Reku Zen in Bromley

im and unhappy with the way the online thing is set up me and 13 friends had planned to go there for a birthday and we took an almost 2 hour journey to get there and the place was not open even though online it said it was online we came there mutiple times and it was closed and we spent almost 4 hours travelling just for the restaurant to be closed

Friendly staff. Amazing buffet. I have stayed here 2 hours + they make you feel so welcome.

They have a chocolate fountain (so take a small cup).

We have visited this restaurant a few times as a family and it has definitely gone downhill. On our recent visit we were seated at a table in a cold cramped corner away from other diners so we did not feel that it was a family dining experience. The layout has changed for the worse. The food collection area is cramped with people tripping over each other trying to get to the food. The floors were sticky and unclean and the tables and cutlery were no better. We witnessed the staff charging another family for their baby to eat in the restaurant although the family argued that the child was never going to be able to eat the food on offer. The food was ok but we've had much better takeaways. It was nothing special at all. Also they set the charge of the child meal price on the childs height which is ridiculous as my 9 year old eats more than my 15 year old. Sadly a big thumbs down from us. We wont be going back.

Quality of the food was excellent, plenty of it too there was never any waiting for anything to come out. Very good experience.

Family meal for 8. Made the reservation the day before and got a table easy enough. Seemed quite busy, so thought that was a good sign.Waitress advised that they normally take payment for the meals prior to sitting down, bit as we looked 'Ok', we could pay at the end. Had a look around at the rest of the diners, trying to work out who had paid upfront as they weren't 'Ok'?Tried to order drinks tonbe told that take drink orders, and we have to go to the bar and order and they would take them over. Duly went to the bar, only to be told they weren't the bar and to go to another desk.Food itself was 'Ok'. Standard buffet fare and as we had a couple of fussy eaters, choices suited them. They have some kind of chef cooking food to order. However no menu exists to tell you what he did.Overall, a pretty cheap meal and if you enjoy eating big plates full of pretty average Chinese food, you'll love it.

Food tasty...prawns juicy....but a little cold

Thoroughly enjoyed the food, was fresh and hot and the variety of dishes was great, I love that you can have fresh pancakes my favourite dessert. Definitely recommend it. First time had to pay first but they must have their reason for it. My only complaint is lack of parking.

We came here at the request of my son who is home for Christmas and New Year. The lay out has changed considerably but it was an excellent meal. The buffet has a large choice with a good range of meat, seafood and vegetable dishes. Also nice selection of sweets and chocolate fountain. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend for any lovers of Asian food.

Mi familia ha estado muchas veces en el pasado para comer en este restaurante, cerró por un tiempo y cuando vimos que había reabierto volvimos. Qué decepción masiva. Los precios han subido considerablemente, han reducido a la mitad la elección de los alimentos y la mitad de las soperas estaban vacías. cuando preguntamos si la comida salía todo lo que decían era que se estaba cocinando. Compraron algunas gambas y contamos doce, así que las dos primeras personas las tomaron y pasaron quince minutos antes de que llegaran. Había continuamente soperas vacías. También exigen el pago tan pronto como llegue, probablemente porque saben que las personas se negarían a pagar al final. Es realmente triste que lo que solía ser un gran lugar para comer ya no va a volver definitivamente.

Recent visit to Reku Zen, after refurbishment. They have moved things around quite a bit, and not sure if it's for the best? Went as a family, to celebrate a birthday, food was ok, but nothing special, choice of deserts not great, although on a Sunday afternoon, there were plenty of empty seats? Unfortunately they had run out of beer? Prices seemed to have increased as well?

Best Chinese buffet around like to go here once a month. Staff are friendly and food is good quality. Well priced no rush service

The food has greatly increased since the revamp. Only downfall is that we ordered water a few times to the table and didnt get any until we went up and waited to get it from the counter.

They have recently changed their interior which looks amazing! They great food and service, the staff are friendly and quick to serve. It feels like they use to have more food options in the past. but they still have a good selection of food in their buffet.

