What a belting little boozer this is. It was rammed packed but with loads of staff on duty. We got there just after football had finished. There were loads of train memorabilia which my pals loved and the choice of ales was great. We stayed in for 2 pints. I was drinking 'Highway to Hell" lovely ale. Dead friendly local people we chatted to and the atmosphere was great. Well done to this place.

Brilliant real ale pub - lots of choice. Has been a featured CAMRA pub in the past. Good location near the station and a 20-minute walk to Pride Park for Derby County FC. Neutral pub on match days, so there is a mix of fans - excellent - how it should be!

Didn't stay here but popping in for a couple pints of decent real at a good price as well. At time of my visit a pint of DDH Japiur 5.9% on cask was 4.80 which is great price. Loads of real ales and craft beers on offer and nice friendly bar as well

What a fantastic traditional pub nicely situated not far from the railway and bus stations. The two main rooms were adorned with either railway or brewery memorabilia. The welcome was very warm, and the selection of real ales, fruity IPAs and Stouts - all perfectly kept - was great. Tried the North Riding Coconut Stout which was one of the nicest beers I’ve tasted all at a reasonable price - and even cheaper with a CAMRA card. Snacks are also available, in fact it is the only pub I’ve been in that does guest snacks! Won’t be long before I’ll be going back.

If you're in Derby and want cask beer you have to go here, probably the best kept cask beer in Derby with a constantly changing line up alongside two or three on keg and a large selection of craft and continental cans and bottles. Also definitely worth noting that they regularly have Pentrich, in fact it's almost Pentrich's unofficial tap room with it available on cask, keg, and canned. The cans and bottles are available to take out as is the cask and keg in 2 and 4 pint carry-out. Good range of snacks including a range of cold pies, peanuts, crisps, homemade sausage rolls and freshly made cobs to order. Fairly basic inside with a railway theme, it's also got a simple but deceptively spacious beer garden. Look out for themed food events, as they're always worth going to.

Traditional pub (& hotel) with an uncommonly large selection of rotating cask ales, real ales. Fairly typical, simple but comfortable-enough interior, competent staff, neighbourhood atmosphere (unlike at the rowdier, nearby The Brunswick). This place has a good reputation among Derby real ale drinkers, and it's conveniently located close to Derby Midland Station - and thus, a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Open till late. Had some fairly good ales there, including a relatively rare can of Thornbridge Chaipur, not to be confused with Jaipur. Moderate prices.

Surprised there aren't more reviews for this 'proper' cafe. Lots of simple, but filling choices - the usuals on toast, chip cobs, sandwiches, full meals etc - for excellent value prices. Fed 2 hungry kids and myself with drinks with change from £10 - try and do that elsewhere! Service was efficient, food arrived quickly. It tasted great and with good portion sizes. Just what was required!

It was in 1979 as a 18yr old I and the youth of the day use to call into this wonderful propper café. The days of Anti pasti the punk band of derby who use to hang out on old derby Market place along with all the other people who use to call and eat or just drink the really good coffee and tea that use to be served here . I became homeless at around 20 yrs of age and every Thursday for reasons I'm still not sure of I use to always call into the Acropolis for either breakfast or a really hearty afternoon meal . It is such a shame to hear that the place has closed down. Another sad blow to derby I am sad to say . I can honestly say that the my memories of the place and the staff who worked there is one of gratefulness. The place literally kept me alive at a very dark period of my life . The food was brilliant and plentiful. Not sure if anyone who owned the place back then or who worked there back in the late 70s will read this but the Acropolis cafe saved my life . Sounds a bit odd I know but trust me to be able to have a lovely hot meal at affordable prices and a hot drink saved my life . Thank you all at Acropolis. That café has always always and will always hold a special place in my Heart 💙 . Such a loss . Thank you Barry . Xx
