Surprised there aren't more reviews for this 'proper' cafe. Lots of simple, but filling choices - the usuals on toast, chip cobs, sandwiches, full meals etc - for excellent value prices. Fed 2 hungry kids and myself with drinks with change from £10 - try and do that elsewhere! Service was efficient, food arrived quickly. It tasted great and with good portion sizes. Just what was required!

Poor service. I waited 35 minutes for a sausage sandwich, and when it finally arrived it was slammed down on the table without a word. A reminder to the pig ignorant staff of Busy Beans Cafe, Eagle Market, Derby - basic manners cost nothing.

A no frills eatery with lots of traditional 'greasy spoon' type fare including the usual on toast items, full English breakfasts, proper dinners, jackets, snacks and drinks galore. Prices are extremely good value. This visit was just for drinks which were just right to fuel further shopping so can't comment on the food - but the table next door had a rather tempting chip buttie with proper chips so will certainly re-visit and sample the menu! Staff were all friendly and looked happy to be there. Give them a try!

This cafe is great value, they do a good cooked breakfast and the toast is thick - hence the door. The staff are very friendly and always cheerful. Service is quick and food is consistent. I have had the breakfast and the cheese sandwiches. the do a lovely milky coffee.

Poor breakfast ingredients and the only good thing about the coffee was that it was warm so pass Busy Beans as there are better places close by.

A small but perfectly formed café set within Derbys popular Eagle Market. Does exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak, with a varied menu of snacks, breakfasts and full meals at really reasonable prices. Just what is required to refuel whilst shopping. On this visit, our first, we enjoyed delicious fried egg cobs (rolls) and my son (who has eaten many a fried egg cob) said it was the best he had had - high praise indeed! I also liked the decor with quirky signs and pictures on the walls. Will certainly return on our next visit to Derby.

Good music and good value drinks. Have not been for a very long time and it has changed since I last went (no longer serves food and more open plan than it was). Won't leave it as long until I next go,

Visited last night on a whim and had a bit of a wait because the place was full. Once seated the staff were very attentive ensuring our drinks came quickly and clearing our plates. Each time with a smile and checking we were happy. There was a huge choice of dishes and they were kept well stocked. There's nothing worse than wanting a particular dish for it to have run out and not restocked and that didn't happen. There is no shortage of what I would call the premium dishes, such as lamb and king prawns and everything was high quality. We have visited several times and despite eating many dishes, I still haven't managed to try half of them. Place seems very well run with plenty of staff all working hard.

It was in 1979 as a 18yr old I and the youth of the day use to call into this wonderful propper café. The days of Anti pasti the punk band of derby who use to hang out on old derby Market place along with all the other people who use to call and eat or just drink the really good coffee and tea that use to be served here . I became homeless at around 20 yrs of age and every Thursday for reasons I'm still not sure of I use to always call into the Acropolis for either breakfast or a really hearty afternoon meal . It is such a shame to hear that the place has closed down. Another sad blow to derby I am sad to say . I can honestly say that the my memories of the place and the staff who worked there is one of gratefulness. The place literally kept me alive at a very dark period of my life . The food was brilliant and plentiful. Not sure if anyone who owned the place back then or who worked there back in the late 70s will read this but the Acropolis cafe saved my life . Sounds a bit odd I know but trust me to be able to have a lovely hot meal at affordable prices and a hot drink saved my life . Thank you all at Acropolis. That café has always always and will always hold a special place in my Heart 💙 . Such a loss . Thank you Barry . Xx