When this place was first open the food was great with a good choice of food. We visited this restaurant again Wednesday 9/10/19 and was so very disappointed with the food and the seating area. Obviously had gone under refurbishment with the tables closer to each other. We went to the area where the chef cooks what you want from a choice, but a grumpy woman came and asked us what we wanted then told us to go and come back later. The egg fried rice was over cooked and mushy, the prawns were a mix of old n newly prepared, the crispy beef was tough and when I tried to pick it up with my fork it flew off my plate. Don’t think we’ll be going back there in a hurry. Oh!! This grumpy woman, when we were there the first time was having a right go at one of the staff while he was eating out the front in the restaurant.

food fairly good，but the atmosphere was not great, the service people have quit poor customer service level, During the waiting time for my family,I have been asked to pay upfront a few times which we have not started yet and 3hours to the close time. That is rude and unaccepted. We used to eat once a month at least there. Hope the owner get some customer service lessons for the service team, cos that service and manners will drive your loyal customers away.

Nice friendly pace to share Chinese food with the kids they had as much as they could eat money was reasonable 15 ish each and less for children under 1. 5 metres

Visité Reku Zen hoy. Hace un par de semanas, el nombre era Chings. De repente cambió de nuevo a Reku zen nuevamente. ¡Estaba sorprendido!La calidad de la comida es la misma. Nada ha cambiado. Después de la renovación, el lugar parece un poco apretado para moverse. Primero tiene que pagar su mesa antes de entrar. Las bebidas deben pedirse y pagarse en el mostrador con el número de la mesa.Pedimos a una de las camareras que nos consiguiera una silla alta y nos quitara la silla grande. La cara que hizo fue suficiente para que dijera que no quería estar allí, probablemente cansada o que no ama su trabajo.Los platos estaban un poco grasientos, no estaban bien lavados. Yo diría que aún deberían observar sus estándares de higiene. Las mesas estaban un poco pegajosas también. No estoy seguro si es el pulido de las nuevas mesas después de la renovación o si no limpian las mesas correctamente.

Por un costo de 16. 99, a pagar en la entrada, este es un buffet de "todo lo que pueda comer". Una gran variedad de platos chinos estándar: no es el mejor que jamás haya probado, pero al menos las cantidades son lo suficientemente pequeñas como para permanecer calientes y no demasiado deshidratadas. No es el lugar al que ir para platos auténticos de alta calidad, pero más que adecuado y la mayoría del personal era amable y servicial.

Cinco de nosotros visitamos su restaurante anoche. La comida era excelente, nunca habíamos visto tanta variedad en un restaurante buffet antes y la comida estaba muy caliente. Los platos vacíos fueron reemplazados rápidamente, todo estaba impecablemente limpio y el personal era feliz y acogedor. Los miembros más viejos y más jóvenes de nuestro grupo quedaron particularmente impresionados con la variedad de postres nunca antes experimentados en un restaurante chino y les gustaron especialmente los crepes hechos a la medida. Definitivamente recomendaríamos este restaurante recientemente renovado y esperamos nuestra próxima visita.

All you can eat buffet is great value for money, but watch out as the drinks are very expensive and the food is very salty so you need lots of drinks

I took one of my daughters here to cheer her up as we’ve been several times before ( it’s cheap and the kids love it).

This once was a lovely place to eat and very well run. Sadly no investment in years. The service is simply shocking do not ask for tap water because if you do you will be completely ignored. The food is of a very poor standard and you will wait for the premium items such as prawns because all they care about is making a maximum profit. Their current food rating of 1 star should tell you to avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Dropped by before the cinemas with the kids for a Saturday lunch and came out completely satisfied. Great value and as usual friendly staff. Will return!

Awful so so disappointed the food was very sparse .And the food what was there was fatty or tasteless the staff looked so fed up and bored we didn't expect the Ritz but the place has gone down hill so much a new chef and a total redecoraton of the place needs to be done and also stop buying the food from Iceland and cook a better quality of food is in need.Will not to there again.

Best to go when place is busy to ensure the help yourself buffet remains fresh. Good value if you want a reasonably priced night out night.

My friends and I were on a vocation in London. We visited that place since we were really hungry after a whole day of wandering. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was incredible and the service we received was more than satisfying than we could wish for. My friends and I recommend this restaurant!

