Nice place to have a few drinks, but really over priced

My daughter and I decided to stop by for a delightful cocktail treat, and we were so pleased with our experience! The wait staff were wonderfully attentive, polite, and truly in tune with our needs. We enjoyed two fabulous cocktails for around £25, including a tip – a lovely little indulgence! The decor was charming, and if the weather's nice, the balcony is a fantastic bonus. Plus, the toilets were sparkling clean, which is always a great sign! With good company, our visit was nothing short of magical. While we didn’t try the food this time, it was just a pit stop, and I can’t wait to return and explore more on our next visit!

Had a wonderful meal and drinks this Saturday for a friends 40th. Fantastic service from start to finish really helpful friendly team. Would highly recommend and look forward to a return visit!

Had an amazing night at The Alchemist – big shoutout to Dougie for making the evening even better. Great personality, solid recommendations. Also, massive thank you to the legend who ran nearly all the way to the station to return my Apple Watch and brand-new phone I’d left behind. Absolute life saver – I owe you one! After extensive research by my wife this is one of the two best cocktail bars in Leeds. This research is on going. Above is my review from 5 years ago. My wife and myself recently visited the Alchemist with friends and we were all disappointed. The place was not very busy on a Saturday night. My mojito was mostly ice. Two of the other cocktails were the same.

Just had an epic meal that hit all the right notes! Sam, our server, was spot on, offering great menu guidance and keeping the vibes fun with his attentiveness. Got gotten a voucher gifted and I’m very glad I didn’t have to pay because I would be regretting it. The food is shocking, has zero taste ! Literally tasted of air. Service was amazing, all staff very hard working and can’t fault it. Beautiful interiors and great music but don’t bother with food

We had our work Christmas meal here. Food was delicious abd service was fantastic! I'd recomend the tongue cocktail (french kiss)...gave us all a giggle!

Went to the alchemist on New Years Eve with my husband .We were really excited to welcome the New Year in and started here for our first drink .We sat down and within a few minutes were told that they wanted the stools back in 10 mins for diners to wait .No problem we thought but were happy when another chair became free so moved seats .The waiter came and asked us to move .I explained we had moved seats and pointed to the chair he requested earlier .it now had bags on it .He said no I still want your chairs and left the chairs he requested earlier with girls bags on it .I asked him why as it made no sense but he couldn’t provide any explanation ..The waiter then proceeded to tell the other waiters about us .Niot sure what version of events as we had done nothing wrong at all .The staff proceeded to take it in turns to glare at us .We have had a truly challenging year and New Years Eve was particularly important this time .You ruined it for us so thankyou for that !

As always the drinks are great, but the place does feel a little soulless the past few times we've been in. Not Wetherspoons soulless, just lacking any warmth or personality...

Booked a table for lunch and was tsken to a lovely table. Server very attentive, drinks came very quick and were lovely (had a cocktail & a beer) we also had lunch (could have also chosen off the breakfast menu). We had the flatbreads and they were lovely. The chef forgot to put chips on my husbands plate, but it was quickly rectified when we drew the servers attention to it. Would definitely recommend for cocktails and a spot of food.

Visited Alchemist Tinty for my works Christmas do. On entering by first impressions wre good. We ordered the food ordered off the £40 for 3 courses menu, it was presented well but all the main meals appeared to have a high salt content and left your taste in your mouth. The bill was incorrect asked them to remove the service charge as we had planned to pay our own tip and the proceeded to pay for our meal and drinks individually . After paying was told we still owes nearly £30 questioned the bill numerous times but they were adamant it was correct . It appears that although there is a £40 menu on billing they add the cost of the individually meals which as result made the bill incorrect. After the server went backwards and forwards it was finally agreed that it was incorrect but still told we had £1 to pay which we did to avoid any further hassle. The billing process needs to be looked at ,I'm just pleased I wasn't drinking or The Alchemist Tinty would be £30 up . So if you go check the bill Certainly a place I will not be returning to.

In Leeds for a pre-Christmas trip with friends. Booked the Alchemist in advance as I had been before and enjoyed it. Service was impeccable from arriving, greeted by a (very tall) pleasant young man who had our drinks forwarded from the bar. A lovely young man called Dougie looked after us. We are fun-loving giggly ladies of a certain age but he was so sweet and pleasant. We stayed there for the afternoon and had lovely food and drinks. A great experience from a place that has customer care spot on! Other hospitality venues could learn something. Really good experience

Super place. Out on the balcony as Storm Darragh ragged out/beside. Had a super evening with friends and people we met alongside us. Definitely go again. Zombie Red something cocktail is very tasty. Didn't pay myself so can't be certain on price

Lovely food . Fillet steak sandwich and the French sauce is gorgeous. Chicken in a basket and cheese burger. With the best fries ever salt and pepper fries. Porn star drink too And colour changing cocktails Fantastic hot food perfect service and a top bloke who put our umbrella up for us at our table (he was a customer) thank you, we would have froze 😆.

