This was a superb pub for drinking, adorned by pretty lights and stylish walls! The latter includes a blue patterned wall and frames of Edinburgh's history like ships, counter is well presented too. I had a refreshing cocktail coming at solid prices for up in Edinburgh, sitting comfortably at a rounded clean table too!

What can I say. It’s a Wetherspoons. One thing to note here however, are the toilets that are no further away than any other normal pub 😆 Actually, I’ve noted most Scottish ‘Spoons share this trait unlike the English ‘Spoons where you have to walk 500 miles and then 500 more to access the toilets! 😂👌🏻 Overall, a pleasant place where you know the standard before you enter. Good ole ‘Spoons!

Bright and airy without too far to go to the toilet. Usually a local crowd but popular with out of towners as it has a fruit machine.

Typical traditional breakfast eaten here several times and was always good. Pleasant atmosphere, prices relatively good. In all respects it performs significantly better than other breakfast places in Edinburgh, even if, for whatever reason, they are better rated.

Two female bar staff members provided exceptionally poor service and customer care. One staff member was an older woman with glasses and black hair, while the other was a younger woman with orange hair. My partner and I visited the bar for drinks and stood waiting for over 10 minutes without being acknowledged. The staff were inattentive, serving customers who spoke up first rather than those who had been waiting longer. When I finally intervened and informed the younger woman that we had been waiting longer than others she had served, she conferred with the older woman, who then informed us that we would not be served. This experience was shockingly unprofessional and disappointing. 01/08/24

Decent spoons, less busy than the nearby standing order, fewer real ales to choose from. Food service seems very fast

Usually have a burger,chicken or fish but plumped for the Pasta Alfredo.It was absolutely delicious and will definitely have it again.

One of the better Wetherspoons I have been to. Breakfast much better than the Premier Inn and great value too

I loved the atmosphere of this place. The service was friendly and effective. The food was great and good prices. You can't go wrong with this location.

One of the better weatherspoons in the area, was a lovely day and sat outside. Was bot too busy inside but outside was full. Chips ok, and the normal drinks you would expect at weatherspoons Both had a pitch of cocktails and both fairly good,just.over £8 each.

Great food but total lack of Internet to use app effectively is a big negative, we tried their local WiFi and still extremely slow and unable to process payment unless you go outside.

Cleaner than our local Wetherspoons, decent food at reasonable prices.

As Wetherspoon afficiandos we were very disappointed with the Ramen Bowl. It was bland. We could not find the oldie goodies on the menu. (Like lemon & herb chicken)

The selection of beers was poor, too many were off! Other Wetherspoons in Edinburgh have a superior beer selection.

Hello from America! Great food and beer. While visiting from the US we went to Edinburgh Castle and stopped here for lunch. Very good and fresh fish and chips. Thanks to the staff for taking it easy on me!

Totally unfair that non smokers are forced to sit with smokers in the outdoor area. This area is for everyone to enjoy my husband and I have respiratory issues but we should be as entitled to enjoy a drink in the open air along with other customers. These smokers should be moved to a smoking area for a cigarette. Unfortunately they think the outdoors belongs to them. Comeon Wetherspoons we are all customers and we don’t deserve to have our air polluted by selfish smokers you should be taking care of that

Cozy place to have drinks and something to eat.

Price on Strongbow reduced to £3.05, happy days. Only thing missing is football on the telly.

Nice light airy pub, only had drinks hence couldn’t score the food. They can and collected some glasses and mugs from previous customers but left plates and rubbish, no table clean even though it was very quiet No parking near by. Usure which level toilets were on

Went to this wetherspoons for breakfast only 1/2 dozen people in. Ordered 2 large breakfasts and within 10 minutes we had our breakfast in front of us. It was all cold and uneatable so I took it back to the bar and didn't even get an apology, they offered another breakfast but I ask for money back 😒

Typical spoons, you get what you'd expect with a nice view of the long road out front.