Visited the restaurant last Saturday for my nephew's birthday and am extremely happy with my experience. There was a large variety of foods from juicy satay chickens to an array of curries, mussels, prawns as well as a chocolate fountain! Great value for money especially given that if I had ordered everything I had separately in a conventional restaurant it would have cost me a fortune. Kids loved it. Great atmosphere. Great service! Definitely return soon!

I’m very upset and angry the way me and my family was treated today In the Chinese me and my family and friends have used for years ! For some reason the made us stand and wait before even taking any notice of us and sitting people down without having to pay but then showing us to our table making us pay our bill before we even seated we were the only ones of many that had to do this, Feeling shocked embarrassed and very took back on this situation,I noticed every other table had bills out on the table and not once was we asked if our food was ok or was we ok for drinks ! I felt really uncomfortable and disappointed as I had a family member and small child with her that I done nothing but big up the restaurant before taking her there tonight , I will not be going back and if I wasn’t so embarrassed I would have been asking to speak to a manager I will add that the restaurant was not overly busy and there were plenty of spare tables I would like an explanation

Visited the restaurant yesterday for my husbands birthday. All of the staff, but in particular our young male waiter, we're extremely friendly, helpful and cleared plates away quickly. Our waiter also went out of his way to arrange a birthday dessert for my husband, when he asked if I'd bought a cake and I told him I hadn't!

Not a great experience, used to be good has gone downhill. Place needs a good clean. Everywhere and everything is grubby. Food is ok tasting but incredibly greasy and full of MSG. I have had a headache since, and I visited over 12 hours ago. MSG is known to make you feel fuller than you are so no doubt the food for this all you can eat buffet will be loaded with it - and the cause of headaches. The desserts are strange and unappealing and if you want to play it safe with fresh fruit it will most likely be brown and not all that fresh. You are not getting a bargain here, don’t be fooled.

Went to celebrate my husband's birthday with the family...we have been going to this restaurant for years and very disappointed with the food today...Chicken was very dry and stringy ...I couldn't eat the Satay because of this. Not up to its usual standard. Staff always very friendly and polite but didn't clear tables and found we were putting plates on an empty table next to us. Its only open Saturday Lunchtimes now...but i have been put off going back after today. In future you should go in the evenings as i think food is more fresh and better quality. Don't bother to go Lunchtimes.

I think I must have gone to a different place than lots of these reviewers! I couldn't fault it. Friendly staff, huge choice of dishes, all piping hot, and the food tasted really fresh. Huge fresh prawns. Chicken satays for example are generally reformed bits, but these really tasted of fresh moist chicken. Lamb Massaman and Thai Chicken Curries were lovely flavours. I think we paid £16.95 on a Saturday, and I thought this was amazing value. Desserts - well oriental food is not known for its sweetmeats - but there was fresh fruit, choc mousse, cheesecake type things, different icecreams - could hardly complain at such a reasonable price. I wish there was a branch where I live.

My granddaughter and friend visited on Saturday evening. There was a hair in the food on friends first serving/dish. They complained, which fell on deaf ears. As they were only there for a very short while they asked for refund, the reply "you can eat as much as you like, we don't give refunds" and walked away. Pretty sure if anyone finds hair in food they wouldn't wish to continue eating. Not good at all.

Having nothing in for dinner this evening my husband and I thought we'd take our little boy our for dinner. We wanted something quick and remembered we hadn't been to Reku Zen for a while. We thought with variety of food there would be something for our little boy to eat too and thought it would be a cheaper option than another restaurant in Orpington.

Went there today with the family for my son birthday, when arrived there, the restaurant was fairly empty, but that was at 4pm , was greeted by a friendly waiter showed us to our table, as you walk in you can see the foods all laid out in front, there was plenty of choices, after we sat down, the waiter sorted out our drinks, but there wasn’t any choice for the young one ( age 3 ), so they both have to have a tall glass of apple juice, we were told just help ourself with the foods, there are Chinese and Japanese foods, that all hot and nice plus there was a lots of choices, even chips for the little one, also there are a lots of choice of desserts with a chocolate fountain as well, we all enjoyed the foods, only thing that I say negative is they charge a lot for children.

great selection ranging from chinese, indian and even sushi. in addition to helping yourself to each dish, there is a cooking station where they will cook fish and meat and if you have room, wonderful pancakes to follow! The desserts are great and a fantastic selection with a chocolate fountain.