This place was fantastic! Fast service and food for a restaurant! The staff were very pleasant the entire time, and when there was an issue with one of the items the party ordered they were very apologetic. We were also served very fast, we spent an hour there (would've spent more time if we didn't haven't have to leave right after the main course). The food was just incredible, my katsu curry was the best I've ever had. The sauce was impeccable and the chicken was amazingly crispy. My plate was entirely cleaned off. I also had a bite of my partners chicken in a basket, which was piping hot and freshly cooked. I would definitely recommend eating here, definitely get the kastu curry or chicken in a basket.

Surprised we were able to easily book a table but it was not busy last night 31/10/24) food offer is good quality food menu is slightly limited but better to do some dishes well than offer lots and not do them well. I went for smoking chicken, which is effectively chicken fajitas. Two mains and two pints came to mid £40s which you can’t complain about. Ed did have to ask for the bill twice. Finally, lovely views of Leeds giving chance of some great photographs.

We enjoy this bar, not eaten here but have enjoyed sitting out to enjoy a drink in between shopping 😀

I come to the Alchemist in the Trinity centre Leeds about once a month. I have a long island ice tea which are usually excellent. Today I had 2. One was very good the 2nd one was terrible. I went to the bar to complain and was told by the bartender who made the drink that it because the ice had melted. I had only just bought the drink. My partner went to get another drink for himself and was told it will be his last drink. Rude. We have always loved coming here.

Me and my friends came for a meal on Sunday night. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our experience. The main course was small. Then we were informed that there were no Chocolate Brownis left and offered cheesecake which I did not like and my friend finished it. I asked if I could have a mango ice cream with cheesecake and said yes and then charged for it. After paying a bill we found that we were overcharged £5. The staff was nice but what was supposed to be a nice evening was a very stressful evening.

I really hope management see this and review their CCTV I visited the alchemist at trinity leeds for my birthday As a regular customer I’d always expect a good service and always receive it Not lastnight however ; (12th October) The bartender asked us what we wanted, No hello hi, nothing, Ok fine I’m let that pass He rattled off the draught beers with no chsnce of hearing him I politely said sorry, can you say that again, The guy then rolled his eyes! It gets worse Drinks ordered, I get a flat pint slammed infront of me. The guy has the audacity to then add a tip of £2 on payment for our drinks Luckily my partner stepped in, and said tip? No sorry take that off He then threw his arms in the air and mumbled something which I’m quite happy I didn’t actually hear Again, managers/even owners Please watch youre footage. We were supposed to be meeting spot 40+ people here. I quickly diverted them all to a nearby restaurant 1star is too much There’s should be a minus option What’s happened to my favourite spot in Leeds? If this guy worked for me he’d be sacked on the spot for turning business away

We had the bottomless brunch, I had the smashed potato & eggs - it was lovely. We had 6 cocktails each ... all were lovely. My only issue was when the bill arrived it stated that the tip was fixed at 10% but when we checked the amount added it was actually 15%. I also heard someone at the next table querying this.

There is a menu of quirky and original cocktails on offer in trendy surroundings. It's a tad pricey but good fun.

First time in Leeds so were looking for somewhere different to eat, found this place which looked interesting. Staff were friendly and the place looked clean, food was very good and hot. Be aware that if you order fajita they pour the sauce onto the hot plate at the table, this then spits everywhere only managed to cover my clothes in time. Apart from that we enjoyed our lunch.

The Alchemist is the ideal spot for lunch during a shopping trip. This was our first visit and we were greeted by extremely pleasant staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was amazing and served without a long wait. Very impressed and will return soon.

Popped in to have some Cocktails and Lunch. One of the cocktails ordered (a mojito) came and didn't taste like how I know one should (as I very had many) no lime in sight and non of the mint was crushed, asked for lime pieces which made it taste better. Then the food, I ordered the chicken in a basket. I asked for sweet chilli sauce instead of the bbq and no idea what type of sauce arrived but I have NEVER had a sweet chilli sauce like that. It was sooooo watery! It wouldn't stay on my chicken just running off like water! Didn't taste at all like sweet chilli! When I told the waiter he just told me that's how it's made here. To me it was as if something had been added to it thinning it out and ruining its flavour and consistency so disappointing. Then the Colslaw really didn't taste right didn't seem fresh had a funny taste. These things put me off my food so I didn't eat it all. My friend ordered a burger which seemed fine but we didn't realise the chips came salted couldn't see it said taht on the menu and waiter never said so the chips weren't eaten as she doesn't like salt plus she had an ulcer which after trying a few chips she couldn't manage as the salt made the ulcer hurt! And lastly a mint cocktail that was asked for we were told they didn't have the stuff to make it only for a man to walk past about 10 mins later with one!! Not a great experince at all, wouldn't rush back sadly. (Have enjoyed eating/drinking at the Alchemist in various places before)

Astonished. I came to the alchemist with my best friends and our babies ( 11 months & 2 months). I spoke to the waiter and asked if my not even one year old could please have a child’s portion of the fish and chips as they did not have a children’s menu. It was agreed that they could do this. When it came to paying they charged me full price for a dinner for a not even 1 year old. My food came and was very average. After paying the waitress came over and asked us to pay an extra pound because they had brought us some tomato ketchup over. Cannot get over this experience!