Staff asked for my ID card, which I did not have with me. I'm 27, but a photo wasn't enough to prove. Don't get me wrong, I understand all of that. They couldn't pay me back, they could only offer me a soft drink instead of a cocktail, which are not equal in price. So I went back to the hotel to get my ID card, and when I came back the staff apologized with a glass of wine. At least that's what I thought, because ten minutes later the glass was taken away. A few moments later the staff looked carefully to see if I did drink some wine out of the glass and put it on the bar, probably to sell again to someone else. The food is good but the service is very very very bad!!!

Loved the telephones on the wall which matches the theme of this Wetherspoons pub. Good value for money for a snack & drink, plenty of seating too.

No character at all, which isn't what you usually want in a spoons but this place is extra dreary. Go to the standing order or picture house instead.

Lovely pub. However it was really badly understaffed when we visited. Had planned to get food but only 1 member of staff on the bar and also serving food to tables. Took 15 mins to get a drink so didn't stay for food.

If your on your pension. This is the place to go. Good old fashioned Canteen food from the 70s onwards. Cheap and cheerful. You also get a drink with the price.

Great decor with all the telephones on the walls. Traditional breakfast was good with the optional extra of haggis as it’s Scotland. If here later in the day Haggis pizza is on the menu. Worth a visit

Great wetherspoons, it relatively new and looks it. It's well maintained and clean. The staff are friendly and quick. The service was fast and the food was incredibly fresh. Can't go wrong with getting food and drink here.

It's a spoons. It's nice and cheap with a good location! Tables were not clean and service was slow unless you used the app. Food was burnt and flavourless but a good price. Its a spoons.

Great spot if you’re looking for a shower. He only spilt half the pitcher on me and never even apologised or offered a new one. Not to mention digging his claws into the hip to save it from spilling further. Manager stormed off and slammed the tray. Lovely drink though.

A TYPICALLY BRILLIANT JD WETHERSPOONS PUB. I'VE BEEN TO YOUR PUBS IN INVERNESS, ABERDEEN, EDINBURGH, DUMFRIES, GLASGOW AND CARLISLE, AND THEY ARE ALL AMAZING, SO MUCH SO THAT I VERY MUCH LOOK FORWARD TO VISITING MORE IN THE FUTURE.

Had a works leaving do here last week.for 12 people. It was just before we ate & Las Iguanas so very convenient.

Table full of dishes from previous customers ask for it to be cleared told to busy someone would get to it later,20 minutes later it got cleared grudgingly be the manager.food arrived after about 30 minutes chips were cold mushy peas were a solid lump gravy was solidified steak and kidney pudding was dry. Not a good experience for any tourists in the area for the Christmas fair

It's a "spoons" what else is there to say in reality. Cheap venue for a night out and decent food for the price you pay.

Used to be an easy staple for meeting up with family when in the city, but wouldn't bother again. Food (2 bowls of chips and an onion rings) were stone cold and just grease. We went to the bar to ask for replacements and the bar guy just nodded and said 'are they cold?' before we even said a word. Beers on the app or menu don't correspond with what was available, and what we ended up with was flat. Every table and the toilets were dirty. And this was before the Christmas season/Markets properly began. Wouldn't bother.

Excellent location, views of the penguins 😆 🤣 don't worry. it's for the ice rink that is set up outside. Brilliant location for easy access to everything! Staff very friendly, clean toilets.

We decided to go to the Alexander Graham bell after a enjoyable day at the Christmas markets unfortunately Caitlin the barmaid decided to ruin our afternoon, after ordering 2 alcoholic drinks and 2 soft drinks for kids Caitlin thought it was her place to mum shame us for having A drink when we had children with us. This was our first drink of the day and I would understand if we were drunk but did not go to Wetherspoons to be mum shamed and receive parenting advice from a jumped up 20 year old a bad attitude !!! Will never back

Good Wetherspoon's in the heart of Edinburgh good food prices and service

we had a great steak deal here and our friend an all day breakfast. Usual Wetherspoons prices. Glad to see a ground floor disabled loo as well. Very friendly service. We'll be back.

