Ming in Bromley

This is our favourite family restaurant!

Took 3 friends for a meal last week . We al agreed the food was great. Thank you Ming restaurant pettswood.

We went early evening on a Friday, and the restaurant was nearly empty. We ordered ma y plates, and even one that was not on the menu (Salt and pepper fried bean curd) which was everyone's favourite. By the time we left the restaurant it was filling up, so it is best to book.

Very good food, food came up in drips and drabs, but did not spoil the meal. Definitely will go back !

Mings does a set two course lunch that is very reasonably priced. For this reason visits here are relatively frequent. The food is good and the servings are generous.

The restaurant was quiet when we visited at 6p.m. on a weekday. The food was good and the service was OK. I do not often think of going to this place with King Palace & Xian just a short journey away in Orpington. However our visit on this occasion was good enough to merit returning.

Went there for sunday lunch buffet menu. Food was lovely & so were the staff & good price.

We've been living in Petts Wood for nearly 5 years and I can't believe it's taken us this long to visit Ming! We went on Saturday night for my partner's birthday and had a wonderful time. We had our three year old with us, and from the moment we walked in, the staff were super friendly and very attentive. They had a booster seat for our little one (which was upholstered with the same fabric as the chairs, small detail, but pretty cool). We opted to go for one of the set menus, and the food was absolutely delicious. The starters came out super quickly, and we were able to share that with out little one and still started to fill up. There was plenty to go around. Next was the duck pancakes. The duck was delicious and plentiful, and getting an extra pot of pancakes was also no trouble at all. Then the mains came out, and they were just the right size. There was so much food and we found ourselves defeated, but fortunately the leftover rice, and the extra curry we ordered were boxed up to take home no problems at all. I would definitely recommend booking, especially on the weekend. When we arrived around 6pm, there were a couple of other tables occupied, but by the time we left a bit after 8pm, the place was heaving. Definitely seems to be a local gem, and we will very likely be back again in the future!

We celebrated my husband`s 70th Birthday Party here, inviting 34 guests, it was a lovely celebration, the food was delicious and hot. I would thoroughly recommend Ming, whether celebrating in a large party, or for a meal with friends or a partner. The meal took place over the Christmas period but we were allowed to stay as long as we wanted. The staff at Ming are extremely friendly and professional.

I recommend this place to everyone! The best Chinese in Orpington. My husband and I always get the set menu c and it is great food and really good value! We normally end up taking home left overs. That staff are all very friendly and welcoming and we always get a strong community vibe here. This is now the only Chinese we will go to in Orpington

The food was ok, but not the best Chinese I have ever had. The service was a little disappointing. Bit cold and unfriendly. The prices were also on the high side for what I was expecting- I think there are lunch time deals but the waiter didn’t suggest or offer these.

Writing this a little late but just had to say My Zhusband took me here for a Birthday Meal ! We went because we had heard it was good and people had recommended the restaurant . Well I wish we hadn’t bothered the Dodd was bland and expensive and the staff slow not very helpful and really quite rude. Will not go there again !

Spent over £90 on terrible Chinese food. Noodles were inedible. Beef didn’t taste like beef. So much MSG. Shocking state of restaurants today charging this amount of money for such terrible food. I am finding that cafes are the best value for quality. Won’t be going back!

We visited on Father’s Day for the all you can eat buffet and it was excellent. We were a table of 5 and it was busy but the food and service were excellent. We waited a little longer than usual for our duck course but it was incredibly busy and didn’t spoil the experience at all. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

I order over £20 worth of food to get fried rice with fully good eggs in it however the chicken was actually raw and sliming inside. Same with the chicken inside the noodles. I should have know something was not right when the delivery turned up in less that 10 minutes. How we the app is still showing that my order would be her with me between 23.30 and 23.50 the food arrived at 23.10 just 9 and a half minutes after I ordered it and was clearly uncooked chicken in my meal. Which me and my children were eating until we realised that something was not right. How can you be feeding customers raw meet and chicken or all meet. If me or my children get sick I will be suing your company and have video evidence to proof it.