A really cool setting in Leeds. Cracking views of the city, the bar itself is exceptionally cool. Great choice of cocktails. Only drawback was that they ran out of dry ice so the usual flamboyant deliver of the cocktail had to be adapted but they did a great job. We didn't have any food so can't really comment.

Poor food , steak was OK but for £29 you demand better. Drinks came after food overall service was poor to shocking. Other food was on par with the lower end food chain at premium cost. To add insult to injury they charged a service fee.

Went for a drink for my friend’s 21st birthday and was honestly blown away. The bartender was so courteous, managing our group of six and another two groups of people at the same time. We got two Mad Hatters and a Pick your Poison cocktail. All were absolutely fantastic, both in taste, presentation and just in general you could tell every detail had been thought about meticulously. I cannot thank the bartender enough, he carried all our drinks to the table and I did not manage to get his name but genuinely he made our night so special. Even if everything else hadn’t been so great, we would come back just for him. Thank you for this 1st class experience!! Only minor con is the drinks are expensive, but definitely worth it, no one can doubt that. The thought, care and effort that goes into it is clear. It is lovely as a special occasion place but probably wouldn’t be able to come here all the time (however much I’d want to).

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our experience here. Where has the atmosphere gone!! It was like we had walked in on someone's wake. The tables weren't cleaned as soon as a customer left. You had to wait for a member of staff to come to clear and partially clean the table we were say at. Bar staff very abrupt. The cocktails didn't seem to be as exciting or as tasty as they used to be. They were dull and boring. What was the injection part of the Red Dead cocktail meant to be, because if it was meant to alcoholic it certainly was not. Please bring back the old Alchemist that we loved and enjoyed 😉 x

Well, we called for a light lunch & ordered from the rice bowl menu, waited & waited for our food & drinks, food finally arrived, no drinks, had to go in & ask about those, ‘no ticket’ was the response, confirmed had ordered, took some time but finally arrived, would have to say, service, ‘right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing’ not what I expected at all sadly

Food was nice and atmosphere as well, just we had to constantly look for someone to come to the table, from the start we had to ask to order as nobody was coming, when we wanted more drinks we had to go find someone once again, we didn’t find the service that great.

The bar staff were great very experienced, friendly and welcoming. The cocktails are fun and offer a theatrical experience but I felt that past the theatre the cocktails were alright and expensive.

The server had just graduated with a 3rd from the university of I don’t give a sh*t. We had waited for the place to open at 10 on a Sunday (thats what the sign says). Was told firmly we are not open, he had to actually then go find out when they do open (not until 10:45).

Great food as always Service is good staff are very attentive Just wish the the music wasn't quite so loud in the restaurant area. Cocktails are brilliant

My boyfriend and I wanted to try somewhere new for a date today, so ended up at the Alchemist. Despite the gloomy weather, the staff were soon to brighten up our meal! The service was incredibly quick, and our waiters were absolutely faultless (thank you to Eby and Meg). I ordered the Korean Superfood Salad, and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken in the Basket. The food was absolutely delicious and was a perfect portion size - we definitely left stuffed! We sat out on the balcony, but were offered a seat inside at the first convenience. We enjoyed the lovely views of Leeds too much to oblige though. We will definitely visit again.

Great place for after work cocktail

We brought our teenage daughter and her friends here for her birthday for Mocktails and pre-ordered a table. When we arrived, it was so nice outside we asked if we could move seats to the balcony and the person serving us was so quick to move us outside. The drinks were served quickly and with lots of drama with the drinks, they certainly went down very well. Nice that they also serve alcohol free lager as Dad was driving. Lovely service, good array of drinks and a beautiful balcony to sit on. Some constructive feedback - please get some cushions for the seats and the benches just to add the last touch of comfort. The barstools which are thin metal bars are really uncomfortable especially in the summer when your legs are out!

Great fun. Popped in on Sunday evening having never been to this chain before. Wasn’t sure what to order and got some great recommendations by the bar team. Go on give it a go, try something different out of your comfort zone. 🥃🍸 Great atmosphere, the inside space was very trendy and also a small terrace area to enjoy a few drinks outside.

Trance music for 16 year olds.. walk in optimistic walk out with migraine. 30 minutes to get served another 15 minutes to get a drink. Rather s**t in my hands and clap then come here again.. Came cos I heard great reviews….over rated and over priced!

We visited today and received nothing but patience and kindness shown to us from the bartenders Sam and Dom. Although we were not particularly adventurous and didn’t sample the cocktails we certainly loved watching them being created. Fabulous! Well done to these two lovely young men.

Fantastic spot for its impressive rooftop view. The rooftop area operates on a first-come, first-served basis, which seems fair and manages the crowd well. The staff here are notably friendly, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere, making it an excellent place to unwind or catch up on some work during the quieter weekday hours. We decided to try the orange wine, intrigued by its uniqueness. Although it was a bit on the pricey side, it was still within a reasonable range considering the quality and the setting. The tater tots were a standout, arriving nice and crispy, and the sharing platter was a decent choice for sampling a variety of snacks. - Great place if you are looking to enjoy a good drink with a view, especially if you appreciate a laid-back vibe during the less crowded times. And it closes late!
