The Albert in North Hertfordshire

Went for Sunday roast with family. Food was fantastic, good sized portions and the gravy was particularly tasty. The kids meals were huge! Service was swift and staff really friendly. Very reasonably priced as well.

Beautifully refurbished, new menu is really nice! Great they have a kids menu. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again! Staff are helpful and friendly. Great pub

Amazing fresh seasonal food, great service and great value for money. We loved it and will be back often. What a wonderful little hidden secret a bit off the beaten track in Hitchen. Thank you so much. We all had the whole lobster, which came with chips, salad, galic butter and hollandaise. Amazing

Really didn’t know what to expect, we went for the lobster and checked beforehand that it would be available. All I can say is that from the minute we arrived we were welcomed warmly, service was great and the food was excellent. Well cooked, presented and brilliant value for money. A real hidden gem and worth seeking out as not right in the centre of Hitchin.

My wife phoned Sunday to book a table for Tuesday the 23rd of May no problem we where told But,actually there was,when we arrived we where the told the kitchen was closed This was the 3rd time this has happened we will not return Not doubt there will be new owners at some stage

Good meal. Great fish and chips. Service was friendly and food was served promptly. Second time at pub for food. Not disappointed.

We went with our son and his family for a joint birthday lunch. We have been several times before and were looking forward to the sunday roast.Unfortunatly somebody different was cooking. Three of us had the brisket which was so tough and difficult to cut through, let alone chew!The potatoes and carrots were overcooked and hard. The plates were cold. My son complained and we were given 10% off the bill, but this didn't make up for the badly cooked food.I took most of my meat home for the dog. The waitresses were all lovely, but something was definately wrong with the cooking. On previous visits we've had lovely food,so if we did consider going back we would check that the main chef was on that day.

Mothers Day lunch. Menu had changed due to Chef being sick. Only roast was on offer, not the main menu. Couple of Staff were lovely and very accommodating but the food was terrible!! Yorkshires were cold, potatoes were hard as were the carrots. Portion sizes were small. Lemon Meringue Pie was still somewhat frozen in the middle. Not a good experience at all.

We were looking for a Sunday roast and thankfully found this little gem in Hitchin. Choice of chicken, brisket or pork belly served with delicious fresh veg (inc. red cabbage!) We had the chicken and beef as we had the pork belly starter and were absolutely blown away by it. Will be returning in a couple of weeks with friends!

Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch. Two kids and five adults all very satisfied. Braised beef, roast chicken, fish & chips and belly pork all absolutely perfect, as was the service. And the kids want to give a shout out for the waffles. Empty plates all round, can’t wait to go back.

Fantasy little pub. The interior is immaculate & staff so helpful & friendly. The food we had was amazing, good price too. Service & drinks were fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, would highly recommend for food or just a drink, will definitely return.

Just had an absolutely fantastic roast - Pork Belly. Has to be the best roast dinner I’ve had in ages. Great service and well oriced

At normal pub food price, the food was not worth it's value. The service was slow and the atmosphere was very cramped. The food was okay, but nothing special.

We ordered 2 takeaway roast dinners of Uber eats. The food was absolutely delicious, after telling the restaurant that we are self isolating due to COVID they provided us with lots of free goodies and a lovely get well soon note! It’s the sort of kindness the world needs right now. The food was also piping hot and came very quickly. A fabulous restaurant, great service and lovely lovely people.

First time visiting The Albert today and honestly blown away! Always had (wrongly) assumed it was a ‘locals’ pub but went for a drink with a friend this afternoon and couldn’t believe what a hidden gem it is! The back garden is incredible, super modern, all tables are covered so you’re protected from the British weather which is a bonus. Ordering is so easy, QR codes on the tables and a simple online form, staff were lovely and made it even more of an enjoyable experience. Drink prices are reasonable and similar to most places in Hitchin. Had the scotch egg and some chips - tasted great and much better than expected for the price. Gutted I didn’t visit sooner as it’s honestly a brilliant little pub.