This was our first visit to a Wetherspoons. Eating out in Edinburgh is quite expensive so we gave this place a try. The place is basic. There's no music playing. You just get a table and order via the app or at the bar. We used the app and it was easy. The food is very very cheap: two double BBQ burgers with two pints of IPA for only £25! This was our cheapest dinner in the city during out five day stay. The beers arrived after about 15 minutes and the burgers 15 minutes later again. They were small and didn't really taste at all of BBQ sauce. The burger buns and onions rings were all burnt. However, we are starving so ate the lot. A no point did any member of staff ask if our meal was OK. So I guess you get what you pay for: poor quality food and no customer service.

This was my first experience at a Wetherspoons establishment, and I was pleasantly surprised. The bartender, a young man, was very courteous and couldn't do enough for us. The drinks were remarkably well priced - where else can you purchase a bottle of prosecco for £14 to enjoy in the sunshine on George Street. We were having such a nice time we decided to order some food. Again, I was pleasantly surprised - not Gordon Ramsay, but not bad at all! Well done Spoons.

Half cooked bacon/34 beans/blackpudding so hard they could have been used to knock in nails/hash browns o.k.Waste of money

Food was poor. South shields 'Would Have' pub beats this place hands down. Chips were obviously reheated, eggs were over done and pock marked yolks looked terrible, bacon was over done and servers were moody when we asked for the extra condiment we had to pay extra for. Never have to pay for extra mayo in South Shields and staff in Shields always ask how everything was....not here...moody plate collector just ignores any chat and made us feel very unwelcome and awkward. Other tables' eggs looked great so feel poorly treated. I know the staff are on crap wages but if you have to walk around looking miserable and acting arrogant when folk talk to you, dont work here because you ruin the experience for the customer. 22nd July, table #31, around 12noon. Thanks for nothing.

This is the second time I have gone into a Witherspoons for lunch on ‘Curry Thursday’ to find there is no curry available on the menu. However as an added delight I found when visiting the toilet, no cleaning had been done from the night before and the facilities were filthy. These pubs open with a razzmatazz and quickly decline into mucky pubs

Turned up with the family to partake in Wetherspoons Thursday Curry Night to find there were no curries available. This is the 2nd time this month that I have taken my family to a Wetherspoons pub for their Thursday Curry Night to find there were no curries on the menu. They couldn’t arrange a piss up in a brewery.

Terrible customer service. Staff stood talking even though tables empty waiting to be cleaned. Not very busy at all sat at table took them almost 20 minutes to clear it. Then only took empty glasses not even attempted to wipe the table. The staff maybe grunting not even acknowledging you.

Disgusted by this place! Used to be good and value for money. Prices are up BUT customer service is non-existent! I have lived in Edinburgh ALL of my life and have been treated rubbish on my last 3 visits! Thrown out with my brother after 1 drink, neither of us drunk but he does have mental health issues so they just 'assumed'. Not served when in with my daughter of 2 n a half after 2 drinks (have been in lots of times with children!) told it's company policy but must be managers discretion!! Sorry my daughter was not sat down the 'whole' time, thought it was a 'family' chain?? Then in with my daughter and Mum (had my 2 drinks!!!) And the meals we were served were atrocious; wouldn't serve it to my worst enemy! Honestly! Chips were about a week old and multiple times fried! My Mum's panini was rock solid, she couldn't eat it without an expensive trip to the dentist, so didn't! My daughter's kids meal was dry and cold (with the same horrible chips). Mum said to the waiter on collection of the plates that the meal wasn't great and that the chips were atrocious; his answer was; oh, sorry to hear that! We didn't want to make a fuss, we just won't be back!!!!!

Please don't bother! Been to a few weather spoons but never felt the need to say how bad one is until now. I could list everything but you would think I was just a disgruntled customer but I promise you I'm not.

Me and my husband had fish and chips got only half a fish, paid for large one and chips were sparse as well, pity as its a nice place, but for coffee only,guildhall in dunfermline is far superior , large fish, piping hot,and lovely chips

Visited this pub with family for a meal... I had a Curry which was fantastic. Others had Burgers which were equally as good. Staff very helpful and friendly always smiling and couldn't do enough for us. Great atmosphere too... Will definitely go back...
