Superb service, good food. Five star to all the staff. I recommend this , its really good. The waiter is good on recomendation which is the delicious food.

A hidden gem of great dim sum favourites. They do the best Cantonese dishes south of soho. Roasts also a specialty. Not a big restaurant, so if you have a large party, book in advance.

9-Dec-23 Thai Elephant: Visited on a Saturday evening for a family celebration as a table of 9. The "buffet" menu is undoubtedly good value and the food was tasty enough, and came out at a reasonable pace. However, a number of ordered dishes didn't arrive and had to be asked for again, a few times. The waiting staff were apologetic each time. What was very strange was that they had no prosecco in stock and only ONE type of white wine (chardonnay, which we don't like), despite having numerous options on the list. We ended up having to get wine ourselves from the shop opposite. They wanted to charge corkage, which seemed v cheeky in the circumstances, but eventually agreed to waive this. So a rather frustrating evening in all.

Haven’t been here for a few years but wished we had. Visited with hubby and friends and we were not disappointed. Service was good considering how busy they were. Food was so tasty and could order how much you wanted. Loved the ribs and also the pad Thai for main. Desserts of pineapple and apple were very tasty also. Definitely we will back and sooner rather than later.

We went for dim sum at this restaurant today. Everything we ordered was packed with authentic Hong Kong taste. The Wu Gok (taro puffs) were crispy and flaky on the outside and the inside was filled to bursting, the Har Gau (shrimp dumplings ) packed with prawn and the skin was thin and delicate. Very reasonable prices and a great find. Will definitely return. 👍🏻👍🏻

Absolutely delicious dim sum. We've been coming here with the children for a few years now and it's never disappointed. Huge portions, really fresh and really lovely friendly staff who are great with the children. Always full at the weekend with chinese families which is an indication as to how great it is.

Gone downhill a bit recently. They must have lost their chef or some key members of staff - the last 2 deliveries have had missing items, the food turns up cold, the crispy chilli beef that used to be fantastic is now a soggy chewy mess. Used to be fab, now not so fab.

Really disappointed, service was extremely slow, food was taking ages to Come, when it did come it was Luke/warm cold. When this restaurant gets it right it’s amazing but when they don’t it’s awful. Been here numerous times over the years but unfortunately after our experience last Saturday - Poor everything - and fully charged on the bill we won’t be returning.

Great place with a good choice of thai food. Throughly enjoyed every dish I had. The mee goreng(?) was a new dish to me and a definite favourite.

Visited as two couples on a Friday evening for the all you can eat buffet and it was superb. Staff were attentive and the food was really good. Great selection of food on the menu and they really just let you keep ordering until you’re full. It got quite busy but the staff and food quality was still really good. Drinks also very reasonably priced. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

After going to the restaurant for the past 20years, sadly will probably not go again. Must of changed ownership in the last six months as the price has gone up, food portions very small and quality poor. I understand the cost of living has effected this however this was not good. Floor was sticky, temperature inside was freezing cold, dirty cutlery, very cold plates and tablecloth was dirty under the paper cloth used to cover it up. No smiles from the staff. I feel very sad that one of our favourite restaurants has been lost.

Doesn’t need a good review from me - it’s always full of Hong Kongers. And I mean full. Best local Dim Sum by a wide margin. Prices are good, don’t be put off by the decor - nobody else is.

THEY SAID NO TO THE DUCKKKKKKKK! Absolute joke! Unlimited no duck, as if they ran out of duck and then the table next to me orders DUCK.

The worst Take-Away ever - I had 3 spoonfuls and couldn’t eat anymore. The sauce was virtually flavourless and like water. The other curry was no better. So disappointing. Will never use them again. The only positive was the friendly delivery person.

Used to go here every Friday evening with my girlfriend, been going for years. We both agree that over the past few months it’s been rubbish! They do a buffet, but it isn’t as good as it used to be.. if you order chicken satay they bring you 1 piece of chicken on the stick in sauce and that’s “their portion size” - if you want spring rolls you get 2 spring rolls.. it’s going downhill rapidly. When you ask for another dish e.g another chicken satay they look very annoyed and give dirty looks (especially the lady in there) the food isn’t always fresh or even warm/hot and to top it off they add a 10% service charge onto your bill with no mention of this anywhere. Unfortunately we won’t be going back, sad really we used to enjoy it there. Not anymore.

