It’s like every other Wetherspoon, but the ambience here is slightly nicer, the staff are friendlier, and the service is a bit faster than at most other locations. The food and drinks were good. I suspect the curries are pre-packaged and reheated rather than freshly made, but they were still enjoyable. Overall, it’s a nice place with a good ambience.

I really like this place, especially when it's quiet. Lovely ambience. However, one thing that really annoys me is that they are often sold out of their prize meals. Last summer I went in numerous times for their fish 'n' chips only to be told that they were sold out. Yesterday I went in and ordered the Christmas dinner but was told they'd sold out of turkey. Really disappointing because I was only in Edinburgh for one night and walked a long way especially for the festive meal.

I wish I'd discovered this place much sooner.....I would have saved a fortune. I had a very enjoyable large Scottish breakfast for £7.43. It was way better than the equivalent I had elsewhere that cost £22!!! Hot drinks only £1.56 but also offer free refills. So all in all it was fantastic value for money and decent quality products. The drinks menu also caught my attention......very cheap compared to most other places with pints of beer as cheap as £1.99 and most others being less than £5. Bottles of wine about £10 cheaper than most other places at under £15 and cocktails also offering great value. I will return here on my next visit to sample more food and drinks.

My friend was kicked out of here by a bouncer when he was completely sober. He had a couple sips of his drink, he went outside for signal and they wouldn’t let him back in because he “had enough alcohol” need to rethink your bouncers and who you hire. Because it was completely unfair. As we were leaving the same bouncer was going around telling people to leave. Clearly some sort of hobby for him. Food was alright

Popped in on my own on a Friday evening about 7.00pm to wait for some friends to arrive (still haven’t got any). It was really busy and had a good mix of people in. Ordered a pint of Paolozzi from the bar and managed to find a vacant table to waste away a half hour people watching. I can’t say anything bad about the AGB as it is what it says, a Wetherspoons! We all know what to expect and that it will have a decent selection of very reasonably priced drinks and food. The table of hen party girls sitting behind me certainly seemed ecstatic when one of their number came back with 3 bottles of Prosecco for under £45. The party was about to start!!

What can I say. It’s a Wetherspoons. One thing to note here however, are the toilets that are no further away than any other normal pub 😆 Actually, I’ve noted most Scottish ‘Spoons share this trait unlike the English ‘Spoons where you have to walk 500 miles and then 500 more to access the toilets! 😂👌🏻 Overall, a pleasant place where you know the standard before you enter. Two female bar staff members provided exceptionally poor service and customer care. One staff member was an older woman with glasses and black hair, while the other was a younger woman with orange hair. My partner and I visited the bar for drinks and stood waiting for over 10 minutes without being acknowledged. The staff were inattentive, serving customers who spoke up first rather than those who had been waiting longer. When I finally intervened and informed the younger woman that we had been waiting longer than others she had served, she conferred with the older woman, who then informed us that we would not be served. This experience was shockingly unprofessional and disappointing. 01/08/24

Totally unfair that non smokers are forced to sit with smokers in the outdoor area. This area is for everyone to enjoy my husband and I have respiratory issues but we should be as entitled to enjoy a drink in the open air along with other customers. These smokers should be moved to a smoking area for a cigarette. Unfortunately they think the outdoors belongs to them. Comeon Wetherspoons we are all customers and we don’t deserve to have our air polluted by selfish smokers you should be taking care of that

They couldn't pay me back, they could only offer me a soft drink instead of a cocktail, which are not equal in price. So I went back to the hotel to get my ID card, and when I came back the staff apologized with a glass of wine. At least that's what I thought, because ten minutes later the glass was taken away. A few moments later the staff looked carefully to see if I did drink some wine out of the glass and put it on the bar, probably to sell again to someone else. ****please read if you are considering booking this hotel**** I stayed here about a week ago when visiting the absolutely beautiful city of Edinburgh. Although I was amazed at the awe of this city after visiting for the first time, it was an incredible buzzkill staying at this hotel. I am typically a person who goes out of my way to give only positive feedback and give people a lot of grace (especially these days), the lack of professionalism and straight up anger I received from Jack was easily one of the most confrontational and to simply put it, mean individuals I have ever spoken with. My cousin needed shampoo to which he said he didn’t have any and proceeded to type on the computer screen, completely dismissing such a basic request. We are incredibly kind human beings and were completely confused as to why he was so rude off the bat, even using rude to explain his disposition is an understatement. He proceeded to be extremely aggressive and refused to give me a managers contact information and I am actually even questioning if Jack is his real name. In a world where everyone is recorded, I really wish I had recorded this interaction for it was so terrible and unnecessary that I have to speak up for I hope no one gets treated the way we did, in or even outside the hotel. I will say however that Adam was absolutely kind and was the complete opposite energy we received from Jack. The hotel itself wasn’t managed the best, was a bit tired, but was sufficient enough for our stay for a couple of nights and wasn’t worth complaining over. However, Jack should never be working in a service industry let alone speaking to people the way he did to us even outside of the hotel doors. His aggressiveness was beyond mean, exceeded rude, but made both my cousin and myself extremely uncomfortable speaking to us in almost a threatening manner.

I hope the staff have woken from their slumber by the time tourist season hits the Royal Mile. It wasn't even that busy with customers. Maybe 5 covers. We were acknowledged quickly with menus. 👍 We pointed out to them that something had been spilt on one if the chairs at our table. Nothing was done about it or even acknowledged. 👎 Then part of our order had been forgotten about. I had to chase this up. 👎Then the table next to us sat the entire time we had eaten, and drank... and used the restrooms before leaving and they still hadn't even had a menu put in front of them. 🤦‍♂️They also had to chase them up. The food itself was nice.👍 (Albeit you're paying tourist royal Mile Edinburgh prices). So a bit of a shame really. Could definitely do better.
