We were cloud 9 and it was still bad. Pani puri was good, everything else was… distasteful. Not real naan,

Absolutely not. Imagine a school lunch tray with bits of curry and rice on it Miniscule portions of badly tasting curry Tiny portion of bread Less rice than a Tesco tikka masala Then they charge you £17 for this abomination Go anywhere else for better, cheaper food. Place was dead. Staff had less enthusiasm than metro late shift.

Sandyford review. Overwhelmed with how fantastic this place is. Relaxed but efficient service. Lovely ambiance with a great vibe. Drinks menu had something for everyone. And then there’s the food! Wow! Just wow. The Tuesday night Thali Tray deal is immense and very filling indeed. Need to go back to work my way through the menu. Would highly recommend.

Expensive, too creamy not so authentic taste. They also add small amount to bill, which I noticed and ask to be corrected. This is the 2nd time I came across like this.

I'm away with work at the moment and wanted to try somewhere new, but I've got an injured ankle so didn't fancy walking too far from the hotel. I came across this online and liked the menu. I got the deal where you get a bit of everything, and oh my world it is stunning! It came super quick, and apart from the dessert (I'm not a fan of Indian desserts or pistachios) everything was perfect. Waiter who served me was absolutely lovely. I did upgrade the nan bread and I'm so glad I did. Highly recommend coming, just make sure you starve yourself all day. This place is very good value for money!

As a group we took advantage of the very generous restaurant week menu which included a starter, thali, side, bread and pudding for £20. The portion sizes were incredibly generous and the decor in Bealim House was lovely. The staff were very attentive and patient with our large group too. The thali options pushed me to order something new and there is the option to buy a portion of yoghurt to cool down some of the dishes if you’re not good with spice like me!

Wow I was lost for words with how good the curry was. Firstly the place is in a great location and part of a cool building with a bar downstairs for a pre drink. The staff are really friendly and helpful with the menu. We went of the restaurant week menu. The food came out at a good pace and was the perfect temperature along with being cooked to perfection. The goan curry tray was unreal. Juicy meats with a flavour explosion. Puri bread was light, fluffy and refreshing. The pistachio dessert was a little small but a nice smooth and cool way to finish after the main.

Visited the Sandyford restaurant, 4 adults during restaurant week (week 1). Super chilled decor, very good service and good value for money. Good atmosphere without being super busy. The food was interesting and, as first timers , we appreciated the knowledgeable waiter’s run down of our choices. Overall a really lovely evening with good food . Shoutout to the cauliflower starter dish which stole the show.

FOOD IS PATHETIC HERE, we ordered 7 thali's .. all the curries were Salty and tasteless. After driving 3 hours and eating this food had made my day worse. We complained several times and everytime staff said we Will inform the kitchen. Be careful before you visit this place..

Fabulous, as always. Thali Tray is our ‘go to’ spot for Brunch and they never fail to impress every time. It’s always the first place we bring visiting friends before, or after a night out. Warm welcoming staff, excellent food, buzzing atmosphere - just go!

Pork vindaloo and Cauliflower taster were delicious - Lively atmosphere, great vibe. Can’t wait to return and taste the rest of the menu.

Our first visit to Thali Tray, Bealim House but it certainly won’t be the last. The standard of the food was nothing but excellent, obviously high quality ingredients used. The idea if a ‘little bit of everything’ on one tray is very different but so wonderful!! The flavours are different but blend together beautifully. We found the place very welcoming and the staff and service, tremendous!! Thank you Thali!!

Just been here as part of a large party for Sunday brunch. Lovely building fantastic friendly service. I had to e kipper kedgeree which was lovely however I’d suggest either a smaller portion of rice or an extra poached egg as it got a little dry to the bottom. However everyone else’s choices looked amazing too and I will definitely be back to sample more of the menu

Amazing food and atmosphere, took a large group of 25 here this week, they couldn’t have been more accommodating for us, service was top notch.

Visited for dinner with four friends at 20:00 and they said the food is over, and its the send time experiencing the same thing, Really need to change your timing and put it as 8 o clock we closes.

Thali Tray is a great venue for an evening out. The food is good, as is the drink. The service is fine too - happy, friendly, helpful staff! Apart from that, it's refreshing to find a restaurant in Newcastle that charges sensible prices for a serious amount of good food.

Atmospheres and food quality is very good but very limited options to chose from for sides and mains. Lots of beer options though! :)

As someone that struggles to make choices thali tray is right up my street! Really tasty food! Sounds daft but the bread is incredible. The Currys will not blow your head off, they are on the milder side of medium but they are packed with flavour!

We took our Mother here as it was her birthday and she absolutely loved it, in fact we all did! This place has a great rustic vibe about it, the bar downstairs makes for a great starting point and then upstairs to the restaurant. The food is of a great quality and unique with it's Tray theme. If I could add anything then it would be to have just or two additional options for the mains, otherwise what's on offer was very nice! We'd all definitely visit Thali Tray again.

I really didn't enjoy the food. I had the vegetarian Thali tray for £20 which includes a set menu of poppadoms, a main tray and dessert. Although the food was seasoned it was horrible, inedible, mushy (as though it was all blended together) and the taste wasn't right. I didn't enjoy any of the food, even the rice! The food was clearly mass produced and microwaved as it came with a film on top. The chutney with the poppadoms was cold and one seperated as we were eating it. We also got told to leave at 9pm as they were closing, despite their closing time online being 10.30. I definitely wouldn't return. There are much much better Indian restaurants around.

I've been here a few times, not a huge choice but a nice selection and great for veggies or vegans. I would highly recommend.

