It is a quiet back Street pub. Plenty of people but the interia is perfect for small groups to chat, with a low background noise level.

We had a pint after a busy weekend working and had a warm welcome, really well kept beer, and relaxing uplifting music playing. Comfy atmosphere for a chat, just a shame not to see more people making use of this hidden jewel.

This is a cosy pub... I'm loving the Halloween decorations especially the bat (photo) 😅 I met the owners and staff as I completed my work....Really nice people. The lord Nelson is everything you need or want from your local pub. I love quirky and the multitude of novelty salt and pepper pots are a great touch.(photos) Finally It has a large amount of outside seating. I was there at dusk and the outside lighting makes it look stunning... This is a beautiful building with great people at the helm.... A real down to earth local boozer. 😎

Was working the bar for 3 years, '96 - '98! Great guv' I had then with his Mrs. Guess the old jukebox is gone!! Had lots of fun with the regular guys, Mel, Derek, Tony, Linda & Ray, my golf buddy! A pub as it should always be. Wonderful memories!! ❤️👍🙏

Rude staff and no atmosphere, no wonder you only get a handful of people in there, won’t be long before it’s finished as the staff do their best to make you feel unwelcome

A true backstreet local which is always great to see. The keg and cask options were a decent selection too and well kept. They were along the lines of what a Young’s hostelry would be serving. Homemade sandwiches also seemed to be on offer in the fridge. The landlady and locals were all very friendly too. The pub was well maintained and spotless to boot. There is a nice outdoor area at the front, which was nice to relax in when sunny. The beers were very reasonable which does make you wonder why the bigger chains charge a small fortune these days. Worth supporting this local if you’re nearby.

This is just a fantastic cozy little local; decor is gorgeous, pub is spotlessly clean, and the lady behind the bar couldn't have been more accommodating to us. Sadly, food needs to be pre-ordered and parking is on-street.

Still a great local pub. Beer is tip top as usual, punters are a friendly local bunch. Recently tackified by an unnecessary redec, proper pub tables have been replaced by tables with tops that I couldn't work out whether they were timber or IKEA style foil. Painted wallpaper has been replaced by a plank effect printed wallpaper which only made me ask 'why?' They have kept some features which now look out of place with the new decor. It's exactly the same underneath, same beer, brewery, punters, staff. I think someone was given some bad style advice.

This boozer is stuck in the 70s. No character or charm. It is dreary. Bar staff not really efficient and not very welcoming. Frosty reception. Don't go the extra half mile. Bar prices fluctuate. Not my cup of tea!could do a lot better. Definately would not return or recommend. Only plus point it is clean.

A pub that is part of the Youngs Brewary chain. I quite like the beer in here, but am often put off by the regulars who hang around the bar. Place could do with a good spruce up. In balance a good pub for a quick couple.

This is a bit of a locals pub, but we were welcomed and choose Youngs from a good selection of beers. The pub is tastefully decorated and should be included as pop in for a pint on a visit to Barnet.

Sunday Lunch at The Nelson is always a great affair, this time it was extra special, as it was the last meal being cooked by the Landlady, who is retiring to live on a Houseboat. She assured us she has passed on her skills to the next generation, so the quality and quantity will be maintained. Happy Lock hopping!

If there was ever a perfect representation of a British residential pub, this is it. Dee runs a sharp ship - beer's excellent, food's available 'till there's none left!'. No loud music, friendly local atmosphere, quiz nights once a week. Excellent web site tells you the rest. Lovely small table area out the front to catch the last of the sun in the evening. Wonderful interior crammed full of brasses, salt and pepper pots and other knick-knacks.

Could not be more comfortable and homely, with my favourite cider always available, a very matey feel to the whole place. Delighted with the live entertainment (McGoozer) a couple weeks ago, couldn't do better. But please, someone, for the love of all that is holy, the loo needs to be bleached down and aired out, anyone within six yards of the men's room door was choking on the fumes from what smelled like an eternity of urine-based ammonia. Won't stop me returning, but will definitely sit nearer to the front of house! ;-)

We absolutely love the Bald Faced Stag, and we held a 40th birthday party there last night. As always, service was great. They made sure we were well looked after. Platters of food were super tasty too.

Service at the bar is dreadful. Although the place is three quarters empty getting served before the rag tag gaggle of locals is very difficult. I waited an unreasonable length of time and decided to leave...as I was going out the door the awful person allegedly serving behind said my pint was ready, however, being treat as a secondary is not acceptable. I left with no intention of returning for crap service and £5.30 a pint. Don't recommend this place unless you talk shite and live around the corner.

Poor food, awful service and hopeless management . Saturday evening and the place was heaving. The car park was full and there were several large tables of guests celebrating birthdays. Not a great start. We found a table in the large conservatory and waited to be served. A friendly, young girl who admitted was working here for the first week came over and asked if we would like to order drinks. I asked for a wine list and this seemed to startle her. She returned with a printed list but had to find a colleague when I asked which wines came by the glass. We also asked for a jug of tap water and a spicy tomato juice. The jug of water was just enough to fill the four small glasses and was never offered to be replaced. The tomato juice had no spice at all and when queried a different waitress brought bottles of Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce as they leave it to the customer to add it themselves. My glass of wine had to be returned as there were several things floating in it. We waited ages for the food order to be taken and eventually our starters arrived. My haloumi chips were cold and soggy. The potato skins were cold and tasteless. The main courses were no better. My slow cooked Portobello beef comprised four 3 cm cubes of tough lukewarm chunks of beef served on a dollop of mashed potato and some beans. It was awful and I left most of it. My wife’s steak was hard and also cold and she left the majority. Our guests also did not finish their meals. The conservatory was often devoid of any waiting staff but occasionally had five young waitresses standing with their backs to the guests chatting away to each other. On two occasions we had to leave the table to get someone to attend. The manager, who greeted us on our arrival was never seen again. In all it took three hours for us to finish our very poor meal but we were quicker than the neighbouring table, where after waiting more than an hour for their starters were told that the order had somehow not reached the kitchen. We said how poor the meal and service had been, but this just brought a curt sorry and an embarrassed smile. No visit from the ever missing manager. Never again.
