The Albert Inn in Chesterfield

Decided to try the Sunday Lunch here at this local pub and really glad I did. I've been to a few around Chesterfield over the last few months and I must say this was the best I've had. The meat was cooked beautifully and the gravy was fab. I liked how the veg and potatoes came to the table separately so you can have what you want. The pub was friendly and has parking around the back. Great little find. I'd recommend their Sunday Lunch to anyone. They also do a take away Sunday Lunch.

Very disappointing, too pricy for the standard of food. Frozen chips, tinned peas other veg disappointing as stale. Average prices above £10.00 Have been a few times as it has been handy Need to step up, same menu all the time, same specials o they don't or not available. Love the pub and location and beers, lovely out door space. But the food lets it down.

What a place! We booked our one night mid-journey stay at a local campsite based solely on the reviews seen on this pub! We arrived later than planned and rang ahead to see if food was still being served. We knew with it being a Sunday, food would be limited (along with serving times). However, the landlord said that he would prepare us some food when we arrived. When we got there, the pub was wonderful! It has a fantastic beer garden, which is a proper sun trap! The landlord said he had enough for a couple of roast dinners, which we both had and MY GOODNESS the were huge! Proper home cooked food with wonderful ingredients! The Yorkshire pubs were just impeccable and massive! Incredible value for money too! We were so grateful for them preparing us food after service had finished. We’ve never been treated so well! I would go here again and again. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. I couldn’t rave about this place enough! It’s a must try in a beautiful quiet village. It’s Dog Friendly too!

BAGUETTE CONTAINED ONLY DRY BEEF ALSO MISSING CHIPS - ABYSMAL, DAUGHTER VERY HAPPY WITH CHICKEN BURGER

It never arrived even though it stated delivered, tried ringing up to see where it had been delivered to and no answer after ringing for over an hour. A shame I was looking forward to it.

Dogs bed behind bar.dog sat in food area .dog barking upstairs.6pm nobody in pub.seems very expensive pint and a glass of wine £9.50.didnt try the food but looked nice.

This guy a the best Sunday dinner takeaway I have ever had.

Saturday 18th May visiting the area and popped in for a drink and something to eat had the JUST chicken burger lol, also thanks to Will and cannot forget MADRI the dog plenty of choice on the menu, will return soon Steve and Michele from Bedfordshire

Lovely welcoming pub. Great food and fantastic daily specials. Will definitely be back. Also this pub is dog friendly.

Lovely home cooked Roast dinner and home cooked Apple Crumble. I would highly recommend this pub. Very friendly, family run pub and ample car park at the side/back. I look forward to my next visit. I've given 4 stars for atmosphere because it wasn't completely full at the time of our visit.

Amazing. This was a treat for my birthday and I have ended up with enough food for tomorrow as well. Utterly delicious and well worth the expense.

Fantastic little old-school pub. Landlady was welcoming. As was her gorgeous side kick dog. Beer was good. Would be a happy drunk if this were my local. For the record, I'm not a drunk but would happily descend into the abyss for a local like the Albert.

5 of us called in this lunch time 03/04/2024. This is a real Pub run by real friendly people, this is not a McDonald's with a bar. It is a warm friendly pub with excellent food cooked by the landlord himself who makes a fantastic job of it, just make sure you are hungry as the portions are generous. We will be going back and next time I will remember to take photo's of the excellent food.

Good local pub .. not commercial .. friendly landlord cooks simple traditional food himself with great portions and well presented and tasty. Met here with my son as an alternative to service stations on the M1. A good call. Will come again

Beautiful food! First time we’ve ordered from Albert Inn and was pleasantly surprised! Ordered spaghetti bolognaise, steak and ale pie and cottage pie! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Proper meat and pastry on the pie. Proper homemade bolognaise and cottage pie the cottage pie came with some lovely veg! Wouldn’t definitely recommend and will definitely be ordering again. Delivery was fast and the food was piping hot! Brilliant

We were travelling through the area and wanted to grab some lunch. I looked on Google and saw the Albert inn had 4 stars so presumed it would be pretty decent. We arrived and we ordered drinks. The barman was friendly enough to be fair. He said they were still serving food so we took a seat. I knew as soon as I saw a Pukka pie on the menu that we would not be getting home cooked food here! We both ordered small fish and chips at £8.95. When it arrived it was just looked like a frozen findus fish and some frozen chips! I ate some of it .. but quite frankly I wouldn’t serve this kind of food at home so to come out for lunch and be served it was beyond disappointing. Thankfully we are not from the area so will never be returning!

Just called in after a nice walk down the green way from clowne. We decided to have something to eat. And for the price you pay the meal was lovely. It was nice and fresh,hot and the service was good.

Recommended walk of about 30 minutes from Poolsbrook Country Park to the Albert Inn at Woodthorpe. Nice friendly welcoming village pub, decent beers and big sandwiches. Chatty hosts, good local.

Just stopped in whilst on a walk. Had a excellent meal cooked by Elisia Super service really friendly bar man Jamie. Would recommended. Pleased we found the Albert Inn.

Looking for a pub with good grub at very reasonable price, then it’s The Albert. After a long walk four of us tucked into gourmet chips that were superb, as was my steak. Good real ale too and a very friendly landlord. What more could you ask for?

We've just ordered 3 Sunday dinners to take away. We all had a different meat (beef, pork and lamb shank) and all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was our first time but definitely won't be our last. The food was excellent quality and plentiful, it's full marks from us !!