I have been going to Ming's for years. The food and service is always excellent and its good value for your money.

Not good in there. Food not great on music nights. Manager very rude. Over charged couldn’t find cash I paid with try to say I didn’t pay as much as I did. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. Other people saying food not good.

Had a lovely lunch with friends, super friendly staff, large portions and delicious What more could you want? Also amazing value and a relaxed but good service. So full thank you and I’ll be back so good xx

I keep returning to Ming’s, the food is very good. Nice decor, great location. I had the lobster & seafood set meal for 2 with a friend of mine & it was excellent. The service is good. I did have trouble getting their attention to pay the bill so this could be improved. Overall I was very happy and will return.

Have loved this place for years but not ordered probably since before lockdown...are they under new ownership? ordered takeaway last night and it was the worst Chinese I have ever had - totally tasteless and horrible - had to throw it away - so sad - loved going there for Chinese New Year but never again...

I came here with my family for a birthday dinner. My mum is strictly vegetarian, so we ordered her a noodle dish, and emphasised that it is vegetarian. It comes out with shrimps and chicken on, to which we complain and it is taken back. It comes back out two minutes later. My mum starts eating and mentions eating something that didn’t seem right. As I dig deeper into the noodles it is obvious that they have scooped the meat off the top and left the rest under the noodles. The manager did not apologise nor did he empathise, instead he kicked us out. If that had been an allergy (to shrimp for example) what would have happened? It was not about getting a free meal, it was about him understanding how their actions can impact people. I will not be eating here again nor will I be ordering take aways from here (as we usually do). Absolutely appalling behaviour and attitude from the manager.

Went of a lunch time, very dry bland food. Should not be allowed to keep gold fish at front shop if they cannot look after them correctly, basically dying.

We've been frequenting this restaurant for years and seen two new owners in that time, but it's now the last time we will ever visit. We had lunch set menu A, bottle of House white and 2 coffees. Thought the bill was rather expensive and it wasn't until we'd got home we realised they'd charged us the evening price for the set menu, so we've been overcharged by at least £15 considering the service charge added too. Food was also not as good as it's been in the past, A shame, but goodbye Ming!

Picked up a takeaway from here this evening but we were unfortunately disappointed. In particular the crab and sweetcorn soup was like water and the noodles were very dry, lacking in sauce and ingredients. I’m wondering if the restaurant is under new ownership. We have been using Mings for years ..Probably will look for another Chinese restaurant next time.

Given a 4* as food was lovely but they attempted to give us the previous tables bar bill which practically doubled our bill. The first thing the waitress said when we queried amount was “we have lost a lot of money tonight” which made us feel that it was a deliberate add on.

Absolutely awful service and food at a busy period. Ordered a takeaway by phone on Mother's Day and was told 6.15pm pick up was fine. Arrived 5 minutes early to complete chaos. A long queue of people both for eating in and out. The restaurant was completely disorganised and just shouted at customers, "who's next, who's takeaway?" To compound that the people who were picking up a takeaway were the asked who had pre-paid! Those were given preferential treatment despite the fact I had ordered before them. I ended up paying £36 for a cold takeaway! Never again.

Family meal, seven of us. We all thoroughly enjoyed the Ming experience. Food was lovely, hot and tasty. Service very good and we all agreed we would go back again.

We always use Ming for a Chinese meal even though it’s a 20 mile round trip to get there. The food has always been good and the service too, the waitresses & waiters are always very helpful and don’t mind helping you to choose the right meal if your looking for something different for a change (they know the menu inside out) We do like the waiter Hand who’s very Chinese & really funny with his own Chinese sense of humour, he does make us laugh. So if your looking for a good Chinese restaurant you won’t go wrong with Ming.

Our second visit here. All the food was good, as was the service: very friendly.Pleasant surroundings. Dinner for 5 adults and two toddlers was a shade over £100! Result. A good 4 stars.