Lunch with a friend found me at the Thai Elephant, a restaurant I hadn't been to for years. Since I last went they have introduced a dim sum lunchtime menu which allows some great options and options to experiment with tastes you may not have experienced before. I found the advice from the waitress was highly valuable and her experience about Eastern & Western tastes was accurate. We tried a few options that were of Eastern taste and found them unpalatable, but at least we tried them knowing they were not recommended for our normal tastes. A couple of things I would never have tried were also suggested and they were lovely (Most notable was the Pork belly). Trying to avoid green tea ( which might interact with medication) they suggested Pu Erh Red Tea. A pleasant alternative, which on later checking was perfect and non-interactive with the relevant medication. I will definitely return.

We paid a return visit tonight having not been for some while. We have to agree with a previous reviewer regarding the temperature of both the restaurant and food, both leaving something to be desired. Service was not brilliant such as bringing plates as soon as placing our orders which were then cool by the time the food arrived. To finish us off we found an "optional" 10% service charge added to the bill even though there is no mention of this on the menus!

We celebrated the Christmas dinner at Thai Elephant last year. Good foods and friendly staffs. They have a special dim sum on lunch menu too. Reasonable price

I need to start with the discussing toilets, I would not even touch the door handle. Apart from the smell, the doors are filthy and you could write your name on top of the dust on the rusty bin. The food is more batter than content, you have to keep ordering more as the portions are so small and the sauces do not taste like they should. The sweet and sour sauce taste like vinegar. The waitress just leans over the table and doesn't even say excuse me

The scents of Thailand immersed me as I stepped into this restaurant. The wooden carvings covering the walls, even the tables and chairs have obviously been brought over from Thailand. The couple running the restaurant are Thai! The food was superb and 100% authentic! This is a true gem of a find in this area. Much better than the alternative Thai eateries in Berkshire. A very romantic little place for a special meal! If you like the food in Thailand, you will love this! If you don't believe me, pay the Thai Elephant a visit to find out for yourself!

This was a return visit after many years, after we felt standards had dropped. The food was freshly coooked and tasty, and you really can keep ordering so long as you don't waste food (fair enough). The starters had good variety. Although the main course of noodles was a little bland, a friend who ordered the hot version was not disappointed. Apart from slightly slow service at times, this was a successful evening and very good value for the money. Will be happy not to leave it so long before a next visit.

I have been using this restaurant for years. Stopped going there and have take aways for convenience. However my family have been decrying the menu (not cheap) and the freshness of the ingredients. I had a chicken and cashew nuts with rice and the chicken tasted stale. The mix vegetables too was unpalatable. It's time to sign out for good on this restaurant. It's a gradual neglect that has taken hold of the place.

Visited Thai elephant yesterday for dinner with family and I can’t say I will back. The food arrived within minutes of us ordering, starters and mains all together which doesn’t give confidence on how fresh the food is. The Thai green curry was terrible. The sauce was watery and bland and when we brought this up to the waiter explaining how it should be he said what you want is how they cook it in Thailand, this dish is the uk version?

Was invited out by friends to Thai Elephant. Was shocked at how dirty the place was and this put me right off. Its dated and needs a good clean. Picked at my food as i didnt want to eat there. Kept wondering how dirty must the kitchen be. Was 6 of us and the others thought it was ok, average food nothing special. Service was ok though. Looked online has a zero hygene rating. No excuse for this. Until the rating is at least 4 will not go back.

Food great value, at a set meal price of £16.50 per person, for an eat as much as you like menu. Please note though, you cannot takeaway any leftovers in a box, it's eat it there, or not at all. I suspect they've had customers who have tried to exploit offer, so that they can take home a whole feast previously, hence prevent a repeat.

Great menu of tasty dishes. Service is always friendly and never leave hungry. Decor could do with updating but food totally makes up for it. Very pleased and will return.

Attentive service from the moment we sat down. The staff worked really hard to make sure we ordered our food and drinks correctly. They were all friendly and helpful. I know it is “their job”, but great service makes for a great night and that is exactly what we had.

We had the all you can eat menu, fantastic!! A little bit of about 8 dishes, then comes the duck pancakes after that choose anything from the menu and then pudding, wow we can hardly move. It was beautiful and fresh a big thumbs up

Booked table for 7.30pm for three. Arrived on time & was seated promptly. Restaurant was freezing. Had to ask them to turn the heating on which we saw was a small fan heater which didn’t make any difference so we all kept our coats on.

