We absolutely love the Bald Faced Stag, and we held a 40th birthday party there last night. As always, service was great. They made sure we were well looked after. Platters of food were super tasty too.

Visited for lunch today and found the food to be quite underwhelming. Both main dishes were very heavily seasoned with salt especially potatoes on the roast - roast lamb contained bits of cartilage and burger was still pink inside which I ended up leaving quite a bit of as I didn’t feel comfortable eating it. Sausage roll was quite tasty. Overall, do not think the food is worth the price - also seemed like quite a slow service which may be suited to some but I believe this could have been better.

Did not have any food so can’t comment on that, but thought the bottle cider was expensive and for 3 people serving behind the bar, it took them a long time to get to me and served other people that came in after me They did have a singer who was really good, so don’t know if that’s every Friday night but definitely worth a visit

Overall experience was good as always at the pub, however the food experience is less positive and appears to have declined in recent times. Ordered a vegan burger, which costs £18 and it was completely overdone and burnt. The burger itself isn't particularly great compared to some better quality plant based ones out there, so this only adds to the poor taste. Overall, great for drinks but very average food (for the price)

Went here for a birthday party. Cannt comment on food but drink prices are quite steep. Guinness is of poor taste (5/10 in my opinion) and it is not well advertised but it costs less to buy a bottle of wine than to have two separate glasses of wine. Staff were nice and i enjoyed the ‘classic with a modern twist’ vibe. Always love a matching hand wash and hand lotion situation in the ladies bathroom

Decent pub. My review is mostly for the quiz, which was great - good spread of questions and well presented - but the prize money on that night was the same (or potentially less) than the mid quiz 'round of drinks' question. My feedback for a almost-great-quiz would be to make the wining pot a bit bigger so the two-hour endeavour is worth it, even on a quiet night (without having to risk it all on a 1-3 chance of the rollover pot. We lost. Not bitter) Otherwise, very good.

This used to be a five stars, but after a recent experience, I’ve had to downgrade it to one star. My partner and I recently moved to the area, and this pub was our go-to spot because we loved the atmosphere and drinks. However, everything changed during our last visit. A few days ago, I arrived early with my dog to celebrate a special occasion. I ordered a drink while waiting for my partner and chose an empty table that didn’t have a “reserved” sign. After about 20 minutes, when my partner arrived and we were ready to order, a group of elder persons approached us, claiming the table was theirs due to a reservation and they indeed had the table next to us. They were quite rude and insisted we leave, even though they acknowledged they had more people than their reservation originally specified. We called the staff and they seemed overwhelmed, helpless and diminished in presence after the group of older persons became rude and very persuasive. They ultimately asked us to vacate the table. With no other tables available and it getting late, we had no choice but to leave and went to another pub instead. This experience was incredibly disappointing, especially given the lack of support from the staff. It felt as though we were dismissed without consideration. Luckily there are more pubs in the area with outstanding cuisine.

I haven't been before and as I really fancied a Sunday Roast, I thought I'd try it and find out. It's a lovely pub with a really nice restaurant area that was spacious and I felt had a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The service from each member of staff that I spoke with, was fantastic, which really made me feel welcome. They were friendly and helpful and happy to have a chat and a laugh. I ordered the Roast Lamb with trimmings and I really enjoyed it. I then had the chocolate sponge with orange on top and white chocolate custard on the side (I think I've remembered it correctly), which was really tasty. The staff were quite happy for me to have it a while later, after my dinner had digested a bit, which was so appreciated. It was a lovely evening out and I'm definitely going to be going back for a Sunday dinner there in the near future. A really enjoyable experience. Thank you to all the Front of House Team and the Chef's. 😊