Called in early this evening 6.30 wed 21st dont normaly go there till later the place was full & one whole side full of young Chinese students with there guides if i said 30 there were probebly more along evry other table booked not bad for nearly the end of febuary i stood in the entrance & the govnoress gave me a smile & a wave from behind the sushi bar the waiter was @ the bar pouring a mammoth of drinks & said take a seat be with you in a minute the waitress was in & out refilling the food trays in the buffet govnors daughter said good to see you back again can i get you a drink while i sort you a table the place was buzzing i was found a table for 6 just for me @ all times i was asked if everything was ok even the govnor himself came out of the busy kitchen to say hello i was served my drink 6 times didnt have to wait for the next to be empty & the waiter was non stop serving drinks to the other tables all with a smile on there faces the food well as good as always & plenty of it for £14.99 who could complain @ that & ive never been rushed any of the times ive been to rekuzen cannot fault this place any shape or form even tonight with every table taken the the whole staff were smiling as always then thats what the chinese are happy helpful people!!!! Nice cheap buffet, good food. I love the managers style. A feckless father allowing his 2 daughters to drop food over the floor, making a mess, and one of them dropped drink on the floor. Manager says dad must pay and he gets angry because he expects it for free. She's right, why should everyone else pay the price cause you won't control YOUR kids?

We went here for a meal for my Son for his birthday, fist of all a lady who works there (maybe the manager) asked us to moved half way through our meal, and then continued to glare at us when we refused to move.

Staff aren't the most friendly. On top of that, when asked for tap water, we were told that they could only provide warm water. They wouldn't give us ice unless we purchased a non-free drink. For a restaurant that charges c.£16 on a Friday-Saturday, I thought this was pretty tasteless. To make matters worse, we weren't allowed to put our own bottles at our tables. Furthermore, we found a hair in one of the dishes. Much of the food was quite greasy.

I ate here on a Saturday it was very busy and waited 30 minutes for a tablet which we didn’t mind. However come Sunday morning I had severe stomach cramps, an extreme upset stomach, felt nauseous, lost my appetite and felt weak. I had got food poisoning which lasted 3 days.

Been here several times now. For a Chinese buffet I was expecting the food not to great. I was expecting average food for the amount of dishes on show. I was wrong, every single dish was amazing.. all the variety’s of food and each of them were incredible!! FAVOURITE Chinese restaurant... service quick and happy. Management always polite and helpful. Love it!

Restaurante tipo buffet, donde se paga un precio fijo. La comida es buena, con una gran variedad en el buffet. Restaurante cómodo y limpio que es muy popular. El único inconveniente es que al ser una comida buffet en un precio fijo que quieres y salir tan rápido como sea posible. . . . o eso parece. Estábamos en un grupo de ocho y tan pronto como plato de alguien estaba vacío el personal estaba allí para alejarla tan rápidamente como podían. Parecía que después de estar allí un tiempo el personal era que rondan alrededor de la mesa esperando para terminar. Poco probable que volvería otra vez.

We went to the Reku Zen for the first time tonight and I could not find fault with anything. Even though it was busy we were seated very quickly, The choice of the buffet was was extremely varied for all 3 courses with a chocolate fountain as a good addition to the dessert course. The service was also excellent with the waitresses making sure we had all we needed and the tables cleared as you finished each course. As we asked for the bill we were asked if we needed any thing else. All this and the prices were great as well, we could not have asked for more. I would recommend it to anybody who asked.

I visited Reku Zen with my family for an evening meal after reading people's reviews. It superseded my expectations, the food was fresh and tasty and there was so much variety to chose from. There is a grill where you can have meat and fish cooked to order and there is a dessert table with a chocolate fountain, ice cream parlour and atleast 8 other desserts to choose from. I would highly recommend giving it a try, there is something for everyone.

