The food was OK but nothing special. Very little choice on the menu for vegetarians and despite going on a sunday for a roast they said they weren't doing them. We ordered kid's fish and chips which turned up as just fish. A side of chips arrived later but we weren't sure why and when we asked the bar staff they said that was for the kids and the chef 'just decided to do it that way'. I then ordered an additional side of chips which for £6 was pretty meagre although to be fair the bar staff had warned me it would be. It wasn't a surprise that they weren't busy on a Sunday and it was definitely a shame as the last time we went there it was for a wedding 2 years ago which was a really lovely experience.

Waited at least 40 minutes for burger and chips and fish and chips in a virtually empty pub. Burger very small and cold, and a small portion of chips for £16. Disappointing as I thought we would try it after a few years of not going, rather than The Gate in Arkley which is always good. Was told it was a new menu and new chaf so was looking forward to it. Won't try again for another few years.

1st time we had been there for a while, was going past so thought we might pop in for a drink and a bite to eat There was a group of women there that were very loud you couldn't here yourself think etc So we had a beer and ordered food MISTAKE...... we ordered fish and chips and sausage and mash The sausage and mash came out 5mins before the fish and chips My mash was so lumpy it was different,it was so watered dwn that the sausages squashed it flat and with the gravy on top I needed a spoon The fish and chips finally came.... if I could have squeezed the batter I could have topped up my engine oil..... the fish was wet as they say But the chips were ok Sorry but shall not be back again

I am fuming and hungry! We went to the Adam and Eve. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. I ordered the chicken and ham pie. When it came it was small, rock hard and balanced on a mountain of chips. When I did get into it the filling was dried up. The waitress took it away and said she would ask the chef to make another one. By the time it came my companion had finished his meal. The second attempt was equally hard and inedible which I pointed out to the waitress. She called the manager who instructed her to give me my money back. So I left disgruntled and extremely hungry. It’s a shame because it’s such an attractive venue.

I had my wedding here in March and it was a fantastic day. Marcella had just taken over running the pub and was so helpful in ensuring our day ran smoothly. All the staff were friendly and professional, which added to the atmosphere of the day. The food was delicious and all our guests have told us it is the best wedding food they have ever had. I feel the Adam and Eve offered excellent value for a wedding in London. Lauren from pub weddings london was also a great help and very hands on in making sure our wedding day ran smoothly.

Today I visited the Adam & Eve pub, with my father in law (FIL), who has dementia! When we arrived there was no one else in the pub. The young barmaid asked what we wanted…. My FIL wanted a tomato juice (TJ) with Worcestershire Sauce….. The young girl was unsure why or what we wanted!? She showed us a squished open carton of TJ and said… ‘do you want this or not’! I felt that she was very rude, impolite and came across rather frustrated and unwelcoming…. What made this worse…. was that she could see that my FIL was elderly and confused… Anyway, he had a glass, but once at our table he said it tasted awful….. I tried it and it was definitely off! So I raised this with the lady in charge and she replaced it at once with a coke, which he was grateful for. As my FIL doesn’t get out much I took him here for lunch, but he doesn’t eat a great deal and he wanted fish and chips….. I inquired if they’d do him a small (child size) plate and the manager said yes, but it would have to be Cod Goujons, not the Cod Fillet…. So we said okay… However, once it arrived it looked burnt and unappetising! My FIL couldn’t even cut them open with his knife and he found it difficult to eat one with his hands…. But even worse…. There was hardly any fish inside… it was just burnt hard batter!! So again, I called the manager over and showed her what we’d been served….. To her credit, she completely agreed with me and took the food away immediately…. I said we didn’t want anything else to replace it and was ready to just leave. Just before we left, she returned with the refund for his meal and apologised, which I was extremely grateful for. However, that said….. This unexpected experience spoiled the day spending with my FIL and meant he left hungry and I was very upset and extremely dissatisfied! Therefore, my advice to the venue would be…. 1. Train young staff to be more polite when greeting their customers and learn about the drinks that you are serving…. and if you’re unable to understand or are unsure, seek the managements support and not just pour out some old stock and top it up with a fresh carton! 2. Regarding the meal…. Firstly, I was grateful to the staff for accommodating a smaller portion size meal for my FIL. However, the quality and standard of this meal should have never left the kitchen! Please note I’ve added the photo of my FIL meal! It just isn’t acceptable. I sincerely hope that these measures can be addressed and hopefully, you’ll get wonderful feedback in the future.

