Harvester The Jolly Badger in Barnet

We had dinner at Harvester last night and unfortunately, it was a really underwhelming experience. Our server, Maisie, seemed completely disinterested in serving us. There was a noticeable of engagement throughout the evening, and at times her attitude came across as borderline rude. It’s such a shame because we were really looking forward to the meal, but the service left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. A friendly and attentive server makes such a difference, and sadly that was missing during our visit.

My 81 year old dad birthday voucher had expired which was 7 days after his birthday...I think harvester should review this policy and allow the voucher to work within a birthday month eg if your birthday is in May then csn use it in May..

My recent trip to Harvesters was, I'm afraid to say, quite a frustrating experience from start to finish. My dining companion and I initially fancied sitting outside, but as it turned a bit chilly, we asked if we could possibly move indoors. Now, despite there being plenty of empty tables inside (honestly, only a couple were reserved, and it was a quiet weekday afternoon, so hardly peak time), we were told point blank by the staff that we couldn't move as we'd already ordered and hadn't made a booking. We were merely offered a spot in the bar area, which was, frankly, less than ideal. This rigid policy, especially with all those vacant tables, felt terribly unaccommodating and, dare I say, a bit off-putting. The service didn't exactly improve, either. Our food arrived before our drinks, which is always a sign of a bit of a muddle, isn't it? When I popped over to the bar to place the order, the waitress there was rather difficult to get a word in with; spoke in a very low, mumbling voice and didn't make eye contact at all, making it quite hard to communicate what we wanted. And to top it all, they didn't even serve my drinks when I ordered them there. Then, when the food arrived before our drinks, my partner had to go and ask for them. And even then, they didn't even give me a glass for my bottled beer, so I had to get up and go inside again just to ask for one! And then, to cap it all, the manager's refusal to let us move to a proper table inside, even when the restaurant was clearly not busy and wouldn't be getting so any time soon, was utterly baffling. It just showed a total disregard for customer comfort and satisfaction. All in all, the sheer lack of flexibility from the management and the rather inattentive service made for a thoroughly miserable lunch. Frankly, when the service is this shoddy, you start to wonder what the point is in even complaining – you certainly couldn't be bothered to be refused again or offered another lame excuse. I certainly wouldn't recommend this particular Harvesters based on this experience; next time, I'd rather just pop over to a Beefeater or Toby Carvery instead.

The service was fast and friendly, the place looks cozy and comfortable, quite welcoming. The atmosphere was okay, I think that they had soft music in the background. I wasn't that happy with the food, I had half a rotisserie chicken for take away, and it wasn't fully cooked, it had bloody areas inside, I had to cook it further myself

5.2.25 Tasty fish & chips & salad served by friendly staff in a cosy & clean environment . However the toilets are in need of strong bleach to dissolve filthy stains in the WC!

Maybe a bit overpriced for the quality and the service they're offering, but otherwise a nice place to have breakfast or spend the evening with friends.

We went to this harvester on the first bank holiday in May We arrived at 6pm and it wasn't busy, but it got busier at 7pm 🕖 Our waiter was Ben and he gave great service The food was great We had a great meal 🍴 Recommended dishes: Haddock and chips

Great restaurant with fantastic food

I recently visited Harvester with my family, and the food was great as expected. What really made the experience stand out was the excellent service from our server, a young lady named Keelie. She mentioned she was recently new, but you’d never have known it—she was kind, patient, and incredibly efficient, especially when it came to handling my nut allergy. I really appreciated the care she took to make sure everything was safe. Her professionalism and friendly attitude made our visit even more enjoyable. A great meal and an even better service!

Do not go here if you are expecting efficient service - our table was booked at 18:45 and we left at 2100. It was not busy and there were plenty of empty tables. When we finally got seated and served, we ordered our food which was lovely. The only good thing about the experience. Do not get the berry blast sundae if you want a sundae - it consisted of 4 blueberries, 1 cut up strawberry and ice cream. Not a "sundae" in my opinion, especially given the price of £7.49!

We had high hopes for The Jolly Badger, but unfortunately, our visit was ruined by the incompetence of the management. The manager clearly has no understanding of dogs or how to handle nervous dogs in a compassionate or professional way. Instead of showing empathy or offering any kind of support, we were kicked out because our dog was a bit nervous — not aggressive, just uneasy — following a complaint. It’s incredibly disappointing to see such a lack of awareness in what’s supposed to be a dog-friendly venue. If you truly care about animals or expect staff to have even a basic understanding of canine behavior, I’d advise looking elsewhere. We won’t be back.