This is an absolutely lovely little family friendly pub. Clive and Dianne are wonderful and make everyone feel very welcome. The staff are very pleasant and well presented. We have sampled most things on the menu now and everything is spot on and very filling. The Sunday dinners are to die for, with the fresh veg being some of the best we’ve ever tasted. If you aren’t fancying a meaty meal the Broccoli Bake is amazing and the triple layer chip butty is great value for money as is all the menu. I would definitely recommend The Albert to anyone as you won’t be disappointed.

Myself and my friend went here yesterday Tuesday 1st of June 2021. It wasn't a warm welcome, very cold staff who didn't want to be there, these new owners are not putting the effort in. We ordered a cream cheese bake with vegetables and tempura prawns, me and my friend ordered the same meal. The cauliflower and sliced new potatoes was really cold so we asked for those parts to be warmed up, the chef who's the owner didn't look very happy at all, we felt really awkward, he warmed them all up in the microwave, we was waiting a while, then when he bought them back he said right which is which, we looked but didn't know because we had both only eaten a small amount, he got really nasty and shouted in a horrible uncomfortable tone "right ill just make them both again then" then he said "oh f**k it ill just not charge you and go, I said you don't swear at us like that, we've been polite with you. We got up and left, the older couple on the next table wasn't pleased and said you don't talk to customers like that. They soon followed us out. I told his wife at the bar what he had done and she said what do you want me to say, I said you want to sort him out that's what. As we left he said oh well one bad review out of 15 isn't bad. We was stunned. So we got a taxi to another pub and had a lovely warm home cooked meal with lovely polite staff. The Albert inn tells you it's all home cooked, it's not it was so bland and it was definitely frozen microwave crunchy veg. Avoid.

We visited the Albert Inn today for the first time. Literally a 2 minute drive for us. Landlord & landlady were perfect hosts!Food was delicious. My friend is vegetarian and I was worried about lack of choices for her? Raised my concerns and they said they were prepared to cook whatever she wanted if the menu choices didn’t appeal. She had the menu choice and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had steak cooked perfectly to my taste. Brother had burger - loved it!!! We shared a rack of ribs- gorgeous too!!’ And Neve - very small appetite asked to take scampi away and no problem with this at all. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch for us all!!! Even booked on for our Sunday lunch!!! Xx

Actually went to the fruit and veg stall at the front of the pub. Organic hand picked, super fresh produce. Excellent quality and prices. Will definitely be going again in future.

Excellent pub offering a good selection of drinks. Superb Sunday lunch. Large portions. Lovely Yorkshire pudding. Lots of different veg. Great thick gravy. Locals very friendly and Clive and Di, the landlord and landlady are great hosts. Lovely outside area to relax in the summer months. Dog friendly. All in all, a great place to eat, drink and to be merry!!!

Stumbled upon this pub after a walk and it was a real treat. Very welcoming, dog friendly and nothing was too much trouble.food was tasty and very reasonable, would certainly recommend!

Visited today for the 1st time in many years, received a very warm, friendly welcome from the landlord & landlady, the pub was warm & very clean. The menu is down to earth pub food, not posh or a big range but enough for us to choose from. The food pleased us all, the lasagne was especially tasty & home made, the gammon nice & all piping hot. It was also good that there's a smaller meals menu too for those with a small appetite like my Mum. The bill was very reasonable for the meals we had & we would definitely return again when visiting the area.

Went in with our 2beagles and what’s lovely pub a very warm welcome Walked for a drink but we stayed for some thing to eat. Food was fab, we walked from the caravan park in poolsbrook definitely not advertised enough this pub should be bursting at the seams all the time. A definite re visit.

Bearing in mind that I only went in so my grandson could play pool. It was a very friendly atmosphere for a first time guest we were made most welcome. Drinks were really reasonable and it was a cozy place we sat in. On this occasion we did not have any food but from what we witnessed it looks to be a great place to dine. We will no doubt give it a try in the next few weeks. My wife and family are looking forward to it.

The welcome is outstanding great decor fabulous food lots of variety. Nothing is too much trouble your comfort is priority.

Really enjoyed our family birthday meal last night, Ray and his wife couldn't do enough for us. Simple but tasty menu we will definitely be going back and can't wait to try the Sunday lunch.

Homemade Sunday dinner excellent

Four of us dined Friday night. It was very busy on arrival, we had to park on the street as the car park was full. Met with three very friendly bar staff, we found a table and ordered four sirloins, two rare, two medium well done. After a wait, we didn’t mind, it’s all cooked to order, we were served our meals, came with onion rings, tomato, chunky homemade chips and peppercorn sauce. The two rare steaks were fabulous, the medium well done were cooked, for my taste more well done than medium well. Lesson learned, I’ll ask for medium next time. But other than that the food was fabulous value, tasted delicious and the waiting staff were lovely. All the menu was so reasonably priced and great choices. A good pub, a proper pub, well worth a visit

Had another fantastic meal in the Albert Inn to celebrate our 14th anniversary. As I don't eat meat I went for the vegetarian option of Brie, Cranberry and Portobello mushroom in a puff pastry with vegetables, which was excellent. Good choice of drinks and really friendly service. My husband was too full to eat his pudding so he asked if he could order it as a takeaway and they were happy to do this. Definitely recommend and will be back soon. Thanks

Me and my wife stumbled upon this gem while on a dog walk. The atmosphere within the pub was really nice and all the staff made us feel welcome. We both ordered the Cajun chicken burger and we was most definitely surprised with the very high quality of food. The homemade chips that came with the burger where amazing!! Safe too say that we will defiantly becoming back too the Albert.