We went to the Bald Faced Stag with some friends for a spontaneous chill evening with some nice drinks and food. Being located at a major road it's quick to get to and quite easily accessible. Also given it's on a busy road, the outside area is fairly calm and invites for a nice cool drink on a warm evening! The bar staff war very nice, greeted us warmly and was quick to advise and serve. We also had some food from the daily menus. It's definitely on the pricier side - paying about £20 for a pie is quite expensive! I've had the meat and bone marrow pie which was delicious! It comes with a big bone inside the pie - don't forget to mix in the marrow otherwise it's a bit awkward. It was nicely paired with mash potatoes and cabbage. We also ordered some desserts. I tried to order the Peach Melba Knickerbocker glory - turns out they didn't have any crr left so couldn't serve it (odd one to not have on an early Friday evening - someone could just pop to the shop to get more cream?). My wife got the last one and the rare cream tasted a bit mouldy, so didn't miss anything! I got the tiramisu in the end. Sadly, the only similarity with a classic tiramisu is the name - it was somewhat a mixture of creme cheese, raspberry compote, dough and molasses? It ended up being wasted since I couldn't get myself to eat it - some classics shouldn't be tempered with! Overall, nice pubs for drinks, sitting outside and having a savoury bite if you're not on a budget. Don't try the desert, it'll make you sad.

One of my favourite places to go when I'm in town. Lovely atmosphere. Staff are always so friendly and a great garden area too.

We have recently visited this pub after stumbling upon it when we came out of the train station nearby. Adele couldn’t have done more for us and was very accommodating with all of our questions and needs throughout serving us. We felt that my husbands allergies were taken seriously which in turn put our minds at ease and this is definitely on our list of places we would like to return to in the near future! A bonus was that when we visited they had some live music on which was great to listen to!! Will be back again.

The Stag is always my go to pub. The staff are so friendly and there is always an amazing atmosphere. The music on a Friday night is such a great way to end the week!

Popped in on Sunday with my wife for a roast. Have to say the roast pork was absolutely delicious, my wife had the roast beef which was juicy and not overdone, what was best when asking for extra gravy we weren’t charged additionally for this!! My wife being from the north extra gravy is always required and have been charged upwards of £8 for this in other establishments, so very happy on this occasion, will return again! If only for extra gravy!!

We hired a room here after my Mum’s funeral at nearby St Marylebone Crematorium and the food as excellent. Very varied choice of food that was still edible after a couple of hours. The pub as quiet and the room was perfect for what we wanted.

Service at the bar is dreadful. Although the place is three quarters empty getting served before the rag tag gaggle of locals is very difficult. I waited an unreasonable length of time and decided to leave...as I was going out the door the awful person allegedly serving behind said my pint was ready, however, being treat as a secondary is not acceptable. I left with no intention of returning for crap service and £5.30 a pint. Don't recommend this place unless you talk shite and live around the corner.

Poor food, awful service and hopeless management . Saturday evening and the place was heaving. The car park was full and there were several large tables of guests celebrating birthdays. Not a great start. We found a table in the large conservatory and waited to be served. A friendly, young girl who admitted was working here for the first week came over and asked if we would like to order drinks. I asked for a wine list and this seemed to startle her. She returned with a printed list but had to find a colleague when I asked which wines came by the glass. We also asked for a jug of tap water and a spicy tomato juice. The jug of water was just enough to fill the four small glasses and was never offered to be replaced. The tomato juice had no spice at all and when queried a different waitress brought bottles of Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce as they leave it to the customer to add it themselves. My glass of wine had to be returned as there were several things floating in it. We waited ages for the food order to be taken and eventually our starters arrived. My haloumi chips were cold and soggy. The potato skins were cold and tasteless. The main courses were no better. My slow cooked Portobello beef comprised four 3 cm cubes of tough lukewarm chunks of beef served on a dollop of mashed potato and some beans. It was awful and I left most of it. My wife’s steak was hard and also cold and she left the majority. Our guests also did not finish their meals. The conservatory was often devoid of any waiting staff but occasionally had five young waitresses standing with their backs to the guests chatting away to each other. On two occasions we had to leave the table to get someone to attend. The manager, who greeted us on our arrival was never seen again. In all it took three hours for us to finish our very poor meal but we were quicker than the neighbouring table, where after waiting more than an hour for their starters were told that the order had somehow not reached the kitchen. We said how poor the meal and service had been, but this just brought a curt sorry and an embarrassed smile. No visit from the ever missing manager. Never again.