The girl at the bar who served us upon walking in, wasn't welcoming. Requested we give her a table number before ordering just drinks. Plan was to enjoy a lovely Sunday lunch, however decided just have a quick drink and go somewhere else local. Read good reviews about how with new ownership the pub has improved. Shame the girl serving us wasn't friendly nor welcoming to us, so we left after just one drink and won't bother coming back.

Got turned away for not being 21+ (my friend and I are both 20 and we just wanted a place to sit and chat), so did two people before us; despite the pub being completely empty. Used to love this pub but new management is making it inaccessible for the young locals; especially us who wanted to have a chill evening. My birthday is in September, but regardless I felt disregarded today, so they have lost me as a customer and, I am sure, many other young locals. Responding to Response: We had valid ID on us and are nowhere near 18 (we are 20 nearly 21)- defo not in school uniform. It is not the CHALLENGE 25 policy that is the issue (of course)- it is the fact that we were told you need to be over 21 to use the pub now...

We had a wonderful lunch here today. The new manager Andy and his team are very friendly and the service is excellent. The outdoor area is an oasis of tranquillity and the decor indoors is beautiful. We had a Caesar chicken salad, fish and chips and the beefburger - the food was top quality and the chips were the best I have ever tasted (crispy on the outside and sooo fluffy inside). The fish was cooked to perfection, the homemade croutons with the Caesar salad were an added bonus to a delicious salad with lots of chicken and my husband devoured his burger. We are definitely coming back again soon!

This pub apparently USED to be incredible… I’ve heard three people, including my partner, one of my best friends (and his mum) tell me this much… It USED TO do a fabulous Sunday roast and make a concerted effort to look after its clientele. Unfortunately they’ve had a change of ownership some time back, which seems to be reflected in the service and most definitely in the reviews All four times I’ve been here, the service has been very lacking. The staff look miserable (which speaks volumes about a place and its management) and two of the four times the beers my partner or brother have wanted have been off due to cleaning of the beer pipes. The pub has been dead all four times… We’ve been at weekends and midweek. You’d assume service might be better when a pub is quiet, but the staff aren’t particularly happy to see anyone or forthcoming. Last time I went, I noticed a massive Elderflower bush outside, that had burst into flower. It’s one of my favourite plants, so I picked a sprig to show my partner who’d never seen an elderflower tree before. I showed him the scent, and explained how to make elderflower cordial and also explained about the medicinal benefits of the berries, later in the year. Before we left, he needed to use the men’s room, so I engaged in a conversation with the pub staff whilst I waited, as the pub was completely empty, other than staff. I was well dressed and speak very well too, not that this should be relevant, but when I offered the bloom to the older man, who I assume was the manager-freeholder/tenant for the pub responded with “Are you a gypsy?! Are you going to try and sell it to me?” I was pretty affronted… I’ve nothing against the traveller and gypsy communities, but the question was rude. I’m sure a gypsy traveller would have also been affronted too actually. I responded with “do I look like a gypsy to you?” He replied “I don’t know! Maybe!” I said I was not, and was simply interested in nature and plants, and had thought they might be too. The other staff had actually demonstrated some interest, but he was extremely rude. I walked away, and told my partner when he returned as we left… He insisted on returning to speak to the older man in question… He said “excuse me, did you ask my partner if she was a gypsy?” The other staff looked away, clearly embarrassed… the man in question lied and said “no I didn’t.” I don’t enjoy confrontation, and hadn’t been entirely at ease about my partner going back, but the bare faced lie, in front of me was irritating, so I recounted exactly what he had said word for word. The man looked uncomfortable, and squirmed as he addressed my partner and said “I didn’t say that, but if I did say something you didnt like, I apologise.” My partner left it at that, but has said he’ll never go back now… in fact, he said “well, I guess I no longer have a local… As I’m never going back to that place again.” This place has so much potential… A decent beer garden, a nice big, attractive looking pub with a great deal of potential, born out by its rich reviews from a few years back, and in a lovely area… BUT they’ve clearly let it go to the dogs, with no care put into the service offering or menu, not the cooking and the customer service is ABYSMAL. The man in charge clearly has no people or customer service skills, and probably no management skills either, given how miserable his staff are. Please don’t waste your time going to this establishment. It’s not going to add anything of value to your life, and it’s as expensive as far nicer pubs in the local area.

