt sick and gone to the toilet to easy herself up. We were all cool and enjoying our night without being loud or making any issues. When my colleague came back from the toilet the pub manager came to us and loudly told my colleague off and to go home immediately. Honestly I felt so bad and didn't really get why someone needs to go home after throwing up IN THE TOILET. Tryed to talk to the manager lady but she kept telling her to leave. Myself I didn't feel all this act was right and felt that I don't wanna go back anymore because if u feel sick they just chuck you out without even asking you if you are ok.. I'm really disappointed!!!! We are in the pub drinking their drinks and once u get sick you have to leave?? What kind of treatment is it?? We have been to the pub many times but never had this treatment and also have to meantion we left lots of many there drinking.. Truly disappointed! To the lady who is the 'pub manager' would like to ask to be more human next time and stop acting inasent.. I believe this place used to have an other management team but after renovating things has changed.. WRONG DECISION!

The Manager is one of the most rude guys I have ever met. We bought drinks and decided to chat for a while, he walk up to us and asked if we’re not buying drink again we should walk out, we mentioned, we just had 4 drinks ( 2 Guiness and 2 Fosters) and waiting for next round , but he was so rude. We just went for our last drink after his encounter and just left. My worst ever experience in London.

Popped out for a pint and it was a decent ‘football’ themed pub. It’s obviously been done out recently and it’s been done to a decent standard. Staff friendly and as it’s by the train station it’s in a decent location. Good choice of draught as well.

Being new to the area, I started to go to this pub after seeing the food reviews, but was disappointed that Ruby Murray have left this place so there's no longer curry available. The first few times I went there it was quite good for the football, but I've realised that this is more of a Pool Pub than a football one as I've been to some big games like Spurs vs Dortmund and it was very disappointing. Last visit for me on Thursday broke 2 cardinal rules. I was waiting at the bar for 10 minutes whilst the lone barmaid was outside the front of the pub smoking and chatting, oblivious to the customer waiting to be served. When she finally came back, she served the 4 'locals' before me even though I was first, so than was another few minutes. I won't be going back there, which is a shame as the TVs aren't too bad. Will see my football at the Toby Grill now or look into joining the Social Club, which I've heard good things about.

We were surprised and delighted to find a pub that offered Indian food in Borehamwood High Street during a recent visit. Run as separate businesses the Alfred Arms was warm and friendly with a good choice of beers and Ruby's Murray food was just GREAT! Easily some of the best most mouth-watering Indian food I've ever tasted (and that includes some v. expensive big city restaurants). The chicken Hariali was spicy and fresh - great with cold lager - and something I will be coming back for next time I'm in the area. The owner said he was aiming to provide high quality individual food that you wouldn't find any where else - he has really succeeded. Give this place a try if your in the area. Brian S, Leeds

Went here on Sunday night after watching Manchester City at Wembley and so glad we tried it. I had the sticky chicken wings for starters, one word - amazing! My partner had the chicken chaat puri and he said that was excellent. We had chicken tikka jalfrezi and chicken madras, they were both super tasty and fresh, one of the best curries I have had for a long time including the ones I have had at the Curry Mile in Rusholme. The owner was very friendly and was telling us about his plans for the future of his restaurant. We wish him the best. With regards to the pub itself, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, nice choice of beers and ciders and all reasonably priced.

Under new management, and now called Ruby’s Murray, the Indian restaurant at this local pub does outstanding takeaway. Packed full of spice, and not overboard on the chilli heat, there are layers and layers of delicious flavour. We ordered a couple of the specials. All the meat was beautifully tender and the food wasn’t too greasy, as many indian takeaways can be. Highly recommended, the service was great and the delivery was speedy. The meal was not of a standard i expect from an Indian restaurant it tasted as though it had been bought and heated up from a supermarket which explained why it was edible. I small piece of plastic on plate confirmed this thought for us. its a shame because the pub is a clean friendly place.

We went into this establishment for a curry having just come out of our visit to Elstree studios. From the Menu outside we thought it wa s a pub that had been converted into an Indian restaurant. However on entering we found it was very much still a pub with , decent beer and had a live band on that night. The pub obviously has an arrangement with the Indian Takawy place Mehmsahbs which operates upstairs. You order drinks as usual at the bar, but the girl behind the bar called down someone from the takeaway for our curry order . You pay him rather than the pub for your food and can eat it in the pub, which was great especially as the Poppadoms, Balti and Jalfrezi we ordered were really the best we had eaten outside of Birmingham where we live. A good choice on our part.

