2 roast lambs with accompanying vegetables. Kale was tough (underdone?). Not the best lamb I have ever had. We were first in dining room so service was excellent. Grandson’s chocolate ice cream one scoop in a glass dish was underwhelming. Had to tell the till operator to add our drinks to the bill (there’s honesty for you!).

We went here for a birthday treat and to do the quiz. The guy at the front of house forgot about our booking moved us into the restaurant where we couldn’t do the quiz then moved us outside then moved us back inside. Despite me stating on my booking 1 week prior that we were there for food and the quiz. The management of our booking and forcing us to sit in the cold was appalling. We weren’t offered anything in return for the terrible treatment. Don’t waste your money on such a rude business.

We went to the Bald Faced Stag with some friends for a spontaneous chill evening with some nice drinks and food. Being located at a major road it's quick to get to and quite easily accessible. Also given it's on a busy road, the outside area is fairly calm and invites for a nice cool drink on a warm evening! The bar staff war very nice, greeted us warmly and was quick to advise and serve. We also had some food from the daily menus. It's definitely on the pricier side - paying about £20 for a pie is quite expensive! I've had the meat and bone marrow pie which was delicious! It comes with a big bone inside the pie - don't forget to mix in the marrow otherwise it's a bit awkward. It was nicely paired with mash potatoes and cabbage. We also ordered some desserts. I tried to order the Peach Melba Knickerbocker glory - turns out they didn't have any crr left so couldn't serve it (odd one to not have on an early Friday evening - someone could just pop to the shop to get more cream?). My wife got the last one and the rare cream tasted a bit mouldy, so didn't miss anything! I got the tiramisu in the end. Sadly, the only similarity with a classic tiramisu is the name - it was somewhat a mixture of creme cheese, raspberry compote, dough and molasses? It ended up being wasted since I couldn't get myself to eat it - some classics shouldn't be tempered with! Overall, nice pubs for drinks, sitting outside and having a savoury bite if you're not on a budget. Don't try the desert, it'll make you sad.

I've left a review before and have always liked the bald face stag but rewriting one as we went on Monday evening and the food was GORGEOUS! We ordered loads of starters and bar snacks for 4 of us and every plate was scrapped clean. The mushroom crumpet, thousand layer potatoes and chicken pate profiteroles make up for the fact they've taken the buffalo wings off the menu. Very impressed 👏

Even though The Stag was packed for fathers day, I met up with a large group of friends to have our annual get-together. What a way to lick off the Summer, great drinks, very cool staff and the garden was just perfect. Ive never written a review in my life but this had to be done. I'll be back for every year and perhaps the sun (which until then had refused to shine for more than a few minutes), will create the best start for the summer month. Sunshine and sensational afternoons fun!

I have no problem with this pub in general but I have seen lots of dogS sitting on the furniture/cushions etc and even one wetting themselves on a chair. I now see the pub is actively promoting this by hashtagging about 20 times a picture of an admittedly lovely dog lounging on a wingback. I genuinely love dogs but it isnt hygienic especially when people are eating. PLEASE STOP ENCOURAGING/ALLOWING SUCH LOVELY ANIMALS TO USE THE FURNITURE! I've been to the restaurant several times. Normally okay. Last night was awful. The two main courses we wanted were both off the menu for the evening. This is a nice, local East Finchley pub that's well run and covers all of the bases. There's a restaurant serving decent food, the range of beers on tap is pretty good, it's not so noisy that you can't have a conversation and they host a wide range of interesting events. I was in this pub last night and even though I love live music the guy that was playing was exceptionally loud, I was shouting over at my partner the whole night. Also at the end of the night a lady went up and spoke to him, presumably to request a song. He shouted at her ‘I don’t do ******* requests’. She walked away a little upset. When he had finished his set he again shouted out ‘Do I look like a ******* jukebox’. I think his manner was despicable and management should have a word.

It’s a lovely dining room at the Bald Face Stag but unfortunately the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. We had two very lovely servers but service was slow and when we questioned why our brownies didn’t have the coffee ice cream & honeycomb advertised, another member of staff told us we’d ordered the children’s version which only came with vanilla. We didn’t. But accepted this and ate it. But when the bill came, surprise surprise we’d been charged full price for the brownies. When I asked the same member of staff about it, she just took bull and changed it to kids. No apology, nothing. And we suspect other diners were being given this pudding and being charged full price. Dishonest, underhand and bad customer service on her part. Don’t think we’ll be going back for food which is a shame as it used to be really good.

I have never seen the gate so empty and the food and drink more expensive than my last visit this year and not much of it although, it was cooked well. Also, some customers, a group of men in their 30/40s were quite intimidating and using the womens toilets and taking their drinks out on the road side of car park and urinating in the street, did not exactly add to the appeal to visit in the near future. Staff lovely and friendly. Maybe tweek the menu with some of the old traditional menu, lower the price on some dishes and make toilets safer so children and women dont feel intimidated and uneasy.
