I ordered a takeaway for 4. The preparation time was very good. I recommend the steamed sea bass.

Very good food - we particularly enjoyed the Thai red chicken curry but were not disappointed with any of our choices. The service was great and the restaurant is beautiful with lovely carved furniture.

It's saying my order has been delivered but it hasn't!

Food was disappointing. Staff we're friendly enough when we went to collect. Had a take away, which was not cheap. Panang curry had no heat at all, taste was just ok. Weeping tiger was not great. Noodle dish had a pleasant taste, but again no heat. The best bit was one of the starters, thai dumplings which were very tasty. But all in all, expensive considering what we had. Sadly, we won't be ordering again.

Sticky menus and not being asked for our drinks order should have been our cue to leave. Alas, being overly polite, we decided to stay. Took 45 mins for the starters to be served, and the restaurant wasn't busy. 3 small spring rolls cut in half & wet garnish for £8. Mains were finally served 1hr 20 mins after arriving. 4 prawns, some veg & rice for £13. Sauce portions were miniscule. Apart from one lady, front of house were scruffy and unprofessional. Bill was wrong and needed to be adjusted to suit. Be warned they automatically add a 10% service charge, which you need to request to have removed. Very disappointing experience all round. Such a shame.

Me and my family went for my grandma's birthday. We had a wonderful time the food was amazing and filling. They gave us wipes and mints at the end too.The service was top tier, as they kept checking if everything was ok and the food arrived quickly. There was a calm atmosphere probably as it wasn't as busy as it could get. There are lots of Decorations everywhere and the tables and chairs were stunning. I highly recommend visiting the place and I hope you enjoy it too if you go.

Lovely surroundings. Very authentic Thai. Food was good but was surprised to be charged over £11 for a dish of bean sprouts! There was a side dish on the menu of bean sprouts and noodles for around £6 and we asked for just bean sprouts. We queried the bill but they insisted the bean sprouts were a full meal!!😳 They cost more than the pork dish one of our group had! May visit again as food was good but will definitely not be asking for anything not on the menu!! 😫

Was very busy. Lots of deliveroo drivers etc, coming in and out of the doors. I think they may have been short staffed. Although, very cool tables and chairs. Staff were friendly and personable. Good was very nice, not the best I have had, nonetheless, still very tasty.

Took an hour and a half to deliver. Delivery driver said the lights were off and the place looked shut. Rice tepid, straight in the bin.

First time ordering a takeaway from here, it was busy so there was a bit of a wait but server was very polite and welcoming. I ordered egg fried rice, vegetable noodles and fish cakes. I was only disappointed in the fish cake as the texture was rubbery and not what I was expecting. Apart from that, I will order from here again but choose another option...

Lol that used to be good I ordered papaya salad that's decent but hard to screw it but phad Thai geeez like someone puked into the dish ..... uneatable and I paid 30 plus for a salad, bowl of puke and 2 cans of soda ...

I order takeaway food a only enjoyed the fish dish the rest was quality wasn't great, taste either. The noodles side was just stir fry with only oil and all curry come with a lot raw bell pepper and no taste.. No thanks waste of money

KoenKaen is closed on a xx Monday, so thought I’d try here for my takeaway. Ordered a welding tiger with egg fried rice. I was looking forward to some nice pink beef, delicately cooked. What I got was tough, chewy overcooked beef that I ended up throwing away. Simply awful food! Should have just gone for a doner kebab!

We had an overnight stay in Newbury and my wife had a late meeting so as we wandered into town to find a place for dinner. A lot of the restaurants stopped raking orders after 9pm. So as we liked Thai and saw this restaurant we thought we would give it a try. There were several people still there and we were given a table. The starters of crispy tofu ans spring rolls were really tasty, my wife had the Mass-amen Curry and I had the chicken with basil and chillis, both were really tasty and up there with the best I have had. The waitress was friendly and helpful and despite the late hour we were never rushed, very enjoyable.

Good service but there was literally no flavour at all. Pretty disappointing tbh.

A real shame about the service we waited 45 minutes for 2 starters of fish cakes and chicken skewers didn't get clean cutlery for our mains and nobody asked if we wanted any more drinks the restaurant was not even busy it is a shame as the food we had was very nice but we wouldn't go back due to very poor service the staff seemed to interested in looking at there phones at the bar rather than looking after there guests

Worst Thai Food restaurant I have ever been too. Ordered Tom Yum Soup - two portions and each was different from the other in consistency and content. The Thai Green Curry was very very oily. The food was cooked by a chef with a heavy hand when oil. Noodles very soaked in stale oil and glistened in the light. Really poor experience when it comes to Thai food. Not authentic or tasty at all. Disappointing! Left the food after a few spoons and let the waitress know who said - sorry and that was it. A sheer waste of our money £56.82. A restaurant where they even charge you for the chilli sauce. Shameful! Bonus: the complimentary imperial mint washed away the oil from the mouth. Avoid.