Reku Zen.........fantastic value chinese buffet restaurant. I went for a family meal, what amazing value £15.99 per adult, £12.99 for older child and £7.99 for young child. Eat all you want buffet with such amazing choice of dishes from seaweed, chicken satay, duck pancakes, noodles, rice, beef in black bean sauce, crispy beef, dumplings, sweet and sour chicken, fried vegetables, salt and pepper chicken, prawn crackers to mention a few. The food area is set into 3 parts, starters, mains and dessert. Also has a sushi area. You dont have to stick to starter, main and dessert, have what you want and keep going back!!!! The food tastes and looks consitently freshly made. Good choice of dribks on offer. Friendly, helpful staff. Definately one to try if you have'nt already.

The restaurant is old and tired but the food it's generally okay and the choice is good (and never changes). The kids love the variety and are especially happy with the chocolate fountain and the pancakes made to order.The price is very reasonable and we visit on a regular basis when the kids get to choose the restaurant.

I recently visited for a lunch buffet. I enjoyed most of the food. I found the lamb (duck pancake alternative) to be very greasy also came across some bones. Lots of veggie options and was reasonably priced. I think the restaurant has lots of character but could do with updating a bit, the chairs were very worn and the bathroom wasn't great this let it down a bit.

Our first visit to Raku Zen after our daughters recommendation. Service was superb with an excellent table provided. Food was better than your average Chinese. Service just kept on getting better and better. Quality food. Great service!!

I went here with some friends and was really surprised at how good the food was, it was eat as much as you like buffet and the selection consisted of: Japanese, Chinese and a bit of Indian.Having never eaten Sushi before I was very dubious about eating "Raw fish" but no it wasn't like that at all I also had Teppan yaki which was excellent, the chinese selection was much of a muchness with other chinese restaurants I have been to but overall the selection was very good as was the service, the drinks weren't overpriced either which was a bonus.I will definitely be going here again

Me and my partner always choose to go Reku Zen for our Chinese for our buffet choice, it's our favourite restaurant in terms of the staff. One of the staff in particular that wears the glasses is our favourite waiter, that we have met in any type of restaurant. He shakes my hand and introduces himself every time we arrive. He is now a true friend of me and my partner because we're always so excited to see him when we arrive at the restaurant. We're both looking forward to finding out he's name because he completes the restaurant. To Whoever your name is not only have you got a customer for life you also have a friend! Thank you Reku Zen for being the best Chinese restaurant I have ever experienced!I hope he gets the chance to read this and know who wrote it! Best of luck buddy

i went there for friends birthday party for 5 . foods were absolutely disgusting and not fresh.spechless

Simply the most vile place you could visit in the area. You would be better off getting a Tesco takeaway.The staff are the rudest and most inconsiderate people you will have the displeasure of meeting. Do not dare ask for hot food or clean utensils.I know you get what you pay for but you really are scraping the barrel going here

We have loved eating here in the past, but the last time we ate here I started to vomit at 2am and my husband became ill (other end) at 2:30am. Given that this was the only meal we had in common for a couple of days due to his shift work, it was clear to us what had caused it. Such a shame! It left us washed out for a while and we will not return.

I was taken there for my birthday, it was great. the services was out standing and the food was Fab. it was well worth the money and you can eat at your own speed so you enjoy all of the flavours. it was a lovely evening and will be going there again soon. the staff are very good and it was nice that they remembered us form the last time we went.Keep it up you are the best in Orpington

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. There is a wide selection of food with a cook while you wait bar in the corner for slithers of meat and fish Not all the food is piping hot . If you leave some food on your plate the management moan that you shouldn't waste it. Ot is better to pick little and go up for more rather than pile your plate up high They give you paper serviettes rather than cloth and the seating/tables are standard and not fancy .The emphasis is on variety rather than high end Cuisine .The crispy duck is bland and is like minced duck rather than traditional Fork scraped duckThis is best for a family dinner rather than a special celebration.

Me and my boyfriend love this chinese. We go at every opportunity we can. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. a wide variety of food to choose from. Great that you get dessert in with the overall price too. Great value for money.

The staff in this place are so rude, they have little, to no customer service what so EVER! Food was mediocre.The most disturbing part for me was the height restrictions for a childs meal....i mean how is it that they can determine all children are below 4ft 7inchs? if i knew where to take this matter up i would!!!

Reku Zen serves reasonable food at a reasonable price. It wins by having a very wide selection of Oriental food, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, that you can help yourself to. Enough said.