I often frequent The Alfred Arms. It's almost a guilty pleasure of mine. Living relatively nearby it falls into under the 'comfort establishment' category; in my mind it's the perfect place to enjoy a swift half with friends after a bad day at work, before trundling back to my residence.Saying that, I've never opted to dine at The Alfred Arms - I'm usual a little À la carte in dinning. Praise me with a Deconstructed Oyster Rockefeller and I'm happy as Larry. This all changed last night though, when I ordered the 'Weeping Tiger' (with Rice, noodles can get a little messy). Soon enough out came one of the team with a sizzling delight - filling the room with authentic aromatic Thai aromas. The sizzle is all well and good, but would it please my pallet? Picking up the knife I sliced my way through the medium steak in a way that one can only compare to a Marks and Spencer's advert. Now, Knifes are a big plot-twister in my world. All too often I find myself at a sterling airside lounge, sat on leather throne (real, not faux), with a aesthetically pleasing delicacy in front of me. I say aesthetically for a reason - I'm never able to taste these dishes due to the abhorrent knife that I'm provided with, which is blunter than one found in a child's play set. The knife in The Alfred Arms was diamond sharp, however, I digress.Back at the table, combing a wafer of steak, some rice, and authentic Thai vegetables (I've even heard whispers that they fly them in, direct from sustainable fair trade Thai farms) on my fork, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste explosion that rippled through my body. The meal was delicious, and exceeded every expectation that I had.Reading similar reviews to mine, I can agree that this is a hidden gem, and as close as you'll get to Thailand this side of Radlett. I never usually like restaurant staff, they're so over what they're doing. The team at Thai Wan were different though - I even entertained a chat with them. One final comment from myself is regarding the 'British Menu'. In my view, anyone that opts for a quarter pounder with cheese may as well be sat in McDonald's, naively moaning about their bank balance, despite voting for Brexit. For heavens sake man, find some inspiration in your life and enjoy foods that are *so* much better than that crap you usually eat from Iceland's.All in all: ดีเยี่ยม!

Went into Thai Wan for a quick lunch . The chef there is very talented in creating an authentic thai experience. Service was quick and they did not hold back on the chilli when asked for it to be done very spicy which was quite refreshing. The pad thai was delicious and banana fritter dessert tasty and generous. A fantastic experience ! The only thing missing was perhaps an injection of modernity and light to add to the ambience as the restaurant is located in a pub . Nevertheless this certainly does not detract from the quality of the food . Well worth a visit.

As an elderly couple, we booked here for five on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews to meet friends last seen 50 years ago and 250 miles away. When we turned up, the table was set up in front of the large screen tv, with a circular arrangement round the windows of young men watching football on the tv. The sound was on loud as there was so much noise from these supporters. We would also have been part of their amusement as well as what they were shouting about on the tv. My tinnitus and partial deafness would have meant I would not have heard a word of what my companions were saying. At least the publican was understanding that we simply could not cope with the noise and we didn't even mention how the table had been set up in front of the tv. Had to find somewhere else to go. It would have helped if this live tv event had been explained when booking and that we were to be the centre attraction underneath the tv.

We went as a group to try the Thai food, as we saw that it had great reviews. Not that it was a negative, but no parking, so had to drive up the high street and found a multi storey car park, the bonus was it was free to park there after 18.30! So aprox five minutes walk later, we arrived in the Alfred Arms, we were a little surprised at the surroundings, but thought as we're here we may as well stay and eat. I have to say that we're glad that we did, as the food was excellent, from service, presentation, and importantly taste! At a friend's recommendation, we came for an early dinner this past Saturday. I eat a lot of Thai food, and the Thai dishes we had were superb. The Pad Kra Prow Prawns (medium heat) had juicy prawns, delicately prepared vegetables and a good spicy kick without being overpowering, and the Beef Massaman Curry was equally generous in flavour and portion size. Both came with steamed jasmine rice. The service was attentive, friendly and quick. The bill came to just under £17.00, which is excellent value. The only downside was the venue and ambiance, which as a town-centre local pub is set up primarily for drinkers and football/music entertainment so it was noisy and the décor rather dark and unwelcoming. With food this good, however, it's definitely worth braving it! Even better, I think the chef deserves to set up his/her own restaurant.