Went in for a relaxed Sunday lunch. The guy behind the bar really struggled to put in our food orders 2 starters. 4 mains - turns out he was the manager! The waitress bought the wrong starters to our table 1st off. The correct food came soon after. Not a disaster. However, 2 of the main courses arrived before we had finished our staters and so got cold. The other 2 never arrived! We were the 1st in the garden and got pretty frustrated when evryone got served their dishes - the same as we had ordered -1st. The waitress told us it was our fault as we had ordered seperately and showed me 2 orders. She seemed confused when I pointed out it was all ordered together and paid together. Not confused enough to apolgise though. The manager was alone behind the bar, although there seemed to be at least 3 waiting staff and it wasn't busy. When I came out to complain, 30 minutes after the 1st 2 mains arrived he asked me to go back in the garden and he would come out to sort a refund. 10 minutes later he was still serving behind the bar. His attitude was that things go wrong sometimes and seemed not to understand why. Basically tough luck! certainly not an apology. I demanded a refund, but he said he couldn't as I hadn't asked for a card receipt!!! I got a full refund from my credit card company. Terrible service and the one thing that did arrive tasted weird and I was concerned I was going to get food poisoning! After reading the reviews here it seems someone else did get food poisoning! I wouldn't eat here until they sort it out! Also the responses from management to some of these reviews really miss the msrk. Not a recipe for success. Utterly disappointed with the service we received yesterday. My 8 month old baby made a small mess on the floor as I was feeding him, the waitress approached our table and in a disgusted tone stated 'you have no respect for this place' and walked off. As I asked her what she was implying she continued to be very rude, pointing to the floor and creating a scene. I was very upset with this waitress, as I had just been trying my best to feed an irritable baby. Her comments were completely unnecessary. Clearly not a 'baby friendly' pub if the staff have issues with clearing crumbs a baby may make. I hope the waitress reflects on her behaviour and attitude, and does not communicate with other customers like this in the future. Will certainly not be returning here again.

He was typing on his laptop for five minutes as we waited at the bar for drinks. This was even after we had politely asked him twice. After we had finished our first pint we went to the bar again to get the second round in. The barman told us he had just put the beer taps through a cleaning process and that it would take forty minutes until they were ready. Bear in mind this was at half past eight in the evening. We decided to leave at this point. Will not come back again. Worst pub experience I’ve ever had. Obnoxious and rude doesn’t cover it.

Met up for a family Sunday Lunch gathering, 10 adults and 3 infants. When our Sunday roasts arrived the food was cold and we all returned it to be heated up. The food reappeared hotter but not 'roasting hot'; we were told to be careful as the plates were very hot.....they were only barely warm. 36 hours later illness set in; first diner started to vomit and it carried on through the night, early hours of the morning and through to noon. Diner 2 spent Tuesday morning on the bathroom floor, missed work and lost a day's pay. Diner 3 sick throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday - not terribly helpful as she had three children under two and a half to care for! All were from different households and had one thing in common - Sunday roast together at the Adam and Eve, Mill Hill. Pork and chicken were the culprits. We were told that we would receive a refund but when we went to collect it, were told it was only offered for the three diners who were ill.; misleading as we were given the impression that it would be a full refund. Felt sorry for the manager who, when we rang and met him again in-person was clearly embarrassed and apologetic but said that it was the decision of the owner. I have noted numerous responses from the pub owner who, when faced with online criticism, said that the feedback would help them to improve their offer but clearly such responses were 'empty words!' And we left a tip! We value our health and won't be returning. Ever!