Fuimos a cenar al elefante Tailandés om sábado por la noche para celebrar un cumpleaños, teníamos una mesa para 5 reservado para 7. 30:00 estaba sentado enseguida. Tuvimos una selección de entrantes, que era delicioso. El personal era increíble, siempre preguntando si queríamos más o cualquier cosa del menú. Sopa de pollo al curry fue el mejor de todos, pero todo lo que tenía era delicioso. Toda la comida era fabulosa, y el personal era genial, era también muy satisfechos con la ley. Recomendaría este restaurante y sin duda volveremos gracias por una gran noche.

Me and my family went there for my birthday we ordered our starters and took ONE HOUR to come out to us which we didn't receive all that we ordered, the satay chicken was tough as old mans boots, then we ordered peaking duck we was waiting over half hour we managed to call someone over to see what was going on and got the same response every time "it's on its way" so we all got up payed for the starters and left. The funny thing is the restaurant wasn't even busy! So and hour and half in the restaurant and we only got starters.

Went here as it sounded good on the review, was told the decor was dated and there not wrong there.the waiters dont speak to very much and dont seem to be listening either.so starter came up with wrong dishes on it.we said nothing and just left the wrong dishes and then the main came.we ordered beef in black bean and we got curried squid Chinese style.it took ten min to get them to come over and the replacement dish was rushed i would have said , well at least that would make an excuse for the poor quality of it.sorry i been to a lot of chinese and this is no better than sainsbury chinese box set you can get

To be honest this restaurant is great value and has a menu that delivers what is promised. There is no way on this earth it can be classed as dirty, filthy, or even disgusting. Fair play it may consider some updating, but this does not mean it is dirty like any person reviewing this place as I have mentioned ed before has done wrongly in my opinion. Do please go and judge for yourselves. The service is courteous not speedy but when you are eating no one likes to be rushed. There is always someone on hand to bring drinks and bring more food when required. There is nothing wrong with this place and for a eat well throughout the menu for one price, excellent value and go go go.

Have just had a 70th birthday meal with the family thoroughly enjoyed the buffet meal food very very tasty nice and hot. Had a mixture of starters spring rolls prawn toasts crispy sea weed mini ribs mini chicken in batter. chicken satay butterfly prawns followed by crispy aromatic duck with pancakes.then a choice of main meals all of which was very tasty we then had sweets of banana fritters pineapple fritters and ice cream afterwards compliments of the house little bottles of vodka shots of different flavours so i can recomend whole heartedly this place if i could give more than 5 stars i would. Try it you will not be dissappointed i know i will go again

Restaurant is a little dingy and run down however the food is always top quality and very plentiful. The buffet has been the same price for years ( £15.50 ) and always lives up to previous standards!

We went there for a saturday evening and got there about 8pm and the place was virtually full. They do an amazing 'unlimited' menu for about £16 and it is phenomenal food. You can have 'what ever you want' and 'whatever choice you desire'. The food is scrumpcious and very tasty and will leave you feeling satisfied and very full. All the usual and expected courses are there, you won't be disappointed. We had various satay starters, tempura prawns and vegetables etc. and dips, followed by crispy duck with all the trimmings. The main course was wonderful and choices extensive including tasty prawns, chicken, beef and duck, all washed down with Tsingtai beers and glorious red wine. For deserts we had lychees, tempura icecream, bananas and pinapple in batter, all awesome and can't wait to go back!.

Apart from the deep fried squid which was tasty, all other dishes were really bland. The thai red curry beef was not at all what we expected. Will not be ordering from here again

Not eaten there for a long time, ordered a take away with home delivery, was pleasantly surprised the food was very nice and plenty of it. I would order again.

We visited again recently having not been here for a year or so. It's not really a Thai restaurant per se but has a very extensive menu of Asian food (including some Thai dishes). The decor still looks tired inside and its rather dark too but the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was good and great value for money. This is an inexpensive local place to eat in my view . . . just over £30 for two with three courses each including several drinks (bottled beer and wine).

Turned up after an hour and 15 minutes, the food was cold and when I phoned up they didn't seem to care about it and told us to take it up with just eat. Never ordering from here again and nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Food really isnt that great also they have a hygiene rating of 0!!!!! So seriously think before eating here and putting yourself at risk!

This is probably one of the most horrible places I have ever been too. Food was disgusting...place was filthy...I didn't eat much at all. Its all deep fried, pre packaged food. Even from the outside the place looks like it hasn't had a clean for ages. I will never go here again.