We've been to the Thai Golden Horse many times and we love it! Every friend we take here is blown away by how delicious the food is! The food here is genuinely brilliant and if you're looking for a place to eat in Newbury look no further! The furniture is also quite special as all ornately carved from wood. I'm sure we'll remain regulars at this place!

Excellent service and food. Everything is freshly prepared and extremely tasty. The duck pancakes, whilst not Thai, were delicious. Service excellent and great advice given.

Best Thai around, amazing tastes

Food was nice, although portions were way smaller eating in than take away. But what really ruined it a bit for me was the fact that it really was extremely cold inside. I had to keep my coat on to eat and that wasn't very comfortable.

We went with friends, had really good food and prompt service! Nice green chicken curry but bettered by the red lamb curry. 😊

Pad Thai had no sauce and was bitter clearly a mistake as they always deliver 10/10

Spring rolls were hot & tasty but you only get X4 small ones for £6.95! The Phad Mee Noodls were awful, not like they usually are….. beef was really chunky & chewy & the wrong noodles used, was just sloppy & tasteless.

Best Thai food I've ever had. Beautiful decor, friendly service and outstanding food. I'd eat there every week if I could! Strongly recommend the crispy pork belly, salt and pepper squid, sweet and sour crispy seabass and the massaman curry.

Watery noodles and stir fry, prawns not properly shelled, veg not chopped properly.....big chunks of onion and peppers. Very overpriced and I'm very disappointed. Won't be ordering from them again.

Nice decor & food was nice but the service wasn't that great dissapointed that they only had one beer option as took my husband there for his birthday meal & only one type of wine by the glass would be nice to have more options & we waited ages after are meal to be offered more drinks or desserts & never was asked so we just asked for the bill paid & left,the lady front off house didn't seem very happy or efficient but the cook was lovely that brought out our food can't fault the food but the service not all that we been too better.

We have visited this restaurant a few times before but haven't been for a while as we don't visit Newbury that often. However, we were in the vicinity and decided to pop in last evening. It was a quiet Sunday evening but there was a steady stream of dining customers and lots of takeaway orders. This restaurant is large and airy with elaborate Thai style decor. Perfect setting for special occasions as well as casual dining. The food isn't the best I have ever had but it is certainly very good and all beautifully presented. Service is attentive and charming with water topped up frequently without asking. Prices are very reasonable. We will be visiting more often!

This restaurant is tranquil inside with beautifully carved furnishings and offered great service with delicious, fresh and tasty food. Service was excellent. It was a true find and would totally recommend it.

Food is decent quality, matches previous Thai restaurants I’ve been too. Loses a star as prices are slightly different to menu, small rice portions and 10% service charge added to the bill.

The massaman was nice and so was the rice, but the massaman didnt have much beef in it- more onions and peppers and veg, and the duck spring rolls were two small skinny spring rolls with barely any duck (£8)- im not sure if they were just vegetable... overpriced for what the food was, but nice flavours- very much restarant prices but even though, I'd say if i had it in a restaurant I'd still think it overpriced for the content of the dishes...

Very nice and clean oriental restaurant. Authentic cooking and food served hot.

Food was great and staff really friendly. My only complaint was the restaurant was so cold - they had electric heaters on, but it didn't make any difference and we ended up eating in our coats. Would definitely visit again, but maybe when the weather outside is a little warmer.

This has to be one of the best Thai Restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food is unbelievably authentic and amazing tasting. The freshness of everything that was brought out was amazing and I will be going back. In relation to the pricing, it was pretty much standard Thai Restaurant prices. The waitress was very nice and extremely attentive.

I had an amazing experience at this Thai restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious - every dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The curry was particularly noteworthy - it had just the right amount of heat and was packed with fresh vegetables and tender meats. The service was also excellent - the staff were friendly and attentive, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Thai food and great service. So, it's a 5 star restaurant for me!

Have reviewed this place before but recently have to say it's still the best! Superb food, fresh, spicy (if you want, as I do and they will tailor make it less spicy for you) . Their set lunch is the best value in Newbury, we try to go every week. Love this place 10/10 every time I have been .

We were staying overnight in Newbury as a family of 4 adults and were looking for a Thai restaurant and this did not disappoint. Food was superb, fresh, tasty, good value and not at all greasy, all of us were really impressed. Staff were friendly and attentive and the manager came to check we were satisfied with everything, can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Shame we live so far away !

We'd had takeout, which was good, but eating in is even better. Food is superb, service was good and friendly, and the bill was extremely reasonable. Will be eating here again.