I came here for breakfast on my birthday with my fiancé and it’s one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Seen the viral Indian trays on tiktok and me and my partner were so excited to try that we travelled almost 3 hours to have one together on a little date day we had planned. Table booked for 12:15 on the really easy booking page! We set off from the lakes at 9:30am, travelled and parked the car and got to the restaurant just in time! To be seated and given a ‘brunch menu’ at 12:15, thinking this was a silly, easy mistake we questioned it.. to be told they in-fact were not serving dinner time food until after 4pm because the football was on!!! baring in mind none of this is stated on any booking systems, on any pages, etc.. so mine and my partners start to our day day trip was ruined and we didn’t get to try the viral trays at all. Very very disappointed.

We visited Thali House which is upstairs in the Bealim House in December, we booked a table in advance as our visit was on the same day as a football match so we expected it to be popular/busy which it was !! Our table was ready for us when we got there. Staff were great throughout, not in our faces but available and friendly whenever we needed help with something. There were two menus available, brunch and the full one, we were able to order from either (nothing was - ‘off the menu!’). The food arrived in 15-20 minutes and was excellent, great portion sizes and taste! The atmosphere in the whole place was friendly, warm and welcoming. We will definitely return !!

Lovely food. Would recommend a Thali tray or a few small plates as your main. We had a small plate as starter plus a Thali tray and I was stuffed. Great venue for a casual night out with friends. Bar downstairs also handy for pre-dinner / post-dinner drinks.

Amazing curry and the little starters are even better! The staff are all super friendly and the drinks are great.

Disappointing experience. Restaurant was cold. Food was not exceptional. Service was prompt but possibly too prompt which made us feel pressured. The cost was too high for the quality of food. The concept is nice and really worked in its previous location. Lost its appeal.

We weren't impressed. The food was literally thrown at us 10 mins after we arrived, it was slopped all over the edges of the tray so we had to wipe it so as not to get it on our sleeves. Looks nothing like the food in your website pics. The food was not impressive apart from the nan bread which was fresh and good. The actual curries reminded me of school dinners. Mass produced and overcooked meat. Then we waited 40mins for the trays to be removed and eventually had to go to the bar ourselves to ask for another drink.

Four of us visited on Sunday 26th and got 4 breakfasts, one of them vegan, my first time visiting and it was delicious, great twist on a classic English breakfast. Coffees from central bean were also lovely, staff were amazing. Great breakfast top notch!

Enjoyed a lovely brunch with my husband. Experienced a great twist on a full English breakfast (full Indian). Really enjoy the food especially the Bacon, and enjoyed the lovely Toffee Latte which followed it. Staff were warm and welcoming. Planning a return visit soon.

Amazing curry restaurant with a twist!

This is a hidden gem.in Newcastle. Food is expeceptional. Tasty, great portions. Service was a little slow but can be forgiven by the quality of the food.

I was travelling on my own, and after a good curry in Newcastle. After much back and forth settled on Thali tray, and not dissapointed. Absolutely delicious, spicy excellent food. The jam with the papadoms was a delight and the Rajastani thali was fantastic. Good value and topped off with a delicious 0.0% pale ale.

Early Saturday evening, staff were friendly. The food was amazing! One of the best Indian food we have had. Would definitely recommend and return. Good value for money also

Visited their new venue at Bealim House. They have a neat little booking system online. The place was surprisingly empty for a Friday night, but could be just the new venue. I remember the old place always being packed. The food was lovely as always. We tried the pani puri, kesar thali and the rajasthani option. All items were great. Will surely visit again

Great concept for curry lovers with lots of choice. I’ve been before and sadly this experience was below par. Most of the dishes were bland and lacked flavour and the meat portions were stingy. Really really disappointed.

Nothing about the food taste is Indian. It's sooo westernised and bad. Everything is premade and not authentic at all. This is the worst place I've tried Indian food in the UK.

We came from glasgow to visit Newcastle, and we got such great and authentic indian food in UK. We really like there food, most important there behavior and service is really good. Must try there thali its really awesome.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our waitress walked us through the menu and what trays contain what. We really felt looked after! The food came and the presentation was gorgeous, the food looked incredible, having it served on a metal tray almost felt a bit like street food and I loved this. Everything was delicious, so flavourful and a hefty portion! The meat/paneer was cooked beautifully, these guys really know what they're doing! Would definitely recommend and will be back myself!

Went with a big group of friends and ordered the 15 quid tray. Didn't have any meat in the chicken tray whatsoever and had a tiny bit of meat in the lamb section. Woeful. Everyone else left most of theirs too. Tasted like crap and...

I tried this restaurant as it was new to me, but whoever knows about authentic Indian taste will never ever go here again. As a vegetarian, I tried Kesar thali, but only paneer & naan were a little edible, but everything else was full of salt. Pakora from kadhi was fully burnt. Kadhi had a dry layer on top, which comes when you keep dal/kadhi open for long. It felt like dishes were already served and kept aside. Rice was quite dry & chewy as well. My child was very excited to try new food but couldn't eat due to loads of salt and lack of real Indian taste. I'm very disappointed...

Went here to sample in restaurant week & have been meaning to go for a while, having never managed to go to the Ouseburn establishment when it was there. The menu was simple enough to negotiate and once the choice made, it was delivered really quickly. The food was of good quality, hot when delivered, and a really good variety. Portions were very ample, and the starter was huge.. too much tbh. Really enjoyed it, but I felt it was a bit "fast food" & cooled quite quickly on the metal tray it was served on. Not totally sold on the idea and personally prefer the traditional "starter, main and sides" delivered one at a time, as I'm getting on a bit and stuck in my ways 😉