The weeping tiger dish was delicious and the beef pieces were succulent and tender. The Pad Thai wasn't the best that we have had but it was fresh and yummy! I was saddened to hear that the restaurant is struggling to keep afloat due to lack of regular footfall, perhaps the marketing of this restaurant should be reviewed, as to anyone walking or driving down the High Street, you wouldn't know it was there! All the bar staff and waitresses were really friendly and couldn't have been nicer. Food was very reasonably priced about £8 for a mains. It is a pub first and a restaurant second. Not exactly posh but very accessible. Beer is reasonably priced as well about £3.30 (Oct 2015) for lager.

Hidden away in this pub is a surprising find. A gem of a restaurant where the staff are friendly and the food is really good. We heard about the Thai restaurant with an usual location from a work colleague. Don't be put off by the venue. The food is authentic and very good indeed. It is excellent value for money. We wish the restaurant a lot of success and just hope that it's location doesn't stay a secret for too long as they deserve to do well.

I have eaten here twice with my parents and have to say that the food and service have been superb on both occasions. It would be difficult to find a Thai restaurant of this quality in central London! The staff are lovely as well. My Mum is in a wheelchair and the staff bent their knees in order to talk to her directly rather than talking over her head or to someone else in the party as can often happen in less enlightened and friendly establishments. All in all a brilliant place deserving of much success!

In the area on business and needed somewhere decent for my veggie colleague. Checked trip advisor and found this gem. Decent beer, fantastic food, fresh with loads of choice. Can't comment on the couple of poor takeaway reviews, but clearly takeaway is never gonna be the same experience as eat in. Great duck rolls for starters, don't miss the freshly made chilli prawn crackers with dipping sauce. And best pineapple fritter ever! Will definitely be back to try some other options next time we're down. Parking available in some residential streets 2 mins to the north.

Came across the Thai food served here after scouring trip advisor for good places to eat in London and also in Borehamwood as that's where I was staying.Ate here twice during my stay with my boyfriend, came the Friday night for dinner and we deliberately stayed in the hotel until check out time instead of heading into London for the last few hours before our train so we could have lunch here before catching out train. On the Friday I ordered a Chicken Jungle Curry, and as I believe someone else said in a review, it could definitely clear a cold! It was delicious but in a way I didn't enjoy it? The curry was much more like a soup, I was expecting a thick, creamy sauce, not a watery broth, but the flavours were wonderful and the Jasmine rice was perfect. My boyfriend ordered the "Weeping Tiger" which came served on a hot plate that was sizzling so loud and producing so much steam the entire pub was watching! He thoroughly enjoyed it! On the Monday we ordered sesame prawn toast with a hot chilli sauce to share that was gorgeous, and thinking about it is making me want a plate of it!I wasn't very hungry so I ordered a simple chicken fried rice which was divine, and like all the dishes we had came with a salad. My boyfriend ordered a Thai Red beef curry which I tasted and was beautiful! The meals range from £6.95-£8.50 with the most expensive thing on the menu being the sharing platter for 2 at £12.50 (which we never got but really want to go back and try!)I almost always stay in Borehamwood when visiting London but even if I'm not staying there I will definitely take a trip through to visit the Alfred Arms and eat in Thai Wan again!

We went to the Alfred Arms for a quick drink before looking for a place to eat. We saw the menu on the table and decided to give it a try. We were shocked at the quality of the food and service. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, superb for the price.

This is not a restaurant, but Thai food served within the pub by a contract caterer. We enjoyed an excellent Thai meal there last Friday evening. Despite the pub being packed, and profuse apologies for the time it would take to provide our food, we did not have to wait long and it was excellent. The menu is extensive, servings generous and the price is very reasonable making excellent value for money. We would certainly go back again when we're next in the area.