Best Chinese Buffet I have been to. It is not high quality, but good value with lots of choice. Grill Bar is my favourite. Kids love Chocolate Fountain. Service is friendly. Always busy which speaks volumes. £70 with drinks for family. We will keep coming back.

This place is vile. Food is terrible, service is terrible, drinks flat, toilets disgusting, over all would rather eat off a park bench from under the local hobo, would probably be better for me.

I was on a holiday around Europe with my friends and when we got in London, we decided to try this place.I am astonished by the diversity that this place offers.Prices were reasonable.I really liked the food,especially the rice and the crispy duck.Staff was uniquely friendly especially the boy with the glasses,I think his name was Denislav.I was going to give a tip and a 5 star review only if the Chinese girl wasn't yelling so much,she was so passively aggressive.Afterall it's a place I would probably visit again when I come back to London.

Been here couple of times its ok,lots of different dishes to choose from but what I dont really like is having to go and get my food I like being waited on when I eat out its more relaxing,also when we were seated it was a bit cramped on little table,when we finished our starters the plates were not removed so they were piling up this restaurant makes me feel greedy you end up eating too much,I would still go back but its not my first choice for a good chinese.

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions but not lately. I was disappointed as although the food looked okay it didn't taste that good, it was as if they had a different chef. The rice was stodgy, the chicken balls tasted funny, the curries hadn't got much taste etc. Also all the staff except a young female were so miserable so that doesn't encourage you to come again.

Another lovely visit. Staff very polite and food very good. Would recommend to anyone who wants a buffet style dinner. Really enjoyable evening had by us all. Will definitely be returning.

It's kind of embarrassing how many times I've been to this place, but there is a reason: the staff are (generally) friendly, the food is plentiful and delicious and overall it is good value for money.

Just awful. Service was dreadful. Food was of very poor quality, mass produced (probably). When I asked for more duck on the buffet, the look I got really shook me and then I was told to "wait - like everybody else". I didn't wait - we went elsewhere. We won't be returning.They need courses on customer service.

Went here for my birthday with mates. We all love this place as food is amazing. Service is fantastic and would love to come back again.

First visit recommended by friends. An early Friday meal thought we might have trouble getting in but the restaurant was a great size and.plenty of tables. There were a steady amount of customers coming in and out. Food was great and plentiful and alot of it the desserts wow loads. Would recommend for all people.

I've not been before, but the buffet was very good. Lots of choice and very varied. Extremely good value for money as well. But what made it feel particularly enjoyable were the very friendly staff. I suspect this is a family run business, and they really do care about diners.

Not a busy place, looks are good. Buffet food, very good, good variation and help yourself, good turnover of food so fresh and very tasty. Staff great. Ambience the only minus point, but really the food makes up for it. Good value too. Worth a visit

This is the second time this restaurant has let us down. Some months ago we went to go for lunch but despite the website details it was closed with no one around. We went today and despite phoning ahead at the weekend to make sure they would be open lo and behold they were shut. A family turned up at the same time as us expecting them to be open. Atrocious loss of business and ruined my partners birthday lunch plans. Will never go again

I always a bug fan of buffet restaurants but reku zen in particular NO WAY!!! Grease, dirty and yucks!!! Seriously is not worth it better to have beans and toast

Went on the 16th with friends Food ok except for a long hair in one of the dishes which I pulled out and gave to the girl wiping the plates she said "oh sorry" I said that's not good I waited for her to take the fish of the counter she didn't do I returned to my table and told my friends to avoid that dish I asked a girl I want to speak to a manager she said no sorry not here I said assistant manager no sorry!!! Useless didn't want to let me speak to anyone the girl said I will remove the dish I said a bit late I've counted at least 6 people eat it Don't think I'd eat here again as I don't think they take food hygiene seriously

Went here at a weekend- Very busy but we had booked in advance so didn't have to wait long ; Loads of choice - starters , main course and desserts . Food really hot - unusual for a buffet. Chips also for the less adventours but sushi , crispy duck , crab claws and all the things you would expect - Leave room for dessert - fresh fruit , chocolate fountain, trifle, cakes, jelly, ice cream . Quite noisy bu t as stated before very busy - might be quieter in the evening