Myself and my wife went earlier and ordered the fish and chips meal. Not only was it incredibly overpriced, we also both got food poisoning from the meal. Awful experience. Edit: here’s an update ! The manager gave me a call and stated that he can’t offer me any refund or reasonable compensation for a meal that gave me and my wife food poisoning. After confirming the timeframe and that we did eat there, he stated that because our symptoms began four hours after eating there, it was not “in the rules” to offer any compensation, as food poisoning “only sets in 12 hours after eating” (which is obviously wrong and disingenuous.) He also said he can’t escalate my complaint further. Thanks for the help.

Went today for 30th birthday meal I carnt explain fully the extent of the most unorganised meal out I’ve ever experienced in my life, drove down from Bournemouth really looking forward to this family gathering but was not a good experience, there was about 15 of us there was no welcome on entrance to pub to tell us where to sit & no body to tell us how we order no table service, so we all order our food & after a very long time some of the food arrives I start eating my food not only is it cold broccoli was raw then only to spot a hair right across my plate so my boyfriend goes to complain & a very aggressive waitress comes over & im made to feel like I’m a nuisance she asks me do I want to reorder so I say I need to look at the menu again then the dosent return to ask what I would like no apology or anything a member of my family gave me half of her burger 3 people from our party received no food at all when asking aver a hour later where there food was to be told they didn’t order any food omg everyone else had long ate & they then said they had run out of the food they had ordered so decided to get a refund & get a takeaway on way home I understand they was buzy but total lack of any apology completely ignorant of what was going on at the table shocking service totally ruined a birthday meal management need to address this service & comunication with its diners we will never return.

Lovely local pub! Expansive beer garden with plenty of seating. The pub spans across two floors, with loads of space. Good selection of drinks behind the bar. Great range of food at reasonable prices, the small plates are delicious. Friendly staff and lovely open fireplace to stay warm.

What has happened to the Adam and Eve, it used to be a great pub. I have been twice since COVID at lunchtime and it's almost empty. I had to send the Ghost Ship back, it was vinegar and most items on the menu were not available. Great shame.

Lovely pub, nice outdoor space, sadly worst roast I’ve had in london in a long time. Tough, dry overcooked beef, soggy over cooked veg, chewy roast potatoes and overly salty gravy. On the plus side, the service was friendly!

Nice pub and beer garden but unfortunately the food is really awful. The roast beef was almost inedible and the potatoes were definitely frozen. Shame as service was good

Can only assume there has been a change of management in the last year as standards have sadly dropped. Eaten here twice and food was disappointing on both occasions

We had an evening meal and few drinks 2 days ago...our first time for some years. The food was really good (Chicken burger, ceasar salad), service was friendly and efficient with good selection of beers...and the apple pie was amazing! Thanks to Anna and Voltak

So disappointed! We’ve been coming here for many years and always enjoyed the roast! Today the food went back 3 times! Starter came with main course. Twice we asked for rare beef - each time came out cremated! The quality of the food was awful. The roasties were re-heated and soggy. The veggies were frozen! Our friends had the salmon that was over cooked! Why has this gone down so badly! No manager on site to talk to! Won’t be returning any time soon!

A beer, a wine and a double g&t was £30 … we’ve lived in the area for 2 years and have been visiting this pub all this time and it’s now become so expensive. It’s a lovely pub but the price increase is quite unjustified…

Friendly pub - the locals and the staff. They were only serving pizzas so didn’t eat lots of dogs in the pub - but this didn’t bother us.