I ordered a takeaway (my first from this restaurant) by phone and was surprised to be told that it would take at least one hour before it would be ready as they were so busy. A quarter of an hour before it was due I received a call to say that it would be longer and that they would call when it was ready. That call came about ninety minutes after I ordered, When I arrived there were at least 20 - 25 people waiting for takeaways. Making my way to the front of the queue I eventually managed to speak to a waiter and within 5 minutes was away with my ordered food.Maybe New Year's Eve was not the best time for quick service!However, on getting the food home, both my wife and I, and our guest found the food excellent, better in some respects than food we often eat in London Chinatown. Our only criticism is the very small amount of egg in the egg fried rice. My wife and I will certainly be using this as a takeaway again in future and will try eating in when we are not in a hurry.

Food hot on arrival to the table well cooked and resonable priced. Been a couple of times and anyone that think the food isn't good should go to the Ritz or Harrods

Siempre tienes garantizada una buena comida en Ming's. Es mi local para un chino y normalmente ordeno para una colección y ocasionalmente ceno. El personal es encantador y acogedor. La comida es sabrosa y hace lo que dice en la lata. Realmente no te puedes equivocar!

Have visited several restaurants we have been unable to locate one that combines good food at a reasonable price.

Food amazing, especially the crispy duck, but staff extremely rude. The place was literally empty (us n 2 other tables of 4) but the welcome we received was cold, and we were rushed n made to feel we were in the way. The waitress wants knocking out...the way she spoke to my daughter's mother in law was inexcusable and had it been any other people at the table I would have made a big deal about it...as her husband said Basil Fawlty has nothing on her! I was thoroughly embarrassed to have brought them there. We won't be returning which is a shame as it used to be a nice place.

When in reality this place is poor. Eat in or takeaway service is poor. Food is below average . Some reviews say this is the best Chinese in Petts Wood! These people need to get out more!

We go here every few months for the Sunday buffet £ 15.80 each as much as you want (which is actually most of the menu cooked as you order it) which is fantastic! The food is fabulous, the service is great, we would recommend it here any day of the week and will definitely be back.

We booked the 9:30pm sitting and the restaurant was almost full. As it was New Years Eve it was a set menu. The staff were rushing around and trying to please everyone so we didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks. The starters were very good there were about 6-7 different ones and plenty. The duck pancakes were very tasty to. We were practically full by the time the main course came which was about 3 dishes and a rice. The entertainer was a man doing the Brat Pack and he was quite good, he circulated around the tables and was friendly. At midnight we had not been given our desert but was given a glass of sparkling wine and some party poppers, crackers etc. It would have been nice to have had the desert and a coffee, but hey ho!

Been here many times and always find it good food and service. Not really expensive but mid range prices .Well worth a visit

Great meal, great Company and excellent service

I've been to Ming several times in the evening, but we decided to give Sunday lunch a go. It is £15.80 for all you can eat (not a buffet - order from an extensive menu). The portions are large, and we were grateful that we accepted the waitress's suggestion of some half portions. By the time we had eaten several starters and the duck, there wasn't much room left for the main course. The food is beautifully cooked and tasty, all the usual favourites, plus a few more. Service was prompt and with a smile, helped by the fact that only four tables were in use. The only stipulation they have is no doggy bags!

Freshly cooked very large portions great value for money atmosphere very friendly . First time of trying but would recommended anyone that loves oriental food this is a must.

Twice now I’ve come here to collect a takeaway I’ve ordered on the phone to have to wait half an hour extra or more for my food without apology. Don’t bother.

The title sums it up. We attended on lobster night. The food was all lovely, but the service was far too slow due to insufficient staff. The existing staff worked hard (only three of them) but could not cope with the numbers in the restaurant.

A family evening meal , decided to go for a set menu which turned out to be an excellent choice. The first two courses would have been sufficient as portion sizes were very good and we struggled through some of the third course , which they offered to pack up so we could take it home . The dishes were great quality and taste, drinks are a bit on the expensive side . The entertainment Scott Elvis was very very good and was performing for well over 2 hours , a great selection of songs and first class performance.