The service was excellent both in bar and Thai section of Pub. Drinks were reasonably priced, and promptly served. I was with a party of 4, Staff very attentive, starters out of this world , Thai fishcakes, Prawn tempura and duck roles, the freshest of vegetables, full flavours and a feast for the eyes. Mains I had Beef jungle curry with rice, the hot melange of this exotic curry help clear the cobwebs of a cold I had all week, therapeutic and enjoyable both at the same time, all presented and served speedily, a friend had a sizzling weeping tiger steak curry, the accompanying sauce was superb in both richness , depth and heat. Finally dessert was a brilliant presentation of pineapple and banana fritters with ice cream, a work of art in itself, it was a pity to eat it but it was enjoyed tremendously. I cannot praise the quality and inexpensive nature of this meal enough, next time I visit I will be lucky to get a seat as I imagine when word gets out, people will be queuing round the block for this dining experience.

I have been here twice. First time in a late Saturday afternoon and it just all felt a bit "ghetto". Although it seemed they have spent a fair amount of money on decorating it, it is still a loud boozer with not so charming patrons. But I put this down to it being a Saturday and left, quite quickly with the boyff. Do note that I often go to the pub to watch the football and rugby so I am not being a princess.I went back a week later with my boyff and another couple for some drinks. The brash and hobby barmaid to the thug types hanging around outside, means that I am sure I won't be bothering to go back, no matter how great their sports coverage is.It's rough. Good for sports on TV though. Wouldn't want to hang around here after dark though.

Really enjoyed visiting the Alfred Arms, the staff made us feel very welcome, and the atmosphere was just right for relaxing after a hard day in the office! My second visit this month and the quality and service have been second to none! Have eaten both 'Chefs Special dishes' which were extremely tasty. My favourite dish and the one I'm recommending was the 'Weeping Tiger', which gave a number of taste sensations and a nice little kick!I would recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone who loves Thai food, and anyone wondering what authentic thai food tastes like! Very generous portions and excellent value for money!

Thank goodness my brother visiting from the US unearthed the 'excellent' reviews for this Thai food kitchen which opened two months ago in the Alfred Arms pub. The dishes arrived looking very fresh and appetising, they were absolutely delicious, made to order and not pre cooked and re heated. Definitely 'real' cooking, and it certainly is made and presented with heart and soul by two extremely nice Thai ladies. The price is also very reasonable. I will be returning with friends and family. A great addition to Borehamwood's good eating places.

I was in Borehamwood with my fiancée and a friend (we had been to watch a TV recording at the nearby Elstree Studios) and we decided to pop in here on our way back to the station for a drink and a bite to eat.The standard of the food was so much better than I was expecting, we shared fish cakes, spicy prawn crackers and duck rolls to start and then each had a Panang, Red and Jungle curry which were all delicious and enormous (very generous portions!)All washed down with a couple of drinks from the bar for around £40, bargain for the standard of service and food, really enjoyed it!

We were very excited to try this new Thai kitchen as it has numerous good reviews on Trip Advisor. My wife and I do not normally drink and we were quite hesitant at first to come to a pub for a Friday evening meal. As soon as you enter, the atmosphere and entertainment were good and the place did not smell of a typical pub. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They have nice Thai selections and we were not disappointed. Being Asians, we knew that we have come into the right place because the food, from starters to desserts, were very flavourful and delicious, servings were huge and plating was done as if you are eating on a five star restaurant. We will definitely come back!

We came to the fish and chips shop obviously for some fish and chips and we got what we ordered. Service was slightly slow, but what do you expect from a friendly and talkative cashier. It's a small business and is rarely busy.

Held my husbands 40th birthdate here last weekend which was a surprise, had approx. 40 people. Was a great night lots of space and felt like it was just us in there as the area was away from the main bar. Really well put on and the food was amazing, lots of guests commented on how good it was! Very reasonable prices too. Overall great night at a great venue. Thank you!

Dropped in for a drink, and it was a great spot! I didn’t try the food this time, but I’ve heard it’s really good—definitely planning to give it a go next time. The open fireplace gives it a cozy vibe, and the staff were friendly. Plenty of parking too, which is always a plus. Perfect place to kick back and relax!

Food was not great. Chicken burger not cooked too well. Jacket potato hard inside and out. Fairly busy and not well attended by staff. Previously on a number of occasions we have had great food and service. Not aure what went wrong on this occasion although I didn’t recognise any of the staff members