I dropped in just because I fancied a salad. Kaye was super helpful and very friendly. My vegan burger was tasty. The salad is always good. The chips were dire. But it's cheap and good.

From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a warm, welcoming smile and a genuine enthusiasm that made us feel right at home. Her attention to detail was impeccable, ensuring that every part of our meal was perfect. She anticipated our needs without being overbearing and was quick to offer recommendations from the menu, all of which turned out to be excellent choices. Not only was her service efficient and professional, but it was also evident that she truly enjoys what she does, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Julie was an amazing server at breakfast and very attentive and informative about things that we can do next time with the breakfast etc.

My partner and I came for drinks. The lovely Jasmine served us but was very overwhelmed before this behind the bar. A manager named Nastè then came to help Jamie with something behind the bar and neglected to serve any other customer stating she doesn't take food orders and neglected to serve anyone else. I felt she was rude towards customers and ultimately left jasmine to handle everyone at the bar herself! Really well done to Jasmine for her hard work and perseverance.

The service was incredible, such a shame the food was so bad. The standard has dropped completely, the coleslaw smelt tasted sour and off and smelt, same with the potato salad. Bread was soft and stale, the pasta was dry and the ribs lacked sauceService from Julie was the only thing that made it a good experience.

Both times we have visited we were served by Julie who provided top-tier service. The food was also great.

It's fine. Somewhere to have a drink in Edgware. Staff are friendly. It's open to kids which is convenient for some people. Not too expensive.

Amazing lady Julie and amazing service

We chose this restaurant for a simple yet special dinner after our proposal, requesting a small table setup—perhaps a candle or a flower. Unfortunately, there was no effort made to accommodate this. The service was underwhelming. Our server rarely checked in, struggled to remember simple requests, and took an excessive amount of time to bring us the card payment terminal. We eventually had to find another server to pay. She also seemed overwhelmed, repeatedly forgetting a request from the table next to us, delaying their meal unnecessarily. As for the food, the only highlight was the salad bar, which was well-stocked and clean, though the sauces were disorganized, with missing labels. The nachos lacked cheese, my steak was completely flavorless, and my fiancé’s grilled chicken was overly charred, overpowering any natural flavor. We had to rely on salt, pepper, and even ketchup just to make the meal somewhat enjoyable. The atmosphere was basic—not bad, but nothing memorable either. Overall, this was a disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a special evening. We won’t be returning.

We originally booked the Windmill in Bushey for Mother’s Day and after turning up were told that we were on a waiting list and they had no idea when and if they could seat us, despite the fact we’d received 2 emails and a text confirming our booking. (I was told this was a problem caused by head office and not the restaurant itself). We left and called the Jolly Badger in Edgware and spoke to Mark who managed to accommodate us. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent even though they were extremely busy. Our waitress Asha was really attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning to the Jolly Badger Harvester in Edgware. Thank you Mark and Asha and all the staff at Edgware for accommodating us and an enjoyable evening.

We went on Friday evening. The food was overdue. The baked potato tasted bad, like it was baked one day before and only heated when ordered. The range of salad was very bad.. nothing fresh and tasty. Waste of money. Will never go again there.

We went just as it opened and it was fairly quiet during that time. It looks like a place good to eat with kids/family during the day, they have a variety of options, free unlimited salad, food was great. There is bar area separate from dining area.

Staff were so rude. We had an awful waitress. Bar staff were equally rude. It's expensive for what it is, I would at the very least expect good service.

I always make the effort to go to this harvester with my daughter at least once a month because I've always had great tasting food from there but today my burger was not right it was over cook and there was a hair in the prawns just put us off going there again

5 stars service to Nasta! First, she proactively helped us to accommodate our 18 persons to two big tables in a close area. It made us to enjoy the dinner together tonight! The food was good, however some parts of the mixed grill were dry (chicken). Great service from Asha who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.

We had a great lunch today. There was plenty on the plate and everything was cooked well. We were served by K, who was really efficient and friendly. We couldn't have asked for more. We will visit again when we are next in the area.