I have visited this restaurant numerous times over the last 4 years and it’s always been quite good for a local Chinese..

Great Chinese food, a real locals restaurant.

It's not the fault of the restaurant that two of their diners, on adjacent tables, seemed determined to broadcast their wisdom to the rest of us, at tedious length and volume. But it is down to them that, with the tables so crammed together, there could never be any refuge for diners hoping for a civilised, relaxing evening. Add very patchy service and (foolishly on my part, only checked when I arrived home) a poor food hygiene score and you have a place definitely to be avoided. Ironically, the food was quite good. But dining out is about the experience, and ours was very poor.

If you want a Chinese meal, there really is no better place than this. We had a super meal with the whole family here. A mixed starter for the whole table was devoured in no time by hungry kids and the mains were just as good. We have also had take away from here which is super.

Had a lovely meal there, food was very good, service was very atentive would always recommend it to anyone.

Delicious food served by friendly staff and in good time. We selected a set menu and the starters were most tasty. The duck pancakes were good the portion of duck was large. As usual with Chinese food we struggled to eat the main course as we were rather full up but the main course was very good food and cooked perfectly. My sister took some of the food home. The restaurant was full, it is an ok ambience, you watch the take away customers popping in and out and there is not a great deal of room between the tables which is my only criticism. Very well worth a visit and excellent for take away food, we had a pleasant evening.

My husband and I popped in on the off chance that there was a table free for that evening and the host kindly fitted us in.

Our favourite place to go for birthdays (and we live in Nottingham now!) the food is consistently excellent. We go on Sunday's for the buffet, which is unbelievable value.

We went to Mings for a family meal (nine of us) on a Saturday at 5.00. Whilst we cannot fault the food, the main complaint was the persistent ringing of the 'phone for takeaway orders. It was very busy, tables too close together, and the 'phone, which rang every few seconds, was extremely annoying and distracting. Surely a better system could be put in place for taking orders, with the 'phone being diverted to an office for example instead of at the front of house. People were then queuing for their tables AND for takeaways. It was chaotic. Such a shame as food excellent. Sadly will not be returning.

Husband collected from restaurant - set menu B for 2 - plus a couple of other dishes. Hors d’oeuvres were ok but crispy duck was VERY DRY and no plum sauce. Basically, inedible. Telephoned to explain and were told to come back and collect plum sauce?? We said that was not possible - we were in the process of eating - so were told we could have a 10% discount next time on a takeaway. The rest of the dishes were not great and mostly thrown away. Needless to say we will not be taking up the offer of the discount on another! Definitely will not be eating at Mings in the future and best avoided. I have had to give one star in order to submit review but don’t think it deserves that!

After our favourite Chinese restaurant closed down in Bromley we struggled to find another that was just as good until we discovered Ming! Be sure to also visit on one of the free live entertainment nights run once a month especially Scott Elvis!

It's been awhile since I've been to Mings and the food has always been excellent, the staff are friendly and take time to chat, no rushing to get you out the door here. A bit in the pricey side but no complaints as the food was really nice and you get quite a lot.

The staff are friendly. The food is good but the tables are too close together. To the extent that I had to get up so the person behind me could leave leave their seat! It's a shame as it spoils the place. A few less tables crammed in would make it more enjoyable.

Would recommend this Chinese restaurant, always really busy so it is a good sign. Food is always tasty and really good portions. Easy to park around station square or travelling by train as 2mns from Petts Wood train station.

Unlike a lot of Sunday buffets the Ming is a bit more civilised - a sort of reduced à la carte menu where you can order as much as you want. We had a copious mixed hors d'œuvres, all freshly cooked and delicately flavoured. Half a crispy duck, not greasy at all, and then an array of main courses that certainly give Xian in Orpington a run for their money. Wine is well priced. Service from Jenny was friendly, efficient with a smile. Great value at the slightly odd price of £15.80 a head before wine and service. We'll be back!

Went here recently and had an excellent meal . The food was all superb and an excellent choice to have. The service was a bit slow but the food was worth the wait . Will go back soon . It was well priced as well
